Hey Detective Conan nerds guess what I just did? Went to to the departure ceremony of a brand stanking new Conan train that's what! Today they unveiled the Super Hakuto Detective Conan Edition. It had departure ceremonies in both Tottori and Osaka! I went to the one in Osaka.
Not the best video I know but here it is coming into the station!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's some of the details of the train. It was only at the station for a limited amount of time because people were actually riding it so I didn't have time to take super great photos sorry. In two of the photos though you can actually see some of the details inside the train!
I also have a crappy video of the departure which I'll upload in a reblog since you can only have one video per post.
Tumblr media
Here's the sign from the departure ceremony (which was ticket only and I wasn't able to figure out how to get one).
Tumblr media
And the logo for the train by the limited goods booth.
I didn't manage to get the special commemorative freebie they were handing out but I heard they ran out in the first minute so I don't feel as bad. I'll also upload pics of the merch I bought at the PR booth upstairs but rn I'm trying to let my body rest after traveling around all day (I got home from Osaka after about 4.5hrs on trains, half being local), so that will probably happen a different day.
As for details about the train, the Super Hakuto is an express train that runs between Kyoto and Tottori via Osaka. It's actually run by a private company and is not one of the JR companies' trains, though in Osaka it uses a JR platform and runs on JR lines. The Conan model is planned to run about once a day roundtrip on weekends and holidays.
Anyways enjoy! I made my fully planned solo trip in Japan (and ever actually I guess) to see this train. I'll definitely have to ride it in the future!!

I just finished reading Gaara Hiden and it wasn't bad but it also wasn't really as good as I expected or wanted it to be.
I wanted more interaction between the sand siblings and more descriptions of Suna and its history and culture.
And also I was super disappointed to see that Shinki wasn't part of the novel actually. I hoped he would get introduced but instead we got Mary-Sue-like "love interest" for Gaara but minus any actual love interest between them...
I did like the end with Shikamaru appearing and Kankurou having his younger brothers back even when kazekage isn't in the village. And how many times Naruto is mentioned by Gaara, that was cute.
But what's up with Hakuto's sister's smile being compared to Gaara's mom's smile when she died while he was a child??? How does he remember her smile??
And also my girl Temari should've been mentioned more since she'll be leaving it should've been handled better by the writer though it had its good moments

Could I request a cute Izuku x reader where Izuku is head over heels for the reader and while they are at the she follows them around and tries to do things to get the two of them closer to each other until Izuku confesses?
Hey! Sorry this took so long but I'm done now! I was a tiny bit confused but I hope its what you want!! My requests and Anime match-ups are still open! :p I hope you all like it!! :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Midoriya Izuku x Reader
You try to tell Izuku you like him by doing things to bring you closer together.
Words: 803
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Would you stop acting like a damn puppy!” Bakugou yelled at you.
“What does that mean!” You shouted back to him.
“While Bakugou said it in such an unmanly way, i’m pretty sure he’s talking about how you always give Deku puppy eyes when he’s too far from you.” Kirshima said with a smile
“Or you know, following him around like you're lost.” Jirou added.
“Oh! Or the way you kind of do everything for him! Like help with homework, give him quirk suggestions, or telling him details about our quirks so he can write them down.” Denki said dancing around you.
“Okay, Okay I get it!! It isn't acting like a puppy, it's my way of trying to be close to him. Like confessing without… confessing.” You said as they stated at you blankly.
“I get it! You're trying to communicate that you like him without saying it out right so that he won't stomp on your heart and obliterate your dreams. That’s super cute, l/n!” Mina said, gazing at you with stars in her eyes. When she said it like that it made you feel just a little sad but oh well it was working you think. Speaking of the man he came over to say his daily hello to you.
“Hey L/n! Thanks for picking up my suit for me, Mei always wants to talk forever!” He said with his cute smile.
“No problem, I also picked up this!” You said handing him the Hakuto Jelly.
“Woah! Where did you find it! I thought they would be gone by now.” He said as his mouth watered.
“A shop near my parents house had some, I got the last one for you!” You said with a gigantic smile.
“Thanks, l/n. It's very awe- , sweet of you to get it for me.” He blushed and mumbled but before the conversation could continue Mr. Aizawa came in and Izuku went back to his seat with a wave. You groaned in frustration, yeah you were in deep. Class let out for the day and once again you had a mound of homework due tomorrow.
“I was so spaced out thinking about that new move Momo did that I didn't even pay attention in class and I have no idea what all our homework is about.” You heard Izuku say in front of you, seeing this as a golden opportunity you cut in.
“I could help you, Midoriya.” You smiled at him.
“O-oh are you sure? I don't want to be a bother.” He stuttered cutely. You assured him he wasn't and you to we're off to do homework together. Your quest of doing nice things for Izuku did not end there. Throughout the week you had sparred with him, helped him refine his notes, coughed up all the quirk details you knew, showed him how to make some Jellies himself, and stayed with him in the infirmary everytime he had to go. You thought for sure you two would be close enough for him to confess since you thought maybe he liked you but nope! Nothing happened but stuttering and blushing. Today was no different as you were helping Izuku make a Bento for lunch.
“No, you're cutting it too big. Try cutting it like this.” You said as you angled his arm and then his hand. He blushed furiously while nodding at you.
“l/n, can I be… Honest with you.” He asked you side eyeing you but still chopping things up.
“Of course!” You said giving him your brightest smile even though you were completely panicking.
“You’ve been awfully kind to me. Iida said you were probably trying to communicate to me that you liked me… are you?” He spoke slowly and softly. You set a mental note to send your big bad best friends, i.e Bakugou and Mina after Iida for exposing you.
“Yes, you're just really amazing, Midoriya! And you’re kind and selfless, you're gonna make a great hero. I understand if you don't accept my feelings i'm okay with being friends. I just wanna be near you and be as helpful as I can.” You said as you began making rice balls.
“N-no! That's not it at all! I really… r-really like you l/n! For a longtime actually, since our first conversation. So I should be the one asking if you return my feelings.” He said almost cutting himself. In your head you were doing the biggest happy dance ever.
“How about we both accept each other's feelings.” You said turning to him with a smile.
“Okay, then can I ask you on a date? Y-you can say no!” He said looking away from you.
“I accept, again.” You laughed lightly, with that weight off his shoulder he laughed too.
“God Damn Puppies!” Bakugou said with a sleepy frown.

