rebrand content predictions
i say "predictions" in heavy air-quotes, it's really more of a pleading poke and a nudge to the universe, but there's 3 things of varying likelihood i would love to see in the new era below the cut. walk with me
REBRAND TRAILER (most likely) ooooo you wanna do another goofy trailer soooo bad. you wanna do more silly short film content soooo baddd the revival one was such a blast, and the sequel/subversion potential is Right There. listen i know deifying me as a prophet with my screenplay "pitch" (read: poorly disguised fanfic) might have its challenges, but consider: it would be so awesome. it would be so cool
PODCAST/STREAMING (plausible. here's how phodcast can still win. kind of) listen. now hear me out. i've been on team longform yapcast from day one, and i know plenty of other monologue-loving roombas feel the same. BUT. i feel like (assuming their setup doesnt go on the fritz) semi-consistent streaming (with uploaded/edited VODS) could scratch the same itch, hence why i lump them together. here's what i'm squinking. all the cool stuff they got to do with radio 1... BUT. full creative control. it's hot. its vogue. its full-circle. its got endless possibilities for segments and games and... dare i say... audience engagement.... imagine, if you will... similar formatting and segment ideas to my beloved dystopia daily... but live, on-stream, and with phil's brilliant mind manning the fun little games and tonal balance. bespoke activity area i miss you every day
DAN AND PHIL TRY ___ (not impossible, but of the three, my least likely hail mary) for those familiar, think something vaguely akin to The Grumps' Ten Minute Power Hour series, or something like Unus Annus (especially the ones where they go outside and goof off). for those not, imagine a sort of reclamation of the II era-- the "giving the people what they want" style of content. this time around, the guys challenge themselves to do stupid shit (like conjoined baking and codependency yoga) on their own terms. they're giving the people what they want. said stupid shit could be as small as trying food they've never had before or as ambitious as... i dunno. mini golf. naturally though, each video would have its own spin, and one unique to them. suffice to say. this would be beast as hell
that all being said, i love them, which means i love everything they make. i mean it with my whole fart when i say nothing they do in this new era content-wise would even remotely disappoint me-- i'm all over that shit, whatever it looks like. between both of their creative prowess, they've more than earned my excitement <3 phrebrand, i await you with open arms <3

Those who came to the stream were greeted to an interesting sight. And not just the large stack of various boxes labeled 'Christmas/Winter' either.
Mikey is sitting on top of a stack of precariously placed chairs, boxes, and a few wooden planks. On top of multiple spread out drop cloths.
What was he doing on top of this stack? Painting the ceiling.
The audience sadly can't see what Mikey is painting, and he isn't telling them either.
Though he was chatting with them while doing so. Leaving them to guess based off of the colors used.
"While we don't really follow other VTubers, it's kinda impossible to not hear about things that go on, and I don't just mean some drama. I'm talking about those fancy full body mobile screens that came out more recently. Though Dee says they're kinda impressed, they don't trust leaving the thing alone at an event."
Mikey pauses to lean back a bit to look at his progress, "I need to grab some more Starry Blue, and Glow paints. BRB!" He then jumped off the pile, without knocking it over somehow, and went to grab the paints he wanted.
Suddenly the infamous Roomba started up, going slowly along the edge of the studio. The audience watched what they could of its movement, because they couldn't move the camera, no matter how much they wanted too.
They watch as the Roomba gets close to the stack of makeshift scaffolding, only for an orange blur to appear and smack the Roomba into going a different direction.
The orange blur turned out to be a lovely orange cat, known to many as Sunny.
So of course the chat is filled with many cat emojis, 'shouts' of Kitty!, and 'cat streams!'
Sunny prowls around making sure the Roomba doesn't get close again.
A few minutes later Mikey returns with multiple containers of paint, "Sorry that took so long. I had to mix some of these myself and that takes so much time. Hey Sunny! How's the most beautiful kitty doing today?"
He puts the paints down and gives the Kitty some pets, scratches, and quickly grabbed her a treat in the form of a big piece of dehydrated meat. Sunny accepted the offering and continued to keep watch for the Roomba.
Mikey grabs the Paints and gets back up the stack to continue with his ceiling mural.
"Yeah, Dee barely trusted having their 'small scale' setup at the Convention we did, especially after all those stories of theft that was going on at other events. Though given they put tracking devices on pretty much everything, the thieves wouldn't get far. Though getting Dee to not harm them will be the real hard part."
There are multiple emojis being thrown about like 'CainInstinctDee', 'DeeBite', 'FeralDee', though some newer people were a little confused.
Mikey moves over a bit to work on the next spot, taking care to watch his footing, while also freaking the hell out of some people watching that didn't trust the construction of the stack.
"This part is actually pretty much done, so in a few minutes I gotta move this over a few feet." Mikey says while crouching down and looking at his 'scaffolding', "I never planned on this kind of thing, so we don't have a 'scissor lift' that would make this so much easier."
The stream then watched Mikey dismantle the stack, and put it back together about 4 feet to the left. And continue with his painting while chatting with the audience.

