I feel like i sleep on SaintGargomon a LITTLE. Just a smidge. Even though Terriermon’s one of my favorites it never hit me the same as Gargomon and Rapidmon did. That’s one of the reasons Lopmon slightly edges it out as my all-time favorite, all of its evolutions are aces for me. But SaintGargomon’s awesome!!!!

I feel like a very obvious Digimon to do next, that we probably won’t get, is Sakuyamon. We just got Dukemon and Beelzebumon, so we’re currently doing Tamers, we don’t have any female designs in the line yet (which are apparently popular considering how many MS Girls they’ve done recently), and Renamon is one of the most poplar Digimon period. Feels like a no-brainer. The issue with doing Sakuyamon is it’s almost an obligation to do SaintGargomon to complete the set, who is canonically enormous. Also, I’ll say again and again, I want combining Shoutmon X4 or X7. Those designs need some proper toy love.

Most likely we’ll actually get something like Diablmon/Diaboromon or Alphamon.

The Good: Big, very posable, very solid. This was a very fun build from a construction perspective. In particular, I really liked the chest, sword, and cape. They all had interesting elements to them, such as the parts layering or the sticker usage.

It also comes with a ton of adapters so you can attach parts from the previous kits to him: • WarGreymon’s wings in place of the cape using his own adapter. • MetalGarurumon’s wings (in one of two forms) in place of the GreySword using an included adapter and his missiles in one of the knee ports. • Imperialdramon’s cannon in one of the knee ports. • Dukemon’s lance in place of the GaruruCannon using an included adapter and his shield in place of the  cape using an included adapter. • Mugendramon’s cannons (entire unit) in place of the cape (no adapter) or (just cannons) to the back of the waist using an included adapter. It’s a lot of customization that I’m not entirely sure what to do with. But it’s cool, though.

The Bad: While it doesn’t impede his posability, he is very pointy and stuff can bump into each other. Also, particularly with his arms, they have a lot of range, but it’s very awkward to adjust the black parts of his arms and sometimes the shoulders, especially with how large his “hands” are and how those particular joints work.

Also, as predicted, while the sculpting is all new it borrows a lot from Dukemon.

The Details: So, as always, I did the bit of panel lining this kit had in metallic red to emulate Children’s War Game. This kit also had a number of metallic green stickers, but since I was doing the red I replaced them with metallic red paint to bring the look together. There were also 3 translucent green parts that I repainted as well.

I spent way too much time detailing the bottom of the feet, which no one will ever see, including myself.

I redid all the gold plastic with paint, and added a few extra details around the chest, waist, and ankles. Apart from that, there were a few small areas where I added black (collar, hands, crotch, knees, feet, cape harness), and I repainted the eyes instead of stickering them.

Overall, I think this is a very interesting kit. The level of proposed customization is a cool touch, though I don’t know if I will take advantage of it myself, but apart from that it’s just a very solid kit.

Hopefully his friends would go along with it- Beelzemon would hop up to his feet, rollerskate attachments on his boot, before he triumphantly sings: “Truly, Beauty, I LOVE YOU! I shout it your way. I know, YOU LOVE ME!” He punches the air with the first ‘I love you’ before raising his fist to the sky, before doing it with his other arm for ‘You love me.’ Surrounding him are Dukemon, looking confused, SaintGargomon, Andromon and Andiramon. In an instant, they all begin to skate out. “Declare it today! The dress you wear, your hair, oh can’t you tell?~ Those Glass slips fit you well~!” Beelzemon skates past the camera, opening his arms out in an arc, before skidding to a halt.  “Two by two, we STEP & GO!” He lifts his leg out behind him, before jumping up and pirouetting into the air, landing down with a hand to his chest. “Until the Midnight bell tolls-” Dukemon and Andromon do front flips as Beelzemon backflips over them, landing and wagging his finger- “BUT YOU KNOW! Even though the day unfolds, our hopes, our love, is telling ya!” The Digimon group he suckered into doing this skate by the camera, before Beelzemon slides to a knee, lifting a hand up to the sky. “No matter what, you’re my Cinderelllaaaaaaaaaaaa~! Hey! Hey, Hey!” The song finishes with all the Digimon devolving back into their Rookie Stages, tired.

The Saint Bernard aspect of saintgargomon was probably lost on most translators due to the fact every evolution prior to that one is in fact a rabbit not a dog despite the names of some of them

The "galgo" in its name is a reference to a Spanish galgo hound!! They changed it to gargo because ????

We talked about the Twin Digimon last week. This week, I wanna take a closer look at their (standard) evolution lines.

As you can see, they each have a "regular" and a "dark" evolution line. In Lopmon's case, the "dark" evolution line specifically has a corruption theme. This is, of course, because Lopmon and its entire "dark" line were designed for the movie Hurricane Touchdown, which had its corruption as the main plot point. As a result, Lopmon's lines are very different from each other, while Terriermon only gets simple classic recolors.

Possibly the most corrupted among them is Wendimon.

