Crotch Mending
Hello everyone! We all know the answer to this one. Where do your pants wear out the fastest?
[Audience yelling: THE CROTCH!!!]
Exactly! I've already done DIY ripstop on (almost) all the pants I own. This pair of shorts tore out above the ripstop earlier in the summer, but I replaced them with secondhand basketball shorts and forgot about them in the Tote of Doom.
Anyway, I desperately needed an easy W in the books tonight, so I pulled out whatever odd-shaped scraps of black canvas came to hand, and I patched the crotch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I started out by sewing a box all around this rip to stabilize it. My machine has a cool diamond stitch that I use as a serger dupe, but you can do the exact same thing with a little straight stitch grid. It's just enough to lock all the OG threads in place, with enough patch showing through to relieve tension on the rip.
Also, as I've learned the hard way, I have to use polyester thread for this. I'm always a slut for cotton, but it just can't stand up to my tactical thighs. Also, long-leg boxer briefs are the key to negating the sensory input from the mends.
Tumblr media
I proceeded to stitch this semi-geometric sorta-concentric pattern all over the patch to hold it down. The easy W was complete! But I'm a creature of momentum. My favorite words are "While I'm at it," so I did the other side too.
Final product:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm so pleased! I'll have to see how well they wear. Using dark grey thread rather than black was a good choice.
I hope this inspires you to try saving or reinforcing some pants. While I'm not posting a photo of proof for obvious reasons, you truly can't see crotch mending, especially when the thread matches because it's all up in your undercarriage and shadowed. Nobody's looking that closely, and if they are, kick them.
Go forth and make stuff. As @dog-of-ulthar said in his pants-mending tutorial, "The revolution starts with your ass."

Meet new sewing pattern <Komugi> Over shirt
A new item is just published from Waffle Patterns. Meet Over shirt <Komugi> sewing pattern, a work wear style over shirt with many functional pockets. Depending on your fabric and design choice, it will be a work shirt, uniform-like service shirt or outdoor style shirt jacket. You can make just a simple shirt as well.
Tumblr media
<design options>
View A features a hidden button stand front opening + patch side pockets + an inside pocket. The patch side pockets are 2 types ; side opening or layered type. The cuff is no-opening design.
View B has a normal button stand + seam pocket + back bent and cuff opening.
The chest pocket design has 2 options, layer type or zipper pocket.
View A is intended as non-scratch design suitable for a work shirt especially if you are working on fragile things. View B can be made as a more outdoor-like shirt jacket with details like cuff openings or a vent. But of course you can choose and mix the options as you like!
The khaki sample in the photos features viewA, and the red plaid one is view B. The caramel brown one has mixed features.
My favourite feature is the sleeve patches. Adding compliment textures/colours is really fun! But you can sew without them, too.
Please make your creative style by mixing your favourite details.
Tumblr media
<fabric recommendation>
The pattern is drafted for woven fabrics. Light-medium weight durable shirt fabrics are recommended. like corduroy, duck, twill, denim, linen, flannel, light wool or canvas etc.
It is not impossible to use very light drapery fabric, but those are not suitable for some details like patch pockets or vent.
Also, some very thick/stiff fabrics might not work well for details like pockets with facing. In that case, please consider using other lighter fabrics partly like the inside yoke, facing, or pocket parts.
Please choose a suitable one for your design intension.
For the caramel brown sample in the photos, I used cotton canvas. Suitable for work shirts and very easy to handle. The contrast fabric used for the sleeve patch and pocket layer is faux suede.
If you want very durable patches, leather or rubber-mixed fabrics are used for professional work apparel. But for general daily usage, like mine, design oriented choice like nice compliment colours or textures will be enough. Using leftover or old clothes is a fun choice, too.
The khaki sample is cotton ripstop. This one is also very suitable for work wear. The patch part is mixed twill.
The red plaid one is light wool backed fleece. I backed all the pieces with fleece except the folded parts like pocket openings or hem.
I bought all those fabrics from my local fabric market, but most of them are from years ago. I wanted to share where I bought them, but I actually forgot all.
I think light water repellent or windproof fabrics are nice functional options, too.
Tumblr media
<Size>
The shirt is drafted regular fit.
I made on size bigger the red plaid sample because I wanted to wear this as a jacket. Also because the fabric gets thicker with fleece backing.
The caramel brown and khaki samples were made with just fit size.
<Other material>
If you attach the hidden button stand design, it is better to use flat and thin buttons for clean look opening.

