Gitanyow Challenges Ksi Lisims LNG To Prove GHG Reduction Promises
https://www.gitanyowchiefs.com/news/gitanyow-challenges-ksi-lisims-lng-to-prove-ghg-reduction-promises/
"The Gitanyow Hereditary Chiefs (GHC) issued a detailed response to Ksi Lisims LNG’s letter, dated December 22, 2023, raising critical points challenging the project’s claims regarding climate impacts and fisheries in the Nass Watershed."
“'To claim their project will reduce carbon emissions is simply not credible,' says Simogyet Malii/Glen Williams. 'The implications of the Ksi Lisims project for increasing drought, wildfires, and glacial recession within Gitanyow’s traditional territory and globally are alarming.  If Ksi Lisims LNG is dedicated to reducing climate impacts and GHG emissions, Gitanyow challenges the proponents to provide all evidence to support their claims.'"
"Since November 24, 2023, Gitanyow has sought answers from Ksi Lisims to determine whether a Gitanyow Wilp Sustainability Assessment Process (WSAP) should be initiated for the proposed project. WSAP is crucial for reviewing major developments within Gitanyow Lax’yip (Territory) or those affecting Gitanyow rights."
"In light of information gaps impacting Gitanyow’s decision-making, the GHC urges a pause in the current British Columbia Environmental Assessment Office (BCEAO) review process until essential studies are completed."
https://www.gitanyowchiefs.com/news/support-grows-for-the-ghcs-call-for-the-environmental-assessment-office-b-c-government-to-pause-environmental-assessment-process-for-the-ksi-lisims-lng-project/
"Five B.C.-based organizations concur with concerns raised by the Gitanyow Hereditary Chiefs about substantial deficiencies in Ksi Lisims’ application to the B.C. Environmental Assessment Office for a liquefied natural gas project."
"The David Suzuki Foundation, Sierra Club BC, Stand.earth, the Wilderness Committee and Northwest Institute are calling on the EAO to address the myriad flaws in the application and compel the proponent to undertake a comprehensive analysis that considers its climate, electrification strategy, wild salmon health and Indigenous rights implications. In alignment with the Gitanyow Hereditary Chiefs’ plea, we advocate for a pause in the environmental assessment process for the project until essential studies are completed, and credible evidence supporting the proponents’ assertions is provided. Issues raised should be addressed by the company before the Gitanyow Wilp Sustainability Assessment Process and the environmental assessment process can proceed."

" So, what do you think ? "
He sits cross-legged on the ground, looking particularly small compared to the wide canvas in front of him, small against the vast swelling of emotion in his heart, both ecstatic and nervous over going so far with something so new. Painting is something so new, and some smudges of colors still refuse to fade away from his hands and his cheek. The same colors paint a landscape laid out in a horizontal perspective, shapes angular and geometric in a way that he has grown fond of using. Trees frame the horizon on either side but fade towards the centor, and they slope upwards and end in thick, sharp points, colliding with the sky in rasping brush strokes. Within the blue expanse is its sierra of color, ranging from bright arctic shades to low aegean hues. Plashes of violet skirt at the edges of the piece, smoothing out the blue into black.
Perhaps even more striking, was the two lone white dots in the centre of the sky, parallel but following the same path, adorned with a bright halo of colours, white that fades to yellow and yellow that breaks to green, green that clashes with red and red that joins the blue, colours overlapping to give the starlight a prismatic shine that stands out.
His head sways to the side, both giddiness and whimsical anxieties well-hidden underneath his teasing smile. " Would it catch the eyes of a certain Phantom Thief ? "
@espectres
for a renaissance angel , the kaleidoscope array of colors in front of him is fantastically abstract and avant-garde . it suits shou , he thinks ; offers a glimpse of a parallel , polarized world so full and bursting with --- everything . every vibrant speck and cell that must have found itself reflected and visible to the prismatic boy that had been born with one foot planted firmly into each plane , espers and the mundane , now with a creature of timeless hikari magic looking over his work . standing before shou's creation , the invisible seems to turn visible , and the great phantom thief feels something he's never felt before .
a single loud beat in his heart leaves a cold , smooth palm landing on the top of shou's head . although it's an early , wordless approval , dark still hasn't torn his gaze away from the painted flash in front of him --- the thin slits of his eyes cinching , then rounding as they widen , his growing grin and its sharp teeth admitting to every desire . was it because of the craft , or the crafter ? woe to admit his envy . his jealousy . he wants , even if his only confession is a devilish expression ; his usual air of prideful scheming and lonesome longing , the dire , nocturnal hunger of a black beast that had --- and was , utterly nothing but its own dark .
