How to get Microsoft 365 for Free
How to get Microsoft 365 for Free
Do you want to get your Microsoft 365 Plan for free? There are some options you should try first.
I know, the prospect of a free Microsoft 365 sounds kind of farfetched. But itâs not. If there is a legal way that you donât have to pay, youâll find it here.
Of course, one way is to simply get the free trial of Microsoft 365 if you donât have it already. This is limited but will give you a chance to try it before you buy.
Here are some ways to get full edition of Microsoft 365
1. Get Microsoft 365 through your school
Microsoft offers Microsoft 365 Education for free through many schools and universities. If you are a student or educator, and your institution is eligible, all you need is a valid school email address.
This is a truly free version of Microsoft 365, and you should enjoy this benefit for as long as possible. In addition to your familiar MS apps, it comes with tools to encourage collaboration in the classroom, like Access, Sway, Teams, SharePoint, Stream, and Flow.
However, Microsoft will verify you are still an active educator or student. Once your Microsoft 365 Education plan expires, applications will become view-only after 30 days. After 60, you will lose access. To keep working, you will need to subscribe to Microsoft 365, or back up your files and use Office Online.
If you used to be a student, see if your school address will work. If not, access the alumni discount they offer for Microsoft 365 Personal.
2. Get the free trial of Microsoft 365
This is the easiest free option for accessing Microsoft 365. But it only lasts for a month. After that, youâll have to begin a subscription or use one of the other methods here.
Remember to turn off recurring billing in your Account Settings unless you want to start paying.
Unlike the online version, when Microsoft 365 is installed locally you have full document editing capabilities offline. You can share the free Microsoft 365 trial version with up to five other people. Each person gets 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage, plus the ability to sync and share files across Windows, Apple, and Android devices.
This is a great option, but only for the short-term. You only get a single free trial per email and credit card, so unless you try to bend the terms of the license agreement, itâs a one-shot deal. Or is it?
3. Convince your company to get Microsoft 365
If your need for Microsoft 365 is strictly for work. And you constantly find yourself in need of full-versions of Word or Excel, you probably have a strong case to make to your employer.
Office Online is great, considering itâs free, but the lack of function or offline capability can be extremely frustrating. If these things are getting in the way and costing you time, itâs likely costing the company more money a subscription would.
This isnât always going to workâbut I told you we were looking at every option to get Microsoft 365 free of charge.
4. Free Microsoft 365 (with purchase of a PC)
Hereâs an option that is not going to be right for everyone, but if you are in the market for a new computer, this could be an answer. Some PCs come with one year of Microsoft 365. This sometimes includes ultra-affordable laptops, and you still save $99 annually on an Microsoft 365 subscription.
One thing to make sure of is that you are getting what you want. Some computers will only come with Microsoft 365 Personal, and others may not even have an OS installed.
What about Office Online and Mobile?
Now you know how to get a free download of Microsoft 365, but I should mention two easy, free-forever Office options just in case they do the trick.
Get Office Online
Office Online is entirely cloud-based and works on most browsers. As long as you have the internet, you have access to familiar MS Office tools like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Sway, OneNote, Outlook, Calendar, OneDrive, Forms, People, and Skype. Simply create an account and log in from anywhere to collaborate with anyone.
While Office Online doesnât take up any space, the downside is that you need the internet in order to use the programs and your documents. If you can rely on wifi wherever you need it, this limitation isnât so bad. Plus, you can always sync your computer with OneDrive so that files are automatically stored for offline access.
The features are greatly limited compared to Microsoft 365, but for personal use, itâs probably okay as long as you plan ahead. The extra logistics required to coordinate larger teams using Office Online, however, probably donât end up saving much money.
Get the Office mobile app
The Office mobile app works on Android and iOS on your phone or tablet. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are combined into a single app that syncs with all of your devices that use Office.
You can download additional apps, which take up some space, but all of your documents are stored in the cloud. Youâll be able to create and sign PDFs, and edit documents, tables, and slidesâbut be aware that the editing features are limited without the Microsoft 365 subscription.
Similar to Office Online, the mobile app is okay for personal needs but quickly reveals itself wanting at the enterprise level.
Final note: If you have to pay⊠itâs really not that bad! In the end, Microsoft 365 is an extremely valuable set of programs. Getting it for $99/year is pretty amazing. and now there is a special offer for one year, one user, 5 devices on www.keyingo.com , and it is only $25 USD, if you can't access these free edition, don't miss this opportunity

A Few Reasons People Love Windows 10
How many times has your laptop crashed with work in progress? You certainly do not want to lose what you were working on especially when it has to be submitted before the deadline. To avoid this scenario from happening, you need to make sure that you have backed up your important files and saved them to another storage device (such as your USB flash drive or external hard drive). However, backing up your data can be quite challenging if you do not know where and how to store your files in the first place. Luckily, windows 10 keys provide you accessto some easy-to-use tools that will let you back up your important files right away!
