Hey there! It's been a while, but I'm the same anon that asked for advice redesigning the Aerialbots (still haven't gotten around to that...)! But I'm here to ask for some more advice, if that's okay...

I wanted to make a fanfic including Sunstreaker, but there's barely any canon content (specifically animated, which I watch the most) on him... any advice on writing him? You're the Sunny expert, after all... 💛

Hello Aerialbot Anon, nice to have you back hehe. I don't know about being the Sunny expert, all this just started with the brain-rot from @shyspider fanfics and fell into Lambo hell… But! I'm happy you sent in an ask and will do my best to help!

I've been thinking hard about how to answer your ask. Since I'm an artist, I spent a lot of time designing how he looked and worked his personality into his finished design. Writers don't have the luxury of just adding visual cues though, so I scratched around in my head and made up a quick list of the main points I kept in mind that might help you figure out what kind of Sunstreaker you want.

When he manages to show up in canon, he's usually a narcissist and very difficult to get along with, so I made him very confident in his looks and very good at his job while being dismissive of people who don't outright impress him.

I wanted him to have more than one dimension, so I decided that he bases most of his worth around his appearance and competence. He's a little jaded and belittles those around him because he doesn't want attachments that can hurt him later. (Also, I made him sarcastic and difficult to get along with in contrast with Sideswipe as the "friendly" twin.)

He's used to, and dislikes, superficial relationships. Sunny is always getting surface-level compliments and so he's numb to them and actively avoids them. That scene in Guardians of the Galaxy where Drax said "beautiful people never know who to trust"? That's Sunny.

Looking at this list, my Sunstreaker is essentially a beautiful but aggressive shelter cat.

Of course, all of this is just for my interpretation of Sunstreaker. Yours might be a bright-eyed sparkling or a pretty-boy assassin, or a battle-hardened old coot with loads of scars. Who knows? With so little canon content for the mech, he's almost a blank slate, which can be a little daunting to work with.

If you can find a fanfiction with Sunny that you like, or even a similar character to get ideas from, that'll help too... I hope I went into enough detail and that this can help you out?

Will twin tails be updated for mermay?

It will. I just finished working outside to try and beat the incoming stormy weather. Now I'm indoors and will be adding the finishing touches to the final chapter.

So we got Sunstreaker in a human body, but what would the reactions from everyone be if Eve all of a sudden became cybertronian??

Hi Hi Hello! Sorry for the late reply.

First off, they would probably panic and do their best to comfort her because she would be FREAKING out (as I think anyone would). I imagine they would probably have to teach her how to cope with certain things because I would like to think cybertronian brains process things WAY differently than human brains.

But in total, I guess it would depend on the circumstance. If it was unwanted, or a freak accident like what happened to Sunstreaker, everyone would band together to get her back to a human body as soon as possible. If it was intended, then everyone would work together to incorporate her into cybertronian society, to teach her their ways, maybe even plan a road trip across the stars. Sunstreaker would still be overbearing in her upkeep and detailing, and the later would be most welcomed than the former. Sideswipe would be the one to show her how to transform, and probably the first to make a move in either instance... Either way, both storylines would have that kind of chapter 😏

I know that this is kind of late, but how do you think Sunstreaker and Sideswipe would feel about Valentine's Day? ❤️💝

Like they see that Eva might be a bit upset about something and they want to cheer her up, and then they find out that an Earth holiday called Valentine's Day is near.

For some reason, I can just imagine a miscommunication about the traditions and the twins think that they need to give Eva an actual human heart. That would be both hilarious and horrifying. 😅

I love questions like these because it feels like those cheesy cartoon specials that kind of just set the main plot of the story aside just to have a holiday-centric episode. Like, the big evil bad guy is trying to take over the world - but there's only seven days still Critmas and all the trees are sold out! Shenanigans ensues, and we all move on and learn an important lesson we'll never speak of again.

ANYWAYS! Your question.

I hc that the twins go about it on their own in different ways.

💛Sunstreaker:

- He would know of Valentine's day, only because of those 'earth' memories. He wouldn't jump on it unless you showed interest or expressed a bit of nostalgia. - And he would go over the top, if only to be the best damn date you've ever had. He wants to be number one, even if its for some silly earth custom. Forget everyone before him. - Paper hearts? Cheap candy? No, there's going to be writing in the sky and artisan treats. If he can show off, he will. And if he can't show off, he will. -The only issue is, he'll expect you to reciprocate. He worked hard to impress you, now you got to do it back. Wine and dine him just as hard. Better hope you can get a loan.

