So, like many hobbyists, I've been a longtime GW Enjoyer because it's easy to find people to play games with. But, it'd be a shame to ignore so many cool miniatures and systems just because it's harder to get games in. So, the Shame Pile grows... ever so slightly (it's literally 9 character models, Howard Quartz included, a piece of scenery, and Volkhan's anvil)
Warlord's ABC Warriors game drew me in with its chunky, characterful sculpts and low model count. I love a skirmish game. Its compatibility with other games in their 2000 AD licensed range is also a huge plus, so you can play out crossover games with Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog (RIP), and I guess Slaíne too if you really want? I'm really only familiar with Judge Dredd, as tends to happen on this side of the ocean, but this has gotten me interested in exploring more of the 2000 AD strips.
Plus, Andy Chambers and Gav Thorpe designed the system, so as an Oldhammer fan, seeing all my favourite designers of the era popping up in Warlord design credits is delightful.

If you’re into books about love, friendship, duty vs. desire, family, magic, power, and control, then please please PLEASE read this series!

The "I Am The Law" starter set for the Judge Dredd miniatures game from Warlord Games! Painted them up this weekend, as I hope to con some friends into a game soon.
Having painted models just helps sell people on the hobby, imo, and this was a super low-effort method so I can hopefully demonstrate how easy it is to get into! Mostly speedpaints and a high-contrast slapchop.
I'm still not used to actual 28mm truescale, especially bare heads. Still used to the ambiguous, semi-heroic scale of modern GW.

Judge Dredd City Def squad armour/clothing: Basecoated with Vallejo black brush-on primer. Next step was to overbrush with Citadel Macragge Blue and slowly work into a lighter and lighter drybrush while progressively mixing in more and more Vallejo Ghost Grey. These drybrushes were also gradually confined to only the areas that would get the most light, assuming a light source directly overhead. Followed up with a wash of Drakenhof Nightshade from Citadel, which blended everything together and pulled those lighter greys back a bit. Overall, very happy with this look.

Today's painting projects. More Judge Dredd miniatures, this time from the I Am The Law starter set. 2 Street Judges and 2 of the Block Gangers. Still have 6 gangers to go.

The lighting in this room sucks for photos (and painting tbh), so we'll have to deal with my harsh camera flash.
This is my Citi-Def squad for the Judge Dredd miniatures game: Hal's Angels. Lead by "Average" Hal, who is precisely the average male Mega-City One citizen in every conceivable manner. Height, weight, income, everything.
These were pretty fun and I might expand on them in the future, given there's a broader line of Citi-Def minis in the Warlord catalogue. They'll also make good Street Sweepers for ABC Warriors.
