“No,” says Ratchet.

Soundwave’s head slowly tilts to one side. Ratchet was never as good at reading Soundwave’s nonverbal cues as Megatron and Optimus, but he’s pretty sure that’s either an invitation to elaborate or a physical challenge. Actually, knowing Soundwave, it’s most likely both.

“No,” repeats Ratchet. “I’ve already reserved this island. I even cleared all the details with Agent Fowler, specifically so that no one bothers me during my well-deserved vacation. You’re going to have to find your own island.”

«You’re going to have to find your own island,» is thrown right back in his face.

Ratchet scoffs. “Puh-lease. That may work on your Decepticon troops, but you’ll have to try harder than that if you want to intimidate me. I got here first. Get off my island and find your own.”

Soundwave stares at him, head still tilted consideringly, and then he starts trudging closer towards him. Each step he makes is swallowed up by the soft sand and makes little sound, but Ratchet still senses the deliberate weight he’s putting into every one of his pedesteps. He crosses his arms over his chestplates and glares up into Soundwave’s visor as the other bot comes to a stop right in front of him.

What are your thoughts of Soundchet(Soundwave x Ratchet if you did not knew) ship?

It did not even cross my mind until this ask! Thinking about it more, though, their dynamic piqued my interest, so I went digging a little...

It's a nice little rarepair! Their TFP dynamic seems the most appealing to me, so I'll talk about it!

Megatron, OP, Ratchet, and Soundwave were all present in the major Pre-War events, it might even be possible that they were all one big friend group (That'd be cute ^^ !) So the chances of them having some sort of history aren't impossible.

I see this going mainly 2 ways;

1. Ratchet is in love with OP and Soundwave is in love with Megs but both of their crushes are unattainable. (Op & Megs are together already?) Because of that, they seek comfort from each other in this sort of codependent situationship because they have no one else.

Since it's never that simple, they start getting jealous of each other's crushes because they're so used to needing each other and have grown "too close." A little angsty, but it's just the way I like it... >:)

2. A more fluffy scenario is that Soundwave just immediately pins over Ratchet the second he meets him. I headcanon Ratchet was a Kaonian medic in the pits, so it would be an adorable meet-cute for Soundwave to get sent to the medbay after a fight (Maybe after he loses to Megatronus?) and has Ratchet as the one taking care of him.

Fast-forwad until later, Soundwave finally meets this "Orion Pax" Megatronus has been talking about...only for Ratchet himself to also be there!! (Because he'd probably follow OP around everywhere like a lost puppy :P)

This would probably be mainly one-sided—but in a cute and comical way, not a depressing way!! "Go for it, Soundwave!"

They could also be one big love-conga line... As in Soundwave -> Ratchet -> OP -> Megatron -> Power and fame

Half joke, btw. I know Megatron's a fallen hero in TFP and all, but honestly I think he was always a little bit of a dick...

There are a bunch of other scenarios in my head (I love being a multishipper) but these are the most "compelling." Of course, you don't have to agree with me on any of this, but I hope my thoughts on this ship make sense—especially since I've only started thinking about it today! But honestly, it's wonderful, I feel like drawing them maybe some day...Thank you, Anon ^^🖤❤️

Soundwave/Ratchet go brrrrrr

Ratchet finding one of Soundwave's cassettes severely wounded after a battle, and being a steadfast believer that ALL mechs have a right to medical attention after the dust settles and the fight is over, sets to work on trying to save the symbiote's life.

Soundwave frantically searching for his downed cassette, who's location had last pinged near there... only to find the Autobot medic working on him. His first instinct is to shoot Ratchet dead and take his symbiote back, but given the damage his cassette had taken, it'd be a death sentence for it if he did that.

They come to a brief standstill before agreeing to put aside everything else for the  to save the injured cassette. Enemies coming together for the good of one small mech that most would have left for dead. Ratchet works quickly, surprisingly calm and effective despite the situation, confident that he can save the cassette, so by Primus he's going to give it his all. Soundwave, meanwhile, is filled with a deep sense of aprehension and dread at just how bad off his symbiote is, and absolute awe at Ratchet's conviction and determination.

They're enemies. Ratchet shouldn't be wasting Autobot resources on a Decepticon. But here he was giving the same care to Soundwave's cassette as he would any Autobot. And when the cassette is patched up and stabilized for transport as best as Ratchet can get it on a field repair, he deposits the cassette into Soundwave's arm with care that most mechs hadn't even bothered showing to the symbiotes before the war. Soundwave is stunned, relieved, and confused to the point that he can't even think of how to begin thanking Ratchet.

Thank him by giving him a damn kiss. Anon I am so here for this I love this
