When I was 14 I wanted more than anything in the world to be a boy who could skateboard like I didn't even recognize it consciously at the time but I was obsessed I needed that for myself so bad i needed to be part of a group of stupid rambunctious men who skate. No I could not skateboard and no I didn't try very hard to learn either because it's scary but the heart wants what the heart wants.

If you know me, you know how much I talk about my cousin Vic. Everyone I know, knows about Vic. This is his oldest son, my little cousin T’Jaden (TJ). Vic was murdered in 2006 and is the reason I ever got into music.

There would be no me in music without Vic.

My little cousin TJ is now a pro skateboarder, whether he considers himself that or not… not a lot of people in my family have anything to show for what they’ve done in life, so I’m celebrating my little cousin because I’m proud of him.

He was just featured in the newest article of Thrasher Mag, one of the biggest skateboard magazines in the world. I’m about to go grab a copy tomorrow, frame it and put it in my office.

My family has been a gift and a curse for me (the story wouldn’t even make sense if I tried to tell it), but this is one of the rare gifts.

I’ve always wanted to be there to help my little cousins do any and everything you can ever reach.

I’m honestly not even saying everything I want to say because, 1, no one in my family has talked about Vic’s death since he passed, and 2, I’ve never had a conversation about Vic with his sons since that time either, so I’m not exactly sure how he feels about me posting this.

Vic’s parents, siblings, my cousins, no one has really brought up Vic’s name… but I talk about him daily, weekly and always will.

Funny thing is, Vic’s parents, siblings and my cousins have also never mentioned how well T’Jaden was doing in skateboarding either, I had to find out on Instagram.

Shows you how great family can be sometimes. 🥲