Why a 270 Awning Is the Ultimate Truck Awning for Outdoor Enthusiasts
If you’re an overlanding enthusiast or simply someone who loves spontaneous road trips, investing in the right gear can make or break your outdoor experience. Among the must-have accessories for your rig, a high-quality awning tops the list. And when it comes to coverage, convenience, and rugged versatility, the 270 awning — also known as the 270 degree awning or batwing awning — stands out as a game-changer in the world of truck awnings.
What Is a 270 Awning?
A 270 awning is a wraparound style awning that provides up to 270 degrees of shade and shelter around your vehicle. Unlike traditional straight pull-out awnings, this design swings out in an arc from the side and rear of your vehicle, covering a much larger area. Whether you’re cooking, relaxing, or setting up camp, a 270 degree awning offers protection from the elements without needing extra poles or complex setups.

Why Choose a Batwing Awning?
The term batwing awning is often used interchangeably with 270 awning. It gets its name from the unique wing-like shape that unfolds around the vehicle. Here’s why a batwing awning is a top pick for adventurers:
Quick Setup: Most 270 awnings can be deployed by one person in under a minute.
Massive Coverage: Enjoy up to 129 square feet of shelter — perfect for large groups or gear-heavy camps.
Built for the Elements: Made with heavy-duty materials that withstand wind, rain, and UV rays.
Freestanding or Pole-Supported: Depending on your setup, some models can stand without poles, making them ideal for quick stops or compact spaces.

The Ideal Truck Awning for Overlanders
When it comes to finding the best truck awning, compatibility is key. Most 270 awnings are designed to mount on roof racks or roof bars, making them a natural fit for trucks, SUVs, vans, and 4x4s. A truck-mounted awning turns your vehicle into a mobile basecamp, ready for any environment — from sandy deserts to mountain forests.
Benefits for truck owners:
Integrated Storage: The awning folds into a compact, weatherproof case that stays mounted on your roof.
Increased Functionality: Add-ons like walls, mosquito nets, and LED lighting expand your outdoor living space.
Ultimate Mobility: Wherever your truck can go, your shelter goes too.

Choosing the Right 270 Awning for Your Needs
Not all 270 awnings are created equal. Here are a few things to consider before buying:
Material Quality – Look for ripstop canvas or reinforced polyester for durability.
Mounting Compatibility – Ensure your vehicle’s roof rack can support the weight and mounting system.
Left vs Right Swing – Depending on how you camp or cook, the swing direction can matter.
Extras – Some models come with integrated walls, windbreaks, or even solar panels.
Popular Brands:Leading brands in this space include Rhino-Rack, Darche, 23ZERO, and Oztent, each offering different features tailored to off-grid explorers.
Final Thoughts
Whether you call it a 270 awning, a batwing awning, or simply your truck’s best camping upgrade, this versatile shelter solution is a must-have for outdoor adventurers. With unmatched coverage, durability, and ease of use, it’s no wonder why more overlanders are opting for this style of truck awning. So next time you head off the beaten path, let your awning unfold and enjoy the great outdoors like never before.

🇺🇸Army of the United States🇺🇲: a military lookbook
Tumblr media
PART II
Spanish-American War (1898): The soldiers wore a khaki uniform with a high collar and brass buttons. This uniform included a campaign hat, and troops often wore canvas leggings and brown leather gaiters.
World War I (1917-1918): The iconic uniform of World War I was the M1917 uniform, commonly known as the "Doughboy" uniform. It featured a flat-brimmed helmet, a tunic, and trousers, all made of olive drab wool.
World War II (1941-1945): The U.S. Army transitioned to a more functional and comfortable olive drab uniform during World War II. The M1941 uniform included a field jacket, a garrison cap, and cargo pants.
Vietnam War (1955-1975): The U.S. Army adopted the M1965 uniform during the early years of the Vietnam War. It was made of ripstop cotton and came in an olive green color. The most recognizable feature was the slant pockets on the jacket.