Wendimon first gets introduced in the movie, and it posesses a chilling presence throughout all of it. However, not just Hurricane Touchdown, but all iterations of Wendimon, across the franchise's media, depict it as somehow corrupted beyond reason, usually not even being able to talk in cohesive sentences.

I wanna take a short moment to talk about its name origin. I'll not delve into too much detail, as I'm sure there are more educated people on this topic, but Wendimon is named after an evil spirit from Anishinaabe cultures, which name you are not supposed to say, as to not draw the spirit to you. I just wanted to share, in case some of you weren't aware.

But, moving on

The "regular" adult levels Gargomon and Turuiemon. Comparing the two, I really like how Gargomon has a long-range armed combat theme and Turuiemon a close-range combat theme. Gargomon, as mentioned before, appeared in Hurricane Touchdown and appeared plenty in Tamers as Jian's partner. Turuiemon, unfortunately, didn't have any big appearances until recent years. It had its debut in December 2001 as a card in Hyper Coloseum, in a Tamers themed booster.

Next up are Lopmon's perfect Level evolutions, Antylamon and Antylamon (Deva). The original Antylamon from Hurricane Touchdown is a Virus type. For Tamers, they decided to have Antylamon as the Deva representing the Hare, and so a Data type variant was created. It had its debut in Hyper Coloseum, in a booster featuring all Deva, a month before first seen in the anime at the end of 2001. The biggest visual difference is the purple scarf of Antylamon (Deva), but it also has a crest, like all Deva, on its chestplate (more on that maybe at some point?). Video games predominantly feature Antylamon (Deva) over Antylamon (Virus).

Now, if you remember, Terriermon and Lopmon were specifically designed for the movie Hurricane Touchdown. With Terriermon first showing up in its child form and Lopmon in its adult form, Wendimon, Gargomon and Antylamon are each twins' first evolution we get to see them actually evolve into during the movie. Because of this, it's interesting to me that these two share a distinct symbol, Antylamon on its arms and Gargomon on its face.

Another evolution we get introduced to in the Hurricane Touchdown movie is Rapidmon (Armor). Most people are probably more familiar with the green Perfect level Rapidmon as we see it in Tamers. Looking at the Digimental of Fate, you can see the classic Armor Digimon - Digimental resemblance. Rapidmon's abdomen comes from the sphere part of the Digimental, the base below that resembles its boots, and the wing on top resembles the ear-wings. Because the Perfect level Rapidmon uses essentially the same design, the jump from Gargomon to Rapidmon seems a lot bigger than the one from Terriermon to Gargomon. On a little side note, the official Bandai artwork of Rapidmon (Perfect) has an open helmet, even though the anime uses a closed helmet like the Rapidmon (Armor). BlackRapidmon, despite being a recolor, has a closed helmet as well.

Lastly, a short look at Cherubimon (Virtue) and Cherubimon (Vice). Both of them, again, debuted in the movie Hurricane Touchdown, which influenced their design. We get to see the corrupted, mad Cherubimon (Vice) first and only briefly see it in its Cherubimon (Virtue) form.

I believe the simple but effective changes between their designs were in part to allow this nice transition at the end of the movie.

The Lopmon line, especially, gets used in a lot of media for the sake of corruption/dark evolution story lines. Most noteworthy, Cherubimon (Vice) is the (first) main villain in the Digimon Frontier Anime season.

Digimon Rumble Arena 3 idea

I’ve been watching some competitive play of Rumble Arena and I decided how to make a “Rumble Arena 3″ that features all the best parts of both.

Because All Star Rumble is garbage and deserves to be forgotten.

Four players is obvious, eight maybe.

Evolution will be like Rumble Arena one. A base form and then a evolved form, which can be downgraded after using a Super.

Using Rumble Arena 1 as a base roster we can do:

You would simply choose a character that would lead your character down through a series of fights, after defeating one of the three bosses (Vamdemon, Lucemon, Bagramon) you will be taken to a bonus stage akin to Battle Spirit, but here you face against Neo from Digimon Next.

Stages: Not really sure what type of stages we need, but we need stages that feel much like come from the show itself. The only ones that ever felt right was the Dark Web and Crazy Toy town. Everything else always felt vague.

Items: Combination of both RA 1 and 2. We need for items to be represent from the series like in RA 1 as most from 2 were generic. But the “digivice items” from RA 2 can also return such as “Digivolution Convolution.”

We also need a “Summonable” type of item like with “Summon Phantomon” akin to Pokeball/Assist Trophies to get more monsters fighting.

The Extra attack from Rumble arena 2 will also return, would be fun to add an axtra attack to evolved forms.

So...Long time no see. Friends persuaded me to come back in Digimon Masters. The game is updated and changed, but one thing has remained unchanged - terrible quality of textures (but there are exceptions). I didn't put up with it. Why is my favorite digimon should look like a piece of s...khem...sorry, emotions. You know what I mean. Ok, peoples. Time to change appearance of your favorite digimon for the better.