Tumblr media
' i ... could never do something like this . ' which is its own sort of hush-murmured confession too . he has no idea how anyone did it . turn simple lines and easily recognizable colors into masterpieces , works of art . things that he marveled over ; things that he hoarded up and treasured . for just a moment the pointer of his free hand twitches . wouldn't he love to touch --- but the paint might not be dry yet and he doesn't want to ruin anything be it by impulse or impatience , or even the muffled desire to be stained by a color so bright and lively . thus he covets what wouldn't so easily crumble or collapse at his reach-out instead ; swings a leg languidly across his other in one fluid motion as his torso bends forward , until he leans both of his arms onto shou's smaller figure , whatever weight the boy might be forced to bear ( and likewise , whatever indignant complaint that might escape the other --- ) none of the great phantom thief's apparent concern .
' daisuke could never make anything like this . ' if this was nothing more than the suzuki's early , experimental sort of work , then one could only wonder what the boy might have been able to make with an even greater , familiarized mastery . he'd like to see it , too . wanted to wish shou's playful thrills endlessness , and what meticulous care the boy always seemed to be able to shape out of the arts immortality , a beauty and youthfulness that would last even as its creator grew taller , older , until the boy's back bent and he was no longer a boy , but an old man --- with a long list of creations everlasting beyond him . what he thinks is : he sees light and love . the likes of which the hikari lacked for its own proud miracles and hollow-created things . what he thinks is : good for you , and it feels bittersweet , nevertheless ripe with relief , the strings of the great phantom thief's heart playing a soundless , tense , and melancholy melody for a work of art that could not possibly hear him .
in the end , dark's eyes shut and he laughs a little --- with an impish round of mischievous hisses . beyond his thoughts was the echo of shou's question ; wasn't it flattering too , in its own way , to have someone so plainly holding his ideas in such high , expectant regard ? he says nothing of it , merely cherishing the starlight sensation lighting himself up from within by a gentle glow . he keeps himself above shou ; his eyes kept on the suzuki's well-made artwork , so that he might not need to confront the boy himself . but of course , it's beautiful . as wonderful and amazing as the rest of you . what he thinks is not what he can bring himself to say , wondering whether or not shou might believe it ; allow it . continuous sincerity didn't always suit him , and so he quietly veils it ; turns it , and his own tender thoughts away .
' hm , don't tell daisuke that i said that . he might cry . ' and yet , the great phantom thief's own teasing grin remains unwavering . ' why don't you tell me more about this painting instead ? i'd like to hear you talk about it ... and to know whether or not you plan to give it to someone . '

it had been just over a week since lucas had promised one of his reliable customers he’d by her a car. which sounds like something more but he was trying to convince himself it was just a good deed that most people would do if they could. there had been many contenders but he was adamant about a few things. it had to be reliable, cheap to fix and well two doors. the search wasn’t as difficult as what he was expecting in fact he got it at a good price and it only require a few minor touch ups before he was going to send her on the way. lucas had sent a text to ruth early on saturday morning telling her he had a surprise, which he was aware she’d know what it was but- that didn’t matter. the light blue suzuki sierra sat much smaller when parked beside his truck but he thought it was fitting for ruth. “just as promised, now that thing won’t break easily but if it does the parts aren’t through the roof.” the keys still in his pocket as he pointed to the car, “but please, don’t try to break it.”

Comparison between the Suzuki Jimny and Pajero Mini kei cars.
Check your rivals!
Speaking of cross-country 4WD light vehicles, we must not forget the Jimny, which is undoubtedly the biggest and strongest competitor to the Pajero Mini. Here, I would like to analyze the differences in the characters of Pajero Mini and Jimny.
Although it is a rival car, it asserts a different personality.
The difference between the two only 4WD vehicles in its class is clear.
When it comes to full-fledged cross-country 4WD light vehicles, the Jimny is something you shouldn't forget. It is not difficult to imagine that when developing the Pajero Mini, it was seen as a ``rival''.
It has been 13 years since Jimny first appeared!
The Jimny has been extremely popular due to its extremely long range, and as it is a powerful model, it is sure to be of interest when purchasing a Pajero Mini.
Pajero Mini & Jimny, the big difference between these two cars is simply ``Are they a van or a wagon?''
In fact, the Jimny does not come with a 5-number wagon (although there is only a 1.3-liter Sierra), and all models are registered as vans, whereas all Pajero Minis are registered as passenger wagons with a 5-number.
I think it's safe to say that this fact clearly speaks not only to the difference in registration and number, but also to the personalities of these two cars.
While the Jimny focused on the basic performance required of a 4WD vehicle, such as durability and ability to travel on rough roads, the Pajero Mini has added elements such as ``RV-like product appeal'' and ``utility.'' It can be said that these are RV cars that add ``comfortable living,'' and this is what makes both cars unique.
This is a major point in creating a star. For example, the Pajero Mini can be said to be more "passenger car-like" than the Jimny's "Spartanness."
Looking at the mechanism, the Jimny has a 4-wheel leaf suspension and a 3-cylinder SOHC turbo engine, which is undeniably a bit ``old-fashioned'' compared to the Pajero Mini's 4-wheel coil suspension and 4 cylinder unit.
