For the Cambridge tour of Pakistan, what type of day dresses/outfits along with evening gowns would you like to see on Kate?
Oooh, what an awesome question! I would love to see Kate bring back some of my favourite looks; I loved this look from their visit to Bhutan:
Tumblr media
So maybe a similar look, possibly featuring these Zara jeans (I love the detailing):
Tumblr media
For dressier daywear, I’d love to see Kate bring this dress back:
Tumblr media
Or something like this from LK Bennett (I think she suits bold blues):
Tumblr media
For eveningwear, it would be amazing to see Catherine wearing something by a Pakistani designer like Shamaeel Ansari, though obviously being wary of cultural appropriation:

After 10 years of recurring success, the pioneering Fashion Pakistan Council commenced the first day of Fashion Pakistan Week 2017, Winter/Festive with pomp and grandeur on Tuesday, September 12th at the Grand Marquees in Karachi. The three-day event expected to be filled with glitz and glam, and a line-up of about 18 prominent designers showcased their latest formal, semi-formal and bridal collections hence marking the trends of the season. There is much to look forward to at this year’s Fashion Pakistan Week.

Following the grand opening of #FPW17, hosted by Shamaeel Ansari’s Blue Tulip event, the previous night, Day 1 began with a striking and awe-inspiring collection showcased by Misha Lakhani, proceeded by exquisite collections of five more designers; Aamna Aqeel, Erum Khan, Obaid Sheikh, Saira Rizwan and Suffuse by Sana Yasir. The make-up maestro Nabila from N-Pro and N-Gents, styled the models with her signature aplomb.
Before the designers showcased their fabulous collections, they were found mingling with celebrities and other key media at the LUX Lounge that looked absolutely majestic with the exquisite floral setting that created a lovely atmosphere for all the attendees. The stunning art and décor for the LUX lounge was done by Anisa and Amina Rasheed Khan of RAKA.
“Each year, Fashion Pakistan Week stuns the audience and that’s because we have great designers, sponsors and partners on board with us, that help make it a great success. The extravagant collections displayed on the ramps are a representation of the uniquely inspired designers,” said Feri Rawanian, the CEO of Fashion Pakistan Council.
The evening was all about glamour and style as Karachi turned out to applaud the six opening night designers. The red carpet was buzzing with celebs, media, stars and fashionistas clicking up a storm.
About the designers and their collections:
Show Opener: Misha Lakhani
Misha Lakhani’s couture and ready-to-wear range consisted of finely embroidered ensembles that stunned the audience. The collection was mainly inspired by Persian, Central Asian and Indian designs, created using hand-woven silks and intricate needle craft embroidery. Using subtle floral work and a combination of colours varying from bold maroons to delicate whites, her collection did not fail to impress.
Aamna Aqeel – Palace Wonderland
Aamna Aqeel’s 17-piece bridal and trousseau collection was an opulent and majestic capsule inspired by imperial courts of the sub-continent; eye-catching garden-scapes and exquisite flora and fern which were rendered into artisanal works of magnificence. The goddess-like collection comprised of modern cuts and flowy designs had a perfect mix of golds and whites. This was followed by bold colorism inclusive of strong maroons paired with gorgeous emerald, creating perfect bridal ensembles.
Erum Khan – Bridal Odyssey
Interestingly, Erum Khan’s collection didn’t tell just a single story, but a collection of tales that have been traveling since the age of traditional dresses. Each piece created by her was a permutation of new age fashion with a hint of ritual. The colours of the dresses were selected very judiciously, where maroon and pink played a role in establishing the aura of royalty and fashion forward aqua and grey, propel it firmly into modern day fashion.
Obaid Sheikh – Husan Ara
Obaid Sheikh, through his collection depicted a woman’s strength and beauty. Conveying the message that every woman is beautiful, he used strong, yet elegant ethnic work alongside Marodi and Raisha techniques that completed each ensemble exquisitely. He also presented a menswear collection, with the aim to represent the perfect and timeless pieces for gentlemen.
Saira Rizwan – Glitterati
‘Glitterati’ was a manifestation of splendour and elegance. Her collection had voguish designs and striking ornamentation on rich fabrics with deep hues such as velvet, brocade and tissue, signifying the glitz and glam that the wedding season entails. The collection, comprising of formals and bridals in shades of starry night with tilla embroidery and exquisite 3D embellishments was nothing short of a treat with all the razzle dazzle. Varying from subtle oranges to olive greens the collection entailed contemporary cuts highlighting some modern trends for the season.
Suffuse by Sana Yasir
Sana Yasir closed the show with an extravagant collection full of silver tassels and sparkles. Suffuse’s spectacular range of silver formal wear, was created using bespoke tailoring, presenting an ode to the modern women. Suffuse by Sana Yasir collaborated with the renowned Jaipur and Co. for jewellery. Her striking collection, paired with intricately designed jewellery, presented one of the best ensembles on the ramp on day 1.
The night would not have been as seamless, without the help of Fashion Pakistan Week’s numerous partners. Catwalk Productions led by the event expert, Frieha Altaf was the official event planner. For the media partner, Fashion Pakistan Council joined ties with ARY Digital Network to get a nation-wide coverage of greater magnitude. Sunsilk and Fair & Lovely were backstage partners throughout the event. Moreover, Aquafina participated as the red carpet partner, TDAP as the official hospitality partner, The Deli as official food partner, FM89 the official radio partner and Emirates as the official airline partner.
Fashion Pakistan Week 2017, Winter Festive Day 1 After 10 years of recurring success, the pioneering Fashion Pakistan Council commenced the first day of Fashion Pakistan Week 2017, Winter/Festive with pomp and grandeur on Tuesday, September 12th at the Grand Marquees in Karachi.

Shamaeel Ansari’s creations are an art one wishes to witness, almost like a fashion revelation, each exhibition put up by the designer revolves around a historic story. Shamaeel’s design process depicts in depth research conducted in places she has personally visited. Her education and passion is visible in intricate details embroidered on the clothes which are inspired by the vintage glamour of gold encrusting of the royal Kaftans from the Topkapi Sarayi. The vibrancy of Caucasian needlework is distinctive and unique to her collections which bring on the ramp flavours of Turkey; sublime as the soul of the dervishes, sensual as the spice bazaars and regal as the ottoman court. The collection speaks intensely of fabric preparation using modern technology yet has antique colour-ways that provide the market unique variety in craft yet fashion which is eternally wearable. #FPW17 #WinterFestive #Shamaeel , #pakistanshowbiz #pakistancelebs #lovely #cute #harpalgeo #urdu1tv #ary #aplus #expressentertaniment #humtv #Lollywood #lollywoodlife #samysays #pakistanicelebrities #lollywoodcelebrities #pakistanifashion #pakistanidrama #life #2017
