Hermes Paddock, Crivelli Tubereuse Astrale, Ffern Spring 2024 and Eau D'Italie reviews - 2024
An Hermes that's taken us by surprise: Paddock, composed by Christine Nagel. Also reviewed: new releases from Crivelli and Ffern.
Despite the (extremely off-putting) technical glitches, I broadcast a few more reviews over on YouTube the other day, including one of an entirely unexpected Hermes exclusive called Paddock, composed by Christine Nagel. Other videos focused on Crivelli Tubereuse Astrale (Quentin Bisch), Ffern Spring 2024 (Elodie Durande) and the entire range from Eau D’Italie. Here are links to all the episodes,…

Body Receiveȿ the Diamond! Julien Anquetin is the Win of the €400, 000 Hermès Grand Prix CSI 5*
Paris, France – March 18, 2024 – The statue of the French general Maréchal Joffre situated in front of the Military Academy at the entrance to the Grand Palais Éphémère, surely appreciated the showstopping sight. The grand finale of the thirteenth edition of the Saut Hermès, the €400, 000 Hermès Grand Prix CSI 5* saw French horse Julien Anquetin ( FRA ) take the crown after an incredible bounce- off with his 13- yr- old Selle Français horse, Blood Diamond du Pont. The Frenchman taμght the audience a lesson in managing and crossed the line in 34. 64 seconds when the next person entered the arena in the nine-way juɱp-off. Spectacular.
Julien Épaillard ( FRA ) &amp, Donatello d’Auge
The victory was undoubtedly in the cards at that time, given the rivals who were expected to take their chances, starting with Julien Épaillard ( FRA ), who is regarded as the fastest rider in the world, who had purposefully held Donatello d’Auge back for this Grand Prix. The Frenchman, earth No. 4 and bronze medallist at the last European Championships, even went all out with his danger- taking in each of his paths. Nevertheless, the clock suddenly stopped at 34”92, only 28 hundredths of a subsequent behind his friend αnd friend.
René Lopez Lizarazo ( COL ) &amp, Kheros van’T Hoogeinde
World No. Henrik von Eckermann ( SWE), a Swedish riḑer, then made one mistake about Iliana. Solely the Colombian rider René Lopez Lizarazo ( COL ) with Kheros van’t Hoogeinde, managed to come close as he completed his jump- off in 35 ”96. This day the podium was clear. The most European of Colombians, the latter having settled in Lorraine in north-eastern France nearly 40 years ago, are on the floor with two French users on the two best two spots and next. &nbsp,
Julien Anquetin ( FRA ) &amp, Blood Diamond du Pont
” It’s the finest victory of my career, &nbsp, admits Julien Anquetin ( world No. 72 ), aged 32. &nbsp, I’m on cloud nine. I’m having trouble focusing on it. I’ve already won a Grand Prix in a CSI 5* class ( La Coruña in 2023 ) but winning here in France is unbelievable. In the leap- off, I think my U- change was the finest of my whole career. I was relieved when Julien Épaillard also made the jump-off because I was very motivated by the idea of pitting myself against the fastest horse in the world. I promised myself that we would have some fun together. It was a great problem. Although I was aware that I had a quick jump-off, watching the others was quite stressful. My horses has once more been amazing. This horse and I competed in our first global shows. This success is quite the success”.
Julien Épaillard ( FRA ) &amp, Donatello d’Auge
However, coming next now is undoubtedly not a letdown. &nbsp,” I’m actually quite glad for Julien and I’m happy to be where I am, &nbsp, confesses Julien Épaillard. I’ve had a somewhat terrible trip with 4 penalty points on three occasions, so it’s a great end to the competition. In the jump- off, I tried to save some time at the start but my U- turn was not exceptional. I may have struggled a little bit at the last fence, too. I was n’t daring enough to try it with one less stride. There’s no use going back over it though. Julien was the best. And it’s great to see that there are some youngsters pushing us along” . &nbsp,
René Lopez Lizarazo ( COL ) &amp, Kheros van’T Hoogeinde
Rene Lopez ( COL), who was really on the offensive, thriIled thȩ audience righƫ away, and his third place has restored his smile after falling in the first class on Friday. ” I’m very happy … even if first place is best, &nbsp, smiles Rene Lopez. I had the horse to win, and I was so determined to do so, but the jump-off itself proved challenging. The horse, who has participated in numerous clear rounḑs, is pleased with the outcome. I’m pleased for him because his owner, Mr. Bertrand Darier, has long trusted him. I’m thrilled”.
