Hi this is my HG Stark Jegan. It is very cool, best jegan variant (thats not pbandai :/). The only yellow plastic was the chest vents and I used gunpla markers on the rest (also the sensors), which I'm getting better at.
Underneath the extra parts it's mostly a jegan D-type, but the actual jegan D-type HG is pbandai for some unknown reason. It's also compatible with the ECOAS Jegan which is fun. As a side note the beam spray gun fits the GM custom's hand better than its actual rifle.
There are some other stark jegans with even more thrusters and/or missiles but those are pbandai so idk if I'll get them, and the MG version is too expensive for how much I like the design (and also pbandai >:( ).
RIP uknown pilot who squared off with a main character.

It's insane to me that Unicorn is almost 15 years old, it still looks amazing. (For reference it came out 2 years before SAO. Granted Unicorn had an OVA budget.)
Just everything from the animation to the choreography, the music, the sound design, the dialogue. Unicorn is easily my favorite Gundam series.

Wish the stark jegan wasn’t pbandai

Lego Jegan and Stark Jegan, from Gundam: Char's Counterattack and Gundam Unicorn, scaled for playing Mobile Frame Zero: Rapid Attack. Very pleased there's enough articulation at this scale to display the Stark Jegan with the source accurate underarm bazooka.

Not dead, just exhausted between school, job hunt, holidays, and helping with a friend's new baby! Aka hobby energy has been hard to come by. With all the projects stalled, I have started a new one. Too much build divers has convinced me to make a gunpla kitbash, which I've decided to make out of only grunt suits, no fancy Gundam bits. This stark jegan is gonna be the core, with the plan being to swap out the ams and legs for the gm custom's, and then incorporate the head and various other parts from the gm cannon ii.

I love the idea of a Stark Jegan ground type, but that also implies that the Man-Hunters would get access to it and I cannot even begin to imagine the amount of human rights violations they would do.

Kit look nice, it doesn’t have the worst joints. But geez I could tell this is an older kit. Some pieces didn’t fit properly and others are being held on by the force of will (I’m looking at you face vents). I did expect a lot worse though like it was something with as bad nub marks as the stark Jegan’s backpack with the sturdiness of the kampfer. But. It’s not that bad. And it has good shelf presence since the colors are uncommon for a gunpla

Case in point: this Stark Jegan pillot from the first episode of Gundam Unicorn.
"brain sync/neurologic link/kinetic controls make the mech a second body" is great and all but where's the love for the no brain link, no kinetic controls, no shortcut to skill type of mecha pilots. Where everything done entirely through a complex series of switches and levers and buttons.
Your only way of interfacing with the colossus of smoke and steel is to learn it's language, there is no advanced AI whispering secrets to the internal mechanics that interpret your motions, there is nothing to translate even a simple motion such as moving an arm and grasping firmly to your mind.
You and this machine could not be more different. The barrier is as immense as the ocean and you are a lost traveler without a compass or a map subject to these rough waters. If you want to converse with this divine machine, you must learn to navigate the abyss. Memorize every bullet, rocket, and blade contained within. Know every servo, every piston, every wire. Learn every limit, every threshold, every quirk, every gimmick.
Become so deeply familiar with every switch, dial, knob, and lever at your fingertips that it becomes a second body not through any magic link or miracle of science, but through practice, intimacy, and determination.

The Mecha Break Playtest is over so here are my mechs that I customized. I was mostly basing them off of my gunpla that sort of reminded me of them. (also some of my thoughts)

First was Narukami (my main <3) where I went with a gundam pharact color scheme. I think this was the best one I did.

For Alysnes I was going for a sort of GM Custom color scheme but I couldn't find a lighter seafoam color so this cyant had to do.

Panther was the first one I did and I tried to go for a titans color scheme.

Inferno has the cannons in each hand so I wanted to go for a Buster Gundam look, but there wasn't a good light brown like the MG version has. (Also its charged attack does a sort of Wing Zero thing where it puts its guns together)

I think for Hurricane I just changed one thing to blue but this is how it turned out.

My second favorite was Welkin, I went with a Stark Jegan type of thing although a Zaku would probably be more fitting with its axe and bazooka loadout.
I did have a pilot but I didn't take a screenshot and I didn't spend a lot time other than giving them a big ass anyway.
Also bonus is the overwatch 1 style global chat where people say a bunch of memes in my screenshots.
The rest is gonna be some of my thoughts but its not really comprehensive and I doubt the developers are really looking on tumblr to gauge people's interest in certain aspects.
If you want a basic idea of the game to me its like armored core 5 mixed with Overwatch (which I was very into). The current playable mechs support several playstyles, I've seen people who really like the flyers, or really love the melee mechs, and theres the turret ones, there are supports, and there are midrange mechs, so I think most people could find one that they like.
I started playing on the first day when they had twitch drop keys and I ended up with 15 hours on the game, I have some concerns with how things will be balanced later and ho they will monetize but overall the game was super fun and there will be a hole in my heart waiting to play it again.
The UI implies that there might be weapon customization which I would like, people also seem to think there will be more PvE in the full release. It a beta and the with the release date apparently looking at 2025 there's probably a handful of major parts of the game that weren't in a state they wanted to show to the public.
I've seen some people complain there's more pilot customization than mech customization, and I get it but the pilot customization is going to be more appealing to a mainstream audience that isn't already super into model kits or armored core and such. Also the 4 ass sliders are what half of the social media posts are about so it seemed to work.
I feel like the game has several factors work against it: mecha still sort of niche, and I imagine its niche for the demographic that is looking for a new hero shooter; it seems to have a very high production value which is good and bad because they're gonna really need to make good money; its a chinese indie developer so they will have to fight the allegations of being CCP spyware from a pinned comment in any reddit thread.
In spite of this the playtest had 50k players on all 3 days of the open beta and it seems to have gotten a good amount of attention on twitter and tikok (note: I do not use either of those regularly I just checked to see what normal people thought of them). It also came out at a good time with its announcement being when armored core 6 was on people's minds.
Final thoughts are I like it and good mecha action games are few and far between but I'm keeping my fingers crossed after Gundam Evolution crashed and burned (although I think everyone likes this more than gundam evolution).
#mecha break#mecha#i miss overwatch 1 global chat#my thing from global chat was “imagine getting a mechjob from narukami” and I keep thinking about it“#I have maybe one gameplay clip too that I'll maybe post

what’s your favorite gundam series and/ or mobile suit (either from the series or separate)? Mine favorite’s 00 and the Exia is my babygirl but, as the name implies, I’m also very partial to the Jegans (and their big sisters the Jestas *drools*)
Jegan’s are such fun little suits bc of how easily they seem to be able to be customized (forever gr at Bandai for making the stark jegan p Bandai)
Fav series is Unicorn hands down bc Ive always been a sucker for Believe In Humanity stories. That and the technicals are all just Absolutely Spot On. I own like all 3 or 4 of the ost discs? Still forever sad Marida died tho. Big L.
So while Unicorn is DEFINITELY up there for my fav suit (I have the rg and mg ver ka and I still want the MGEX and pg) I still think the gen3 suits from 00 Awaken the Trailblazer are all Fucking great, Zabanya and 00 Qan[t] topping that list. Actually no Harute fucks absolutely raw so Harute too :3

Just a quick photoshoot this time. Please excuse the very messy yellow vents, I'm very bad at hand painting.
