So...Yeah.
I know it’s been forever since I last posted something here...I’d like to say that I’m sorry for that, but frankly I don’t feel the need to apologize for the fact that life has kicked my ass. I have a side blog that details some of the things I go through, a journal of sorts that I’ve started at my doctor’s request. If you’re interested in learning about my crazy brain, look it up. It’s called Sarcasmloading.
I will, however, say that I missed using this platform as a means of expressing my creativity. I’ve been posting more on my DeviantArt account and plan to do even more artwork in the future as I won an art grant through them. If you’re interested in seeing my artwork here’s a link. I might post some stuff on here, but I’m not sure if that will be my main focus for my Tumblr.
That said I found something new to use as a challenge for said creativity for this particular site. I picked up a book at my local bookstore, a writing prompt book that I think will not only help my writing grow but keep me invigorated for writing my own stuff. Any of you who actually read my dribble feel free to join along, use the challenges as a means to push yourself. That’s what I’m going for, especially since some of these prompts are bound to be out of my comfort zone.
I’ll be posting the first of the writing prompts in a while, but here are the rules for anyone who wants to join in on this little experiment.  I plan on doing at least one prompt a week, possibly more if I’m bored and have some free time.
1) you have to use the prompt (DUH!)
2) you need to ‘complete’ the story- What I mean by this is that you have to at least conclude the prompt itself even if the story might go on.
3) Word length- This is a lofty goal for myself, but I have a nasty habit of letting things spiral into 100k monsters of writing which isn’t the point of his exercise. It’s totally fine if you fall in love with something and choose to expand upon it later. However, the point of this is to just work on wrapping up the prompt as it is given.  I’m shooting for no longer than 1k, though I really hope that I don’t go near that long as I plan to do all the ones in the books which would ultimately be a shit ton of writing XD.
If you want to purchase the exact book that I’m using, here’s the link on Amazon. It’s called Complete the story and according to Amazon, there are 204 pages in it. One prompt per page so theoretically 204 prompts if the page count doesn’t include the whole publishing pages.
4) I’m an avid reader of horror, love the stuff. I’m also an avid user of Sarcasm, who would have guessed right? I’m hoping to use that combination of things to write new and interesting ‘endings’ to the prompts in the books even if the prompts themselves don’t appear to be fitted for the horror genre. Part of the challenge XD, that said I will give myself some leeway to deviate if a particular prompt strikes my fancy. Choose a genre or mix and match as you see fit.
And finally, if you’re going to join along we should all use a hashtag to find each other's works. I think being able to share what people do with the same prompt is amazing, a great insight into how other people’s mind see something. So, since I’m the one starting this little bandwagon, why don’t we use the hashtag #Sarcasmwrites
I look forward to possibly seeing some work from other people, but I’m content to continue talking to myself if need be XD. Let me know if you’re partaking in this particular challenge.