Dirt Dog (model 1100) by iRobot, Bedford, MA (2006). The Dirt Dog is designed for heavy duty cleaning in home workshops and garages. The main difference between Dirt Dog and its Roomba cousins is that it has no vacuum, "it uses only brushes as the pickup and it has a very simple interface, there is only a single button on the unit. Under the unit are a set of two brushes about 6" wide (one behind the other) to throw debris into it's on-board bin and a single 5" wand on the side to move material from the edge towards the center for pickup, this is what enables the unit to clean near walls and other impediments. There are two knobby drive wheels to allow it to climb over some items such as floor mats and such." – iRobot Dirt Dog, by Phil Bumbalough.
In fact, the original Roomba was not envisaged to have a vacuum at all. "A few months from product launch, we demonstrated one of our prototypes to a focus group. The setup was classical: A facilitator presented Roomba to a cross section of potential customers while the engineers watched from a darkened room behind a one-way mirror. The session was going well, people seemed to like the robot and it picked up test dirt effectively. Then the facilitator mentioned that Roomba used a carpet sweeper mechanism and did not include a vacuum. The mood changed. Our test group revised the price they’d be willing to pay for Roomba, cutting in half their estimate from only minutes earlier. We designers were perplexed. We solved our energy problem by eschewing a vacuum in favor of a carpet sweeper—and it worked! Why wasn’t that enough for the focus group? Decades of advertising have trained consumers that a vacuum drawing lots of amps means effective cleaning. We wanted customers to judge our new technology using a more appropriate metric. But there was no realistic way to accomplish that. Instead, our project manager declared, “Roomba must have a vacuum, even if it does nothing.” " – Don’t Fear the Robot, by Joe Jones.

My Xmas/Birthday/Housewarming gift from my folks was a roomba. [*ecstatic applause!!!*] [*swooning with gratitude!!!*]
As part of the setup, my robot vacuum has to "map" my house. All my little furniture is piled on my big furniture like the floor is lava. Me & Jigglebutter are hiding our toes up on the sofa. In the distance, Meryl Sweep the Roomba enthusiastically bounces off every surface in the house.
Bonk Bonk Bonk... truly, this is the sound of intrepidatious discovery and the march of progress. Bonk Bonk Bonk whirrrrr.

Latest AI Technology in Smart Homes & IoT Devices: How Artificial Intelligence is Revolutionizing Our Daily Life
Tumblr media
Imagine waking up to your coffee brewing on its own, the curtains gently pulling back to let in natural light, and your favorite morning playlist already playing — all without lifting a finger. Welcome to the world of AI-powered smart homes, where artificial intelligence technology is not just a concept of the future — it's already reshaping how we live.
From smart thermostats to voice-controlled IoT devices, the integration of AI technology in our homes is making daily life more efficient, secure, and even more enjoyable. In this blog, we’ll explore the latest developments in artificial ai and AI tools that are enhancing smart home automation like never before.
🔍 What is AI in Smart Homes?
Artificial intelligence (AI) in smart homes refers to the use of machine learning and intelligent algorithms that allow home devices to make decisions, learn preferences, and automate tasks without constant human input.
These systems collect data, analyze usage behavior, and then use this information to improve performance — whether that’s adjusting lighting based on your mood or optimizing energy consumption throughout the day.
🏠 Top Smart Home Devices Powered by Artificial Intelligence Technology
Tumblr media
Let’s look at some real-world AI tools making a difference in smart homes today:
1. AI Smart Assistants (e.g., Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri)
These assistants use natural language processing (NLP), a subfield of artificial intelligence, to understand and respond to voice commands. Whether it’s controlling lights, setting reminders, or playing music, they’re the heart of any smart home setup.
2. Smart Thermostats (e.g., Nest, Ecobee)
Modern thermostats use AI algorithms to learn your temperature preferences over time and adjust settings automatically — saving both energy and money.
3. AI-Powered Security Cameras
AI technology in surveillance systems can now detect unusual behavior, recognize faces, and even differentiate between pets, people, or strangers. Some can send real-time alerts to your phone if something seems off.
4. Robot Vacuum Cleaners (e.g., Roomba with AI)
These intelligent cleaning assistants map out your home using sensors and AI to clean efficiently, avoid obstacles, and remember where messes usually occur.
5. Smart Lighting Systems
Smart lighting systems now use artificial intelligence to adjust brightness and color temperature depending on the time of day or your activity.
🤖 How IoT and AI Work Together
The Internet of Things (IoT) connects devices via the internet, enabling them to communicate and operate together. When AI tools are integrated into these devices, they don't just respond—they learn.
For example, your smart refrigerator can now track your grocery inventory and suggest recipes or even place an order when items run low — all using AI.
Another use case: a smart speaker connected to motion sensors might recognize you’ve left the house and trigger a home-lockdown protocol — locking doors, turning off lights, and lowering the thermostat.
This combination of IoT and artificial intelligence technology is what truly makes a smart home intelligent.
🌟 Benefits of Artificial Intelligence in Smart Homes
Here’s how AI technology is changing the game:
✔️ Automation and Convenience
AI makes it easy to automate repetitive tasks like turning off lights or adjusting the AC — saving you time and effort.
✔️ Personalization
AI adapts to your lifestyle. For instance, smart speakers can curate music based on your mood or suggest shows based on your viewing history.
✔️ Energy Efficiency
Smart AI devices optimize energy usage by predicting your habits. Smart bulbs and thermostats, for example, adjust usage based on presence or absence.
✔️ Improved Security
With AI-powered surveillance, you can receive real-time alerts, facial recognition, and predictive threat analysis for better safety.
🌐 AI Tools That Developers Are Using for Smart Home Innovation
Tumblr media
Many artificial ai tools are being used behind the scenes to bring these innovations to life. Here are a few popular ones:
TensorFlow: An open-source machine learning library used for voice recognition, automation, and data analysis.
Amazon SageMaker: Powers AI services like Alexa and provides tools to train and deploy machine learning models.
OpenAI (like ChatGPT): Used for developing conversational interfaces and smarter voice assistants.
Edge AI: Allows processing to happen locally on the device (rather than on the cloud), reducing latency and increasing response speed.
🔮 The Future of AI in Smart Homes & IoT Devices
As AI technology continues to evolve, the future holds even more potential:
Emotion recognition: Lights, music, and climate that adjust based on your mood.
Predictive maintenance: Devices that alert you before they break down.
Full-home AI ecosystems: Seamless integration of all home functions under one intelligent assistant.
With artificial intelligence becoming more accessible, even budget-friendly smart devices will soon have advanced features once reserved for high-end products.
🧠 Final Thoughts: Living Smarter, Not Harder
The fusion of artificial intelligence technology and IoT has brought us into a new era where our homes are no longer just living spaces—they’re intelligent companions that adapt, protect, and serve. From enhanced convenience and energy savings to increased security and comfort, the benefits are clear.
As more AI tools emerge and integration becomes smoother, the smart homes of tomorrow will be even more intuitive, predictive, and human-centric.
So whether you’re tech-savvy or just beginning to explore the world of smart home automation, the future is knocking—smartly, of course

