”Say hi to God.”

Those were the last words Veronica had uttered to her fated and psychotic boyfriend Jason Dean all of those years ago, but they still echo in her mind on repeat.

“Hey Ronnie, wake up.” Veronica’s husband was a very kind man, and more importantly, normal. He was an accountant at the local bank and volunteered at the animal shelter when needed, he was perfectly normal, and that’s what Veronica liked most about him, he was transparent and honest, no matter what. Hell, even his name is normal, Micheal Johnston.

“I am up.” Veronica shot him a glare from the other side of the bed. It was no secret that she doesn’t sleep at night, which led to Micheal dragging her to the doctor a few months after they got married, she got diagnosed with Insomnia, which on top of her nightmares, made it impossible for her to sleep at night.

Micheal gave her a sympathetic smile. “I know, and I’m sorry honey. But you have to go to work.” Veronica sighed and reluctantly got out of bed. His eyes trailed her figure as she went into the bathroom. Veronica closes the door to the bathroom and turns the shower on, as she does everyday as a desperate attempt to wake up. She quickly discards her pajama onto the floor and steps into the shower. She stands under the shower head, willing the water to wash away her dream. Then she scrubs her skin hard, hoping that the soap will clean her soul and conscious.

“Say hi to God…” Veronica shudders at those four words. The four words that she cannot ever get away from, no matter how many times she showers away the truth, no matter how many times she hides in her normal suburban home, and no matter how many times she kisses her husband and daughter good night, she can never escape her past, and she knows it.

Veronica steps out of the shower and begins to dry off, but not before looking into the mirror. There was a time in her high school career that she would spend hours in front of a mirror, making sure she was perfect for the Heathers, but now? Now she is lucky that she wakes up in time for work and wearing matching socks. When she comes down the stairs all dressed and ready for work, her heart practically stops at the sight in front of her. Micheal and Elizabeth playing dress up in the living room. She walks into the room and smiles at the sight.

“Momma!” Before Veronica knew what was happening, Elizabeth is barreling towards her and hugs her very tightly. “Hey Lizzie!” Veronica hugged her back just as hard and strokes the top of her head. Veronica never let her know what went on in the night, how she could never sleep from her nightmares, to Elizabeth, Veronica was just her hero, and that’s how Veronica wants it to stay.

“Did you have a good sleep honey?” Veronica asked Elizabeth, playing with her hair. “Yeah! I dreamed that I was a princess that could ride on a unicorn!” Veronica watches as the young girl tries to reenact the dream on the couch, trying to use her poor father as a substitute unicorn. “Giddy up Mr. Unicorn.” Veronica says laughing at him. Micheal sticks his tongue out at her playfully and begins to carry Lizzie around the room like a princess on a horse.

“Come on Mamma!” Suddenly, Veronica was part of the rodeo to because she found herself laying on the floor with Micheal and Lizzie on top of her. Lizzie was saying something about having to command her now because she is a princess, and Micheal was neighing in her ear like a horse.

Veronica slowly gets up. “Sorry Your Highness, and Mr. Unicorn, I have to get to work.” The pair on the floor look a little sad. “But Momma…” Lizzie began. Veronica bends down to her level. “I’ll be back before you know it, okay?” She sighs. “Okay Momma.” Veronica smiles at her and kisses Micheal on the cheek, resulting in Lizzie scrunching up her nose in disgust. “Now go get ready for school, kindergarten is waiting for you Liz.” She kisses Lizzie on the cheek as well then walks out the door that leads into her garage where her car is parked. But when Veronica climbs into the car, she could have sworn that she could see in her mirror, just for a split second, a figure in a red bathrobe and slightly blue lips…

I went back and reread basically everything under the Echo tag after reading the final chapter and now I have Alpha!dad Jake on the brain. ☺️

So I've just been thinking a lot about Jake holding each of their babies for the first time, especially when Maisie comes along. Like, you know Jake is a hands on dad with their first two, but when his first baby girl comes along??? Something in him just switches on and he becomes the ultimate girl dad. And yes, I was totally inspired by the tags you wrote on that one post!

(Side bar- you know Maisie, Aurora, and Delaney have the absolute highest of standards when it comes to men because they grow up with a dad that shows them how a man should treat the women in his life. They watched him treat their mother like an absolute queen and he treated them as his more than capable princesses. And you know he taught his boys the same thing.)

