Sexypink’s first impression of the work - FOREST NOTEBOOK Part One creates an interpretation of Mario Lewis’s experience in his forest location.

The scent of the planks of wood that divides the room into several intimate spaces mock the trees of that other place and the irony is not lost on the transposition of those elements into the gallery space. It is as though Mr Lewis’s line drawings are all his version of breadcrumbs finding his path as we the viewer also come to terms with the meaning of his personal hieroglyphics. His limited color palette of yellow, blue and pink wash relate to the sun overhead, our fragile world and beyond our galaxy.

There is a meditative slant to his investigations and I do believe that Mr Lewis may not be creating his exhibition to have us formulate an opinion. We can make of it what we will.

Grappling with the issues we all face about the health of our planet, Mr Lewis creates a performance that we the viewer become immersed in and are all left to contemplate our part in this ongoing genocide of ourselves.