A stream is starting. Shelldon and River are sitting up front while the set and everything gets set up. Donnies model pops in in his purple hoodie, mask with science charms, and wraps.
Donnie: So today we aren't going to play anything just yet. There is a planned update that needs to be made for future plans, like some camera quality issues with our event setup. Yeah we keep getting invitations to events, but we don't know the overall size of some, next to how many of you would want to attend.
Shelldon: Taday Dee is going to explain Us!
River: Or at least as much as he can because we're technically WIP!
Chat is very excited, more lore, and maybe some explanations for the robots.
Donnie: Yes, of course. Now River, we will be covering Shelldon first so..
River: I get sit over there and read!
River zips off to the side with her light screen popping up.
Donnie: Okay. Well Shelldon is my first Pride and Joy. He was first created as a base assistant AI program, that turned into a, well if you've ever heard of an old movie called 'Smart House' you get the idea, he sent a roomba army against us because he got annoyed.
Shelldon looks very proud of himself. There is some confusion in the chat, partially from how an assistant AI turned into Shelldon, and partially because not many knew what movie he's talking about.
Donnie: Now Shelldon is somewhat more mature, but he loves drone racing, playing games, some pranks, but ar least he isn't acting like a rebellious teenager anymore. He got some control of a drone and kind of 'ran away', I got him to come back, but not until we had a session with Dr. Feelings. Shudder.
Shelldon looks a little annoyed, giving a small 'Hey' at the more mature line. Donnie talks a little more about designing Shelldons look, 'picking up' his model and showing off details, and explaining some of the design. He lets Shelldon go when he's done to move on.
Then he tries to signal River that it's their turn. River is really into whatever they're reading. Shelldon moves over and pokes River to get their attention. River jolts a little, then moves to the center, while Shelldon rests to the side.
Donnie: Now River was a more recent decision, and when working on her AI, I planned to have her be more pop culture savvy... then I let her have access to a library of ebooks, and a couple slightly restricted streaming services, some games...
Donnie with an exasperated look on his face while looking at River who looks very happy.
Donnie: She refused to leave the virtual library for hours. She's still very into her job of 'knocking out' BOTs, but now that she knows she can read in the middle of streams, I had to give her insensitive to pay attention.
River: For every 10 BOTs I knock out I get a new Book!
Donnie: Yes, more books for a bookworm robot turtle. Anyway while Shelldon is Sea Turtle inspired, I wanted to make River more Softshell inspired. While teal isn't usually a first choice of color, it looks good against purple, and was good against my brothers colors!
Donnie 'lifts' River to show some details.
Donnie: Her shell is more flat, and the glowing spots were a decision based more for the Vtuber model appeal. But her head is purposefully triangular, and slightly conical to more resemble the head of a Softshell turtle. The Harisen was mainly for comedic effect, and the visual effect of her smacking the chat box was very amusing.
Donnie sets River down, and checked something off to the side.
Donnie: We will be moving onto explaining some future plans for what Shelldon and River will be able to do in streams.
And the stream goes on, chat giving mixed feedback on some of the ideas. Though when put up some concept Images for the ideas, chat got pretty excited, and some glad to hear about possible future streams.
