So, I've mentioned it a few times, but "Just a Guy" really made me mad, and I wanna go ahead and go into why. Warning: this post is gonna ramble a bit. There's some opinions, some plot analysis, some character analysis, and some ranting.
Now, first, I realize that Boom Sonic is the most egotistical version of Sonic we've had yet. But I just don't think he did anything wrong in calling Mike "just a guy." Sonic is better at hero-ing than your average Joe (or Mike), and he has every right to say so, especially if saying so means preventing someone from hurting themselves. Which is all Sonic was trying to do. And if the average Joe (or Mike) doesn't like being called "average," well, that's Joe's (or Mike's) problem, and Joe (or Mike) needs to just get over it. AND other people need to keep their noses out of it, as well.
And Sonic was absolutely right: he literally saves the village from Eggman every week (nice subtle meta joke there, btw), and not only does he rarely get any recognition or gratitude, but he often gets taken advantage of in Boom. It's making me wonder if maybe Boom Sonic's over-inflated ego might be the result of a lack of appreciation.
This, btw, is a huge difference between Boom and canon. Now, we know that in any universe, Sonic is highly conceited. But in canon, Sonic's conceit largely amounts to knowing how good he is, and being, perhaps, a little too vocal about it. But canon Sonic has no need to be recognized as a hero (Black Knight and Murder being two very good examples). Canon Sonic is "just a guy who loves adventure," he does what he does and doesn't care what others think of him.
Boom Sonic isn't like that (in fact, most AU Sonics aren't- I'll cover the others when I get the chance). Boom is very sedentary, very domestic. He's limited himself to this tiny island and its crazy townsfolk. He's not able to spread his wings (metaphorically, since hedgehogs usually don't have wings) and go all out. And since freedom is such a vital part of Sonic's character, I think the lack of it has created an emptiness inside him that he has attempted to fill by being more dependent on those around him. Dependence on others requires mutual respect and recognition. And nobody in the Boom-iverse does that.
And the worst thing about this whole episode is that no one actually learned anything in the end. Yes, I know, it's an animated sitcom, character arcs aren't a requirement. But the episode ends with Sonic making this whole big thing about, "Oh, Mike warned me about Eggman, he's such a hero." A simple "hey, thanks, Mike, lemme treat you to a burger," would have sufficed, but Sonic was so beaten down by all the hate towards him over the last few days that he felt like he had to bend over backwards to soothe everybody's ruffled fur and feathers. Quite frankly, Sonic was the only one who did nothing wrong, and he should have been the one receiving apologies, not dishing them out.

Yes, but...
Love - The hedgehog trio that is Sonic, Amy (and not silver) and Shadow
All three have high and lows (especially Sonic and Shadow) so I only take in account my favourite version of them (Maekawa's for Shadow, Adventure/Maekawa's for Sonic and Amy).
I like all those. I didn't except so many. From several media, Archie/SatAM, X, modern etc...
I also didn't except to include so many humans.
To be honest, I don't care too much about Rouge, Big and Cosmo. They don't bother me, but if they are there or not, is indifferent.
I don't like Sage overall. I put in there and not in 'kill with fire' because I think she might have potential once Eggman dies. but I would prefer her not around. Sonic cast is already inflated, the less they are, the better is.
Kill them with fire - A list of character I would have preferred to never see. Chris Thorndike is in first place, but also the rest have something that annoys me, or they are too bland, or they make the storylines uselessly convoluted (Black Doom).
Of those only Black Doom and Omega made me smile or gave me some positive emotion once but is not enough.
To tell how inflate is the cast, see how many I forgot. Most would end in the last three lines anyway, so...

Frontiers really wants us to believe the events here spark such immense self-actualization from the characters and I'm like "man this shit is so random" like apparently just helping the koco and seeing their memories just makes them go "I'm gonna develop" this game has such an inflated sense of self-worth, it believes itself to be the most deep thing since *insert deep work because I can't recall one from the top of my head*
Sonic Frontiers is at the same time a Sonic Generations that takes itself way too seriously, and a meta apology for the 2010s. "We're sorry for the bad writing, we'll do better now! We'll fix the bad characterization! Here, Adventure fan! Remember these arcs from that game you played in 1999? Since you liked them so much, we're going to do them again, because now we like the Adventure era! :D"
yeah yeah tails wants to stop being wildly inconsistent and become his own hero separated from sonic. anyway it's really cool that in SA1 you have to play Sonic's story as Tails for 80% of the time, which almost feels like a waste of time, but then the two get separated which forces Tails to self-reflect upon his status as Sonic's sidekick and then decide that he can't depend on Sonic forever, giving him a final level where for once he doesn't retrace Sonic's steps, but goes through the stage in his own unique way. that was really good. it helps that I played as him :)
#it's really hard for me to take frontiers at face value#i just keep seeing the meta context around it#the deliberate steering of the writing#it doesn't really feel like a sincere story

