I can’t believe I even have to come on here and say this, but let’s get one thing absolutely straight; racists and bigots do not belong in this fandom. You can take one look at the Na’vi, glorify and obsesses over their fashion, over their hairstyles, arguably their facial features too, when this fictional race is very clearly inspired from not only African likeness, but also numerous indigenous groups across the world. At the end of the day the physical and even some of the cultural attributes you like about the Na’vi are in these different cultures and groups of people, yet you see no problem being disgusting and nasty to them and talk down to them just for being another skin color than you?? Make it make sense.

I want to briefly make a disclaimer that this ask was not sent to me, but was sent to another blogger in this fandom BY another Avatar fan. I am so utterly appalled that anyone, fandom or not is using this sort of language WITH ANYONE. The audacity to come into this fandom that is supposed to have the ideology of respecting those who are different than ourselves and then saying some shit like this to another person in the fandom??? Undeniably disgusting and heartbreaking.

Ooo of course I can help you babes!

My first piece of advice is if you don’t have direct access to the game, watch some play throughs! Get a feel for the characters that way and make your own conclusions about their personalities and traits.

Here is just a couple things I note about each of them though (keep in mind these are my own personal notes mixed with some actual canonical information):

Teylan:

He was the youngest of the Sarentu children that were captured by the RDA. All he’s ever really known is the human’s way of life. Over time he learned (or was unconsciously trained) that survival meant pleasing his human abusers when he could. To put it in layman’s terms: baby boy has Stockholm syndrome. When they finally escaped the TAP facility, Teylan struggled the most with adapting to a life of freedom, losing his sense of “comfort” in the structured life style he was used to. Personality wise, Teylan is a people pleaser. He can be a bit timid, but he’s a golden retriever at heart, Teylan’s wish is for everyone to get along.

So’lek:

So’lek is one of the remaining survivors of his clan. After having fought in the battle for the hallelujah mountains, So’lek chose the route of the lone survivor instead of melting into another clan like the few remaining members of his own had done. Instead So’lek was fueled by revenge, doing his part in taking down the RDA. When he joined the resistance So’lek was hesitant to work alongside the humans and still has a difficult time putting his full trust in them, yet he sees them as his allies all the same. While So’lek is usually seen as a cold giant, he definitely has a bit of a soft spot if you look in the right places. This man has duality to a T, going between being caring and compassionate to a force of nature when the moment arises. He speaks more with his actions than he does with words.

I honestly had a feeling Neteyam liked Tsireya too, it just made too much sense. Like it’s just so obvious that of course the moment he saw Lo’ak looking at her too that he would step aside for him. It breaks my heart that she had to watch Neteyam die not to mention stay alone with his body after the fact😭

Part of me wonders if she was interested in him too at some point. Like of course she’s gonna end up with Lo’ak, but I still can’t help, but be curious.

Like just from this clip alone, Tsireya holds eye contact with Neteyam for quite a bit, only really looking at Lo’ak for a second👀

Also if you look reeeeeally closely, you can see Neteyam’s ears flick forward when she looks/approaches him. He’s so cute omg bb in love

like ok not 100% romance but some flirty interactions would’ve been cool

I feel like there are tho. Some of the characters have physical touch as their love language and it shows. ALSO the way So’lek talks/looks at us sometimes??? It almost makes me think they had a romance route planned, but scrapped it last minute

Lost and Found / Special Friends by @pandoraslxna because holy fucking shit, just yes- no questions asked

Charming Killer by @writing-makes-me-human is such a good series (yet to be finished so be wary of that) another one of the first fics I read and I was OBSESSED and I’m so sad that this blog has been afk for so long😭
