Emily Oberg is annoying enough as it is and I can usually ignore when people use horse stuff in advertising but clearly don’t know what they’re doing but. the new sporty & rich drop is just so overtly and inexcusably bad. Plus she has her new adidas partnership which is too little too late after all those women in tennis were like yeah her stuff sucks. Like how do you have a company called sporty & rich and everyone who rides horses and everyone who plays tennis hates you?? Idk if the golf community has enough young people who want tacky sweatshirts to keep your brand alive. would love to see some numbers on all this

Phew, adventure done. Why I thought driving back and forth to a major city on a Friday afternoon was a good idea is a mystery to me, but here we are. Saddle is dropped off at the tack shop. I also ended up going to two different tack shops to try on helmets. First shop I tried on the CO Ary8 that I have been wanting to try, and it was a nope, but the lady helping me said that the model they have in stock is specifically a round, and they do come in oval too, but I would have to order that. Ugh. I also tried on the Uvex MIPs helmet, but it just a) looks so goofy in general and b) always looks like it's perched on top of my head instead of around my head. The comfort is about middle of the road. Could I school in it? Probably. Would I show in it? No. Do I need a helmet that I can do both in? Yes.

I tried the One K long oval for a second time, and honestly, this time I didn't like it as much as I did the first time I tried it in my local tack shop. Looking back I kind of wonder if maybe the sizing wasn't right, because at my local tack shop it was insanely comfortable. I also tried Samshield. They have tested pretty poorly in the past up until the VT study where they tested middle of the pack. A good friend of mine swears by hers and says it's the only thing that fits her also very oval head. It was pretty horrible on mine.

So, I progressed to the second tack shop, the one that I was actually dropping my saddle off at to consign. They were much more helpful with the helmet fitting there. I tried the Ovation M, which is their new MIPS helmet, and it was just not quite right. I tried the One K long oval again, because why not, and it was...better at this tack shop? But still not as comfortable as I remember it being at my local tack shop. Again, I wonder if the sizing wasn't quite right, but the lady was definitely handing me 60 and 61 size helmets, I was double checking everything going on my head, something I hadn't done at the first tack shop. I tried the CO Halo, which I had been excited to try, and it was again, just not quite right. Kind of like my current CO MyPS that I show in. It's not horrible, like I can show in it and even school in it when I want to, but it's just not quite right. The lady helping me actually said that they were getting rid of all of their CO stock and not replenishing because they were finding them tricky to fit to people, which I found an interesting tid-bit of information. She handed me a Samshield to try, and I obliged her even though I had tried it on at the previous tack shop already. It was still horrible.

Then she handed me a Kask. Now, I had never considered a Kask before. In my head Kask is one of pretentious brands that is all about optics and brand recognition, and not so much about safety. In fact, Kask has even made some statements that they feel their helmets don't need MIPs in them because they are just that safe. Studies are....torn on that. And then I put it on my head. Y'all. It was like this helmet was custom made to fit my head shape. It was glorious. The skies opened up. The angels started singing. I cried inside when I saw the price tag. I now have some serious thinking to do.

In case y'all are wondering where the heck this is coming from... I had a TBI in 2019 when I fell off of Sydney. Snow came off of the roof of the indoor. I was relaxing on her back putting on my gloves at the start of my ride. I didn't have my hands on the reins or my feet in the stirrups. I went headfirst into the arena wall, and then as I slid down the wall her hock came in contact with the other side of my head. I immediately switched to a MIPs helmet. They had just started hitting the market around then, and honestly, I have been chasing a well-fitting helmet ever since. I am obsessed with helmet safety because of the medical problems I am dealing with since my TBI, but I also spend many hours each week in my helmet, and I really, really just want one that stops leaving imprints on my forehead or slowly squeezes my head into a headache. It's been a very frustrating problem to have and is why I have owned so many different brands of MIPs helmets. First Trauma Void, then CO MyPS (which is now my show helmet and leaves an indent on my forehead), and most recently the Tipperary Windsor, which slowly squeezes my head to death. Ugh. Finding a well-fitting and safe helmet should not be this hard.

