Very niche exploration of how Elementals function in the Monkey Talk AU. Little guys that are very prevalent on the island during MS, MD time when it was teeming with mythical creatures and demons. This is not at all important to the overall plot, just a bit of worldbuilding. Elementals have only ever been mentioned in passing with no detail about what they are.
The Elements in this AU are based on Wǔxíng and are Earth, Metal, Fire, Water and Wood.

The purest forms of an elemental are almost completely indistinguishable from their element - to the point where your average person could mine a Metal Elemental, have it forged into a sword and not realise there was something special about it, a very skilled blacksmith would know however and depending on how superstitious they were, refuse to work with it.
If you did manage to get a hold of an Elemental and knew what you were doing they can be all sorts of use for magic.
The purest forms generally can't be found outside of their element - Wood Elementals (TE) will be attached to trees and look like small branches, Metal Elementals (ME) will be attached to unprocessed ore and look exactly like that ore, Earth Elementals (EE) will be found buried deep underground and look like stones, Fire Elementals (FE) look like flames and only exist within fire, and Water Elementals (WE) are near translucent wobbly spheres that can be found in bodies of water.
But things get a little bit more interesting when a little bit of soul has been introduced. The more soul, the less pure the Elemental but the more complex the creature.
Simple FEs will travel to find more fire, or other FE's, if the fire they were occupying goes out. They burn little trails across the terrain as they go - they are rarely capable of starting big fires by themselves but it's not impossible given the right conditions.
Simple EEs want to be as deep in the earth as possible but have very limited movement, made even more difficult if they are in the form of an awkward stone, their only real way of moving is to vibrate/shake. If they have sharper edges and the ground below them is soft then it can be enough for them to sort of "burrow", if they're rounded it might cause them to roll around instead. Once deep enough they lie dormant.
Simple TEs form symbiotic relationships with certain bugs to create literal stick instincts. The TE will provide a home as well as nutritious sap for the bug, and the bug provides transportation if the host tree of the TE is dying. The bug will break off the TE by chewing along where it is connected before carrying (or wearing it) to another tree where the TE will attach itself.
Simple WEs are drawn to movement - while pure WEs just move passively with the water around them, simple WEs actively seek out whirlpools, rivers, currents. Simple WEs will merge to create bigger Simple WEs but they are often separated into smaller forms again by powerful forces such as whirlpools.
Simple MEs have different properties depending on the metal they are made of - Simple MEs want to be a stable, solid form and will strive to find the conditions this is possible. When in a molten form they will "slither" as best as they can in that form in the direction of the correct temperature and pressure to become solid.
Simple Elementals are also useful for magic but some have historically been used as guides/indicators for particular conditions. For example, some water demons have been said to use Simple WEs to avoid dangerous waters and fruit farmers have used Simple TEs for monitoring the health of their orchards.
Like MEs, other Simple Elementals have variant forms.
Simple WEs can exist in solid and gaseous states - taking the form of ice and clouds respectively.
Like Simple EEs, Ice Elementals have limited mobility but they do have the advantage of being able to slide and depending on whether there is still liquid at their core they do have some control over this. Once they are completely frozen however movement can slow to the speed of a glacier.
Similarly to Liquid WEs, as Clouds they seek out movement - hurricanes, air currents, etc. but they are often caught up in the water cycle relatively quickly and turn back to water in the form of rain. If they fall on land, rather than water, they will move as a unit of droplets until they find a body of water where they can reform as a wobbly, rounded 3D shape.
Simple TEs variants are tied to the type of tree they are - i.e. oak, elm, pine, etc. - and generally they can only attach themselves to a tree of the correct genus however grafting onto different types of tree has been witnessed but it has been theorised this is a temporary measure, a pit stop, to finding the correct family of tree.
Simple EEs can take the form of various gems. The gems function much like Stone EEs but are generally considered rarer, and more valuable. Many claim that these Gem EEs have other special properties to them, but evidence to support this is inconclusive.
Another form of the EE is the Mud EE. Many tiny Mud EEs generally form colonies that are as a unit mistaken for one Mud EE. They are generally unable to move on their own, attaching themselves to burrowing insects and animals in order to seek out healthier soil to inhabit. It is considered a good sign if you have Mud EEs present in your garden. Some even believe they can improve the quality of soil and as such they are much sought after.
It is considerably difficult to identify Mud EEs however due to their lack of independent movement or distinctive features but there are numerous stories and myths with advice on how to spot one - some say you can use worms to track them, others insist that if you touch wet earth and the dirt immediately slides off your hand and leaves it clean then you've just touched a Mud EE.
Simple FEs have been known to burn unique colours and at different temperatures and these rare flames have often been valued as a part of sacred rituals for various peoples throughout history.