Note
Butters outfit headcanons please!
Alright fellas strap in, because this is the character I've put the most thought in.
Tumblr media
For daily Butters' I see him wearing a fleece jacket, similar to the NorthFace ones. Some times he wears a graphic tee under it, sometimes it's a normal tee shirt.
For his pants I once saw someone say that he wears corduroy pants, and I love it. I remember having a pair growing up. For his shoes I think a low rise boot/loaf that's water resistant
Tumblr media
Moving on to my pride and joy, Professor Chaos. I see his cape being made of a spare sheet, held together by a clasp made of a broken necklace chain and the tops of cans. His vest is made of nylon ripstop and based off another Northface thing i saw. He wears green jeans, canvas shoes, and his tinfoil armor is precariously assembled with love and a lot of tape. (Stay tuned for my final costume idea)
Tumblr media
Moving on to paladin Butters.
His circlet is a cute plastic crown. He's got shoulder armor similar to that of a foot ball quarterback's. His tunic/surecloth is made from an old shirt that belonged to his father. Butters modified it to better fit him (his father didn't approve, but this isn't about that)
The belt is made of a drawstring that he found somewhere, all of it is worn over his everyday pants and shoes. He also wears those latex gloves for doing dishes. (Once again stay tuned for my final costume idea.)
Tumblr media
Ending with with his cute Halloween jamies.
They're footie pjs made of a cotton jersey fabric. (This is here mainly bc these are Uber cute and I an and will make a jacket based off it)
Now its time for Kass' final costume edit ™
These are my irl notes, and in my au, Butters gets a real cool babysitter, who has a freak knowledge on sewing.
Professor Chaos stays similar to Butters' og design. The only difference being in the cape, which was now made of a lightweight satin. That was chosen because it looks sick as heck. The tinfoil armor took a different shape, due to it being wrapped around cardboard to increase durability.
Paladin Butters has a more drastic change .
His cape is now one of those giant scarf cape things made of a lightweight linen. His tunic and surcoat are now separate pieces with the tunic being made of light cotton and the surecoat being made of wool. His belt is made of a faux leather cord that matches his boots. His gloves are made of faux suede and lined with sherpa.
The crest that's on the surecoat has a hammer discretly embroidered in it.
In my first version of it, the crest included a banner saying "Conplecte Abyssum" which is a Latin phrase roughly meaning "to embrace chaos"

When it comes to overlanding or remote camping, comfort and convenience can make or break the experience. One piece of gear that has rapidly gained popularity among outdoor enthusiasts is the 270 awning, also known as the 270 degree awning or batwing awning. Mounted directly to your vehicle, this innovative shelter offers unmatched coverage, ease of use, and all-weather protection. Let’s explore why a 270 awning might just be the best investment for your truck awning setup.
What Is a 270 Awning?
A 270 awning is a specialized retractable awning that pivots around a central mounting point, usually attached to a vehicle’s roof rack or side rails. Unlike standard straight awnings, the 270 awning swings out in an arc that covers up to 270 degrees of shade—hence the name. It provides shelter over the side and rear of your truck, making it ideal for camping kitchens, gear storage, or just creating a relaxing shaded area.

Why the 270 Degree Awning Stands Out
The 270 degree awning isn’t just about shade—it’s about smart design. Here’s what makes it a standout choice:
Massive Coverage: It wraps around the side and back of your vehicle, providing up to 129 square feet of coverage, depending on the model.
Quick Setup: Most batwing awnings deploy in under 60 seconds. Simply unzip, swing out, and anchor the arms—no complicated assembly required.
All-Weather Ready: Designed with heavy-duty materials like ripstop canvas and reinforced aluminum arms, they withstand strong winds and rain when properly guyed out.
Versatile Mounting: Whether you drive a truck, SUV, or van, a 270 awning can be mounted to virtually any roof rack system.
270 degree awning
Batwing Awning vs. Traditional Awnings
The term batwing awning is often used interchangeably with 270 awning, thanks to its wing-like appearance when deployed. Compared to traditional pull-out awnings, the batwing design offers:
Superior Coverage: Standard awnings cover one side. Batwing awnings cover two or more.
Sturdier Structure: With multiple support arms and tie-down points, batwing awnings are better suited for unpredictable outdoor conditions.
Enhanced Functionality: Great for setups where multiple zones are needed, like a cooking area on one side and lounging on the other.
batwing awning
Choosing the Right Truck Awning
When selecting a truck awning, consider the following:
Material Quality: Look for UV-resistant, waterproof fabric and corrosion-resistant hardware.
Ease of Use: Choose a model that deploys quickly and packs down compactly.
Compatibility: Ensure it fits your vehicle’s roof rack system.
Additional Features: Some models come with walls, mosquito nets, or lighting kits to upgrade your outdoor space.