He lets Maisie cover his lunch box or coffee thermos with sparkling unicorn stickers because he knows how happy it makes her, he starts forming opinions on Disney princesses, he learns how to do her hair, he brings her (and Ronnie) little bouquets wildflowers because he loves the smiles on their faces when he does, he bakes cookies & cupcakes with her, they have daddy/daughter picnics/hikes/fishing days, he starts caring around extra hair ties & clips.

Basically, just girl dad Jake. 😭🥰

GIRL DAD JAAAAKKKKEEEEE

god, i've been wanting to talk about the kids some more and i can always count on you indy. you know i can talk about this family for days.

God, yes, Maisie changes everything for Jake. He's an amazing father. But fathering a girl is just different. I can just imagine the look on his face when the midwife announces it's a little girl. Ronnie is just like "ugh FINALLY". And when he holds her for the first time 🥺🥺

And all three of the girls are so different from one another!

Maisie - very quiet, thinks before she acts on anything, introspective, imaginative, and when she's older she is very interested in woodworking and making things with her hands like her dad!

Aurora - the sweetest of the three girls and straight up like a Disney princess. she likes to help around the house and pick flowers for her parents and rescue little animals she finds in the woods. she'll just randomly walk up to Jake with a little bird in her hand with a broken wing and look at him like "daddy fix him 🥺". Jake has had to learn some vet medicine rather quickly cause he can't let his little girl down.

Delaney - the absolute wild child of the family. she's loud, she likes to roll around in mud, wrestle any of her siblings, jump off of stuff, and run through the woods. she doesn't care about getting dirty and she doesn't care about getting hurt. she does it all with a bright smile and a huge laugh playing on her lips because that's what's fun to her.

and Jake definitely takes the time to spend with each of his kids individually. While group activities are fun, getting to spend quality time alone with dad without anyone else around is just special. I love that.

ൠ - Prince Fang

I have no clue who or what this guy is but he sounds like a bastard and I like the bastards.

ൠ - random headcanon

TYSM! Since he’s pretty underdeveloped, I’m gonna be talking for awhile.

Prince Fang, a dragon who’s royal family has conquered multiple dimensions and has a massive army, is the megalomaniac ruler of the 13th dimension who’s abilities include stealing souls and weaknesses is specifically rust (this is canon and i state it only to give context ^^).

I headcanon that the main reason he keeps interacting with our dimension at all is because he has beef with it. Whether it be with the gods who used to manage it, the Acachalla family as a group, or Papa and Spencer specifically— SOMEONE is getting on his nerves accidentally making them the both last line of defense against prince fang… and possibly the reason why he ends up blowing up the Earth.

I also think that while he can worm between dimensions pretty easily, he needs a portal to bring his army through, and dimensional travel weakens him immensely. So his main goal with the Acachallas is to get their microwave since it can become a portal if left on for too long. Because it’s a hc of mine that the acachallas are supposed to guard said microwave bc of that ability, I also think that he’s had experiences trying to undercut the Acachallas for a super, super long time. So he’s probably met Jeremy. And Maxwell back when he was alive.

Prince Fang knows of PIE, but it’s in the same way an eagle may consider a beehive. Sure, it’s there, and it’s an meager source of continuous food, but it’s ultimately more trouble than it’s worse and it’s better to just harass the weak ones when they’re too far to call for help. RIP Ronnie Boast. As for PIE, they recognize him as a threat and a catalyst for danger.

The Thirteen Dimension has become incredibly dangerous under him, and probably a majority of issues including denizens originally from the 13th Dimension are bc they were trying to escape his rulership. This includes ALL UNICORNS.. which also means that unicorns tend to panic and go feral when they see dragons. Because most dragons are either in alignment with prince fang or were turned into dragons so they could be CONTROLLED by prince fang. Either one is Not Good.

He likes hurting people, sees the world as his for the taking and his right to control, and he wants to see everything he can’t puppet get burnt to the ground. Only reason he doesn’t align with the housekeeper is because he sees himself as above the gods. His family might’ve even had a hand in striking down the Mighty Spence.

Long story short, he’s pretty much evil.