In the first act, a complicated home straight, which notably included a set of double fences, caused numerous faults among the fifty riders, as was the case for individual Olympic champions, world number 2 Ben Maher ( GBR ) and world number 3 Steve Guerdat ( SUI), both Hermès partner riders. The final upright also shattered the hopes of several well-known riders who had posted a perfect round right the end, including German rider Daniel Deusser ( GER ), French Olympic champions Philippe Rozier ( FRA ), and French champions Edward Levy ( FRA ), as well as French Olympic champions Philippe Rozier ( FRA ), and Kevin Staut ( FRA ). T
The allotted time (63 seconds ) set by Spanish course designer Santiago Varela Ullastres ( ESP), assisted by Frenchman Grégory Bodo ( FRA ), also prevented Belgian riders Pieter Devos ( BEL ) and Jérôme Guéry ( BEL), Hermès partner rider, and Julien Gonin ( FRA ), from posting clear rounds. &nbsp,
The home straight” caused a lot of faults,” but the course designer also credits that with calling for some very different levels of exertion in the first section. &nbsp, We’ve had a very fine Grand Prix. We designed the course, but the riders deserve praiȿe for staging a fantastic show.
Julien Anquetin ( FRA ) &amp, Blood Diamond du Pont during the awards ceremony

Christine Nagel On The Creation Of The New Hermes Oud Alezan And H24 Herbes Vives
An interview with Hermes in-house perfumer, Christine Nagel, on the creation of Oud Alezan and H24 Herbes Vives
“In my entire career, I’d made only one oud perfume. I didn’t like oud; I never had a passion for it. If you look on the market, there are many perfumes called Oud-Something, but I’ve done chromatography tests, and I know there isn’t much oud in them, or it’s not of high quality. One day, I was in my atelier, and a supplier arrived with raw materials. He gave me a blotter, and when I smelt it, I…

Paris, France – March 16, 2024 – With the ten best male users pitted against the ten best women riders from Friday’s Prix Hermès Sellier and vying for the next biggest prize of the opposition, the €105, 500 Saut Hermès is a group with two rounds and jumps set at 1. 55 meters. Sweden stunned the crowd at the Grand Palais Éphémère with the help of Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli’s 14-year-old Belgian Warmblood ( BWP ) mare Kalinka van de Nachtegaele. Ƭhis is the fifth win for a horse out of six groups in this version of the Saut Hermès. &nbsp,
Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli ( SWE ) &amp, Kalinka van de Nachtegaele
” I am very glad of Kalinka, &nbsp, said the beaming winner of today’s big prize. &nbsp, She jumped very well in both sessions. It feels totally amazing to win against rivals of such high caliber. The details are the key to this activity. There are times when everything works, and other times it does n’t. Now, everything was in my favour. I’m so blessed to be with all of my family at this fantastic venue.
Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli ( SWE ) &amp, Kalinka van de Nachtegaele
Nine horse and rider combinations scored a distinct round at the conclusion σf the first act, maƙing them ready for the second round, which calls for anothȩr beautiful achievement over the fences as quickly as possible. The period from the second round was used to distinguish those competition with ρoints standing.
Max Kühner ( AUT) &amp, EIC Up Too Jacco Blue
Last month’s winner of this group with Corioli des Isles, earth No. 8 Max Kühner ( AUT) hoped to add to his lead when he snatched the lead with a blisteringly quick 44 ”08 in the midst of an EIC Up Too Jacco Blue. He will have to settle for second place again this moment, if, after the Swedish rider had a gaping 21st of a minute to his. &nbsp,
Max Kühner ( AUT) &amp, EIC Up Too Jacco Blue
” Second is fine but certainly it’s not good enough, &nbsp, he lamented through his teeth. Jacco Blue has returned from a break, and I’ɱ pleased with him. He jumped also. It’s my problem. I wanted to play it safe by adding an extra stride down the home straight, but at this level of competition, a decision that wo n’t suffice to take the win.