Final Thoughts
A 270 degree awning—whether you call it a batwing awning or just a clever truck awning—is a game-changer for outdoor enthusiasts. It offers expansive shade, rapid setup, and the versatility to transform your campsite in seconds. If you’re planning your next off-grid journey, don’t leave home without one.

Stagehand Clothing: Essential Gear for the Backbone of Live Productions
Tumblr media
Stagehand Clothing: Essential Gear for the Backbone of Live Productions
Stagehands are the invisible force behind the magic of live entertainment. From concerts and theater shows to festivals and televised events, these hardworking professionals handle the technical aspects that bring a production to life. While the spotlight rarely shines on them, the efficiency and safety of a stagehand’s work rely heavily on proper gear. One of the most important yet underrated aspects of this is stagehand clothing. Designed for functionality, comfort, and discretion, the right apparel can make a world of difference in this demanding field.
The Importance of Appropriate Stagehand Clothing
Stagehand clothing isn’t about fashion—it’s about function, safety, and professionalism. These workers are frequently lifting, climbing, crawling, and moving quickly in tight or dark spaces. Their clothing needs to be tough enough to withstand rough conditions while remaining comfortable through long shifts. At the same time, it must allow for ease of movement, stay silent during motion, and blend in with the environment to keep the focus on the performance.
In many ways, stagehand clothing serves as a uniform that communicates readiness and competence. For new and seasoned professionals alike, dressing appropriately for the job is a mark of respect for the craft and the team.
Durability and Protection on the Job
A primary concern for stagehand clothing is durability. Stagehands often work around heavy equipment, sharp edges, and unpredictable environments. This makes reinforced fabrics a necessity. Strong materials like canvas, ripstop, and heavy-duty cotton blends are commonly used because they resist tears and abrasions.
Work pants with reinforced knees and double stitching hold up against kneeling on hard floors or dragging gear. Similarly, long-sleeve shirts or jackets made from flame-retardant or cut-resistant fabrics can provide an extra layer of protection against unexpected accidents.
It’s also worth noting that protective clothing helps stagehands adhere to safety regulations in certain venues or jurisdictions. In some environments, there may be specific dress codes enforced for compliance reasons, especially in union-supported productions.
Mobility and Comfort for Long Hours
Stagehands typically endure long, irregular hours—often including late nights, early mornings, or entire days on their feet. Wearing clothing that restricts movement or traps heat can lead to discomfort, fatigue, and even injury. That’s why breathability, stretchability, and ergonomic design are important components of stagehand clothing.
Flexible fabrics like spandex-infused cotton blends or moisture-wicking polyester are often preferred for shirts and base layers. These materials help regulate body temperature and provide freedom of movement. Articulated knees and gusseted crotches in pants can also improve range of motion, which is vital when climbing trusses or maneuvering behind stage sets.
Clothing that can layer easily is also key, as temperatures may fluctuate drastically between indoor, outdoor, and backstage environments. Being able to remove or add layers without disrupting workflow allows stagehands to maintain comfort throughout the day.
Dark and Non-Reflective for Stage Presence
One of the cardinal rules of stagehand clothing is invisibility. Stagehands must operate in the wings, backstage, or even on stage during live performances—all without drawing attention. This means dark, muted colors like black, charcoal, or navy are the standard. Clothing must be completely non-reflective to avoid catching light from stage spotlights or screens.
Even small reflective logos or shiny buttons can be disruptive. Many professionals go as far as using matte finishes or taping over reflective accents to avoid this issue. Hoods, caps, and masks may also be used to conceal any visible features and help the worker fade into the shadows.
The principle of blending in extends to footwear and accessories as well. Non-slip black boots or sneakers are preferred, and any gear worn on the belt or chest should be similarly dark and silent.
Practical Features That Make a Difference
Stagehand clothing isn’t just about fabric and color—it’s also about utility. Built-in tool loops, deep pockets, hidden zippers, and reinforced belt loops can all improve a stagehand’s workflow. When a worker needs to quickly grab a wrench, flashlight, or roll of gaffer tape, accessible storage options can save precious time.
Pants with cargo pockets or tool pouches are particularly useful, as they reduce the need to carry additional bags or tool belts. Shirts with pen slots, ID holders, or snap buttons allow for fast, one-handed use. These thoughtful design features turn clothing into an active tool rather than just a passive covering.
For those working outdoors or in poorly ventilated areas, ventilation panels or zippered vents under the arms or behind the knees can help manage heat buildup. Some garments even incorporate odor-resistant technologies to maintain hygiene during multi-day gigs or travel-heavy schedules.
Footwear and Accessories as Part of Stagehand Clothing
While the primary focus is often on shirts and pants, stagehand clothing also includes accessories and footwear, which are critical components of the full work uniform. Sturdy, closed-toe shoes with non-slip soles are not optional—they are essential for safety when moving heavy cases or climbing ladders. Steel-toed boots are often required on job sites with a higher risk of dropped equipment or tools.
Gloves are another important accessory. While they aren’t typically worn the entire time, many stagehands keep a pair of utility gloves on hand for handling hot lights, sharp objects, or abrasive cables. Similarly, beanies or skull caps can help absorb sweat, and headlamps attached to hats or vests provide hands-free lighting in low-visibility areas.
Tool belts, radios, and lanyards round out the ensemble, and these items must all be securely fastened and muted in color. A loose item can quickly become a tripping hazard or an unwelcome noise source during a performance.
Weather Considerations and Seasonal Gear
Stagehands who work outdoor events must prepare for varying weather conditions. In cold climates, insulated jackets, thermal base layers, and waterproof outer shells are important additions to the wardrobe. These garments must still meet the same criteria of non-reflectivity, quietness, and functionality.
In hot or humid weather, breathable mesh shirts, moisture-wicking fabrics, and lightweight work pants help prevent overheating. Sun hats with dark brims, UV-protective sleeves, and even cooling towels may be used to enhance comfort.
Layering is often the best strategy for changing conditions. Having a base layer, mid-layer, and outer layer that can each be removed or added quickly allows for adaptation without compromising safety or readiness.
The Psychology of Professional Appearance
Though stagehands operate behind the scenes, their appearance can still influence the dynamics of a production. Wearing appropriate stagehand clothing demonstrates professionalism, preparedness, and a commitment to safety. It also promotes unity among crew members and can boost morale by reinforcing the importance of every role.
When new crew members see a team outfitted in practical, clean, and consistent gear, they’re more likely to emulate that standard. It creates a culture of discipline and respect that trickles down into the overall execution of the production.
Clothing may not get applause, but it plays a key role in creating an environment where precision and performance can thrive.
Conclusion
Stagehand clothing is more than a uniform—it’s a toolkit, a safety net, and a badge of professionalism. Whether it's built to endure grueling labor, blend invisibly into dark stages, or keep the wearer comfortable during 16-hour shifts, the right clothing empowers stagehands to do their jobs efficiently and safely. In an industry where timing is everything and mistakes are highly visible, proper attire helps reduce distractions, enhance mobility, and foster a culture of responsibility. As live productions continue to evolve, the foundational role of well-designed stagehand clothing remains unchanged—supporting the people who keep the show running from the shadows.