J-Novel Club Announces Five New Titles During Livestream
Publisher J-Novel Club announced the acquisition of five new titles during an industry livestream today, including four light novels and one manga adaptation. Chapters of all of the titles will be available to check out today via J-Novel Club's website and app.
Here's an overview of the latest to join the library:
    Goodbye Otherworld, See You Tomorrow
Author: Kazamidori
Illustrator: Nimoshi
Tumblr media
    Synopsis:
The world he woke up in is long dead, dusted in ashen powder, and yet Keisuke still sees splashes of color as he travels through it. For the longest time, he’s wandered alone across the deserted landscape, clinging to the hope that something—or someone—might be out there in the emptiness. When he finally stumbles across that someone, even more threads of color start to seep into the ashen world around them.
This time, when Keisuke sets off down the road, someone sits beside him in the passenger seat. The first acquaintance he’s ever made here, his first companion in this barren world. They’re both traveling in search of something, and after searching alone for so long, maybe they’ll have better luck working together? Their only lead is a witch who can answer any question—for a price. What will the two ask her, and what will she be able to tell them? More importantly, what will it cost them, and will they be willing to pay the price?
Private Tutor to the Duke's Daughter
Author: Riku Nanano
Illustrator: cura
Tumblr media
    Synopsis:
After failing the final exam for his dream job at the royal court, promising young sorcerer Allen wants nothing more than to retreat to a simple life in the countryside. Unfortunately for him, he can’t even afford the train fare! His only solution is to get a job, but his one lead is anything but modest—Duke Howard, one of the kingdom’s most powerful nobles, needs a private tutor for his daughter Tina.
Despite her academic brilliance, Tina is incapable of casting even a single spell. To make matters worse, entrance exams for the prestigious Royal Academy are fast approaching, and magical aptitude is mandatory! Can Allen use his unique brand of spellcasting to help Tina overcome her magical impairment, a mystery that not even the kingdom’s finest sorcerers have been able to solve? And does her father, the duke, even want him to?
Endo and Kobayashi Live! The Latest on Tsundere Villainess Lieselotte
Author: Suzu Enoshima
Illustrator: Eihi
Tumblr media
    Synopsis:
One day, Crown Prince Sieg hears the Voices of the Gods out of the blue. Apparently, his fiancée Lieselotte is a “tsun de rais” villainess destined to meet her demise...and her sharp tongue is just a way of covering up her embarrassment. The prince can hardly contain himself after discovering Lieselotte's adorable hidden side. Little does he know, the heavenly beings that bestowed this knowledge unto him are actually high schoolers!
Can he use their divine prophecy (let’s play commentary) to save his betrothed and avoid a Bad End?!
Full Clearing Another World under a Goddess with Zero Believers
Author: Isle Osaki
Illustrator: Tam-U
Tumblr media
    Synopsis:
Makoto Takatsuki is a normal high school student and a hardcore RPG player. However, “normal” goes out the window when his whole class is involved in a bus crash and whisked away to another world! Powerful gods rule this strange new land of magic and monsters, and every newcomer is blessed with strong stats and unique skills. Well, not quite. Makoto’s stats turn out to be pathetic, and his skills are super weak compared to his classmates’...he’s even stuck as an apprentice mage. Worse still, he’s given only ten years to live!
Luckily, Makoto soon meets a minor goddess named Noah, who appears in Makoto’s dreams and asks him to become her first believer. With the help of Noah's blessings and a divine weapon, Makoto seeks to become strong enough to rescue his goddess from the dungeon where she’s been trapped. By training hard and using his weak skills in unorthodox ways, Makoto proves that, even when playing on hardcore difficulty, an RPG player always makes it to the end!
J-Novel Club also licensed the manga adaptation of the above series, which comes from Hakuto Shiroi. That one also launches today with the first chapter of volume 1.

