The Trump-backed ReAwaken America tour is holding an event in Michigan this week that will feature numerous speakers with histories of anti-Muslim rhetoric. Those commentators have said that “Fear of Muslims is RATIONAL,” bragged about helping Trump with his “Muslim ban,” and claimed that “Muslims are stockpiling weapons in Islamic centers.” They have claimed that “Islam is a terrorist organization,” that “Islam has been and remains the GREATEST threat to the Western Civilization,” and that ”Islam IS NOT our friend." 

The ReAwaken America tour will be held in Sterling Heights, Michigan, on June 7 and 8. An online itinerary states that numerous Trump allies will speak at the event, including son Eric Trump; former Trump Defense Department official Kash Patel; former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani; RNC attorney Christina Bobb; Trump attorney Alina Habba; and longtime ally Roger Stone. Tour host Clay Clark has specifically touted his events as closely tied to Trump, stating that “Eric Trump is a good friend of mine” and “it's exciting … that Trump's inner circle is now going, they're all reaching out to our tour, to the ReAwaken America tour, to Gen. Flynn, to myself, to Kash Patel. And they're all saying, hey, can we come to the tour?” During a promotional appearance last month, Clark said “Trump’s entire inner circle will be there” at the Michigan event. 

The pro-Trump and Christian Nationalist ReAwaken America Tour is visiting Michigan this weekend, and several speakers-- including Greg Locke, Michael Flynn, and Jackson Lahmeyer-- have had a history of pushing Islamophobic attacks against Islam.

Cosentino: "I mean, on the one hand, I understand why it happened, because it was such a part of the aesthetic. I was also really outspoken at that time about smoking a lot of weed and loving my cat as much as I did and all that stuff."

Bruno: "You never know when you make something what things people are going to latch on to from it. Smoking weed became one of the things — which is funny because I don’t even smoke weed."

ROLLING STONE: "I feel like 2010 was basically just all about weed and cats anyway. It was so different from now."

Cosentino: "That’s something I’ve been thinking a lot — realizing that this is coming up on a decade [since the debut]. Like, holy shit, it’s just so different — not just the politics and the environment but the way that music comes out and artists are discovered, the way that records are digested."

ROLLING STONE: "I feel like back then you had more room, too, to be sad about boys and smaller issues."

Cosentino: "Yeah, if I put this record out now, I probably would get people going, “What the hell is this? There’s more important shit to complain about.” This record came out at a time where you had more room to just marinate on this shady guy who won’t text you back."

Roger M. Bobb to direct Hallmark Mahogany adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility with an all-black cast.

The period film which takes place in the early 19th century follows the two Dashwood sisters Elinore and Marianne and their widowed mother as they are forced to leave their rich family estate at Norland Park and move to Barton Cottage, a modest home on the property of distant relative. There Elinor and Marianne experience love, romance, and heartbreak while dealing with their new found poverty. 

The film stars Deborah Ayorinde (as Elinor Dashwood) Bethany Antonia (as Marianne Dashwood), Akil Largie (as Colonel Brandon), Victor Hugo (as John Willoughby), Martina Laird (as Mrs Jennings) and Victoria Ekanoye (as Lucy Steele). 

Executive Producers are Toni Judkins and Tia Smith. Filming locations are Bulgaria, Ireland and London. Sources say that Hallmark is devoting considerable resources on this first of it’s kind production which is slated to be released in February 2024.

Commentator Ian Smith has shared material denying the Holocaust, defended Nazis as simply “protecting their sovereignty,” said World War II was actually “engineered White genocide facilitated by international usurers,” and attacked Jewish people for being behind “all of these things that are used to control us.” Trump National Doral Miami recently welcomed him as a speaker alongside key Trump officials, including Eric Trump.  As Media Matters previously reported, Trump’s Miami resort hosted the ReAwaken America tour last Friday and Saturday. Among the speakers were Eric and Lara Trump; Trump lawyers Christina Bobb and Alina Habba; former Trump national security adviser Mike Flynn; former Trump economic adviser Peter Navarro; longtime Trump adviser Roger Stone; and former senior Trump Defense Department official Kash Patel. 

