I miss the days when all I could think about was the Renegade trilogy, nothing mattered to me the most than them, I miss how obsessed I was with them, I miss all the feelings they put me through, I miss the excitement and emotion I feel because of them, it's been more than a year and a half since I read them and I can't find anything that will ever compare to them. I'm still not over them, and the hope that we might get a spin-off keeps me from crying myself to sleep.

I wish I could go back to that time and never return.

Every year the Everharts have a vacation for summer and Nova joins them

Nova pushes Adrian to the pool and then he pulls Nova with him

Oscar plays in the pool like a little kid and Ruby loves it (even though she says it’s annoying)

I just tore through the whole trilogy this week and since Marissa Meyer has officially said there isn't any new Renegades content coming any time soon, I'm ITCHING to write a post-supernova pre-epilogue fic.

Like I just HAVE to know about Nova's complex grief over losing the anarchists despite them being a pretty shit family and her developing relationship with Adrian and reconciling with the rest of the team. And also society and the Renegades restructuring etc etc etc.

And all the fun silly things too!! Max finally being able to be a normal kid. Sterling and Jade are PRODIGIES now!!! That is one thing I haven't figured out is what would all these new abilities be??

But anyway PLEASE tell me people are still interested in the Renegades trilogy because I've already started plotting out so much of this fic and looked through a ton of old stuff in the tags on tumblr and ao3

Very much thinking about how the Renegades praise culture still had an effect on Maggie even she seemingly never felt highly of them

Because after relistening to the scene I the first book, where Team Sketch tell their traumatic backstories in a super romanticized way, it's very similar to the way Maggie views her backstory.

Ruby and Oscar both went through something that nearly killed them, in Oscar's case actually did kill him, and they are very nonchalant about it. Oscar more so but he is were I'm referencing how they romanticize these events

How this shows up in Maggie is how obsessed she is with her identity as a Survivor, how much of her identity revolves around that night, a night she can't even remember

And yeah, Oscar and Ruby probably got therapy and had support, so it would make sense they'd be more willing to talk about it. But Oscar at least is super excited to talk about 'oohhh what big traumatizing event gave you your powers' that makes me think of how their superhero society normalized that in the first place

I think Nova recognizes this in that scene, and gets put off by it even if not directly stated. And in that same chapter how she recollects how the Anarchists got excited with planning "Nova's first kill"

It contributes to how both sides have fucked up things that got normalized, and I'd argue they feed back into the same issue. An obsession with backstories, tragic ones. Maggie has it, Nova has it, Adrian, team sketch, gatlon city, everyone. It's everywhere.

Oscar implies that ppl can get invested enough in heroes to want to make comic books of their origins, and it calls into question the nosiness in their culture, how romanticized being a superhero is. Like the idea of a glorified superhero not wanting to disclose traumatic events in their life is uncommon.

Both the renegades and anarchists could fall under the culture of romanticizing aspects that shouldn't be romanticized, but they do contrast when it comes to privacy. Anarchists are secretive, they keep to themselves and their motto reiterates to prioritize yourself over others. And I think that's interesting. Dunno how much of this was intentional but there's something here

And side note: relistening to Oscar recount his backstory, really makes me wonder just how close he was to going down a path like Maggie's. Killed at a young age, miraculously brought back because of their power, imagine if the renegades HADNT been there. Like the renegades weren't there for the artinos

Idk if anyone had noticed this before, but in Renegades, Adrian, Ruby, and Oscar are giving Nova de tour around hq, Nova is faking smiles and being happy and all that stuff, but the moment in where she meets Max and they start talking, the description is "Nova smile. Maybe it was the first real smile that crosses her face in all the day" or something like that, the point is, she loves Max with all her heart and it was always clear. And I just wanna put this out, bc how cute is that.

I need more interactions between them, I feel like Nova, Adrian, and Max (maybe even the rest of the gang) would cause so much headache to Simon and Hugh