Improved Performance
Microsoft made a huge effort to make Windows faster, and it shows. Boot times are up to twice as fast, file copying is much quicker, and everyday tasks like switching between apps is more responsive than ever. This might be thanks to Microsoftâs Fluent Design system, which puts animations on top of everything in Windows so that everything feels smooth. And then thereâs Cortana, who pops up with information about how long it will take you to get home when you type it into your Start menu. Now sheâll also search through your contentâlike photos and documentsâto help you find what you need. It's a subtle but impressive improvement in speed.
Personalization
With your windows 10 key, there is an option to personalize your user account with a picture. If you choose to do so, you can log into your computer and see that background image each time. Additionally, if you sign into another account on your computer (whether it be an administrator or standard), that personâs account picture will also appear in these spots. It is important to note that you can personalize more than just those two default places on a computer; for example, if you have multiple user accounts and use folders within other accounts as well, then clicking on that folder would bring up your home screen so long as you are signed in under one of those other user accounts.
Cortana
This is Microsoftâs version of Siri, in that itâs a voice-controlled personal assistant. However, Cortana also has personality and can suggest things for you to do or see. For example, you could ask Cortana to help you plan a vacation or tell her to remind you to bring an umbrella tomorrow. Another cool trick: Ask Cortana whatâs playing at your local movie theater and sheâll pull up showtimes on your computer (or tell her not just what movie is showing but when). If she doesn't know, she'll prompt you to look online via Bing.
Office Mobile
With your windows 10 license, youâll get access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNoteâand it works on your PC, tablet and phone. Not only does that mean you have easy access to your most important documents on any device, but it also means that if someone needs to make changes to a document while youâre away from your desk (or computer), they can open it right up in Word.
Xbox App
If you have an Xbox 360, youâll be right at home with its integration in Windows 10. With it, you can stream games from your console to any computer connected to your network (in addition to any Xbox One devices). And if you donât yet own an Xbox One, Microsoft will give away free copies of Halo 5: Guardians, Forza 6 and Sunset Overdrive for a limited time when upgrading. In addition to streaming games, you can also use it as a media player for your movies and TV shows in 1080p high definition. Itâs all part of Microsoftâs push toward converging gaming between consoles and computers.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ Review
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ is the most capable Android productivity tablet on the market. In addition to being the first to support 5G connectivity, it's also a performance powerhouse that can handle multitasking with ease. Though its starting price of $849âwhich doesn't include 5G capability or the carrier subscription to use it, nor the Book Cover Keyboard Caseâlooks steep, it's one of the few viable laptop alternatives on the market, especially if you often commute or travel and don't want to bother with a hotspot. With impressive features, incredible performance, and all-day battery life, it's the  best Android tablet  you can buy right now, and wins our Editors' Choice award.
A Beautiful, Stylus-Compatible Display
Aesthetically, little separates the Galaxy Tab S7+ from other hight end slates like the iPad Pro. The chassis and back of the Galaxy Tab S7+ are constructed of aluminum and available in black, silver, or bronze. It measures 11.25 by 7.3 by 0.2 inches (HWD) and weighs 1.3 pounds without the optional Book Cover Keyboard Case. That may sound heavy, but the weight is well-distributed, making it easy to hold for long periods. A slim camera stack and a magnetic connector for the S Pen are on the upper left corner. A word of warning: the connector for the S Pen is not as well placed or as powerful as what you'll find on the iPad Pro, making it easy to lose.
The front is dominated by a 12.4-inch, 2,800-by-1,752-pixel Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz variable refresh rate. Color accuracy is spot-on, with vivid colors and inky, deep blacks. The screen is bright enough to use in direct sunlight without any problems.
Top-Notch Hardware and a Marathon Battery
A Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ chipset powers the Tab S7+. Samsung offers the tablet in 128GB/6GB, 256GB/8GB, and 512GB/8GB storage/RAM configurations. Our review unit is the 256GB/8GB version. All three support up to an additional 1TB of external storage with a microSD card. Â
As expected, the Tab S7+ can chew through just about any task you throw its way. We tested it with over a dozen apps and three dozen Chrome windows open and it didn't even flinch.