Complex Elementals are broken into many subclasses but at a high level are defined as Elementals that possess additional appendages and/or features that could be classified as organs - these do not have to share any resemblance to that of organs typically found in demons, animals or humans but some do and at that point there is some debate as to when a Complex Elemental is considered a demon, or if they even should be.
Examples of a relatively simple Complex Elemental include a Mud EE that has an approximation of arms that it uses to move by dragging itself across the surface or a fire elemental that physically "eats" the fuel needed to sustain it.
Some argue that a clear distinction between whether someone is a Complex Elemental or a demon is their ability to produce offspring, although this has been highly contested, but it does appear to be true that Pure and Simple Elementals cannot do this.
No-one knows what causes Pure, Simple and many Complex Elementals to form, though there are many myths and legends that purport to have the answer.
Some say they are blessings, or even the children, of the Spirits of Wǔxíng left behind to reward those that live in harmony with the elements and/or to repair damage that has been done by a lack of harmony.
Some suggest that they are kin to the Spirits - that the Spirits are no more than Complex Elementals themselves - and help maintain the very balance that all life depends on.
But no-one had ever credibly reported seeing these Elementals form. Plenty had seen them "die" - their forms disintegrating as their energy was used for a spell or potion but there seems to be no need for concern that they may become endangered.
Elementals have a wide variety of myth and superstition surrounding them and despite evidence that they have been around for millennia we still know so little about them.
Many people suggest that demon equivalent Complex Elementals, particularly those capable of speaking human and demon languages, may have the answers - either on a "biological" level that can be studied or as something they intuitively know and keep secret from the world. Many Complex Elementals have suffered in the name of "discovery".
The prejudice towards and exploitation of Complex Elementals is a topic all of its own however.

Wilhelm's still in the time loop
Simon gets plates while Wilhelm takes everything out of the bag. They’ve given them chopsticks even though they aren’t eating noodle soup. Who made the restaurant feel like they had to do that? That’s not how it’s eaten in Thailand. Wilhelm spoons out food onto each of their plates and sits back with his own. Simon puts his fork in his right hand, Wilhelm wonders if he should switch. If he wants to be a normal Swedish person, would that be the right way to do it, as opposed to the way his tutors drilled him on. The ambassador was hosting dinner and they had to be respectful. So Wilhelm learned. He knows he needs to unlearn a lot, is this one of those things? Simon’s friends have already teased him for holding cutlery in a pretentious way. 
He rubs his head.
Wilhelm washes the dishes while Simon puts the food away. They retreat to Simon’s bedroom. It’s easy to pass the time with Simon. He can lose hours just staring at him. They lie on the bed head to head, feet at opposite ends. It’s a new perspective on Simon’s face, upside down, but he’s still achingly familiar. 
Simon turns on his side and Wilhelm mirrors him. “Hi.”
A smile curls on Wilhelm’s lips. “Hi.”
“What’s the best thing that could happen to you today?” Simon asks. It’s a game that Linda started with Sara, apparently, but it’s caught on in their friend group. Felice and Wilhelm have a separate two-person chat that’s dedicated to this.
Wilhelm has an easy answer. He leans forward and kisses Simon. That’s the best thing that could happen.
When they break apart Simon mashes Wilhelm’s face with his hand. “Sap.”
Wilhelm doesn’t deny it. “Your turn.”
Simon purses his lips. The urge to kiss him again is irresistible, so Wilhelm doesn’t fight it. Then, Simon rolls onto his back. He puts his wrist on his forehead and the triangle his elbow makes to frame his face is the world’s most perfect geometry. “The best thing that could happen to me today is Mama and Sara show up with homemade pastries and we sit together and eat them and play a board game and we find out the state exams are cancelled so we plan a group trip somewhere warm instead.” Wilhelm wants this for him. Uncomplicated joy with his family. Simon turns his face. “Now you. A real go.”
Wilhelm’s throat closes up. The best thing that could happen to me today would be that yesterday never happened. Which from Simon’s perspective, it didn’t. Look at him, winning. But it was real for Wilhelm. He lived it. He clears his throat, coughing to force it open. “The best thing that could happen is…” fuck. He can do this. Nothing too desperate, nothing too needy, and nothing too depressing. Focus on what would actually be good. “The clouds clear and when we go outside after dark there’s a meteor shower and we get to watch it together.”
He checks Simon’s expression, after. He’s smiling at him warmly. “That sounds great.”

He wakes up in his bed. It’s the anniversary of Erik’s death. He exhales, pressing his head into the pillow. It was never going to be the answer, but it would have been nice if the right thing to do was devote himself to loving Simon to the best of his ability.
