Hi! So I was scrolling through your blog (I always start the day checking Tumblr 😅) and I found out about the Gwayne thing not making sense in the series (which I totally agree to btw). But I think I may have found a kind of valid answer (more or less)

As the Anon pointed, Otto is a second son (that's why he is not called Defender or Lord of Oldtown, the title belongs to his brother) so a child of his would not be suitable as a husband for the future Queen

However, that doesn't answer the question of why he didn't get a role in court. Well, the fact is that he did in the books he did. He arrived at court with his mother and siblings as soon as Otto became hand and later was a knight and Second in command of the City Watch, which is quite a high position for someone that young (just a year older than Nyra I think)

His age could also be the reason he wasn't trained to be the next king's advisor. And for the part of why he isn't a sworn protector I believe is due the fact that only White Cloaks are allowed to reach that position. If Gwayne had been one of them that could also stop his father from making more alliances through marriage with his son (all that celibacy oath Criston is always pestering about)

So yeah that's all the explanation I could come up with 😅 Sorry if it was an endless ramble, I tried my best to explain it but idk if it makes sense

And that makes perfect sense! I think I get a bit confused with 'who could marry Rhaenyra the Heir' because when she did her marriage tour - she saw so many unfit matches. None of those men/boys would be suited for her.

Laenor is really the most obvious choice but obviously there was no children from them ("allegedly").

But that leads me to why wasn't she allowed to marry Harwin? I'm talking about before she was married to Laenor ... surely he would have caught her eye by the fact he LITERALLY RAN INTO A CHAOTIC UNRULY CROWD, THREW HER OVER HIS SHOULDER AND SAVED HER. Whew, I miss him.

His father was the Hand of the King and he was set to inherit Harrenhall (I'm pretty sure).

I think this paragraph has a lot to do with why Henry Tilney and Catherine Morland work:

Henry is a second son, and not only that, his brother is HOT. Smoking hot, and from what we hear of him later, pretty charming, though not funny charming. Catherine takes one look at him, is like, “Well, other people might think he’s handsome,” and then focuses on Henry.

How often has this happened in Henry’s life? Is the usual way of things that a girl dances with him, finds out who he is and tries to trade up for his brother, Isabella-esq? I can see that happening to a second son, a mere clergyman A LOT. But the thought doesn’t even enter Catherine’s head, she’s all about Henry. She’s loyal, she’s disinterested, she’s not a mercenary. How gratifying it must be to be her first and only choice!

Is it any wonder that he falls in love with her? I say no.

I’ve been thinking about writing an Infamous Second Son Fanfic with myself as a character.

However I have no idea if this is a good idea?. Am I going to get hate for this?

Delsin Rowe - D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, couldn't find anyone young enough to protray Delsin, cause there aren't enough Indigenous Actors. I like up and coming actors rather than known, it gives more options and more talent to emerge, But I really like D'Pharaoh.

Reggie Rowe - Martin Sensmeier, Chaske Spencer, or Kiowa Gordon. I'd really say Martin, because his skin tone matches D'Pharaoh. Probably simple minded to think that, lol. (I'm black btw. 1% Indigenous lol). Though I really like Chasake, he got the older brother who's just tired of younger brother vibe. And Kiowa was really good in Dark Winds. (I recommend you to watch, it's a good show).

Betty - Tantoo Cardinal (The only older woman I could find to play Betty...But also because Tantoo is a really great actress).

Brooke Augustine - Sigourney Weaver Or if Male, Anthony Starr. Sigourney is an obvious choice to play strong evil villain lady, but imagine it being Anthony Starr. He creeps me out on The Boys so much, but like...he's also...yeah. But he plays such an evil asshole, that I think he would do good as Augustine. Bruce Augustine...lol.

Henry Daughtry - Oliver Jackson-Cohen. I liked him in The Haunting of Hill House and the other trilogy whatevers lol. If he can pull out a Texan or Southern accent out his ass, he'd be pretty neat. (I'm Southern also btw).

Fetch (Abigail Waller) - Odessa A'zion, honestly couldn't find anyone I liked.

Eugene Sims - Evan Peters, Devon Bosick. I know Evan is tired of playing evil twisted roles. But he made a really good superhero in X-Men. He also gives Introvert nerd that hacks into databases. So does Devon Bosick, I started back reading The 100 fanfictions, and he'd make a good choice.

Shane -Boyd Hollbrook, Anthony Starr, like I said before. Evil. Villainy. He's amazing at it. Also Boyd played a good bad guy on Logan...I love his acting and his face..

Your sasusaku one-shots that feature some variation of arranged marriage are my favorite SS fics in the fandom. Second Son and Tribute are fics that I have read probably over 50 times. Wanted to thank you again for writing them!

I have favorite fics that I've read a ridiculous amount of times, but 50+ is impressive af and I think you've got me beat there! The fact that you've reread my stories this much is amazing, and it makes me want to sing--but lucky for everyone around me irl, I won't do that.

So I lied. I ended up procrastinating on my work today and wrote chapter 14 (wc: 5.2k). Soooo....it will be up tomorrow :)))

And it's going to be a very different chapter since we're introduced to three new characters. But we do get some more Blaise scenes + Luna being an amazing friend + Theodore being knowledge-hungry + Contessa Zabini being the epitome of elegance haha.
