The Case of the Ghostly Greenhouse is mentioned in episode 6, and the boys talk about the omphalotus nidiformis or ghost fungus, and its effects (extreme pain, blindness).

It's not surprising to infer that Charles found a way to get that thing in his eyes before, but I need to know how exactly it happened and what was Edwin reaction to see Charles suffering like that.

Update: I found a fanfic. It's really good (it's gonna make you smile and cry at the same time, that kind of good).