In a better world, that would be enough.
He drags himself out of bed.

Much to Krel's excitement, Douxie is coming back to Arcadia for a little while to help him with repairing Castle Camelot. Their day gets derailed though when the weather gets rainy.
The spring and summer of 2017 had been hot and dry in Arcadia – unusually so, even for California. Now, this could be chalked up to a number of things, climate change and an ancient witch fucking with the weather via weird meteorological magic chief amongst them, but the causes don’t necessarily matter right now.
Right now, all that matters is that the spring of 2017 had been hot and dry in Arcadia. Clouds had been pretty scarce, and those rare overcast days brought only wind, never water. There wasn’t so much as a mist or a sprinkle, only relentless heat that had sapped the landscape, turning the once healthy grass yellow and brittle and making the trees wilt so severely that they began to appear closer to something painted by Salvador Dali. By the time July reached its twilight, the city had been thoroughly baked, and all of its residents had as well, bemoaning the drought and dreaming of the day they might hear the mythical thunder once more.
All but one.
Here is a fact for you: Nancy Domzalski, though she would have loved to, would not have been able to join Varvatos on Akiridion without a fair bit of maneuvering and aid. She checked if Akiridion 5 had oxygen – but she hadn’t checked whether it had water.
Here is another fact: only about 1x10^-12 of the known planets in the universe have abundant and easily accessible liquid water, and a fraction of that fraction is inhabited.
And a third fact: Akiridion 5 is not one of these planets.
So, while the heat is rather bothersome, it isn’t crazily so, and the dryness to rival the deserts to the southeast in Nevada and Arizona isn’t noteworthy in the slightest to Arcadia’s resident Akiridion.
What is noteworthy, though, is the day, just after the birth of August, the sun doesn’t rise. At least, not in any visible way. Stretching across the sky from horizon to horizon are thick, gray clouds. They roil across the sky, as if the crashing waves of the sea had been supplanted into the heavens, and carry with them a rumbling, still too far off to do much more than bounce off eardrums, but near enough for the soundwaves to bear fruitful promise.
Krel knows what this is – he’s seen enough human media to know what a rainstorm looks like.
But he pays this no more mind than vague acknowledgment, not processing it whatsoever as he makes a swift exit from the mothership and jumps into his car (that he technically stole, but the police can’t prove he’s the one who stole those parts, so jokes on them), already half a horvath late after he accidentally passed out at his workstation last night without an alarm set. He has better and more important things to think about, after all – Douxie is back in Arcadia today with Nari, for the first time in months, to help Krel with the flight mechanics of the currently-being-rebuilt Castle Camelot.
And if he’s just as excited to see Douxie again as he is to work on the magitech, well, he can’t exactly be blamed. Ever since they first teamed up after the Order attacked HexTech, Krel’s felt like maybe it was Douxie that’s been missing. He just gets Krel, in a way that pretty much no one else has, not even Aja.
In but a few minutes, he’s pulled up outside the no-longer-ruins, still very much where Arcadia Oaks High once stood – with how massive this thing is, there was no moving it. But once Krel gets it off the ground, they can relocate to the forest for the rest of the rebuilding and repair and the reconstruction of the school can begin. And then maybe he’ll get a respite from Mary’s bitching about Arcadia Oaks High being temporarily hosted by Arcadia Oaks Academy.
And there he is. Standing outside the repaired gates is Douxie, looking exactly as he had when he left, from the blue tips to the black Converse to the skull necklace. He grins as Krel approaches, giving a two-finger salute in greeting. Krel gives an excited wave in response and then quickly cuts himself off.
Ok, I’m not an oaf like Steve, I need to get myself together.
“Was wondering when you’d show up,” Douxie teases.
“Ok, I’m not that late,” Krel says. “Where’s Nari?”
“She’s with the Trollhunters,” Douxie says. “She wanted Toby to show her more of his stage magic.”
“And Archie?”
“Blinky.”
Yeah, that tracks.
There’s an awkward moment where neither of them says anything, they just stare at each other. Eyes roaming over Douxie’s face, he’s reminded just how gold Douxie’s eyes are, a mesmerizing color Krel’s yet to see any other human, wizard, or even troll possess, a color he’d expect more from the stars themselves, in the hearts of supernovas and in the space dust that births nebulas.
Then Douxie clears his throat and gives Krel a playful smirk, breaking Krel from his reverie, causing him to blush deeply. “R-right, uh, let’s get started.”