The powerful Snapdragon 865 chipset on the tablet, combined with its 120Hz display makes gaming an immersive and seamless experience. We tested the tablet with Asphalt 9: Legends and PUBG Mobile and didn't encounter a single hiccup. Load times are lightning fast, and the 120Hz display means you'll never see any lag or dropped frames.
Benchmarks underscored our experience. On Geekbench 5, a suite of tests that quantify raw computing power, the Tab S7+ earned 994 single-core (SC) and 3,814 multi-core (MC) scores. That is, by far, the best score we've seen for an Android tablet sold in the US, but still falls behind the iPad Pro's 1,113 (SC) and 3,277 (MC) scores on the same tests.
Samsung packed a 10,090mAh battery in the Tab S7+ (much bigger than the Tab S7's 8,000mAh battery), which can easily carry you through through the workday with a little battery life to spare. In our battery test, which streams HD video over Wi-FI at full brightness, the Tab S7+ held on for 7 hours and 21 minutes before powering down. That's about the same as the iPad Pro (7 hours, 48 minutes), and with more conservative use you should easily be able to make it a full day between charges.
45W fast charging is with an optional power adapter. If you choose to stick with the 15W adapter that comes in the box, be prepared to let it charge overnight.
A Selfie Camera Made for Video Calls
A 13MP primary lens with an f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP ultra-wide lens with an f/2.2 aperture comprise the Tab S7+'s rear camera module. There's an 8MP sensor on the front of the tablet with an f/2.0 aperture.
With good light, the dual camera stack performs well. The 13MP lens takes an excellent shot with good depth of field and solid color accuracy. The ultra-wide lens performs nearly as well, though we did note some minor loss of fine detail.
In low light, the rear cameras do an adequate job. Our low-light test shots had some edge noise along with lens flares, but they were still good by tablet standards. That said, we doubt many people will use the tablet to grab unplanned photos when most flagship phones perform better and are easier to whip out over the dinner table.
The 8MP selfie camera is perfect for video calls no matter the time of day. It also takes a good selfie, though some of our low-light test shots appeared a little flat, with minor noise around the edges.
Immersive Audio
Samsung sells the Tab S7 in 5G and Wi-Fi versions. The base model ships with Wi-Fi 6 support. The 5G model works with every US carrier and has supports sub-6GHz and mmWave connectivity, though you'll need to pay for monthly service. We tested the Tab S7+ on a gigabit Wi-Fi network and recorded excellent results, with averages of 631.4Mbps down and 38.8Mbps up.
The four AKG-tuned speakers on the Tab S7+ are among the best we've heard on a tablet. With a maximum volume of 96dB,audio is loud enough for conference calls, and it actually sounds good when you're watching videos. There's also Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity for wireless audio with the Galaxy Buds Live or your favorite Bluetooth headphones.
S Pen Feels Great
Unlike Apple's pricey $129 Pencil, Samsung includes its S Pen in the box with the Tab S7+ Put simply, the S Pen is incredible. It comes in the box and charges wirelessly when connected to the back of the Galaxy Tab S7+.
Writing with the S Pen actually feels good. We didn't notice any lag when using the stylus, and latency has been reduced to 9ms from 26ms on the Tab S6 Lite. The tip of the S Pen is significantly thinner than the iPad Pro's Pencil, and offers a little bit of drag to make writing on the display feel more natural.
Air Actions, Samsung's set of S Pen gestureâinitiated shortcuts first announced on the Galaxy Note 9, makes its big screen debut on the Tab S7+. Air Actions lets you use the S Pen to snap selfies, swipe through pages without touching the screen, and set up other custom shortcuts. If you're new to Air Actions, there's a bit of a learning curve, but it's pretty convenient once you get the hang of it.
A Pricey and Flimsy Keyboard
The optional Book Cover Keyboard Case ($229.99)is hit-or-miss. The actual keyboard has excellent travel and a satisfying tactile feedback. The trackpad is swift and gestures work without a hitch. The cover turns into a stand, with good range of motion, and has a magnetic compartment for storing the S Pen.
So what's not to like about the case? For starters, it's nearly impossible to use in your lap. The stand is made to rest against a solid surface. Even if you manage to find a comfortable spot for it on your lap, there's a lot of flex in the keyboard. And frankly, the Book Cover Keyboard Case looks cheap. From a distance you might mistake the case for leather, but up close it unquestionably looks and feels like low-grade vinyl. Anyone who's investing in a high-end tablet like the Tab S7+ will likely want a cover that gives the same impression of quality manufacture and design. The Book Cover Keyboard Case does not.
