Okay but I want that Unit spin off so bad. Give me 4 badass ladies solving mysteries and protecting the world. Donna comes in for a coffee in the morning with a story about their Doctor being a dumbass at doing dishes the other night. David is barely in the show except for whenever there's a good Bit™. They all help Rose with her homework sometimes. Red Head duo. Occasional companion guest stars. Shirley being a badass Scientist. More Kate Stewart content.
It’s neat that the TARDIS is canonically wheelchair-accessible now but like… could we actually have someone in a wheelchair go in the TARDIS instead of just saying “we could if we wanted to!”?
Today's disabled character of the day is Shirley Anne Bingham from Doctor Who, who has spina bifida and uses a wheelchair
[Image Description: Photo of Ruth Madeley portraying Shirley. She is standing up while leaning on a gray desk to transition from her black cushion chair to her black metal wheelchair. She is wearing black pants, grey suit top, black undershirt, and a small chain necklace. She has long blond hair in a bun and brown eyes. She has a light skin tone.]
I still can’t believe that they had a whole thing about the TARDIS being wheelchair accessible but then didn’t let Shirley go into it (though hopefully this means she’ll be back at some point).
Like surely the logical conclusion to that scene would have been Shirley at least being able to have a quick look inside?