The two make their way over to the engine Krel’s gotten hooked up, a feat of technology Krel is personally incredibly proud of. It makes his teleporter look like a child’s toy! This engine, the Heart of Avalon 2.0, is the largest piece of technology he’s ever made, and it’s the same size and dimensions as the original gemstone that powered the castle. With the little experience he got from his and Douxie’s brief experiment together with the miniature Heart of Avalon, he’s managed to ensure the entire thing is optimized for magic and made it so that the internal four-dimensional processor is keyed into the specific wavelengths and frequencies that he knows Douxie’s magic operates at. He’s also got the local transmitter and all the receivers set up and linked, that way when the engine is up and running, the magitech will function equally at every corner of Camelot, allowing for it all to rise as one piece, every inch of it with the same support. All the tech is in place – as in place as it can be right now since there are sections of the castle that can’t be repaired until it’s in the air – so now he just needs the magic component, and he can test this baby out. Hopefully, it won’t go down in flames.
He's 63.8% confident it won’t.
When they arrive at the Heart, Douxie’s jaw actually drops as he takes it all in, eyes unable to settle in any one spot for very long with just how much there is to see.
“You … this … holy shit.”
“Pretty impressive, yes?” Krel says.
“It’s … it’s amazing! How many people had to help you to get this done so quickly?” Douxie asks.
“Oh, no one, this was all me,” Krel says, with no lack of self-satisfaction, preening under the praise.
“You made this entire thing yourself!?”
“From initial design all the way through construction – the only help I needed was that of some of Blinky’s magic books to supplement my admittedly limited knowledge on magical conduits.”
“Oh, Zoe’s going to be so fucking jealous that she didn’t make this herself when she sees this, this is a technomancer’s wet dream right here,” Douxie says with a laugh. Krel isn’t sure what that means, but he laughs along anyway. Then Douxie says, “Alright, so, what am I doing here?”
Krel grabs Douxie’s hand, pretends like that doesn’t make his own skin tingle where they touch, and drags Douxie over to the platform that leads into the heart of the Heart. For this whole thing to work, there are multiple interface sites with access to different aspects and functions, and what Douxie needs to do has to do with the primary function, the interface to which is located at the most central part of the Heart where it can better connect and communicate with everything else.
In this space, they are surrounded by the blue glow of Akiridion tech reflected back by the metal, and the black of Douxie’s hair is turned a midnight blue against blue-tinted skin. The gold of his eyes doesn’t turn green for a second, though, the color too powerful to be shifted.
And tucked away in here, the rest of the world feels impossibly far away from this moment. All it is, is him, Douxie, and their magitech.
Krel’s isn’t sure how long they work – he’s far too captivated by A: his tech, because it’s his tech, and B: the trails of sky-blue magic in the air, sparks flying off to hover in the air like little stars. He’s too enraptured in what they’re creating together, in the conversation that flows so naturally between them. Douxie tells him of his travels with Nari, and Krel fills him in on what’s going on in Arcadia, and when they’ve no more to say on that their conversation easily drifts amongst topics, eventually settling on music.
“You know, I’ve been practicing, and I think I’m getting pretty good,” Krel says.
“Oh yeah? Did you end up getting the books I suggested?” Douxie says.
“Yes, and you were right, they were very helpful,” Krel says. And then, teasingly, he adds, “I also may have found some videos on YouTube.”
“You found those???” Douxie asks.
“Well, Zoe may have sent me the link to the first one,” Krel says.
“Of course she did,” Douxie sighs.
“Hey, they were very informative,” Krel says. “A good demonstration of technique.”
“They’re shitty videos of me playing guitar in a tiny shitty apartment with a 2006 quality camera,” Douxie says. “I’m surprised you can even make out the fingerings I’m doing.”
“I won’t lie, it took a few watches and a little sound comparison,” Krel says.
“Well, you’ll have to give me a demonstration,” Douxie says, shooting Krel a smile, which Krel can’t help but mirror.
“If you have time before you have to leave,” Krel then says with a pang in his chest.
“I’ll make sure I do,” Douxie says, bumping his shoulder into Krel’s.
And, well, he’s just glad the room is lit up blue to disguise just how brightly he blushes at that.
Pretty soon after this, Douxie mentions lunch – evidently, he had been keeping track of time.
Back in the main hall of the castle, after putting his transduction on (eating is so much better when he’s got actual taste buds), Krel is caught off guard by a great rumble from outside.
At the entrance, gazing out, Krel is struck by the sight.
Streaks of liquid silver fall from the heavens, great waves from the gray sky coming down paint the world beneath. A cool mist sits against his skin, a completely foreign feeling to the warm humidity of the spring and the dry heat of the summer. Each strike to the ground creates a symphony and releases from the world an earthy scent unlike anything he’s encountered before, a scent of freshness and life. He can feel the relief of the flora around him, a palpable joy in the air, laced through the earthy scent, set into every line of every stem and leaf and trunk as they welcome the deluge, the relief of having water after months and months of not even a single drop.
