I just remembered that a warrior named Shyfrost is supposed to make an appearance in this arc. I wonder if the new POV in the next book will be them joining a Clan. I can’t imagine that Shyfrost is a Clanborn cat, since none of the kits are named Shykit. Maybe one of Wrenflight and Gravelnose’s kits will be named Shykit?

Also perhaps Shyfrost and Rufus will be cats encountered while someone (probably Tawnypelt) is searching for a new holy site for the clans?

But I never considered them being a GravelWren kit, that would be very interesting, particularly if the clans do move and they’re the first born after that.

Catiestem - Warrior

Childish, formidable fighter

Catiestem had wandered the wilderness for as long as she could remember before she found Marineclan. She'd decided to join because she was fairly lonely, and wanted to contribute her skills to a greater cause. She didn't take herself as seriously as all of the noble warriors around her, but she could still beat most of them in a fight.

One of the cats who most helped her settle into her new home was Quilldrift, a shecat just a bit older than her who tended to various duties around camp. Quilldrift always had a kind word and a generous chuckle for one of her jokes, and Catiestem quickly developed feelings for her.

Her romantic aspirations were cut short when one of her new clanmates informed her that Quilldrift preferred not to take a mate. Dejected but not wanting to upset the status quo, Catiestem put her feelings behind her to focus on other pursuits.

Once Catiestem retired, she reunited with Quilldrift in the elders' den. There she finally got a better opportunity to speak with her old crush, and the two of them became very close over the next year. They'd joke around and tell stories, and they never seemed to get tired of each other. Eventually, in the heat of a runaway sparring session, Catiestem confessed that she'd be able to protect Quilldrift a lot better if they were mates. After a beat of silence, Quilldrift's surprised expression melted into a happy one. She agreed, and the two were officially united as mates.

Catiestem became pregnant soon after this, and gave birth to two kits, Shykit and Almondkit. It was incredible to see mini versions of herself and Quilldrift crawling around the nursury, and heartbreaking when they lost Almondkit to a snake bite when he was only 5 moons old. Quilldrift became pregnant again very quickly, and gave birth to another two kits, Pearlkit and Heatherkit. She did her best to look out for her growing family, but was killed by a badger right before Pearlkit and Heatherkit's apprentice ceremonies. In Starclan she is at least able to reunite with Almondkit.

Moon 45 - Fall

Flailpaw and Haypaw become warriors - Flailbubble and Hayspot.

Shrubpaw is apprenticed to Hayspot, Fleckpaw to Patherrise.

Peatwish has 2 kits (half-clan) Splashkit - Brown tabby tom with green eyes, insecure, careful listener. Aspenkit - White tom with a brown eye patch and pale green eyes, insecure, moss-ball hunter.

Fiercefern brings a litter of 3 kits to the clan. Garlickit - Brown tabby molly with cyan eyes, daring, moss-ball hunter Shykit - Brown tabby molly with pale yellow eyes, bullying, avid play-fighter Fallingkit - Orange tabby molly with bronze eyes, attention seeker, moss-ball hunter

Canopykit turns to Peatwish in a time of need and is let down, Peatwish feels bad for causing a problem for Canopykit. - The nursery is too crowded to Canopykit.

iPod and Fennelspeckle recover, but Weevilsun sprained an ankle.

Aspenswipe picks out the best piece of prey for Coppersight and confesses his feelings. Coppersight and Aspenswipe are now mates!

Riftpaw is boasting to Sloemallow, who is not impressed. Teaselpaw doesn't think Riftpaw has been honest lately.

Shrubpaw and Flaxpaw go fishing, but keep getting distracted by each other.

Moon 46

Copseshiver is expecting kits! Again!

Dogblossom and Squirreldapple recover.

Pantherrise's tail is injured by a falling tree.

Fleckpaw has whitecough and Splashkit has kittencough.

Fennelspeckle has noticed that Mottledleaf isn't doing much work, and Bluebriar thinks Mottledleaf is inconsiderate.

Gullpaw cheers iPod2 up after a disagreement.

Aspenkit asks Fallingkit about something complicated and is astonished at her insight. Shykit thinks Fallingkit is very helpful.