One UI Can't Save Android
The Galaxy Tab S7 Pro ships with Android 10 and the latest version of Samsung One UI. In the past, we've had mixed feelings about One UI, but Samsung has made some major changes that make it much more attractive. The latest iteration now supports live syncing between Samsung devices and PCs; Apple users are unfortunately out of luck.
Samsung's productivity apps have also gotten a significant facelift. Samsung Notes now offers easy PDF annotations with the S Pen. A handy feature that allows you to sync voice recordings with your written notes is relatively easy to use. There's also the option to sync your notes with Microsoft Outlook and OneNote, but you can easily download Microsoft 365 to the S7+ and skip syncing altogether.
Folder and file structure have been significantly improved, so it's easier to find documents if you prefer to store them directly on your tablet. There's also the option to sync your documents with Microsoft OneDrive.
One UI also improves multi-tasking on the Tab S7+. You can now have three windows open simultaneously. Multi-Active Window, a persistent tab that rests on the side of the screen, now supports app groups, so you can create quick shortcuts to open your three most-used apps simultaneously. Â
Over the past year, Samsung has made some massive improvements to DeX (desktop-mimicking) mode. It's more intuitive than older versions, supports multi-touch gestures, and even connects wirelessly to compatible televisions and monitors. We wouldn't go so far as to say it can replace your desktop, but it's an excellent alternative for basic tasks.
To be honest, Samsung's One UI corrects many of the ills that hamstring Android tablets, but at the end of the day, you're still running Android apps. That means there are limited options, especially for those in creative fields, and some apps just aren't up to snuff. If you're not a fan of the iPad Pro, there are plenty of Windows 2-in-1 laptops that run full fledged versions of Adobe Creative Cloud and similar apps.
There's also the issue of updates. Samsung has committed to updating its new products "for three generations," but that's a rather ambiguous claim and it doesn't set a specific timeline for updates. Android manufacturers, for the most part, have been slow with OS upgrades, and we doubt the Tab S7+ will be an exception. Though Samsung is already upgrading some of its devices, it doesn't look like the Tab S7+ will get an Android 11 upgrade until 2021.
The Best Alternative to an iPad Pro
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ is the most capable Android productivity tablet on the market. In addition to being the first to support 5G connectivity, it's also a performance powerhouse that can handle multitasking with ease. The S Pen is a pleasure to use, and the Samsung One UI actually feels like it adds to the overall experience.
What keeps the Tab S7+ from meeting its full potential is its OS. No matter how many tweaks Samsung makes to One UI, it still runs on Android and simply doesn't offer the same seamless experience you'll find on the iPad Pro. And although the optional Book Cover Keyboard Case works well on a desk, its steep price and lackluster build quality are a disappointment.
Despite these nitpicks, we still think the Tab S7+ is an extremely impressive piece of hardware. Once you're able to travel again, you'll find it by far the best Android tablet for taking work on the road and having a laptop-like experience supplemented by an outstanding stylus. It's an Editors' Choice through and through.

The Best Student Discounts You Donât Want to Miss Out On
New Post has been published on https://financeqia.com/awesome/the-best-student-discounts-you-dont-want-to-miss-out-on/
The Best Student Discounts You Donât Want to Miss Out On
Although college is expensive, it does come with some perks. One of the best things about being a student is all of the discounts that come with the title! Many companies offer discounts to students, some of which you may already be aware of, but some you may not; theyâre not all advertised. VARIABLE APR Variable rate options consist of a range from 3.48% per year to 6.30% per year for a 5-year term, 4.85% per year to 6.35% per year for a 7-year term, 4.90% per year to 6.40% per year for a 10-year term, 5.15% per year to 6.65% per year for a 15-year term, or 5.40% per year to 6.90% per year for a 20-year term, with no origination fees. Please note: Due to federal regulations, Citizens Bank is required to provide every potential borrower with disclosure information before they apply for a private student loan. The borrower will be presented with an Application Disclosure and an Approval Disclosure within the application process before they accept the terms and conditions of their loan. Federal Loan vs. Private Loan Benefits: Some federal student loans include unique benefits that the borrower may not receive with a private student loan, some of which we do not offer with the Education Refinance Loan. Borrowers should carefully review their current benefits, especially if they work in public service, are in the military, are currently on or considering income based repayment options or are concerned about a steady source of future income and would want to lower their payments at some time in the future. When the borrower refinances, they waive any current and potential future benefits of their federal loans and replace those with the benefits of the Education Refinance Loan. For more information about federal student loan benefits and federal loan consolidation, visit http://studentaid.ed.gov/. We also have several resources available to help the borrower make a decision at http://www.citizensbank.com/EdRefinance, including Should I Refinance My Student Loans? and our FAQs. Should I Refinance My Student Loans? includes a comparison of federal and private student loan benefits that we encourage the borrower to review. Citizens Bank Education Refinance Loan Eligibility: Eligible applicants may not be currently enrolled. Resident aliens must apply with a co-signer who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Borrowers who use deferment or forbearance will need to make 36 consecutive on-time payments after reentering repayment to qualify for release.