All of them appeared at an event that also featured Ian Smith, a virulent antisemite. Specifically: 

Smith has posted content denying the Holocaust. 

Smith endorsed Europa: The Last Battle, an antisemitic movie that defends Nazis and portrays Hitler as “only trying to save Germany from the Jews.” 

Smith defended Nazis as only “protecting their sovereignty” from Jewish people.  

Smith alleged that Jewish people are behind “all of these things that are used to control us,” including banking, the media, pornography, and Hollywood. He also said that “everybody that he [Biden] surrounds himself with is Jewish.”

Smith shared a meme stating that “all this woke stuff” is actually “coming from Jews.” 

Smith said of World War II: “Let’s stop pretending that World War I and II were some heroic tales of the Allies saving the world from the boogeyman and call them what they really were - engineered White genocide facilitated by international usurers who needed gut the White world from the inside to keep up their parasitic lifestyle.” He also wrote: “If the good guys won World War 1 and 2, then why is the world being ruled by a bunch of self-appointed Bolshevik organizations like WHO, UN, WEF?” 

Smith responded to a meme about the “enemy” with a symbol used to indicate Jewish people.

In 2007, Smith killed someone while driving drunk. In 2022, he was arrested for driving under the influence again. That charge was dropped and Smith instead pleaded guilty over his “refusal to take a breathalyzer test and careless driving.”  Media Matters documented Smith’s antisemitism prior to the start of the Trump Doral event. The tour still went ahead with his speech, with organizer Clay Clark defending him. He stated: “Our next presenter is a victim of a lot of hit pieces in the last 24 hours. … I called him last night and I said, ‘The media's coming after you.’ I'm super excited to have him on the stage. And the reason why the media comes after this guy is because he unapologetically celebrates what it means to be an American. He loves our country.”

Eric Trump has appeared alongside at least four Hitler-promoting antisemites on the tour. In addition to Smith, they are: 

Jason Dean, who has said that he has “NEVER been able to buy the Hilter/Nazi ‘Official Story’” and praised Adolf Hitler for having a “vision” and wanting “to straighten everything out” but “the bankers got him.”  

Scott McKay, who has said that “Hitler was actually fighting the same people that we're trying to take down today.” He’s also claimed Jewish people orchestrated 9/11 and presidential assassinations and said Jewish people torture and eat children. 

Charlie Ward, who has shared posts praising Hitler for supposedly “warning us” about Judaism; claiming that “VIRUSES are Man (JEW) made”; and attacking the alleged Jewish media for supposedly lying about the Holocaust. 

While those three were removed from the tour after Media Matters revealed their antisemitic remarks, Smith will apparently continue his involvement with the Trump-backed tour. 

The Trump Doral National in Miami was home to the far-right conspiracy theorist convention called the ReAwaken America Tour.

It welcomed antisemite Ian Smith to the event.

"The first BEST COAST record was recorded in two weeks. We worked with this producer Lewis Pesacov, who we knew in LA, and we recorded it in a studio space that was in a practice space in LA, which is now, I believe, being torn down to put high-rise apartments or some shit. But we literally made it in two weeks. We did not have a lot of money. We were not signed to a label. We just were like, “All right, we’re going to go in, we’re going to do this.”

Then we left for SXSW, and we were one of the big, hyped bands that year. The record that we made – the sound, the aesthetic, everything – was sonically based off of the resources that we had. Part of it was intentional because we were trying to replicate a sound that we liked, and we were huge fans of Phil Spector – Phil Spector’s music, not horrid Phil Spector [the person]. So when the record became as successful as it did, nobody expected that. None of us. I don’t even think our label expected that. I think Mexican Summer was, and they were such a good label, because they were boutique. It wasn’t like signing my life over to a major label that was going to do the thing that I worried about when I was 16."