Aspenswipe caught a blackbird on the fly and Coppersight is impressed.

Riftpaw catches a strange rat, but it tastes wrong. She buries it, but falls ill later.

A kittypet asks to join. Mistlepelt - Gray and white molly with hazel eyes, 71 moons old, bold, renowned hunter, talented swimmer.

Moon 47

Daypaw, Riftpaw, and and Teaselpaw become warriors - Daydapple, Riftbeam, Teaselsky.

Splashkit died from kittencough.

iPod2 has greencough.

Mistlepelt is attacked by a rogue.

Back playin Clangen, rapidly approaching 100 moons. Honestly, much as I wanna make a Clangen Comic about my playthrough.... Plot is hard. Just as hard as actually drawing panels (with high ambition and low technical skill RIP). I know they wanna escape their captors, but chances are the originals will pass away before they get the chance... I think the immediate Next Gen understands the importance of escape too... but hooo... it will be sad to see the OGs go. We about to have our THIRD GEN though (woo VilTangle! VILCA GOT HER BOYFRAND PRAGNANT. Love 'any gender pregnancies' option) [is it third gen? Foggypath was found as a kit, perhaps she counts as second gen, so her kits are third gen, so VilTangle kits are fourth? HM. Exciting either way].

They gonna have such weird babies.

Vilca found kits the moon before, so in a way, she must've had kits on the mind. (Gotta design Shykit and Brownkit, decided they're already mixed mutation babies. WoodfangxHorticats-- fishyplants).

Fave Next Gen Cats: Vilca (arrived a young righteous medcat outsider with TONS of experience), Tangleheart (one of the few fleshed out Foggykits designs, playful clever kitsitter), Shinedeer & Branchdart (remain my faves of MeaDats kits, very close siblins), Beetleshell (who despite being a mediator who was scared to be a warrior, is daring and keeps getting hurt protecting people), Goldsting & Bloomskitter (peak 'we both have big egos but we still care about each other' siblings), Sandscreech (peak Sandydash heir), Lotuschaser (Grumpy Dawnkit,,,), Venusbright (who deserves a better design cause she transed her gender and I can't let a character with an emotional jOURNEY go without a decent design-- shes also dating one of MeaDats kits, ROMANCE, even if Marshtuft isnt one of my faves). And PERHAPS Chirpnight (found as a kit, has a strong starclan connection, chirp like a cricket).

Fumblesnows design is great but aha,, ha,,, no real emotional connection yet.

Here's a document I made to help my planning for each stage in a cat's life. Obviously real cats don't age like this, but I wanted it to be visually obvious when cats are apprentices/kits, so generally fresh apprentices are about half their adult size - except for particularly short cats. Fun fact, Budpelt, Volestar, and Shykit are all unusually short!

since shyfrost will be one of the characters in changing skies & we don’t have a shykit in the current timeline, i’m betting that there will be a timeskip between the end of this arc & the next one.

maybe it’ll only be a moon or two, maybe we’re talking a year or more. either way, i’d love shyfrost to be any one of the following:

1. a violet x tree kit from a second litter, making them full-blooded skyclan & therefore a central POV to the goings-on in this arc.

2. a night x sun kit who goes on to leave thunderclan to pursue a relationship in skyclan, thus being thrust into a time of great turmoil within skyclan + questioning whether leaving thunderclan for love was truly the right choice.

3. (my personal most probable) a fringe x spire kit. being half-skyclan yet growing up in shadowclan (if fringewhisker continues to stay there) & sharing a border with their mother’s home clan creates a sense of longing.

4. a descendant of ebonyclaw, harveymoon, curlypaw, or parsleyseed who leaves their life as a kittypet behind to join the skyclan of their parents’/grandparents’ stories. upon arriving, however, the culture shock coupled rising tensions within skyclan cause them to question everything.

i’m just throwing ideas to the wind; the erins are being very vague with the details!

i’ll say this though, i’m very certain that rufus is either a kit/descendant of the cats who left skyclan or he is a neighbor that’s grown up listening to whispers and stories of skyclan, and is determined to find the mystical lost clan.

I love all of these options, these all would be so good