To capitalize on these deals, you should be sure to always carry your student ID card with you, even when youâre not on campus or youâre away on summer break. Take advantage of having a student ID while you can; many student discounts are no longer available when your ID expires or when you turn 25 years old. Remember, it never hurts to ask if thereâs a discountâthe money youâll save adds up quickly!
Amazon: All you need is an active .edu email address, and you can get six months of Amazon Prime for free. After your trial ends, you can get a Prime Student subscription for $49 annually, which is less than half the normal price. With free two-day shipping for almost anything you might need, plus Kindle eBooks and Prime Video, itâs hard to come up with a reason not to sign up! Apple: Both current and newly accepted students can get discounts on new Apple devices like Macs and iPads to help with their studies! Additionally, students can get an Apple Music subscription for half-price ($4.99/month). FedEx: If you need to mail something, FedEx might have the best deals around. Students receive 30% off the shipping cost of documents and envelopes, and 20% off the cost of packages. You must show your student ID in person to receive this discount. ID.me: This site offers specialized discounts and deals to students who registerâitâs free. The offers vary, but include discounts on clothing, travel, and technology. Retailers include Sperry, Nike, Ford, and Microsoft, but there are tons of others offering up to 15% off your purchase and cash back. Microsoft: A student email address will get you free access to Office 365, which includes programs like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. Additionally, students get a 10% discount on Windows devices, which could come in handy as youâre prepping for the next school year. The New York Times: For $1 per week, students can get access to unlimited articles on NYTimes.com. For $1.50, students can also get access to the crossword puzzles. The best part is, the rate stays the same for as long as youâre a student! Spotify and Hulu: These streaming services are offering a bundled deal to students, who can get both Spotify Premium and Hulu Limited Commercials for $4.99/month. A Spotify Premium subscription is typically $9.99/month, and Hulu starts at $7.99/month, making this an awesome deal. StudentUniverse: Specializing in discounted hotels, flights, and tours for students between the ages of 18 and 25 years old, StudentUniverse has all of your travel needs covered. You must create a free account to access the discounted rates. Occasionally, promo codes offer greater discounts than the already discounted fares (for example, NEWFOR20 will get you an extra $20 off your first international flight). This is a great resource for summer trips, study abroad, and travel between home and campus. UNiDAYS: Like ID.me, UNiDAYS verifies your student status and gives you access to discounts and coupon codes available only to students. Categories including fashion, beauty, travel, food, and technology. You must create an account to access the offers. Car Insurance: Whether you pay for your own insurance or youâre on your parentsâ plan, most insurance companies offer discounts for students, provided you maintain good grades. Print out your transcripts or show your most recent report card to your agent to determine your eligibility. Cell Phone Plans: T-Mobile offers discounted devices to students. AT&T offers monthly service discounts and discounted international plans to qualified faculty and students. Other mobile carriers may also offer discounts too; youâll have to ask! Movie Theaters: Most large theater chains (AMC, Cinemark, Regal) offer discounted tickets for students. Youâll need to show your student ID to receive the cheap tickets. Museums: The list of museums that offer free or discounted admission to students is very long and spans the country (if not the world). Check with any youâre planning to visit, and always travel with your student ID just in case. Restaurants: Many restaurants, especially casual chains like Chick-fil-A, Qdoba, and Burger King, offer student discounts. It never hurts to ask! Retail Stores: Similarly, many stores offer special discounts for students, including Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts, J.Crew, Kate Spade, and more!
It never hurts to ask whether an event youâre attending or business youâre shopping at offers discounts for students. The worst anyone can say is âno,â but as long as you ask, thereâs the possibility that youâll be rewarded with discounts. Your school may be another source for discounted tickets to local sporting events, shows, and more.