❤️Sideswipe:

- Now HE'S the one that would be like, "Wait, you give those fleshy blood-pumps to your romantic interests? Like... the hearts of your enemies? COOL!" - After explaining and possibly saving someone's life, he would kind of just smile and nod and be disappointed for a bit. But then he would make the custom his own and throw his own spin on things. - Instead of giving you anything heart shaped, he would give you things that were sparked shaped. He would find candies that looked like energon so it would look like you two were eating the same thing. - His dates would be more of what he knows you like, but he's not opposed to suggestions or trying new things. Sideswipe is easy, casual, and low maintenance... so long as you knew how that date was going to end.

What would Eva be like in the shattered glass universe?

*Rubs hands together* Ohh! OOH! I LOVE these kinds of questions.

I wrote from the perspective of a scientist who worked with concrete facts and never really deferred to a spiritual explanation. You use science to explain how you anchor in the Cybertronian energy of life. You shun the idea of being a Herald of Primus.

Since Shattered Glass is all about opposites, Eva would be the Harbinger of Death. Instead of giving life, You would take it; and you would do so because you embrace the idea of being blessed by some cosmic entity. Instead of being an anchor for sparks, you are the one that unmoors the line and sets them adrift.

You are a weapon, and you revel it.

Questions like this makes me wish I was an artist. I have a vague image of them in my head when I write, and I always love it when I see an artists own rendition of them. Mostly I imagine a mermaid, but more of those creature type mermaids that will eat you instead of kiss you 🦈

So I'll just give you my notes that I reference when describing them...

General: Human-like torso, tail starting at hips (like generic mer-creature). Generic fin placement: dorsal (back), pelvic (hips), caudal (tail). Hands/5 fingers - webbed, claws. Visible scale overlay. Lighter coloration on underside.

Domesticated/tamed/captivity: Smaller stature, chubbier. Shorter tails, smaller fins, shorter limbs. Duller colors, less unique patterns, stubbier claws.

Wild/free/oceanborn: Lean muscles, sleek, fit & healthy. Bigger space, bigger mers <3. More patterns, more individuality, differences unique. Sharper claws, fangs, the works - perfect predators.

Sunstreaker: Golden (of course). Flowy-er fins (beta fish reference) and better maintained. Iconic larger finned crests over 'ears'. Blue eyes. Sleeker. Faster.

Sideswipe: Red. Flowy fins like Sunny but less maintained, so a little shorter and frayed at the edges (irritates Sun). 'Horn-like' protrusions/bumps on head (like original TF frame). Blue eyes. More muscled/bulk. Stronger.

Hey it’s Jackie (jack o lantern) the koi’s mom/owner, I’m back it’s been awhile around finals week or work project weeks sometimes I’ll delete my blog to erase distractions or if i need to take a mental break idk if I’ve explained this before to you anyway I’m back for a little bit.

I hope you’re doing okay! 😄 also if you need a mental health break take your time no pressure. also sorry for the long ask and all the pictures but I wanted to share my rescue frogs progress pictures because seeing someone’s health get better makes me feel better 😅 but there is Congo she was super skinny you could see her little hip bones when I first got her and now not only is she a healthy weight but is a beggar who likes to follow me around and stare at me. (Right now her and Ubangi the other frog are frog jail in a fish breeder box because they’d hide all the time and miss meals when I first got them so this made sure I could ensure they ate.)

And I'm okay. I'm going to finish up these two fics and go on hiatus. I just need to take some time, enjoy summer, work with my hands, and just chill for a while. Then get back to writing regularly. It's been a while since I had a break since posting. But I really do appreciate the fish and frog pictures. I can't tell you how badly I want a pond, but I'd only be feeding the wildlife my poor fishies. Also, yeah, you told me that you'd delete your blog and then come back. It's your way to help you focus. So, there was this app that I used - its for PC and mobile - called StayFocusd. I used it a couple of times when I had to really buckle down and keep to a deadline. It can either completely block the website, or limit your time on it like a schedule. I just thought I'd throw that out there - but if your way is working for you, keep at it.