Kristaps Neretnieks ( LAT ) &amp, Palladium KJV
Latvian Kristaps Neretnieks ( LAT ), who won the Prix Hermès Sellier with Quintes on Friday, is truly on a roll over the weekend in Paris by placing third on Palladium KJV.
Greek rider Ioli Mytilineou ( GRE ) and La Perla v. Heffinck and the rider from Liechtenstein, Jennifer Hochstadter ( LIE), the youngest female competitor in the class ( 20 years of age ), and Golden Lady, finish fourth and fifth respectively.

Part 2! Except I made this one on my computer so it actually has a title.
Parts: 1 2 3 4
This'll be the Zodiac Miraculous!
DRAGON:
Horde - I think if Alix got the Dragon miraculous she'd pick this name.
Uzushio - Maelstrom in Japanese. I feel like Kagami would pick something like this if she needed to pick a new name for the dragon.
Arashi - This would be another new name for Kagami. It means storm.
Easifa - Maelstrom in Arabic. I think Damian or Nino would pick something like this.
SNAKE:
Drake
Reine Serpent - Queen Snake. I think Juleka, or maybe Chloe would pick it. Aurore might pick something similar.
Hydra- Alix might pick something like this, or Kim might.
Sarcelle Serpent - Teal Serpent. I think Alya would pick something like this, it's similar to her hero name as Rena Rouge, basically the name of an animal and it's color.
Leviathan - Leviathan might fit better as a Dragon name, but I dunno. This name would fit Nathanael, I think he would like it.
Uroboros - The Uroboros is the image of a serpent eating its own tail. It symbolizes cycles, and I feel that's very fitting for someone like Max who would pick a name with a lot of history.
Gorgon - The Gorgon were the sisters of Medusa. They could not turn people to stone, though. It would suit Sabrina in my opinion.
Naga - The naga were snake people in Indian mythology.
Venimeux: Venimeux means poisonous. I think Alya or Kim would pick something like this.
RABBIT:
Bunny Blue - It's a cute name, and I think characters like Mirelle or Rose would pick it.
Lapin Bleue - Blue Rabbit in French. It is very similar to Bunny Blue, but I feel like it is cooler rather than cute. This seems like another Alya might pick.
Tems Saute - This name means Time Hop, which I think fits the Rabbit miraculous. It would fit Nathanael or Adrien.
Pendule - Pendule in French means Pendulum. It reminds me of the hands on a clock.
ROOSTER:
Matin Gloire - This means Morning Glory. It reminds me of both the flower and how roosters crow in the morning. I feel like Lila might pick this name. Sabrina might pick it too, though.
Courage Rouge - It means Red Courage, and I think Nathanael or Nino might pick it.
Gallo Aureo - This simply means Orange Rooster in Latin. I think Max would probably pick names in Latin.
MONKEY:
Babouin - This is simply Baboon in French. I think Luka or Nino might pick this.
GOAT:
Chèvre/Bouc - This name is Goat in French. I think Kim, Ivan, or Alix might pick this name.
Capricorn - Rose and Sabrina might pick something like this. I think it's cute, and would suit them.
Gävle - This is the name of the Yule goat. This name would suit someone like Aurore or Luka.
PIG:
Truie - This just means Pig in French. Maybe Mylene would pick this?
Petit Cochon - I've been trying to pick cute names for Rose. This just means piglet in French.
Boar - This name fits Ivan very well, but I also think it would fit Kim or Nino.
Moccus - Moccus was a Celtic god who was a protector of hunters and warriors. Ivan might also pick something like this.
Albina - Albina was a Etruscan goddess. She was a white sow (female pig). I've been picking names from mythology and goddesses for Alix. It would also fit Sabrina really well.
HORSE:
Hermés - I think this would be a good name, because Pegasus is already taken. Hermes was the greek god of messengers and travelers. He was known for being fast. This name would fit Marc, and I suppose Nathanael as well?