Interest rates on variable rate loans are capped at either 8.95% or 9.95% depending on term of loan. See APR examples and terms. If approved for a loan, the fixed or variable interest rate offered will depend on your creditworthiness, and the term of the loan and other factors, and will be within the ranges of rates listed above. The benefit will discontinue and be lost for periods in which you do not pay by automatic deduction from a savings or checking account. *To check the rates and terms you qualify for, SoFi conducts a soft credit inquiry. Unlike hard credit inquiries, soft credit inquiries (or soft credit pulls) do not impact your credit score. Soft credit inquiries allow SoFi to show you what rates and terms SoFi can offer you up front. After seeing your rates, if you choose a product and continue your application, we will request your full credit report from one or more consumer reporting agencies, which is considered a hard credit inquiry. Hard credit inquiries (or hard credit pulls) are required for SoFi to be able to issue you a loan. In addition to requiring your explicit permission, these credit pulls may impact your credit score. SoFi rate ranges are current as of March 20, 2019 and are subject to change without notice.

The variable interest rates and Annual Percentage Rate (APR) will increase or decrease when the 1-month LIBOR index changes. The variable interest rates are calculated by adding a margin ranging from 0.98% to 3.80% for the 5-year term loan, 2.35% to 3.85% for the 7-year term loan, 2.40% to 3.90% for the 10-year term loan, 2.65% to 4.15% for the 15-year term loan, and 2.90% to 4.40% for the 20-year term loan, respectively, to the 1-month LIBOR index published on the 25th day of each month immediately preceding each âChange Date,â as defined above, rounded to two decimal places, with no origination fees. If the 25th day of the month is not a business day or is a US federal holiday, the reference date will be the most recent date preceding the 25th day of the month that is a business day. The monthly payment for a sample $10,000 loan at a range of 3.48% per year to 6.30% per year for a 5-year term would be from $181.83 to $194.73. The monthly payment for a sample $10,000 loan at a range of 4.85% per year to 6.35% per year for a 7-year term would be from $140.64 to $147.77. The monthly payment for a sample $10,000 loan at a range of 4.90% per year to 6.40% per year for a 10-year term would be from $105.58 to $113.04. The monthly payment for a sample $10,000 loan at a range of 5.15% per year to 6.65% per year for a 15-year term would be from $79.86 to $87.94. The monthly payment for a sample $10,000 loan at a range of 5.40% per year to 6.90% per year for a 20-year term would be from $68.23 to $76.93.
However, if the borrower chooses to make monthly payments automatically by electronic funds transfer (EFT) from a bank account, the variable rate will decrease by 0.25%, and will increase back up to the regular variable interest rate described in the preceding paragraph if the borrower stops making (or we stop accepting) monthly payments automatically by EFT from the designated borrowerâs bank account.

If approved for a loan, the fixed or variable interest rate offered will depend on your creditworthiness, and the term of the loan and other factors, and will be within the ranges of rates listed above. For the SoFi variable rate loan, the 1-month LIBOR index will adjust monthly and the loan payment will be re-amortized and may change monthly. APRs for variable rate loans may increase after origination if the LIBOR index increases. See eligibility details.

This Tech Tool Can Save Teachers 10 Minutes Per Class
While the fate of humanity did not rest on her pulling it off, Australian English teacher Sarah Gunn faced a daunting task. Her high school literature students at St. Laurenceâs College in Brisbane had just 50 minutes to write up a formative assessment on the representation of robots and artificial intelligence in the movies. For that to happen, she had to play five-minute clips from both "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Wall-E" in quick successionâtwice.
I couldnât waste time flipping between videos. I really needed a quick process.
In the past, such an assignment would have required Gunn to stream the clips through a projector and the schoolâs wifiâan arduous process that often left her battling lag time, poor video quality and balky sound that sometimes forced her to clamber onto a table to fiddle with speakers. With the class in the middle of an exam, âI couldnât waste time flipping between videos,â says Gunn, who is also the schoolâs director of teacher performance and development. âI really needed a quick process.â
To the rescue: the video-streaming and screen-mirroring technology St. Laurence had recently installed. Using wireless presentation tools by Vivi, an education-focused company founded in Australia, Gunn was able to mirror her tablet screen on the classroom screen and play YouTube clips directly through a hardwired receiver without slowing down the schoolâs wifiâor her studentsâ work. âVivi has been really reliable, so Iâm happier and the students are much less frustrated because Iâm not having to send someone down to the IT department for help,â says Gunn.
Wireless screen-mirroring, which allows the projection and sharing of device screens without cables, frees teachers from worrying about what became of the HDMI cord and which dongle goes with which tablet. It also eliminates the need for them to be glued to the front of the roomâand the imperative to stand and deliver. And it saves time, lots of time.
