#365DaysOfVGM Day 204:
MAIN THEME (Space Harrier; including the “Sega Superstars Tennis” version, the “Sega Mark III” version, and the SPACE HARRIER ARRANGE VERSION ~ MAIN THEME version [Galaxy Force ~G.S.M. SEGA 1~], among others [1985/2008/1986/1988])
An almost 40-year old classic, one that yelled the optimistic “outer space future” feel of 80s music in the east, even into the 90s!
It’s quite difficult to find a better way to express such an era in video game form, with so many different versions that I had a hard time narrowing it down to just 4 selections for today’s listing. “GET READY!”, cuz all of these are fairly long for its time!
(Length before loop [Original]: Nearly 3 minutes, [Sega Superstars Tennis]: 2.5+ minutes, [Sega Mark III]: Nearly 3.5 minutes, [ARRANGE]: Nearly 5 minutes)

oh and you can air juggle fools like its Tekken 7, oh so fun! Its such a good fighting style, I used this loads in the main game because I loved setting up a juggle combo, then switching to other styles for a flashy finish. You also get a fourth fighting style - which basically gives you all the moves you learn in the boxing mini game, to use in street fights. The mini game itself is already excellent, so more, tough fighters is a welcome inclusion. These are tougher than the normal fights, so its nice to have these to tackle. The first is fights against Suguira, Higashi and Kaito in the boxing gym. getting into a Back to the Future II vibe with the hoverboard (which itself has great stats), and the new skatepark has some interesting layouts which makes it more entertaining to shoot for high scores compared to the base skatepark.īoxing content: Saving the best for last, boxing adds two pieces of content which in my opinion validates the season pass purchase. Hoverboard + new skatepark for the skateboarding mini game - this is more like it. But I cant really say I played the extra course more than a couple of times. the bike probably has excellent stats so that's a plus. If you like 8bit games, these are well worth getting in my opinion, I've spent (and will continue to spend) hours playing these to completion, especially Darius II which has several different routes.Įxtra bike and location for the bike gang mini game. but basically four really good MKIII action games, and I'd argue these are better than a few of the games that were included in the base game. Definitely can recommend the DLC for these.Ĥ extra Sega MKIII console games to play at your office: Darius II, Fantasy Zone II, STI and.

there's some genuinely good side stories (especially relating to the mascot lady), plus the fact these open up as you play the game more, means its worth getting the DLC as your starting the game so that you arent rushing to complete them at the end of the game. Usually one to introduce them, and another three as you get to know the characters. there's 3 DLC girlfriends, each with several side stories attached to them. Girlfriend side stories: Ok, now we are getting to actual interesting content. Lots of special extracts/items that I just never touched, felt they'd break the game. Its cute to have on your shelf though at least. Little cat ornament that earns you money as you walk: Again, not all that useful since its so easy to earn money in this game. Never used them as its really not hard enough to require. New drone skins: If you dont want to put any effort into the drone racing mini game, just use one of these skins to make it trivial. I assume both for when your walking Rampo and when you do the dog EX moves. I've put an unhealthy amount into LJ, here's a breakdown of what's included in the season pass (sorry, cant really differentiate what's with what pack):Īlternate dog colours: Different appearance for the dog.

Could this week (maybe even today?!) be the when SEGA finally delivers the full details of SEGA Forever? As we reported previously, details on SEGA Forever were leaked a few weeks ago, when an eagle-eyed SEGA Nerd out there noticed something unusual about the Philippines version of Comix Zone on the iOS app store. It appeared that SEGA was planning on introducing a new mobile subscription service that could possibly contain classic SEGA titles – similar to Netflix (and other video services, but for games).
Then, last Tuesday (13th June) SEGA officially teased SEGA Forever to the press, with an awesome cassette full of retro SEGA tunes and a note that indicated our previous (above) thoughts are correct. We originally thought that SEGA would announce SEGA Forever officially at E3 last week, but that didn’t happen.
However, since Tuesday’s cassette tease, the SEGA Forever social account have been posting out an image a day, showcasing a classic SEGA console. The first day was just a tease of SEGA, but since then we’ve seen very artful photos of the SG-1000, Master System, Mega Drive/Genesis, Saturn and finally, yesterday (Sunday), we saw a photo of the Dreamcast.
Well, as you all should know, those are the main home systems that SEGA released (although they are missing my beloved Game Gear). So what could be next?
I’m thinking/hoping that SEGA will be revealing their new service, if not today, then in the next few days – as the company appears to be building up to it through these social posts. Could the next image could be of a smartphone showing the SEGA Forever logo?
Of course, SEGA could end up trolling us and start posting images of all the variations of their consoles (i.e. Mega Drive/Genesis MKII/MKIII) with attachments (i.e. Mega CD and 32X) and any genre-defining arcade games they’ve release over the years (i.e. Virtua Fighter, Virtua Cop etc.) … But I’m hoping they’re not going to do that.
We’ll just have to wait and see where SEGA takes us…
One final note, bar the first post, all images showing consoles have been posted to the SEGA Forever accounts just after 4pm GMT/11am EST – so that would be the ideal time to keep an eye on their social accounts!
You can find SEGA Forever’s Twitter account here, and its Facebook account here. There is also a Reddit page, but it is currently locked down and private.
Is a @SEGAForever announcement coming this week? #SEGA's teases suggest so #SEGAForever Could this week (maybe even today?!) be the when SEGA finally delivers the full details of SEGA Forever?
