Wonder Woman Villain Movie Ideas, Part XI: Blue Snowman
Byrna Brilyant AKA the Blue Snowman is Wonder Woman's rendition of "ice-based enemy," this time in the form of the child of an inventor who had been creating a substance called Blue Snow for the good of humanity, who had died in the process of making it, and the child had decided to use it for self-serving purposes, freezing a farming town's crops and extorting them for money to un-freeze them. While originally a woman who wore a more masculine suit to disguise her identity, comics within the last couple of years have retconned them as gender fluid, with the masculine costume part of their gender presentation.
Origin Movie: It's a bit difficult being one among many of the same type of baddie, and very much not even being in the top three of that type. With Mr. Freeze, Captain Cold, and Killer Frost all being more necessary to adapt, it's hard to find a good movie concept for them that wouldn't just be a weaker retread of one of their stories. And so, for an origin, I'd just have to go with a basic: Wonder Woman has left her island and is exploring the beauties of the world, only to find someone destroying all of that for money.
Sequel Movie: Since their concept is not inherently tied to Wonder Woman's concept, naturally a sequel fits better for pacing, just like Cheetah or Giganta or several other bigger villains. But, in that is the rub of "Why wouldn't you do one of those villains then?"
Finale Movie: Like several other smaller, more gimmick-based villains, your first thought here is "Really? Of all the villains, that's the one you decided to end on?" Unless Byrna started setting their sights on speedrunning global warming, their typical schemes generally don't even get that big.
Supporting Villain: Honestly, I think the best place for them would probably be as a member of Villainy Inc. if I decided to include that in a series somewhere, because Villainy Inc. is a lot of fun.
Here's my rankings of them:
Supporting Villain: Because I'd love to see Villainy Inc. done well.
Sequel Movie: The best way to do them as a standalone.
Origin Movie: It's fine, it would just ultimately be derivative.
Finale Movie: Nah.
#blue snowman#byrna brilyant#wonder woman#wonder woman movie#diana of themyscira#the strongest thing Byrna has going for them to stand out from the other ice people is their gender identity#Considering the recent nature of the reveal there haven't been too many stories involving the character yet#It will be interesting to see if we do get a few good stories moving forward to work with

I feel like ai is going to render social media obsolete. There's gonna be a point where most videos and images and text are gonna be made and posted by ai. Fake video is gonna target every woman and child that has their face and body on the internet (probably already has for children) . Bots are already ruining social media as a whole and it's not gonna stop at art or politics. All governments are investing billions into it to compete with each other and it's gonna speedrun global warming because of all the power that it needs.
Like wtf is the point of anything anymore

As a leftist who hates Musk, I see no point in vandalizing and burning Teslas. Sell them and buy a different car, then he won't earn anything and we don't speedrun global warming.
I don't see why leftists burn Tesla's because like you achieve nothing you don't get a political victory all you've done is burned an electric vehicle creating more carbon emissions burning it than it ever would have created in its entire working lifetime