I’ve decided to take my saddle to a tack shop to consign. I am shuddering at the 30% commission, but I am tired of people disrespecting my time and my stuff, and I’ve already lost money on shipping it back and forth 3 times and driving it to a barn once for people to trial. Twice it was returned to be absolutely filthy. I picked a tack shop near the biggest city in my state, so it’s a bit of a trek to get there, but I am hoping with the foot traffic they get, the more affluent area that they are in, and the fact that they have a really good website and social media presence that it will get sold a lot faster.

I am also kind of excited to make this trip because they have two of the higher end CO helmets that I have been wanting to try in stock, the Halo and the Ayr8. The Ayr8 isn’t a MIPs helmet, which makes me nervous, but it does test really well in the VT test. It is 11th in their rankings with a 4 star rating. I would have to wait until Black Friday or Christmas sales to bring down the prices of either of those, but I am excited to get the chance to put them on my head.

My BROTP for them: carol/tony. he sponsors her aa meetings, she humours him. they're both deeply troubled superheroes and they have plenty of water under the bridge (civil war 2 in the comics being a particularly sore point) but at the end of the day, they care for one another and love each other very much

My OTP for them: carol/rhodey, they're soulmates pls. she thinks war machine pinups are sexy~ 🥺 

My second choice pairing for them: carol/maria in the mcu & carol/jess in the comics. i was looking forward to more pilotwives in captain marvel 2 but of course the capitalist rat won't let us have nice things. 😒

My fluffy pairing for them: probably carol/rhodey, where she'll take him to her base on the moon for a date and he'd just swoon over how much of a romantic she's at heart. they'd also spend summer planetside babysitting lila, where carol and lila would play all the pranks on rhodey (and tony, who's come to visit)

My angsty pairing for them: carol/maria. maria spends six years mourning the love of her life, fighting to get the military to at least acknowledge that carol died a hero, but to no avail. and when carol comes back for a brief second, when it seems like life can return to how it used to be, she's gone and maria is left staring at the stars in the night sky, wondering where her girlfriend is, what she is doing, if she's okay.

My favorite poly ship for them: carol/rhodey/maria. because rhodey would absolutely be in love with both of his badass colleagues, who can outfly him on any given day. maria thinks the war machine pinups are cringe but she secretly has a stash of GQ/Men's Health cutouts of rhodey hidden away 👀

My weirdest pairing for them: carol/strange. it's something kelly thompson is experimenting with in the comics and while i'm still mad af that she broke carolrhodey up for this, i am a little curious to see where this goes, caveat being she dumps him and reconciles with mr platypus.

I am beyond new to all things Sims CC making but I was feeling creative today and, while this may or may not have taken me many more hours than expected, lol, I am over-all pretty proud of myself with the result! Is it perfect? Pfft, not even close. Will it "do"? Maybe, lol. I just wanted to have the same Helmet I own and ride in IRL (I use my Samshield strictly for Hunter and Equitation Horse Shows! I ride in a well-loved/used GPA Speed-air for schooling!)  to be in the game for my sim to wear. 

At first I was just going to make this for myself only but thought, eh, what the heck..Maybe someone else out there might just like it and want it for their sim also!

Hopefully I am not embarrassing myself to much with my first ever shared CC, lol.

This is a re-color of the EA riding Helmet (BTW- I did all of this with JUST a mouse, and it about killed me, my shoulder and hand are numb at this point lol-ouch)

I built my dream tackroom! 

This holds all my horses gear, rugs, feed and supplements. I’ve made it waterproof, and the room is sealed, lined and insulated to prevent any unwanted spiders, moisture, rats etc! 

I’m so overwhelmed by how good it looks and how functional it is, not to mention all the furniture was basically free on gumtree!
