I love how stuff like Spy being Scout’s dad, Pyro being a woman (or at least not a man), and Heavy and Medic being very close friends, if not romantically involved, all started off as fanon. Then Valve just ran with it and started sprinkling in more and more hints that these theories could actually be true until they either became official canon, became canon for TFC Pyro in direct reference to the theories about TF2 Pyro, or became all but confirmed canon. And it all started over like, 1 piece of evidence that the fans latched onto. A “Yer Mom” joke. A purse in a locker. “I love this Doktor!”

But when it came to Demoman’s “I’ve been shaggin’ yer wife!” line, everyone just collectively chose to ignore it. Like, we all agreed that Medic isn’t married, he’s gay. And even if he were married, the reason his wife cheats is because he’s gay and he doesn’t care because he’s fucking Heavy. And Valve has never suggested otherwise since.

The reason demo has that line where he says “And I’ve been shaggin’ yer wife!” To medic, is because Demo found Medic so attractive, he was utterly convinced that he had a wife, and not because Medic actually has a wife.

Just saw someone reblog a old thing you did of what you may ship and you said you May ship medic and a wife, I was wondering what are your possible headcanons as to who she is or what she looked like 8D

i made that in, like, 2013 or something. also, i didn’t exactly invest the time in delving in that further as i marked it as a “maybe” on the chart. there was nothing really canon to substantiate it aside from the demoman line “dominated..and i’ve been shaggin’ yer wife” so yeah. 

for all i know she doesn’t even exist and it’s like a drunken comeback of “that’s not what your wife said last night” kinda nonsense. idk. i only ship canon. that’s my main thing. med could be gay, straight, bi, pan, whatever. nothing in canon has absolutely definitively said anything about his sexuality but i think it’s fine to leave it open like that because then people in the fandom can make the content they want to see. i choose to keep it ambiguous because that’s my understanding of the canon

One voiceline in TF2 implies that Medic is married during the 1960s ("Dominated! ...And I've been shaggin' yer wife! Hahah!"). He could be Mercy's grandfather or great-grandfather. I imagine that they don't get on well with each other (Mercy hating Medic for being evil), but Mercy respects Medic (both for being her relative and for his contributions to medicine) and Medic is proud of Mercy for achieving success while sticking to her principles.

Honestly in my fic continuity I say that on Mercy’s mother’s side of the family, at least one member of each generation has died in a war, so I wouldn’t be surprised if The Medic was one of those ancestors.

“I am afraid vhe have not been introduced, I am-” Clara began turning towards the medic, but she stopped when the glaciers of two pairs of ice blue eyes slammed into one another, both forcing themselves to be calm. The doctor had calmed from panic. Clara’s were more like a monsoon trapped behind glass.

“Ludwig.”

“Clara.”

“Schmitt.” She corrected with finality, keeping him away from a personal level.

He calmly met this desire by correcting himself to even further from familiarity. “Krankenschwester.”

Tavish was initially alarmed by the foreign term, but since his woman had not immediately began throwing a fit, he decided to let it slide with an awkward, “I take it you two know each other?”

Clara snarled a single puff of scoffing laughter. “Clara Ludwig-Schmitt.”

A wave of understanding seemed to reach demo’s good eye that sniper had not yet connected. “I’m sorry, love, I should have connected the dots-”

“Nein, Bärchen, you could not have known. How zhis man could end up vhith a vedding ring, I have no idea.” She had begun the statement with a sweet tone of patronizing fondness for her current lover, but as the second sentence began, her sweet-as-cream tone curdled into sour glops of acid.

Doctor Ludwig turned his attention to the television he had not cared to glance at in half an hour, suddenly completely invested in the game before he spoke in a very passive-aggressive tone “And yet you vhere zhe one who vas vearing one.”

She growled “I zhought you vere more of a man back zhen.” She finished her martini at an alarming rate and signaled the bartender for a second one.

Tensions were rising faster than the sniper had anticipated, his trigger finger twitching out of nerves at the thought of a possible altercation.

Tbh idk if she exists. I know the Demoman says “...I’ve been shaggin’ yer wife” but it’s the only mention of her ever. For all we know it could be one of those throw away “that’s not what your mom said last night” sort of lines. If she does exist, I don’t think Medic ever really cared for her because he makes no mention of her and doesn’t wear a wedding ring. 

Because:

1. This blog was made as a safe space for those who want to just laugh a bit.

2. I recognize that there are users on here who are not adults and should not be exposed to that content/ some serious negativity on here. It’s very easy to lie about your age to use a website.

3. There are plenty of other blogs out there that provide that sort of content and I don’t need to be included as one of them. If you desire that sort of content, you can very easily look somewhere else for it.

I didn’t really need the mental image of most of the mercs in tight leather boyband pants and yet, here we are.