Whenever people complain about the long-overdue change from AAA games costing $60 to games costing $70 (which let's be real - they already did in some places back in the 2000's/2010s. Retailers with no nearby competition would sell wii games WAY above market value, all the time. Ask me how I know.) The common refrain is always that spending power is down (true.) and that most of the dev budget and profits aren't even GOING to the developers, the CEOs are just pocketing it (also true.) But it's also hard for me to care about those factors when the expectation for what a game should cost has been thrown out the window.
Sonic Adventure retailed at $60 in the U.S in 1998, which is about $115 in today's money, and it takes 9 hours to clear the whole story. Sonic Frontiers had a larger team, budget, development schedule, and despite the fact it has nearly double the amount of gameplay, it sold at almost half the price of Sonic Adventure. Adjusted for inflation.
When I was in middle school, it was understood that if a game was free, it was most likely made by someone on their free time, and therefore it would probably be short and simple. The mobile apps that were worth your time all cost 99 cents. This was a fee people were willing to pay, because a song on iTunes also cost 99 cents. Games with microtransactions were already taking advantage of gambling addictions, so people were willing to put up with a certain amount of adware on the free app market to avoid them.
Then everything went wrong at once. Free-to-Play video games were popping up all over the place with the amount of content you'd normally expect from the most ambitious AAA titles, and the content updates you'd expect to see from subscription-based MMOs to keep things fresh. Music could be streamed, so nobody wanted to spend 99 cents to own a copy of their favorite song anymore, and suddenly that fee looked too high for apps as well. Then Apple stopped pushing the paid apps, encouraging every developer to make apps that either monetized every corner with ads, or baited players into constant microtransactions so they'd be more than one-time sources of income. And despite being driven primarily by cynical profit motives, the leadership of most American AAA studios wanted to be compared to Hollywood. And so games are being pushed to look more like Movies. Photorealism. Cinematics. Stories that resemble the Movies. Stuff had to be more and more ambitious while costing less and less for the consumer on the frontend, sometimes in ACTUAL dollar amount and sometimes just adjusted for inflation, while also being designed to wring as much money out of every player as humanly possible. It's still going on like this and we all know it isn't fucking sustainable.
But sure. your DLC contains stuff you feel should have been in the base game now. The default price is $10 more - and once they've patched out as many of the issues they were forced to ship with as is realistically possible, you'll get what you paid for out of the experience.
You realize that if you get your reality where we have smaller games with worse graphics made by people paid more to work less, the price of heavily marketed, retail-worthy games will still probably go up, right? Because those likely won't go anywhere, even if they all start to look like what we think of as AA now rather than AAA. For a game to ACTUALLY cost $70 it'd need to maintain mass market appeal so it could sell enough copies to make back budget and probably fund the next dev cycle. Because in this world, game devs wouldn't be beholden to shareholder interests, right?
I'm not saying this to discourage you from that way of thinking in the slightest. I'm just pointing out that, as with SO many things in our lives, your sense of what something costs to produce is incredibly divorced from reality because of just HOW exploited the labor behind it is.
But to be completely honest, if an extra $10 on the base price of SOME PS5 games is enough of a stumbling block for you, I don't know how you'll handle the value for that money decreasing, as well.

Eggy definately has a Sonic bop bag to vent his frustrations, but he hopes one day to have the real deal one day to wail on😈
lol YES definitely, he has a bop bag with Sonic on it, a stress board with his picture on it, a plush of him to beat up when he's mad like the ones that were made for E Series target practice, and his Hedgehog Hammer Whack-A-Sonic game in Adventure
checklist of what Eggman brings out when he's fucking PISSED at Sonic in hopes of the slightest ounce of catharsis

(I just made that third image on a custom dart board site I love it lol)
but Eggman is so strong and so mad that he commonly splits the inflatable from punching so hard, explodes the stress ball from squeezing too hard, the dart board has so many holes the picture is barely visible, he tears the plushies apart very easily, and the Whack-A-Mole Sonics are completely smashed to pieces. one day he hopes to do all of the above to the real thing!

