Chapter 19 of Shadowheart Begins now out

Sleep does not come easy that night. Shadowheart lays awake for a long time, thinking of her parents, what she will say to them when they meet, what condition they will be in … wondering if they will even want to see her.

She walks the animals in the morning, just to keep up a small semblance of normality before her life changes, yet again.

Then she dons her armour and gloves, and picks up the moonlight glaive, turning it over in her hands. It will be Selune’s divine power that she will wield in the heart of the Sharrans cloister today, along with Selune’s own weapon. It feels strange, but … right, somehow.

“Shadowheart!” a voice calls, and Shadowheart is surprised to see Isobel rushing toward her, and suddenly enveloping Shadowheart in a hug. “Good luck,” Isobel whispers. “I’ll be thinking of you, and if your parents need any help when they return with you, I’ll be right here and waiting.”

“Thank you, Isobel,” Shadowheart says, touched by her thoughtfulness. And then Florwyn is at her side too, looking slightly unprepared when Isobel, whom Florwyn doesn’t know very well, gives her a brief hug and a whispered “good luck” too.

“Isobel …” Shadowheart says quickly to stop the cleric before she dashes off again – and before she loses her own courage. “Could you … say something, before we go?”

“Like what?” Isobel says, frowning.

“Just something to …” Shadowheart clears her throat. “… your goddess.”

Isobel blinks, and Florwyn looks at her sideways, but neither make comment.

Isobel touches her arm while Shadowheart’s face burns, and says softly: “Let the moon be your light, and your glaive be a shining symbol of Our Lady in the dark. Moonmaiden, bring Shadowheart and her parents home, the gods know they deserve it. May your light guide Shadowheart and her friends and bring them all safely back.”

“Thank you,” Shadowheart breathes, when the prayer ends.

“The Moonmaiden guide your steps, dear friend,” Isobel whispers, leaving them to prepare for their departure.

I do not care how logical it is but Kittypets speak other languages then what clan cats do. And because i speak Swedish they speak Swedish lol

Which do work because Dandelionclan has always been the most inclusive clan so having Multiple languages in the clan fits them

Redesigns! Yay! This batch is of Leafstar and her family, plus Echosong. When I saw that Leafstar was one of the protagonists for The Elder's Quest arc, I wanted to go back and touch up her design. And that led to doing everyone else's also lol. For Leafstar, I really liked her first design here, so I kept most of it, like 90%, just made some of the markings simpler, easier to draw. Also I changed the colors slightly. Billystorm is pretty much the same as well, again changed the colors and made the red on the side of his face curve downward. Also redid the body shape, this one is more what I had intended before, just did it better here. Harrybrook got a different fur shape on his head, and a much lighter light color. Firefern is slightly more orange, added the flame mohawk and lighter flame pattern on her tail. Also extended the neck marking. Stormheart I darkened the orange, added a neckline to share with her sister and mother, made the other paw grey, and changed the face marking to look a bit more like Billystorm. Then Echosong. Her colors changed, and her face markings got completely redone, but her body is mostly the same. Originally she was more blue, like the old version, but I worried she looked too much like Feathertail, so I made her more warm-toned.

Just curious, does anybody know how old Leafstar’s kit’s would be by the beginning of power of three? Are they even born yet?

In Skyclan and the stranger, Sol leaves skyclan just as they’re born, and i assume he goes straight to the other clans, so then he appears in the middle of PO3.

Are her kits born yet by the sight? Or would they be newborns around Eclipse?

Why are two of Leafstar’s kittens gray???

Firefern makes sense, her dad is orange so she’s orange. Stormheart has cream patches like Leafstar

How come Hollystar got her 9 lives after the great battle but Harestar didn't? And why would anyone follow Darktail after he killed Onestar!? Or was that a secret harestar kept to himself on how his dad died?

Hollystar gets hers during the Great Battle to honor Firestar's dying wish and being right there next to the Moonpool. Jayfeather knows they're about to lose access to StarClan when they defeat the Dark Forest, so against his better judgement he allows Hollyleaf to connect with their ancestors one last time. Of the thousands of ancestors fighting, nine of the cats who had died in the battle by that point come forward to give what many think will be the final gifting of nine lives.

Harespring is too weak to travel to the Moonpool from where he is, much less have the strength to leave his father's side. Him and Onestar were particularly close, and no one expected Onestar to die considering he still had a considerable amount of lives left. If Jayfeather knew, he likely would've tried to get Harespring his as well before the connection was broken, just as he strived to do for his sister.

It should also be noted that Jayfeather is not being objective - like ultimately the arguably best course of action is to close the connection as soon as possible and halt the battle NOW, but he is written to be, while snappy and standoffish, incredibly emotional and is very swayed when put face to face with someone's troubles. He couldn't close the door on his sister even if it meant ending things, and while he does once she's safe and sound, he illogically delays ending the connection to ensure Hollyleaf returns to them with her nine lives. This is, while a charming trait at times, also a flaw of Jayfeather's as he is the complete opposite of Chi's bizarrely playful apathy.

As for following Darktail - it's much less about Darktail and much more about the hopelessness the clans feel after the battle. They fought and fought, but here stood WindClan without a leader - sure Harespring is the rightful leader, but with no nine lives many question if they should follow him. Furthermore many members of the clans, while happy to be alive, now feel as if they're no different than rogues or any other cat. AVoS in my rewrite is meant to really draw attention to the amount of xenophobia the clans feel and how they put themselves above others by validation of StarClan. Cats like Cloudtail understand the meaning of being a clan cat, but others think none of it matters without their ancestors there. As such many of the cats who follow Darktail are young, inexperienced, and begin to wonder if Darktail has a point. After all, even if he killed Onestar, StarClan didn't give them a new leader, so perhaps this is too twisted fate. While certainly not the majority of people follow Darktail, in fact it's a very small minority and not all of ShadowClan turning on Rowanstar in this, he strives to continue rebuilding The Kin, which stands for something many of the cats now find intriguing once the dust settles.

In Alderpaw's case, he sees the horrific state many of the cats are in, some more hostile towards the clan than others, and wishes to help them, partly out of a motivation to reason with Darktail and his goons rather than attack the clans when weakest as Darktail had planned. What's even more surprising is when Darktail actually takes young Alderpaw up on this...