Clean Street Looks with Hellstar Shorts
Tumblr media
A clean street look always starts with a good base, and a crisp white tee is the perfect match for your Hellstar shorts. The simplicity of a white shirt balances the bold energy of the shorts, letting the details shine without trying too hard. You can tuck it in for a neater look or leave it out for something more relaxed. Low-top sneakers in white or neutral shades add to the fresh vibe and make the outfit feel smooth. A silver chain or slim watch can bring a small touch of street cool without overloading your look. This combo works for casual hangouts, a quick coffee run, or even a lowkey night out. The best part is how easy it is to switch the style up with a jacket or hat. Simple, clean, and effective—that's the power of pairing a white tee with Hellstar shorts.
Monochrome Fits That Look Sharp
Wearing all black or all grey with hellstar shorts makes for a clean and sharp streetwear fit. This look is easy to pull off, yet always makes a strong statement. Start with black Hellstar shorts, then match them with a black hoodie or long-sleeve shirt. Add some sleek black sneakers or even boots if you want to dress it up a little. The key to pulling off a monochrome outfit is to mix textures—like pairing cotton shorts with a nylon jacket or suede shoes. A black cap or crossbody bag rounds out the fit and keeps everything smooth. This style works great in any season and always looks intentional. Monochrome outfits give off a clean, cool vibe without trying too hard.
Clean Fits with Graphic Details
If you want your outfit to pop without looking messy, go for clean base colors with bold graphic details. Start with plain Hellstar shorts in a solid color, then add a top with one strong graphic or logo. This keeps the fit looking organized while still showing off your style. Stick to two or three main colors in your outfit to avoid clashing or looking too loud. Shoes and accessories should follow the same rule—choose one piece to stand out and keep the rest neutral. Graphic tees or hoodies with street art vibes work great here. Throw in a beanie or bucket hat to give it that full city feel. It’s the perfect way to stay fresh and express yourself with just the right amount of edge.
Neutral Tones for a Polished Street Look
Neutral tones like beige, tan, olive, and grey work really well with Hellstar shorts for that clean streetwear vibe. A khaki jacket or olive overshirt can add texture and layering without being too much. Accessories like canvas totes or brown caps tie the look together with style. This combo works especially well in spring and fall when you want to keep it light but sharp. Neutral fits also give you space to play with fabric—cotton, fleece, and ripstop all work together. The result is a clean, thoughtful outfit that’s easy to wear any day.