Here are six ways the technology can maximize classroom time and boost student and teacher productivity:
1. Fewer uploads and emails
Gunnâs school has a one-to-one device policy; when she projects her screen to model her writing process, for example, students can connect their own devices to use the platformâs annotate tool to take a screenshot and add their own notes. Because Vivi works with any device or platform, Gunnâs students are free to use their Apple laptops, Chrome tablets or Android smartphones. âPreviously, if I was doing annotations on my screen and then if I wanted to share that work with students, I would have to either upload it to a OneNote or email that document to students,â she says.
Sarah Gunn at St. Laurenceâs College in Brisbane, Australia.
2. Quick and seamless connections
Gunn estimates that she saves 10 minutes out of every 50-minute lesson.
Gunn saves even more time by being able to set up her classroom technology within about 20 seconds of walking into her classroom. In the past, sheâd spend several minutes of at the start of every class connecting to her computer, waiting for the projector to warm up, synching it to her laptop and then trying to project videos or PowerPoint filesâan operation that often caused the projector to disconnect. Gunn estimates that by avoiding those hassles and little things like having to send emails of annotated documents, she saves 10 minutes out of every 50-minute lesson.
That benefits her students directly: She gets through her content more quickly, so her students are into the skill development stage of their learning faster. That will enhance their achievement down the road, says Gunn, âand it means Iâm freed up to conference with students, or to run master classes with my extension students. Having that extra time has been really beneficial.â

3. Greater efficiency and more flexibility
Amanda Pfeffer, a science and chemistry teacher for grades seven through twelve at the Shore School in Sydney, has found that using screen-mirroring in conjunction with a new laptop has changed the way she teachesâin part because she can move away from PowerPoint. âChemical formulas, with subscripts and superscripts, are incredibly difficult to type,â says Pfeffer, whose school is trying out Vivi in select classrooms. âItâs really helpful to be able to handwrite things on OneNote, project them on the screen, and then for the students to be able to go back and re-access themâthrough a read-only file or screen captureâlater on in their own time.â
Using screen-mirroring, Pfeffer is able to model how her students should construct formulas and reactions; she can also share her annotations and modifications much faster than she could before. âThat way a secondary explanation of a concept can happen instantly as opposed to the next day,â she says. âThat gives us time down the track to work on additional examples, or extend the studentsâ understanding in a different way, or talk about it from a different perspective.â
Amanda Pfefferâs classroom notes projected for her students using Vivi.
4. Multitasking made easy
Amanda Pfeffer and Sarah Gunn's favorite classroom resources:
Vivi
OneNote
pHet Simulations
Stile
SchoolBox
ClickView
Kahoot
CommonLit
TedEd
Like most teachers, Natalie Harris, a primary teacher at St. Francis de Sales School near Sydney, could really use a clone. A multitasking screen could be the next best thing: In the past, Harris might have needed to prepare her math lesson but couldnât because the children were using her screen. With Viviâs pause screen feature, which allows teachers to mirror their screens and still work privately, she says she can âput the lesson up, go back to my computer and do things without the children getting disrupted.â
Pfeffer has also found the platformâs video features to be useful, if not perfect. Because Vivi works closely with educators on product development, those functions are improving. âI often start and stop a video part way through in order to replay or pause and take notes, and I asked for a better tool that I could use to scroll back and forth through video,â says Pfeffer. âThey listened to that feedback and are improving that capability.â

5. Quicker and more collaborative feedback
Harrisâs students all have iPads, so after they complete writing tasks, she has them film themselves reading their own writing. Then she can easily project each studentâs filmed story onto the classroom screen to share with the rest of the class. âThatâs when we can give feedback and say, âThat was good,â or âYou needed to put a full stop in here,ââ Harris says. In the past, students couldnât give each other feedback because they werenât looking in each otherâs writing notebooks. âBut now weâre bringing our books to life and showing them up on the screens and making them interactive where the kids are able to point out mistakes and quickly edit them.â
In the past, students couldnât give each other feedback because they werenât looking in each otherâs writing notebooks. But now weâre bringing our books to life.
Gunn says one of her favorite aspects of device-agnostic screen-mirroring is the ease of presenting student work no matter what device the student has. âIf I have a model group who is doing something really well and I want to demonstrate that, I just ask one of the students within that group to flip their document up on the screen and have them talk through their processes with the class,â says Gunn. âStudents are able to connect in and showcase their own work, which is leading to more autonomy and student-driven learning.â Significantly, she adds, âweâre also seeing fewer behavior issues because they arenât waiting for things to get connected or fixed.â
6. School-wide broadcasting
Fortunately, St. Laurence hasnât had to use Viviâs Emergency Broadcast feature yet. But they have taken advantage of the Digital Signage feature. Last month, the school used the system to broadcast a reading in honor of Australiaâs Remembrance Day, followed by a moment of silence. âNone of the teachers needed to do anything,â says Gunn. âPreviously the school would have had to send out a PowerPoint to all the homeroom teachers and ask them to all make sure they do that with their homeroom. Instead it was just a school-wide, consistent thing that happened at the same time. Every learner had the same experience.â
And every teacher won a little extra time.

