So you all know the Sonic Channel art of Shadow and the blue slippers

I know there has been some (very valid) criticism of Shadow only reacting to things that are centered around his memory of Maria. But my hc for this picture is that this is the first time in a while that Shadow has thought of Maria, and he realizes that.

Like, he's gotten more accustomed to his life on earth, and while he'd hesitate to label anyone as friends, he has other people that he's around and involved with to some extent. What used to be living constantly in the memories of Maria's kindness, and later death, now he's just living on earth as his own being, and gradually shifted his focus from the past to the present.

So when he sees these shoes in the shop window, it's not just that he's reminded of Maria, it's that he's reminded that he hasn't thought of Maria in a long while, where he can't really remember the last time she's lived inside his head, the memories of which dictated his every thought and action. It's bittersweet, but I don't think he actually resents himself for that. Instead, he realizes that he's finally moving on.

Kenshin is portrayed differently in '23 than in '96, just slightly. He's more standoffish and, while he does have his silly moments, he's a little more serious than his '96 counterpart. In '96 there was this whole thing about the Manslayer and the Rurouni being different parts of him, but in the newer one it seems like they're blending the two together more. If that makes sense? I do miss how they did his eyes in '96 though (when he turned into the Manslayer and his eyes changed). Anyways, I love Kenshin so much.

dichotomous plants are so weird man. like they’re not even weird it’s the becoming the dichotomous that’s weird. i went to a talk once about a population of strawberries that were accidentally slowly becoming dichotomous and they didn’t even have sex chromosomes, like they had like a bunch of genes across a bunch of chromosomes that did a little bit of sex but not a lot and it added up to one whole sex kind of but not enough that they had all collectively decided to be one sex or the other, so there was still like, a sizable chunk of the population that was producing flowers of both sexes. like they were microdosing it. taking the sex genes for a spin in the strawberry patch

#the conclusion of the talk was like #what if plants are slowly become more dichotomous over time because it’s more advantageous?#and I was like. that would be interesting but I feel like they would have done it already if it was that good #sex genes are really only as good as the creature or life form you are I think #making the sex genes work for YOU #and for those wild strawberries in the American west. they were just being silly about it you know #and my assumption that having dedicated sex chromosomes that hold the majority but not all sex-related info. turns out that’s kinda weird