Hi I have finally gotten around to reading all of the Alterna Logs after speedrunning my way through world 5 and 6 because I had enough eggs and didn't have to play any of them and. and.
Wow! They did a great job of continuing the Splatoon trend of giving us a funny concept with absolutely decimating lore behind it! I'm absolutely miserable now! /pos
more. under the cut. spoiler warning
ough what the FUCK /pos /pos /very much positive! Wow! All of humanity is dead but the new species exist because of US! That's absolutely miserable!
Honestly, I never really expected an actual reason to how the sea life evolved so quickly. I mean, it's only been 12,000 years since humanity died. There's no way that squids evolved into humanoids THAT FAST. But I didn't think much of it. Sure, Splatoon has a tendency to give proper and often detailed explanations towards little details (ex. the reason you can customize your character after the beginning is because squids can change color irl), but I just figured... eh. It's Splatoon. they can do what they want.
But NOPE! Turns out, there IS a reason for it!
I don't know if there's anyone still reading this who doesn't yet know the lore but doesn't care about spoilers, but here's a copy-pasted message from me talking to my friends about what the reason is:
"The few remaining humans on earth decided to build a dome underground, for their safety. Eventually, they developed these 'crystals' made from the bodily fluids of squids, that could essentially read minds and reflect the hopes of humanity. They filled the ceiling of the dome with these crystals, and they turned into the Earth's sky- the humans just wanted to be on the surface again, all we really wanted was to be back up there. All we wanted was to see the sky.
Eventually, this last group of humans had children, and the new generation was just as wistful as the last; they wanted to be on the surface too. Even though they had never seen it.
Against the wishes of their elders, they built a rocket ship to get back up there. But this... was a mistake. As soon as they attempted to turn it on, it started burning up the ceiling. The 'sky' fell, crystals included. It killed everyone. There were no more humans left on Earth.
But these crystals... they began to, essentially, merge with the sea life around their dome. And as the crystals reflected humanity's hopes and dreams, the sea life began to rapidly evolve into humanoids. They became humanoid because of us. Because of our desires and love and hope, the squids and octopi and every other creature we had found began to become us, or as close as they can get.
They are our last creation, our last little huzzah. The product of our last hope. They wanted to go to the surface just as we had, because that was what we wanted. They became land animals because of our dreams. They left the dome because that was all we wanted to do.
They saw our sky again for us. And yet, they had no clue that they were our result. They just... wanted to see the sky. Just as we had.
In typical Splatoon fashion, you have a funny premise (humanoid sea creatures have a society) followed by absolutely devastating lore."
Just... wow. Alright. Alright! That's some of the most horrifying lore we have yet! I mean, knowing that all the humans died because of World War 5 + global warming, including the few who survived in domes, was already miserable, but now.. now we get to know the history behind it. Now we get to know more about the domes they lives in, now we get to know more about their final years. Now we get to know that they hoped and dreamed too much.
They followed the story of Icarus: they flew too close to the sky. That's all they wanted to see, all they wanted was to be close to it again, they just wanted to see the blue sky and feel the breeze and watch the clouds. But they failed, and the sky they had, fake and artificial as it was, fell.
... Like Chicken Little.
#splatoon#splatoon 3#splatoon 3 spoilers#splatoon spoilers#OUGH i love this game#YESSS GIRL GIVE ME SOME FUCKED UP LORE#sorry for getting Dramatic and then ruining it by comparing it to chicken little but cmon lads#the sky literally fell

I've got a speedrun of Sly 2 episode 7 running while I work and man, somehow I forgot that the bad guy for that episode was a bison who was frozen in ice, got thawed out thanks to climate change, and his first thought upon realizing his situation was, "Wow, global warming is great! I'm gonna help it by running trains built like they were from my era and generally being as environmentally unfriendly as possible!"