Sonic - English, Japanese version - my impression as somebody who doesn't speak any of the two languages.
First - my experience with the two languages, to explain how I perceived thing as a total foreigner.
English - I truly can't speak English. My written English sucks. I don't know if you can read/understand my posts. I can read English, both British and American (I usually use British English but I use American when I want to be more concise), overall I can read all kind of topics, but I don't like slangs. My listenings skills are bad, it depends who is speaking. I could listen and understand enough Sonic Prime without subtitles, but in other occasion the language is too different from Italian and I need the subs.
Japanese - Mostly I watch anime in Japanese. I don't speak the language at all and I can count all the japanese words I know in one hand. The sound of the language is sillabic so is as clear as Italian. As for Sonic, I watched Sonic X in Japanese version (Italian and English version long ago, I don't even remember a lot), the two adventure in English, Unleashed in both version, Frontiers in Italian and Japanese.
Sonic Force is boring, I was unable to pay attention. I saw it not long ago and I quickly forgot everything. The only good thing was Infinite's Italian voice, is very beautiful.
OK, my impression of the character from English version was not like it was describled there. I perceived it more how is perceived in the Japanese version. Many times I said our personal experience make us perceive a character in a certain way, maybe the language I speak is part of it. Italian is more contextual than English, or maybe is how character act (that does't change whathever language they speak), I don't know... I remember perceiving Sonic as a aloof, slightly grumpy but kind hearted and happy character before watching the Japanese version (that just confirmed that). Current Sonic - even in Japanese, is more outgoing and sullen.

Flanderization happened in the Japanese version too and is undeniable (I said i watched the Japanese versions too).
Indeed...
this remember a old cartoon I used to see in early '90s...

"Cecil, help me!"

Knuckles still does his duty, but I saw him more and more relaxed lately. Like: 'A bit of absence won't hurt!'. The describled flanderization sounds more like the one we saw in Sonic Boom.
Yes, this.
Sonic X is Japanese and she is clearly different from videogames (Right, I've said I watched the Japanese version). In the two adventure Amy was energetic yet gentle. I remember her kind attitude toward Gamma and Shadow. in Sonic X she made me laugh, but yes, she looks also dangerous. Sonic is right to avoid her.

Magical girl Amy. Well - Eggman deserve that.
This poor guy had it the worst. I remember Shadow being overall gloomy but still playful. Is like they just took away all the facets that made Shadow likeable and left only the flaws (inflating them to 'fill' emty spaces) . The Shadow we had during last decade (except for Lance Shadow) is the perfect edgy character that only 15 years old kids like. At 15 I also lingered on edgelords and I though they were the best because they were 'oh, pure serious' and didn't lingered in 'foolish cheerfulness'. I even characterized some of my own characters as edgelords (I'm glad I'm out from it since late teen). My mum made me understand why they suck, calling them 'arm candy' (belle statuine). That was a great and helpful criticism.
I loved funny and evil Eggman. I don't like what Eggman is lately, more than a villain, he seems a mignon.

Though Japanese dialogue might be better and more meaningful (when different from English ones), this doesn't mean Japanese version of Sonic is free of issues. We need to accept that Sonic franchise is flawed, that the fandom is not perfect. The good thing is that all the material we have around can satisfy all palates. Let's enjoy what we like and hope for the better, whathever will be.

The Environmental Benefits of Buying a Used Car in Honolulu

Driving a car in Honolulu doesn’t have to mean leaving a large environmental footprint. Choosing a pre-owned vehicle is not only budget-friendly but also a smart way to contribute to a healthier planet. At City Auto Sales Hawaii, we offer a wide range of pre-owned vehicles that help you go green while driving some of the best cars for sale in Honolulu.
Why Buying a Used Car is Good for the Environment
When you purchase a used car, you’re making a sustainable choice. The production of new vehicles requires significant resources, including raw materials like steel, aluminum, and lithium for batteries. By opting for a pre-owned vehicle, you reduce demand for these materials and help conserve energy.
Reducing Carbon Emissions
1. Less Manufacturing ImpactEvery new car requires a massive amount of energy to produce. By reusing vehicles already on the road, you avoid the carbon emissions associated with manufacturing.
2. Lower Transportation FootprintShipping new vehicles across oceans or long distances adds to global carbon emissions. Buying locally from a trusted used car dealer helps minimize that impact.
3. Fuel Efficiency ImprovementsModern used cars, like the 2018 Honda CR-V, come with advanced fuel-saving technologies. These features let you drive farther on less fuel, cutting emissions over time.
Extending the Life Cycle of Vehicles
When you buy pre-owned, you’re giving a car a second life. This reduces waste and prevents perfectly good vehicles from ending up in junkyards. Vehicles like the 2017 Volvo XC90 remain reliable and stylish, proving that older doesn’t mean outdated.
The Role of Hybrid and Electric Cars
Many used hybrids and electric vehicles offer an eco-friendly driving option without the premium price of buying new. Models like the 2018 Tesla Model 3 combine luxury with sustainability, making them popular choices for Honolulu drivers.
Choosing the Right Vehicle
When shopping for a used car, think about fuel efficiency, size, and your daily driving habits. Compact cars and hybrids are ideal for city driving, while SUVs provide more space for families or adventurers. If you need an eco-friendly used SUV for sale in Honolulu, we have options for every need.
