this isn’t intended to be a perfect fit for all this isn’t meta i’m just doing this for a laugh
if your question is, “why didn’t you put x movie as y character?” the answer is probably, “because i don’t remember that movie”

In the Maltese Falcon, Mary Astor was a grifter who worked in deception like a sculptor in clay. A few other women who made men play the sap:
Barbara Stanwyck in The Lady Eve. D: Preston Sturges (1941). She’s a con artist looking to fleece millionaire/ophiologist Henry Fonda until she realizes she’s in love with him. Then she tries to con him harder.
Glenne Headly in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. D: Frank Oz (1987). As an heiress targeted by rival con artists Michael Caine and Steve Martin, Headly is a perfect mark – but things aren’t always what they seem. If that’s a mild spoiler it’s worth it to see how she works.
Annette Bening in The Grifters. D: Stephen Frears (1990). She’s a down-on-her-luck con artist (her last partner went nuts) looking to come back by courting up-and-coming hustler John Cusack and crossing paths with his possessive racing tout mother in this dark story from a Jim Thompson novel.
Pam Grier in Jackie Brown. D: Quentin Tarantino (1997). Jackie is a flight attendant and part-time cash smuggler for a gun dealer (Samuel Jackson). When she gets busted and he thinks she’s a liability she has to con both him and the cops, with the help of a lovestruck bail bondsman (Robert Forster) in one of Tarantino’s most overlooked (and best) films.
Amy Adams in American Hustle. D: David O. Russell (2013). Adams is a grifter who poses as an English Aristocrat “Lady Edith Greensly.” When she and her partner/lover (Christian Bale) are caught by the FBI and blackmailed into helping with a sting operation to ensnare corrupt politicians. Luckily the agent running it (Bradley Cooper) is as dumb as he is unprincipled. Which is pretty dumb.

DIRTY PRETTY THINGS (2002)