“Krel?”
Douxie’s already outside the building, standing in the rain entirely unbothered, waiting for him. His dark hair is darker, the black more complete, the blue richer. It’s weighed down by the water, and the wet ropes stick to glistening skin. He doesn’t seem to mind the rain though. He pushes his bangs back out of his face, giving Krel a full view of those eyes, turned molten in the rain.
Krel tentatively takes a step forward but lurches back at the first splatter of water on the tip of his nose, the cold of it startling him.
A calloused hand enters his vision, long, thin fingers outstretched to him.
“Come on,” Douxie says, and the warmth in his voice and written into the deepest lines of his face is enough to make Krel’s breath hitch and create a fluttering in his stomach.
He tentatively takes Douxie’s hand, and the wizard slowly pulls him out into the downpour. He gasps at the sensation of the cold water soaking through his hair and into his shirt and pants, a shock to the system that really wakes him up. He holds out his free hand and watches in wonder the plips of rain against his palm, rolling over the sides and down his wrist as they gather and splash.
None of the movies or tv shows could have prepared him for real rain – not even his times in water here, under the spray of the shower or in the mothership’s pool, could have prepared him.
There’s a squeeze of his hand. He looks to see Douxie’s interlaced his fingers with Krel’s – and the effect of the droplets streaking down their arms to streak over and between interlocked hands, gathering in their snug palm and where their finger meet so firmly it cannot slip through the cracks.
Now in close proximity, Krel can’t look away from Douxie’s face – how the rain gathers and shimmers over his pale skin to highlight his cheekbones, how his cheeks seem rosier in the wake of cold water, how his normally pretty straight hair curls slightly against his neck and temples, how water droplets sit delicately on his eyelashes to glimmer in the dimmed daylight.
He’s beautiful.
“Hm, I was thinking the same thing,” Douxie says with a cheeky smile. Krel tenses when he realizes he said that out loud. His free hand comes to rub at the back of his neck in embarrassment, and then he registers what exactly it is Douxie says. A squeak leaves him at the sudden realization, and in that moment he’s sure he’s blushing so hard his cheeks are up like a 100-watt cyan light bulb.
This seems to strike Douxie, as Krel can actually hear his breath catch and watches as Douxie’s eyes go wide, sparkling both with wonder and with specks of blue light.
That’s when he notices a bunch of odd points of blue light on Douxie’s face, reflections of something else just like the specks in his eyes.
Krel’s own eyes widen as he realizes what it is.
Water refracts light.
With the rain running down his cheeks, his blush has created a cyan galaxy across his face.
“Wow …” Douxie breathes.
Krel just smiles, a little awkwardly, unsure of what to say. He’s never been the best with words, after all.
Douxie’s free hand comes up to gently push a wet chunk of hair out of Krel's face, tucking it behind his ear. Krel can feel the cold drips from the end of it join the drips of the rest of his hair down his neck. Douxie’s fingers leave little sparks in their wake as they just ever so lightly brush across his skin.
He then finds himself being led away from Castle Camelot. Each footfall sends up a spray of water, and when he comes to his first large puddle, the splash is high enough to soak his socks and the bottoms of his jeans, both to his discomfort and to his delight. And that puddle seems to activate something inside of Krel.
At the next large puddle, he simply can resist – instead of just stepping into it, he lets go of Douxie’s hand and jumps, sending the water spraying nearly as high as his shirt and also getting Douxie.
The little giggle that leaves him is completely involuntary. The fond one that leaves Douxie is less so.
And then Douxie stomps in the standing water, sending a spray over Krel’s shins.
Krel then kicks through the water, sending a larger splash Douxie’s way.
Douxie raises a challenging eyebrow, and Krel wastes no time darting away.
That’s how the two find themselves running through the streets of Arcadia like a couple of little kids, splashing through puddles and soaking each other in their chase.
They’ll have to finish their work later, and once they’re done with the preliminary testing, Douxie will have to take Nari and leave again.
But for now, they don’t have to worry about reconstruction or evil magical gods or saving the world.
For now, they’re two boys playing in the rain together.
By the time they slow to a stop, they’re panting and soaked from head to toe. Even still, each raindrop that hits Krel carries with it an invigoration that, along with the cold, raises goosebumps along his arms. He’s winded, but he’s alive, in a way he never would’ve thought rain could make him feel.
Though, he’s pretty sure it’s not just the rain making him feel this way.
They find themselves in the town square park, which is utterly empty beside themselves. Not even Stuart is out here selling his tacos, which means they’re going to need to think of something else for lunch.
He locks eyes with Douxie once they’ve both caught their breath, and the two of them can only laugh.