Portail - This would go well for Juleka? i like it for her.
Arion - Arion was a horse from greek mythology. He was incredibly fast, and ate pure gold. It would maybe be Kim? I could also see it for Alix.
Kelpie - Kelpies were horses in Celtic mythology that would drag people underwater. I think it would be a very good name for a villain horse. It would fit Lila well.
Caballo - Horse in Spanish.
Uma/うま - This would fit a horse Kagami. It is simply horse in Japanese.
Cheval Mallet
Grande Juement - Great Mare
Centaur
OX:
Beouf - Thia ia just Ox in French. I like this name for Kim or Adrien.
Fendu Sabots - Cloven Hooves in French. I think it would fit Marc very well. It sounds cool!
Taureau - This is Bull in French. It would fit Ivan very well.
RAT:
Pinkie - Pinkie is what baby mice are called. I think that's just really cute. I would pick Rose for this name.
Haquir Souris - This means Pipsqueak Mouse in Arabic. I think it would be good for Nino.
Piauler Doce - This name means Soft Squeak, and I think it would be a great name for Mylene. It's much better in my opinion than just re-using Multimouse.
DOG:
Hellhound - This one seems like it would be a good name for a villain. I'd put the Italian translation, but I don't really like it.
Stray - I think Sabrina would pick something like this. She gives me lonely vibes :(.
Cerberus - Cerberus had three heads and was the guard dog of the underworld in Greek mythology.
Garmr - This dog was the guardian of the Underworld in Norse mythology. I think Alix would pick the lesser known of two very similar figures in mythology. It is a little bit more villainous than Cerberus, so this could be a name for a villain.
Anubis - I think Alix might pick this, though. Anubis is based on a Jackal, and is the god of death in Egyptian mythology.
Wolfsbane - I dunno who'd pick this, but maybe Juleka would. I think it fits her aesthetic.
Timber Wolf
TIGER:
Zouyu - The Zouyu were depicted as lions, but sometimes also tigers. They are from Chinese mythology.
Tigris - This name just comes from the second half of a Tiger's scientific name, which is Panthera Tigris. I think this name would fit Adrien if you added orange or some translation for orange or red.
Bordeaux Rayure - This means Maroon Stripes. I think this name would fit Luka or Marc, maybe?
I don't have as many names for the Zodiac heroes. I wish I could've come up with more!
I had a document with a whole bunch of names, and I think I only picked the ones that I came up with, but let me know if I accidentally put one someone else came up with/is using already!
Feel free to use them, just credit me! :) Don't feel obligated to use the character I suggested though!

Dinosaur Nuggets
One of our head canons in this AU is that Orpheus is a vegetarian from a young age. This is that story.
-A
“Mama, what did you tell him?” She’s never necessarily been angry with her mom, rather than just frustrated. As she paces around her mother’s rustic kitchen, she sighs, rubbing one of her eyes with the heel of her hand. “What did you tell Orpheus..”
It had to be a conversation between Persephone and Demeter, as involving Hades would have gotten heated quickly, and Persephone didn’t have the heart to come between her mother and her husband, not right now.
“What do you mean, honey bee, I didn’t tell him anything I didn’t tell you?” Demeter promises, kissing her daughter’s cheek before she goes back to the cutting board, julienning some peppers for the vegetable pasta she was making the three of them for dinner. “He’s just more receptive than you were to what I had to say.”
“Mom, you know he’s so impressionable. He cried at dinner the other night. Cried, screamed, was completely heartbroken that his dinosaur nuggets might have come from a chicken that was friends with your chicken. He was crying because he thought he was eating Lucy’s friend. His words, not mine.” Persephone whispers, standing on her toes to watch out of the kitchen window above the sink, to see if Orpheus had made any progress towards coming inside.
Instead, her four year old  boy sat in Demeter’s chicken coop, surrounded by the various birds. In his lap sat the one he always spoke of, named Lucy, which was covered in white feathers. It sat on his lap as he tried to hug her, the bird spreading it’s wings in his arms in an attempt to get away. Regardless, she remained in his lap.