One Piece Birthdays: Honorable Mentions
One Piece has hundreds of characters, and over the past year I’ve celebrated the birthdays of only about a few hundred or so of them. So I’d like to take the time to mention every One Piece character without a birthday. Some don’t have birthdays because they’ve debuted too recently, some have no birthdays because they have been forgotten. Some have no birthdays because we haven’t gotten to that yet, even though they’ve existed for a long time and we remember them. To start off with, I will mention every character that exists within the canon that have names. Some you’ll remember. Some you won’t recognize, but if I showed you a picture of them you’d be like “Oh yeah that guy”. And then some of them you won’t have any recollection of, and I can’t blame you for it. Today, we will honor your memories, and hope that one day, Eiichiro Oda gives you a birthday.

I used the names that they are given on the wiki, as opposed to their Official English names, if they even have one. I did this so that you can simply search their names on the One Piece Wiki and learn about them, if any interest you. However, a couple of them are so obscure that they don’t even have their own pages, in which case you will only be able to fine them here.
Next we will honor all non-canon characters. These characters appeared in filler, movies, specials, OVAs, one-shots, video games, or any other material that was officially made but not part of the manga. These characters are gaurunteed to never get a birthday, and that is a curse they bear. Now some non-canon characters, such as Gion and Tokikake, debut in non-canon and then later appear in canon, making them canon characters, and thus giving them a chance to have a birthday. However, this is such a rare case, that I wouldn’t count on it, especially for non-canon characters that debuted years ago.

Lastly, I want to honor all characters, canon and non-canon, with no names. The majority of these characters are just extras that only appeared in one panel or shot. But there’s a couple that are actually memorable, such as that one guy that was in Spandine’s group, or the masked CP-0 members. Some of these people can actually get names eventually. For example, Don Quixote Mjosgard was a nameless character for the longest time, until in the Reverie he became important and was given a name. I cannot list these nameless characters, as they have no names, but I do still want to honor them, and hope that one day they will be given names and have birthdays.

Super Cub Ep 2
Koguma befriends a fellow Cub rider, Reiko who is a more experienced rider. Encouraged by her, Koguma decides to break her daily routine of riding straight home from school to explore a bit further to places she’s never been to before, encountering a better supermarket than she usually frequent and discovers the joy of venturing into the unknown, one small step at a time.
Sometimes when we feel like life is mundane and meaningless, we just have to break our daily routine and try something new or go to places we’ve never been to before. It doesn’t have to be radical like going for impromptu sky diving or leaving the country, just something small but enough to make you feel alive a little, to make you realize that there’s more to life than you think.