Krel’s then caught off guard by Douxie once again taking his hand and pulling him in, the two of them even closer than they were before back at the castle.
“Hi,” he says, most of his cerebral higher functioning officially shut down.
“Hi,” Douxie says back. Krel can feel his breath across his cheeks as he speaks, can feel the heat radiating off the wizard’s skin. Suddenly overwhelmed by just how close they are, Krel tries to look away, but a hand comes gently under his chin, slowly lifting his face back up.
He isn’t sure who moves first to close the gap.
Honestly, it may have been both of them.
All that Krel really knows is that one second, Douxie’s lifted his chin and locked his eyes once more with Krel’s, and the next, that hand has moved to cup Krel’s jaw and the space between them has closed in time with their eyes.
Cold lips meet cold lips, chapped slightly from the chilly air. Douxie lets go of Krel’s hand to wrap that arm around Krel’s waist, and Krel finds his own hands coming up to settle on Douxie’s chest. Warmth bursts into life inside of Krel, a rightness settling across him and soaking into his core like the rain into his clothes.
It tastes like petrichor.

...Has anyone actually made an anatomical horror project?
A system which operates outside of your control, constant and steadfast- more complex than any machine, defined by an endless loop of processes that no one has gotten to the bottom of, work which is absolute and must continue, but undescribed, unknown- forceful.
Yames' style of horror (Discover my Body, Water Womb World) utilizes push factors, things which force you, or your character directly into the depths- curiosity which damns you, like a child discovering something wrong (and, like a nightmare, are punished in a horribly overblown way.)
One game of theirs, "Discover My Body" uses the lens of anatomy as both a push factor and the main concept- something which you cannot run from, something you must bear, something that is given to you in hearty detail that you must absorb... It's main focus is the transformation, and the anatomy thereof rather than the existing systems of the human body.
[Extreme flashing light warning if you choose to play "Covetus", t let it be known the creator wishes it not to be.]
An old newgrounds game titled "Covetous" follows an exaggerated case of two medical conditions ("Fetus in Fetu" / Parasitic Twin), the plot of which being that you control the "Brother" of a victim, subsisting entirely on the biological systems of the host (Though not anatomically accurate)... The gameplay is simple, but utilizes a sort of x-ray perspective as the game space.
Though not horror, the series "Trauma Center" utilizes strange (but fantastical) diseases and illnesses as a central plot point: E.G,
-A "Fish" that swims within an organ and causes large amounts of lacerations within a split second
-A parasite which creates a web to "sap energy" from a victim's heartbeat
  -Tumors which, when cut can randomly explode in a cloud of harmful gas.
...
On a totally unrelated note, I vaguely remember a snippet of a horror movie on Cable TV- perhaps distorted through my bouts of childhood sleep paralysis, and the general state of "Conscious Unconsciousness" between the 2-3 minutes of "Wake" and "Dream", right as your eyes start to slip.
It was an "Osmosis Jones" sort of closeup (Camera pan to chest, cut to a menagerie of "Veins" inside of a body.)
...
I'm not sure if I could make one, I'm far too "esoteric" for horror, and unlike the fetishists' "Gleeful" interpretation of the macabre, I don't have the heart nor skill to describe things directly.

SAP Deployment Options on Azure
SAP system is deployed on-premises or in Azure. One can deploy different systems into different landscapes either on Azure or on-premises. SAP HANA on Azure large instances intend to host the SAP application layer of SAP systems in Virtual Machines and the related SAP HANA instance on the unit in the 'SAP HANA Azure Large Instance Stamp.' 'A Large Instance Stamp' is a hardware infrastructure stack that is SAP HANA TDI certified and dedicated to running SAP HANA instances within Azure. 'SAP HANA Large Instances' is the official name for the solution in Azure to run HANA instances on SAP HANA TDI certified hardware that gets deployed in ‘Large Instance Stamps’ in different Azure regions. SAP or HANA Large Instances or HLI are physical servers meaning bare metal servers. HLI does not reside in the same data center as Azure services but is in close proximity and connected through high throughput links to satisfy SAP HANA network latency requirements. HLI comes in two flavors- Type 1 and 2. IaaS can install SAP HANA on a virtual machine running on Azure. Running SAP HANA on IaaS supports more Linux versions than HLI. For example, you can install SAP Netweaver on Windows and Linux IaaS Virtual Machines on Azure. SAP HANA can only run on RedHat and SUSE, while NetWeaver can run on windows SQL and Linux.