This style lets you move easy while still looking put-together. Oversized fits show you know how to play with shape without losing that clean street look.
Light Colors for Summer Street Style
In summer, lighter colors make your Hellstar shorts stand out while keeping your fit breezy and cool. Go for white, cream, or light grey shorts paired with pastel tops like baby blue or soft pink. Best Durable Pet Beds for Large Dogs
Tumblr media
Finding a durable pet bed for large dogs is not just a luxury—it's a necessity. Large breed dogs need strong, supportive, and long-lasting beds that can withstand their size, weight, and sometimes their chewing tendencies.
If you’re tired of replacing dog beds every few months or worrying about your pet’s joint health, investing in the right heavy-duty dog bed can make all the difference.
Why Durable Pet Beds Matter for Large Dogs
Unlike small breeds, large dogs like Labradors, German Shepherds, Great Danes, or Mastiffs place more pressure on bedding. A standard bed can flatten quickly, lose support, and even tear apart under their weight or claws.
Choosing a durable and orthopedic dog bed helps ensure your pup gets the joint support they need—especially important for older or arthritic dogs.
What to Look for in Durable Dog Beds for Large Breeds
When buying a heavy-duty dog bed, consider the following features for maximum comfort and longevity:
1. Orthopedic Support Foam
Large dogs often suffer from hip dysplasia or arthritis, so memory foam dog beds provide the joint support they need. High-density foam won’t flatten over time and keeps your dog comfortable during long naps.
2. Tear-Resistant Materials
Look for beds with ballistic nylon, canvas, or ripstop fabrics that can resist digging, scratching, and light chewing. These are ideal chew-proof beds for large dogs.
3. Waterproof and Machine-Washable Covers
Accidents happen. Choose beds with removable, washable covers that are also waterproof to protect the inner foam.
4. Raised or Cot-Style Options
Elevated dog beds are great for airflow, especially in warmer climates. They also reduce pressure on joints and keep your pet off hard surfaces.
5. Non-Slip Base
Large dogs move with force. A non-slip base prevents the bed from sliding on hardwood or tile floors.

Use odor-neutralizing sprays if your pet sweats a lot
Rotate the bed occasionally to even out wear
How to Choose the Right Size Bed for Large Dogs
Measure your dog from nose to tail while lying down and add 8–12 inches. This ensures they can stretch out comfortably. Most brands offer XL or Jumbo sizes specifically for large and giant breeds.
Mistakes to Avoid When Buying a Large Dog Bed
Choosing the wrong size (always measure first)
Ignoring the dog's health needs (skip thin foam)
Focusing only on aesthetics over functionality
Not checking washability or warranty policies