A look inside Japan’s obsession with bizarre mascots
Tumblr media
In Japan, mascots are more than a cultural phenomenon. They’re a billion-dollar business.
Jacu-jii is a human jacuzzi faucet who represents the Osaka Waterworks Bureau. A boxing rabbit named Super Hakuto-kun is the face of an express train service. There’s Melon Kuma, a terrifying, tourism-promoting fruit-bear hybrid, and Colon-chan, a character with hot pink, intestine-shaped hair, who encourages colonoscopies.
In the United States, mascots are designed to appeal to children and are typically associated with sports and consumer brands. This is not true in Japan, where almost every brand, prefecture, and local government is represented by a mascot, promoting everything from local produce to pachinko parlors and generating billions of dollars in the process. And unlike American mascots that exist to stand out, Japanese mascots are made to blend in.
Tumblr media
This is the heart of “yuru-chara,” the championing of mascots as part of everyday life. Japanese artist Jun Miura is widely credited with coining the term in 2009, outlining three fundamental components of a yuru-chara mascot:
It must convey a strong message of love for one’s hometown.
Its movements should be unique and unstable or awkward.
It should be unsophisticated or laid-back and lovable.
It’s a recipe that works for a Japanese audience, a mixture of regional loyalty and self-deprecation in a place where celebration of the absurd flourishes. Though reverence for non-human characters can be traced back to the cultural impact of Kami, the spirits which form the foundation of the polytheistic Shinto religion, the recent proliferation of yuru-chara began in 2007 with Hikonyan, a samurai cat created by the Hikone city government to mark the 400th anniversary of Hikone Castle. The mascot wasn’t just popular — it was a phenomenon. People flocked to see Hikonyan, generating more than $200 million in tourism spending. Other cities took note, hoping to replicate Hikone’s success with mascots of their own. Brands and businesses followed suit.
Though yuru-chara was initially rooted in connecting people to brands, the public’s love for the characters themselves soon created a demand for apparel, accessories, food, toys, and just about anything else that could be branded with a mascot’s image. Merchandise sales reached a reported $16 billion in 2012, and fan loyalty has only continued to grow.
Tumblr media
Chris Carlier runs “Mondo Mascots,” a popular Twitter account that highlights the best and worst of Japan’s mascot culture, which fascinated Carlier when he first moved to Tokyo from Britain. Though Carlier has spoken to many of the people inside the costumes, they never reveal their identities, always speaking in character, and only for short periods. Many of them are full-time employees who spend most of their time making public appearances, he says, especially if they represent a brand or large city. The job is less glamorous in smaller prefectures where characters are often played by “reluctant young town hall employees” roped into the role.
Yuru-chara has had a fair share of international exposure, though people might not realize it. Domo, a fluffy, saw-toothed monster who represents Japan’s public broadcaster, Nippon Hoso Kyokai, gained widespread popularity in fledgling meme communities Newgrounds and YTMND as early as 2001. As one of the internet’s first identifiable memes, it wasn’t long before Domo merchandise flooded the western market, even if people didn’t know where the image came from.
During the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Ippei-Kun caught the imagination of soccer fans with tweets full of ennui and existential dread. Ippei-Kun’s Twitter account became a must-follow element of the World Cup itself, elevating each of Japan’s games and turning them into something wholly special. The juxtaposition of a cute mascot with soul-crushing despair resonated with a western audience largely because of how weird it was, but also how perfectly it mirrored society.
Carlier says elements of yuru-chara can even be found in the U.S., particularly when it comes to the cult-like following surrounding Philadelphia’s sports mascots, which he considers the cream of the crop.
Tumblr media
“Gritty or the Phillie Phanatic are as bonkers as any you’d find in Japan,” he says.
Gritty, the Philadelphia Flyers’ beloved orange fur-covered giant, is arguably the most popular mascot in American sports. Why? Because he’s weird. More than simply entertainment for children, Gritty routinely harasses reporters, fans, and players with his antics and is no stranger to controversy. Even people who would never identify as sports fans still recognize Gritty as part of the city’s identity.
While that spirit defines Japanese mascot culture, an existential threat hangs over the long-term future of yuru-chara: the weight of its own popularity. There are so many mascots in Japan, government officials have pushed for a culling of less popular mascots to keep the yuru-chara system alive. The Yuru-Chara Grand Prix is an annual contest where fans vote for their favorite mascots, which also keeps tabs on the popularity of government-sponsored characters. While it helps justify why certain mascots have value, it also serves to push out those who are underperforming.
It’s unclear whether yuru-chara will continue in perpetuity. What is evident, however, is officials are terrified of seeing the culture end entirely given the massive boon to local economies and governments that would otherwise struggle for funding. With the incredible success of yuru-chara comes the understanding that oversaturating the market could cause it to collapse.
For now, yuru-chara thrives in Japan, where everything has a mascot, and every mascot has a purpose — at least until the next big thing comes along.
