GALTx eNews: Santa Is Coming!

GALT's Holiday Boutique will be open from 10:30 to 5:00 pm on November 25 and 26, 2023, at 8416 Preston Road in Dallas. The location is in Preston Center just north of Bachendorf's Jewelry.

Santa photos will be available from 11:00 to 5:00 both days and you can reserve a time by signing up here. We will also accommodate walk-ins to the extent possible. The photos cost $35 for a zip drive, plus any donation you would like to add. Mark Nardecchia of Shagly Photography will be our photographer. All dogs must be on leashes at all times.

The Boutique will offer a selection of our GreytStore inventory and some new merchandise too! The 2024 GALT Calendars and the 2024 Celebrating Greyhounds Wall Calendars and Desk Planners will be available for purchase. In addition to an array of stunning greyhound-themed art, jewelry, and gift baskets, this year's raffle will include a special Grand Prize: an 8” x 10” custom portrait by April Heffley! Of course, the proceeds will go to help the GALT hounds so you can shop guilt free!

We need volunteers to help us make this event as "greyt" as it can be including help with setting up on Friday and tearing down on Monday. If you can help, please email our volunteer coordinator at volunteers@galtx.org.

Christmas pictures did not go well yesterday and I was near tears afterwards. The set is beautiful and what I wanted but the whole thing was ruined. I saw maybe 3 pictures out of the measly 20 she took that I liked or were acceptable. She rushed us. She tilted the camera SO BADLY because she was tired. She missed shots of M with Santa (who was doing a phenomenal job) because she was tired. She didn’t get much of the set in the pictures. Also some of her helpers hands or legs blocked several of the good shots. She also didn’t get as many photos to preview as in previous years.

I am devastated. I paid for extra pictures but I have nothing to show for it. She likely won’t re-shoot because she will say “M was being a baby” but dude YOU were tired and fucking up. I was courteous & didn’t have my phone out but I could have done a better job with my shitty iPhone X.

I now have another photographer on standby because of this. If I can’t find 5 pictures I like (and mind you, I ordered 10) I will make her refund me & get photos done with the other person.

I am so so devastated because these were with Santa 🎅🏻

This was taken with 2/3 stop of negative exposure compensation but that apparently wasn’t enough to darken away some distracting foliage at the upper left corner of the image. So in post, this corner was ‘burned’ and darkened.

GALTx eNews: Santa Vern Is Back!

Santa Vern is back this year at GALT's Friends & Family Pictures & Shopping! So be sure to bring your hounds (all breeds welcome) out for holiday pictures and shopping on Saturday, November 26, and Sunday, November 27, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, at the Houn House Training Building, 4926 Dozier Road, Carrollton, Texas, 75010. The shop will offer a great selection of GALT swag, collars from Laura Pope, fun quilts by Janny, and more! The bargain section will include gently used coats, crates, and other items. We will also hold fun raffles with great prizes!

Santa photos are available for a minimum donation of $35 and you leave with your photos by Shagly Photography on a USB flash drive. We will do our best to accommodate walk-ins. If you prefer, you can reserve a time that is convenient for you here.