“Do you think he’ll get sick out there with those birds-” Persephone asks, biting her lip nervously, before dropping back on her heels and leaning her back against the sink.
“Persephone Beatrice I used to let you run around without shoes on and then not take a bath for a few days because I respected your free spirit. He will be fine.” Demeter assures her daughter, adding her sliced peppers to a hot saute pan. “He will be just fine.”
“You know I was a toddler, you could have told me to take a bath.”
“Well, as you got older I told you not to marry a city man from a rich family and you didn’t listen to me then, who’s to say you would have as a child?” She teases her, taking her hand and squeezing gently. “Orpheus is just an empathetic, kind soul. So what, he won’t eat meat. I don’t eat anything that comes from an animal, and i’m just fine. He will have enough to eat. It’s not the end of the world, Persephone.”
“I can only make three meals, mom! Three! Dinosaur Chicken Nuggets, Grilled Cheese, and Pasta with sauce from a jar! I can’t even make him Ramen now because it’s chicken flavored. We are down to two meals, so don’t you dare get him started on being a vegan, too!” She warns, shaking her head. “I now am down to two meals to make him.”
“Maybe it’s time you learn how to cook, hmm?” Demeter shrugs, handing Perspehone the rubber spatula she used to toss the onions and peppers in the pan. “It’s not terribly hard to do.”
“I married a man who can cook, we’ll have to live on grilled cheese in his absence.” Persephone rolled her eyes, setting the spatula down. “Or takeout. I’ve always been a fan of lo mein.”
“How is the million dollar man taking Orpheus’s dedication to animals? And hermes?”
“Don’t call him that. He’s fine with it, you know, he does cook so he doesn’t mind making something for him those three days of the week, and then Hermes, obviously, he’s good at it. But he’s also the king of peanut butter and jelly.” Persephone reminds playfully, breaking off a few pieces of raw pasta to eat while they talked. “We’ll be fine. He’ll be fine.”
“Of course you will. Orpheus will not be hard to take care of. He has a kind, loving heart. Which will get broken and hurt a few times. Like when Calliope came back-”
“Don’t mention that bitch, I should have killed her-” Persephone hisses, unknowingly tightening her fist in anger  and crackling the raw noodles inside.
“No, she is not worth violence. And she won’t be back. Not for a long, long while. But people will hurt him, because he loves so deeply. You will want to shield his heart, but it is inevitable.” Demeter admits as she adds the pasta to the water, as they stand and watch him play in the coop together.
“I can handle that, I can learn to help him. I can learn to make more options, maybe ungrilled cheese..but mama..” She sighs, leaning her head on Demeter’s shoulder. The older woman lays her head atop her daughter’s, patting her hand gently.
“Yes, honey love?” She whispers as she squeezes her daughter’s hand.
“Is he going to be happy? You talk about heart break and that horrible mother he has and people hurting him- is he going to be happy?” It’s a natural fear, she supposes, that Orpheus will spend his life hurting and on his own.
“Oh, of course he will be. Growing up, of course. He’ll have a wonderful life. It takes good parents, good people raising him, to make him so loving and empathetic. And he has those.” Demeter compliments as her arm wraps around Persephone’s shoulder, rubbing her upper arm sympathetically. “And when he’s grown? He’ll be so happy. So loved. So loving. So in love. He’ll have a wonderful, wonderful life.”
Persephone lets out a sigh she did not know she held, nodding in relief as Demeter affirmed her wishes, her goals and hopes for the boy she loves like her own son. “Thank you. Thank you. And thank you for letting us stay-”
It was no secret Persephone hated to be alone, on her own in their city apartment, when her husband was gone for work. Her mother was always so welcoming, always ready to have her baby back under her roof.
“Of course. This will always be your home Persephone. Now, as much as I love that boy enjoying his time out there, bring him in to wash up for dinner.” She instructs, patting Persephone’s arm gently.
“I thought he couldn’t get sick?” Her voice is light, teasing as she sends Persephone off to gather Orpheus for dinner.
“He won’t. Doesn’t mean I want him tracking dirt and feathers to my table.”
With a laugh, she slips out towards the back door. “Mama? I love you.”
“I love you too, Persephone.”