orphan 55 salt commentary
this one is pretty short and not that good. i watched this one over the weekend when it was hot, so i wasn’t fully concentrating, sorry about that lads. i could watch it again and try and add more but i’d rather just post it so i can move on to other episodes.
i would say there must have been production issues for the reasoning why this episode is so bad but nope that’s probably just the quality of the ch*bnall era.
there’s no cold open for this episode?
‘might get you out your mardy mood’ don’t fans of this era ever get tired of being told everything instead actually seeing it. it is honestly such lazy writing to just tell your audience everything instead actually putting in the work/ effort to actually show this.
honestly the utter speedrunning to the plot is just..?
the prosthetics/ make up for hyph3n is so bad, who greenlit this?
what would this episode be without the benni memes.
the scene where ryan gets the hopper virus happens so quick and it’s played off as comedy? like that doesn’t sit well with me. especially the bit about hallucinations. that just flat out isn’t funny at all.
‘does this usually work?’ damn thats so harsh bella, ryan is literally just making small talk.
the pacing of this episode is wild.
‘i need you here to help me understand this place, not out there shooting at things’ i feel like the doctor’s pacifism just goes straight to ‘don’t even defend yourself’.
nevi has such a bad wig, pet peeve of mine is when actors wear really cheap/ bad wigs of bright colours instead of just dying their hair.
graham’s comic relief is one of the only bearable things in this episode.
‘they’ve built a wall all around this hotel’ why does yaz just come in to repeat dialogue we’ve literally just heard? it’s bad enough hearing the exposition once, let alone twice.
i don’t understand why they ALL have to go outside to rescue benni, it’s not like we hear them all volunteer and surely staying in the resort is safer?
yes yes capitalism bad, but i don’t think terraforming to make a planet habitable again isn’t 100% a bad idea. the morality in this era is so black and white, god forbid we ever explore morality in shades of grey, nooo because then we might actually have some kind of commentary to make 🙄.
has kane actually said or done anything to indicate she’s motivated by money/ profit or that she wants to own orphan 55? this feels like the doctor just said this and everyone rolled with it (literally just sixth doctor pointing ‘villain!’).
and when did they say she was like in charge of the hotel? isn’t she just head of security?
honestly the doctor talks so much i wouldn’t be surprised if jodie got paid by the line.
‘we are driving straight into their territory’ yes because you asked! and kane explicitly wanted to abort the mission, why are you acting surprised?
the plot of this episode going out the compound just to go back to the compound is so weird. why not just write a base under siege and stay in the hotel?
(from a writing perspective) every decision in this story baffles me. who would write like this and think it was good. was it heavily edited? who greenlit this story and thought it was good enough to broadcast?
the bella revelation is very weird and pretty much comes out of left field.
bella’s plan is very excessive just because she’s mad at her mum for leaving her. like sure be mad, but jumping straight to im going to blow up the place you work and try and kill you, is a big jump no? maybe if more was given to her character to explore this then it probably be okay but asking for characterisation in a ch*bnall episode is like impossible.
this episode has like the most unnatural dialogue in the era.
why the doctor monologues to the fam and audience that global warming bad is just awful and patronising. many things to say but i’ll just shorten it down to again how this era misses the social commentary by a mile. global warming is not the cause of the individual rather the systematic structures in place which priorities profit and power over the lives of people and the planet. the audience watching dw will already know ‘global warming bad’ (yes even the little kids watching this) and so you are just preaching to the choir without adding any substantial additional commentary. the average dw viewer will have little to no power and i doubt those in power with the ability to change climate change in any substantial way are watching dw. again the individualistic blaming of climate change is the same strain as ‘the systems aren’t the problem, it’s those who exploit and use the systems’. the social commentary here sits on the fence by saying the obvious ‘global warming bad’ but is too scared to take any radical response on how to address it i.e. revolution. the sci-fi genre has always made social commentary, but good writers know how to incorporate this into a story with nuance and ch*bnall era is arguably centrist at best and makes no effort to make any additional commentary besides the obviously because ch*bnall thinks the audience is dumb or something.
can’t believe ed hime was gonna write an episode for flux, imagine actually wanting to show your face again in dw after penning that episode, how would you not be embarrassed?
concluding thoughts: the pacing is terrible, the side characters are barely characterised, the characters make stupid decisions. the twists of bella being the villain and orphan 55 being earth are just boring and unengaging. the episode is a chore to watch. a very bad episode, wouldn’t be surprised if this episode was either a first draft or had been heavily edited/ meddled with from its original story. oh to hear the absolute tea of the behind the scenes drama of this era.
you know that thing I said about running out of patience. yeah i ran out.

"I am going to mortgage future propserity by accelerating global warming and enable an axis of autocratic/theocratic petrostates to flourish across the globe and invade their neighbors so when I drive to Albany biannually to listen to my shitty inlaws rant about how The Jews are responsible for rising gas prices I can get there 20 minutes earlier" speedrun challenge
one of the things that’s been lost in the recent “let them buy electric” kerfuffle is that there’s a sort of feedback mechanism at work where americans can’t estimate distance correctly and companies see this and are unwilling to put the electric cars that might serve them well on the market. the go-to cheaper electric car on the north american market is the $30k+ nissan leaf. one thing i’ve often found in twitter threads discussing it is americans who say that its 150 mile range simply isn’t big enough for their needs. however, if you’re commuting an hour each way to work, 150 miles is enough to stop in somewhere and pick up groceries. few americans even drive 50 miles a day for work. meanwhile, in europe and china, much cheaper options exist. the dacia spring sells in france for 17,000 euros, or under 20,000 usd, and has a range of 143 miles. the hongguang mini sells in china for the equivalent of 5000 usd and has a range of 100 miles. for many americans, either of these cars could easily replace their current vehicle, especially for those who live in cities, if companies were willing to bring them over. you can see the proof in sales of electric bikes, which now outpace electric cars and have the sort of price and range needed for <10 mile trips (not to mention, some have cargo compartments for grocery rides). however, given the high profit margins on SUVs (as well as america’s addiction to the idea that bigger cars are always safer), it’s unlikely that companies will want to undercut themselves with efficient smaller electric vehicles.