Azure Virtual Network
Azure Virtual Network or VNET is a core foundation of the infrastructure implementation on Azure. The VNET can be a communication boundary for those resources that need to communicate. You can have multiple VNETs in your subscription. If they weren't connected, we could call them Pierre in Azure wall; there will be no traffic flow in between. They can also share the same IP range. Understanding the requirements and proper setup is essential as changing them later, especially with the running production workloads, could cause downtime. When you provision a VNET, The private blocks must allocate address space. If you plan to connect multiple VNETs, you cannot have an overlapping address space. The IP range should not clash or overlap with the IP addressing in Azure while connecting on-premise to Azure via express route or site-site VPN. Configuring VNET to the IP address space becomes a DHP service. You can configure VNET with the DNS server's IP addresses to resolve services on-premise.VNETS can be split into different subnets and communicate freely with each other. Network security groups or NSGs are the control planes we use to filter traffic. NSGs are stateful but simple firewall rules based on the source and destination IP and ports.

 Azure Virtual Gateway
 For extensive connectivity, you must create a virtual gateway subnet. When you create a virtual gateway, you will get prompted for two options: VPN or Express Route Gateway; with VPN, you cannot connect to the Express Route Circuit. If you choose the Express Route Virtual Gateway, you can combine both.
 There are two types of VPN;
1) The point-to-site VPN is used for testing and gives the lowest throughput.
2) The site-site VPN connection can offer better benefits by bridging networks.
This VPN offers zero support for SLA and uses this connection as a backup for the recommended connection on Azure, called the express route. Express route is a dedicated circuit using hardware installed on your data center, with a constant link to ‘Microsoft Azure Edge’ devices. Express route is inevitable for maintaining the communication between application VNET running in Azure and on-premise systems to HLI servers. The express route is safer and more resilient than VPN as it provides a connection through a single circuit and facilitates second redundancy; this helps route traffic between SAP application servers inside Azure and enables low latency. Furthermore, the fast path allows routine traffic between SAP application servers inside Azure VNET and HLI through an optimized route that bypasses the virtual network gateway and directly hops through edge routers to HLA servers. Therefore, an ultra-performance express route gateway must have a Fast Path feature.
SAP HANA Architecture (VM)
This design gets centered on the SAP HANA backend on the Linux Suse or RedHat distributions. Even though the Linux OS implementation is the same, the vendor licensing differs. It incorporates always-on replication and utilizes synchronous and asynchronous replication to meet the HANA DB requirements. We have also introduced NetApp file share for DFS volumes used by each SAP component using Azure site recovery and building a DR plan for App ASCs and the web dispatches servers. Azure Active directory is used in synchronization with on-premises active directory, as SAP application user authenticates from on-premises to SAP landscape on Azure with Single Sign-On credentials. Azure high-speed express route gateway securely connects on-premises networks to Azure virtual machines and other resources. The request flows into highly available SAP central, SAP ABAP services ASCS and through SAP application servers running on Azure virtual machines. The on-demand request moves from the SAP App server to the SAP HANA server running on a high-performance Azure VM. Primary active and secondary standby servers run on SAP-certified virtual machines with a cluster availability of 99.95 at the OS level. Data replication is handled through HSR in synchronous mode from primary to secondary enabling zero recovery point objective. SAP HANA data is replicated through a disaster recovery VM in another Azure region through the Azure high-speed backbone network and using HSR in asynchronous mode. The disaster recovery VM can be smaller than the production VM to save costs.
SAP systems are network sensitive, so the network system must factor the design decisions into segmenting the VNETs and NSGs. To ensure network reliability, we must use low latency cross-connections with sufficient bandwidth and no packet loss. SAP is very sensitive to these metrics, and you could experience significant issues if traffic suffers latency or packet loss between the application and the SAP system. We can use proximity placement groups called PGS to force the grouping of different VM types into a single Azure data center to optimize the network latency between the different VM types to the best possible.

 Security Considerations
 Security is another core pillar of any design. Role-based Access control (RBAC) gets accessed through the Azure management bay. RBAC is backed up through AD using cloud-only synchronized identities. Azure AD can back up the RBAC through cloud-only or synchronized identities. RBAC will tie in those cloud or sync identities to Azure tenants, where you can give personal access to Azure for operational purposes. Network security groups are vital for securing the network traffic both within and outside the network environment. The NSGs are stateful firewalls that preserve session information. You can have a single NSG per subnet, and multiple subnets can share the same energy. Application security group or ASG handles functions such as web servers, application servers, or backend database servers combined to perform a meaningful service. Resource encryption brings the best of security with encryption in transit. SAP recommends using encryption at rest, so for the Azure storage account, we can use storage service encryption, which would use either Microsoft or customer-managed keys to manage encryption. Azure storage also adds encryption in transit, with SSL using HTTPS traffic. You can use Azure Disk Encryption (ADE) for OS and DBA encryption for SQL.