"MS Teams for edcuation classes in schools" by Tim Hobson originally published November 14th 2018 in Microsoft Teams topics
Some of our teachers are wanting to use ePortfolios in lessons like in Art to replace sketch books and i've been looking at OneNote / Teams / OneDrive and Google Classroom. Unfortunately it would seem that Google Classroom is way ahead of the game when it comes to this kinda thing. Maybe i'm missing something in MS's offering but it seems like Teams isn't completed as a full package.
I've been doing a bit of a walkthrough on both systems and teams. Here are my notes:
 MS Teams Walkthrough:
Looking at Teams, I've been doing a complete walk through of this and things don't look good for Teams either - maybe i'm missing something but it seems VERY clunky and not well thought out. I've got 4 users -Test Staff which is the teacher of the class and 3 test students (2015, 2016, 2017). Teststaff opens MS teams and creates a new team - selects Classes and gives it a class code / description. Teststaff proceeds to add the 3 students to the class. An email is sent to all 3 users as a notification to say they have been added to the class - perfect so far. This is where it starts to fall down. Teststaff clicks on assignments and creates a new assignment or a quiz. Teststaff assigns this to all students of the class and gives it a name. In this case it's called Module 1 - teststaff assigns the assignment. A toast notification pops up in the bottom right of the teststaff's screen but no email notification is pushed out to the 3 students, therefore students don't know about this assignment unless the teacher tells them. All 3 students create a piece of work on their OneDrives and hand-in their work. No notifications to Teststaff that work has been handed in. The only way Teststaff knows if any work has been handed in is via Assignments > Click on the relevant assignment > Review. Only then will Teststaff see who has handed in their work. As mentioned, there are no notifications to either students / staff about this process. I would have expected at least a notification to the teacher to say that x student has handed in their work or even an email to the student to say You've handed in x piece of work. Once the work has been handed in, Teststaff reviews the work to see who / what has been handed in. Teststaff is able to give feedback and return the work back to the student however there is no notification to students to show this. No where does it show work has been handed back to students. (Only in the feeds does it show this). Feedbacks not logged correctly either to show progression. There is no way to see past history of feedback that has been given to users. Student is unable to provide a comment or feedback to the teacher on what has been changed. Teacher not notified work has been handed back by the student.
 Google Classroom Walkthrough:
Unfortunately Google Classroom seems the better product here as a side by side comparison. It seems to work in the same kinda way however it's liter than MS Teams, smoother and quicker.
Teacher logs into Classroom > Creates a class and gives it a name / section / subject / room. Once the class is created teacher browses to People or Classwork. Teacher can add students based on typing in their email address. An email is sent to the student asking them to join the class. Clicking join enrolls them into the class. If however a student opens up classroom > classes and sees there is a class to join they are able to decline it which is a bit of a pain :/
If a teacher assigns an assignment to the class an email notification is sent to all students of the class to say a new assignment has been create. Students are able to open the assignment from their emails.
Teachers are able to disable chat within the class - this is done Stream > Cog > Disable class comments. Essentially this is chat within the class.
All work is edited and saved in Google Drive.
Students are able to Turn-in (hand in) work from Google Docs, attachments or a link so O365 documents *could* be used here but the majority would just use Google Drive. There is an issue though when a student hands in work for the first time. The teacher does not get a notification to say when this process happens. It would be better if an email was delivered to the teacher each time a student handed a piece of work in.
There is a feature called private comments, this enables a private and logged conversation between teacher and student. Notifications from student to teacher are sent to teacher mailbox and vice versa.Â
Teachers are able to either edit the document or suggest changes and a comment log is logged if a teacher wants to explain why the suggestion has been made.Â
My concern here is that staff members could change and alter the document and submit it as a student's piece of work. Even when returning the document to the student the teacher is still able to go in and edit the document.Â
An email is sent to the student informing them that a document has been returned.Â
Google Drive shows who and when the document was last edited.
If a student re-submits a document, the teacher is informed of the re-submit to their email address.Â
Is anyone else in the same boat? Am i missing the point with Teams / OneNote?
Thanks
