Tsuruoka read history books about Gilles back when recording for Zero, and even back then had in mind how he wanted sane Gilles to sound, years before Saber Gilles and FGO were a thought.

He thought like "Gilles was a real person from history, he didn't start crazy, so I need a voice for his base before adding crazy to it. How did he turn out the way he was and how did Jeanne affect him?"

Again this was back during Zero, which Kawasumi even asked him to clarify to be sure. We had no idea a sane Gilles would ever even appear and Tsuruoka was thinking about this

Fate Series characters’ voice actors as Prince of Tennis characters!!

Hello friends! Thank you very much for 300 followers!! I’m so surprised at the rate this blog has grown since it was first introduced to Tumblr and I’m very thankful and I look forward to your future support! 

So I realized you guys really liked my last post about Emiya and Ozymandias, and I thought, hey why not do something like that again! I enjoy finding fun facts too. 

This time, I’m taking us back to the oldies (not really but kind of still), and do a comparison of Fate Series’ character voices (JP) and the voices of Prince of Tennis! I mentioned how I’ve been rewatching PoT before, and I noticed so many of the voices line up w different Fate servants/characters so I just have to do a comparison post! Totally not a conventional comparison though, like PoT radiates early 2000′s shounen energy in all its weird zoom shots, angles, and op af middle schoolers and Fate is out here as the world’s most entertaining but worst AP World History class lmao. But all in all, I still hope you enjoy!

1. Ryotaro Okiayu as: 

Fate Series: Lancelot (Saber & Berserker), Vlad III, Julius Caesar, Phantom of the Opera, and Romulus.

Prince of Tennis: Kunimitsu Tezuka (op as fuck captain of Seigaku) 

Both Lancelot and Tezuka are op as fuck so I guess his voice=op characters lmao.

2. Kenjiro Tsuda as:

Fate Series: Sigurd

Prince of Tennis: Sadaharu Inui (glasses and juice bitch, Seigaku)

TsudaKen’s crystallized wisdom energy is strong.

3. Satoshi Tsuruoka as:

Fate Series: Gilles de Rais (Saber & Caster), Arash, Caligula, Spartacus.

Prince of Tennis: Atsushi Kisarazu (Fudomine) and Munehiro Kabaji (Hyoutei)

Kabaji literally only says “usu” for most of the show so it’s hard to pick out Tsuruoka’s voice. Anyways, someone give him an award bc as much as we dislike Gilles, you have to admit the voice acting is impeccable.

4. Akira Ishida as:

Fate Series: Ryuunosuke Uryuu

Prince of Tennis: Hajime Mizuki (St. Rudolph’s data bitch)

Ryuunosuke is me when I flex my pen flipping skills at my classmates.

5. Kousuke Toriumi as:

Fate Series: Robin Hood, Asterios

Prince of Tennis: Kiyosumi Sengoku (rank EX luck smh, Yamabuki)

Ok look, these two literally have the EXACT SAME color scheme, w the green clothing and red hair, even the eyes. There’s genuinely no way Toriumi wasn’t hit w a wave of nostalgia when he voiced Robin bb.

6. Junichi Suwabe as:

Fate Series: Emiya, Emiya Alter, precious bb Siegfried

Prince of Tennis: Keigo Atobe (the og “I don’t speak broke” bitch, Hyoutei)

If you ever go onto Suwab(a)e’s Twitter or Instagram, take the chance to admire his super cute dog Zero for about a day or two.

When I watch PoT, I constantly need to remind myself they are MIDDLE SCHOOLERS, not even HS like most shounen sports anime. It literally makes 0 sense though bc they all sound like they’ve gone through puberty twice over, but that’s sports manga for you I guess lol. It’s still one of my favorite series of all time though so I was even more ecstatic when I heard some familiar Fate voices!

I was a little shocked to learn TFP Starscream is voiced by Steve Blum, but not as shocked as I was when I learned he shares a seiyuu with Tamami from DiU. Like wow, Satoshi Tsuruoka is just really good at playing spinless characters who are good at gaslighting people and being really really punchable, huh?

I saw your SF post and heard that Oshi no Ko's getting an anime, do you read it? How would you cast it?

My Danganronpa-poisoned brain demands Makiko Oomoto as Ai, but seeing that's a really unrealistic request, I'll go with Haruka Tomatsu.

Aqua fits Hiroshi Kamiya and Ruby fits Ayane Sakura, but I like the twins casting decision FGO does for Dioscuri, so maybe we can have the Uchida siblings are the reincarnation twins and the two better picks as Gorou and Sarina? I'm not sure on this one.

Kana can have Ai Kayano for simply no reason other than that Kana Arima deserves only the best. Although the actual best, Miyuki Sawashiro, doesn't fit her as great as she fits Miyako.

Akane is entirely made of Saori Hayami vibes, I didn't have to stop to think on this one.

Memcho can be Rie Kugimiya. She can do the dumb mascot voices when necessary. Pieyon has to be Sugita, of course.

Satoshi Tsuruoka is an underrated VA with enough dad experience to do Director Gotanda. I like their fit.

I don't know who else can be considered relevant enough here. Maybe the mangakas? Perhaps Maaya Sakamoto for Kichijouji-sensei and Yui Ishikawa for Abiko-sensei.

i like tfp but starscream in that show is. just ok imo. not bad not good, they have funny lines but thats the long n short of them to me. but i ADORE cyberverse starscream, which is funny since the dub in japan makes a joke about cyberverse star being the exact same as tfp star and them having the same voice actor! i love how these odd little things add up

cyberverse starscream is GOLDEN like i honestly wish they just stayed on the route of making them a petty little cunt because jackass bully starscream is so hilarious. kicked bumblebee out of the game of cube just because she didn't like his vibes. that's so fucking funny and i love it. also satoshi tsuruoka rehearsing his role as starscream in cyberverse is poggers.