Migration of SAP Workloads to Azure
The most critical part of the migration is understanding what you are planning to migrate and accounting for dependencies, limitations, or even blockers that might stop your migration. Following an appropriate inventory process will ensure that your migration completes successfully. You can use in-hand tools to understand the current SAP landscape in the migration scope. For example, looking at your service now or CMDB catalog might reveal some of the data that expresses your SAP system. Then take that information to start drawing out your sizing in Azure. It is essential to ensure that we have a record of the current environment configuration, such as the number of servers and their names, server roles, and data about CPU and memory. It is essential to pick up the disk sizes, configuration, and throughput to ensure that your design delivers a better experience in Azure. It is also necessary to understand database replication and throughput requirements around replicas. When performing a migration, the sizing for large HANA instances is no different from sizing for HANA in general. For existing and deployment systems you want to move from other RDBMS to HANA, SAP provides several reports that run on your existing SAP systems. If migrating the database to HANA, these reports need to check the data and calculate memory requirements for the HANA instances.
When evaluating high availability and disaster recovery requirements, it is essential to consider the implications of choosing between two-tier and three-tier architectures. To avoid network contention in a two-tier arrangement, install database and Netweaver components on the same Azure VM. The database and application components get installed in three-tier configurations on separate Azure Virtual Machines. This choice has other implications regarding sizing since two-tier, and three-tier SAP ratings for a given VM differs. The high availability option is not mandatory for the SAP application servers.
You can achieve high availability by employing redundancy. To implement it, you can install individual application servers on separate Azure VMs. For example, you can achieve high availability for ASCS and SCS servers running on windows using windows failover clustering with SIOS data keeper. We can also achieve high availability with Linux clustering using Azure NetApp files. For DBMS servers, you should use DB replication technology using redundant nodes. Azure offers high availability through redundancy of its infrastructure and capabilities, such as Azure VM restarts, which play an essential role in a single VM deployment. In addition, Azure offers different SLAs depending on your configuration. For example, SAP landscapes organize SABC servers into different tiers; there are three diverse landscapes: deployment, quality assurance, and production.
Migration Strategies:- SAP landscapes to Azure

 Enterprises have SAP systems for business functions like Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP), global trade, business intelligence(BI), and others. Within those systems, there are different environments like sandbox developments, tests, and production. Each horizontal row is an environment, and each vertical dimension is the SAP system for a business function. The layers at the bottom are lower-risk environments and are less critical. Those towards the top are in high-risk environments and are more critical. As you move up the stack, there is more risk in the migration process. Production is the more critical environment. The use of test environments for business continuity is of concern. The systems at the bottom are smaller and have fewer computing resources, lower availability, size requirements, and less throughput. They have the same amount of storage as the production database with a horizontal migration strategy. To gain experience with production systems on Azure, you can use a vertical approach with low-risk factors in parallel to the horizontal design.
 Horizontal Migration Strategy
 To limit risk, start with low-impact sandboxes or training systems. Then, if something goes wrong, there is little danger associated with users or mission-critical business functions. After gaining experience in hosting, running, and administering SAP systems in Azure, apply to the next layer of systems up the stack. Then, estimate costs, limiting expenditures, performance, and optimization potential for each layer and adjust if needed.
Vertical Migration Strategy
The cost must be on guard along with legal requirements. Move systems from the sandbox to production with the lowest risk. First, the governance, risk, compliance system, and the object Event Repository gets driven towards production. Then the higher risk elements like BI and DRP. When you have a new system, it's better to start in Azure default mode rather than putting it on-premises and moving it later. The last system you move is the highest risk, mission-critical system, usually the ERP production system. Having the most performance virtual machines, SQL, and extensive storage would be best. Consider the earliest migration of standalone systems. If you have different SAP systems, always look for upstream and downstream dependencies from one SAP system to another.
Journey to SAP on Azure
Consider two main factors for the migration of SAP HANA to the cloud. The first is the end-of-life first-generation HANA appliance, causing customers to reevaluate their platform. The second is the desire to take advantage of the early value proposition of SAP business warehouse BW on HANA in a flexible DDA model over traditional databases and later BW for HANA. As a result, numerous initial migrations of SAP HANA to Microsoft Azure have focused on SAP BW to take advantage of SAP HANA's in-memory capability for the BW workloads. In addition, using the SAP database migration option DMO with the System Migration option of SUM facilitates single-step migration from the source system on-premises to the target system residing in Azure. As a result, it minimizes the overall downtime. In general, when initiating a project to deploy SAP workloads to Azure, you should divide it into the following phases. Project preparation and planning, pilot, non-production, production preparation, go-live, and post-production.