Considering the additional equipment, Jimny has a bit of a hard time.
The price of both cars is important, but the Pajero Mini starts from 1,118,000yen for the basic grade XR-I MT to the top grade
VR-II・AT at 1, 478,000 yen. Jimny Van HA/MT with basic grade knees starting from 1,059,000 yen, top grade Panoramic roof EC-AT at 1,335,000 yen, Jimny is cheaper in all groups. .
Prices are about 100,000 to 150,000 yen cheaper on average.
The price difference between the top-grade VR-II and Panoramic Roof EC is about 130,000 yen, but considering the difference in equipment between the two, it's hard to say that the Jimny is a better value. For example, the VR-II comes standard with air conditioning, power steering, power windows, and a center door lock, while the Jimny comes with power windows, Center door lock is not set. Furthermore, considering that the VR-II comes standard with a grille guard, and that the SRS airbag system and 4-wheel ABS can be ordered as options, this price difference may be more than justified.
Considering these things, if you were to choose between the Jimny and the Pajero Mini, if you are looking for the versatility and comfort of an RV, you would definitely choose the Pajero Mini. If you're looking for the wildness typical of a cross country, the Jimny is the answer.
PIC CAPTIONS
▼In terms of styling, while the Jimny has straight lines, the Pajero Mini has rounded lines, emphasizing a sense of volume. Ingenuity can be seen in the treatment around the fender.
▲The unit installed in Jimny is an in-line 3-cylinder SOHC turbo. Has a performance of 58ps/8.8kg-m

An international coalition of environmental groups dropped banners and blockaded roads to protest the International Nuclear Energy Summit in Brussels on Thursday.
While the summit, hosted by the Belgian government and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), pushes nuclear energy as a replacement for fossil fuels, more than 600 climate action groups launched a declaration calling nuclear power plants a "distraction which slows down the energy transition."
"We are in a climate emergency, so time is precious, and the governments here today are wasting it with nuclear energy fairy tales," Greenpeace E.U. senior campaigner Lorelei Limousin said in a statement. "All the evidence shows that nuclear power is too slow to build, too expensive, and it remains highly polluting and dangerous."
At the United Nations COP28 climate conference in the United Arab Emirates last year, more than 20 countries pledged to triple nuclear energy capacity by 2050. However, Greenpeace France calculated that achieving this would mean finishing 70 reactors each year between 2040 and 2050. This would be an unprecedented buildout in defiance of current trends: Between 2020 and 2023, 21 reactors were completed while 24 were shut down worldwide.
In the European Union specifically, many countries turned away from nuclear after 2011 in response to the Fukushima accident in Japan, according to Reuters. Germany shuttered its last three reactors for good in April 2023 following a successful anti-nuclear campaign there. In general, the nuclear share of the E.U. power mix dropped from 32.8% in 2000 to 22.8% in 2023, Greenpeace said.
Activists argue that nuclear still poses all the dangers the anti-nuclear movement has been warning about for decades and also cannot be ramped up quickly enough to prevent escalating climate extremes.
To reinforce this message, members of Greenpeace France blockaded the main roads to the Brussels summit using cars and bicycles. They also lit pink flares and threw pink powder as a motorcade of officials en route to the summit approached. The action succeeded in delaying the arrival of several delegations, Greenpeace E.U. said.
Other demonstrators dropped banners from the summit site at Brussels Expo reading, "Nuclear Fairy Tale," while a group representing the 600 declaration signatories protested in front of an inflatable bouncy castle holding up a sign reading, "Nuclear fairy tales = climate crisis."
The declaration was drafted by Climate Action Network Europe and signed by groups from at least 56 different countries and territories including Climate Action Network Canada, the David Suzuki Foundation, the Sierra Club, Food and Water Watch, CodePink, International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, and several 350.org, Fridays for Future, and Friends of the Earth affiliates.
"The nuclear lobby camouflages itself beneath a climate-friendly facade, hoping to divert massive sums of money away from real climate solutions, at the expense of people and the planet," the declaration reads.
The signatories pointed out that, while the world must dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 in order to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C above preindustrial levels, it would take longer than this for any new nuclear plant to come online.
At the same time, it costs significantly more money to increase nuclear capacity than renewable options like wind and solar, they stressed. A new reactor requires almost four times the funds of a new wind power installation.
"Governments need to invest in proven climate solutions, such as home insulation, public transport, and renewable energy, rather than expensive experiments, like small modular reactors, which have no guarantees of actually delivering," the declaration says.
It also points to safety risks across the nuclear lifecycle, from uranium mining to waste storage. And it adds that those dangers would only increase as temperatures rise.
"The climate crisis also increases the risks involved in nuclear power, as increased heatwaves, droughts, storms, and flooding all pose significant threats to the plants themselves and to the systems that aim to prevent nuclear accidents," the signatories argued.
Instead, the declaration proposes that governments focus on achieving 100% renewable energy while also improving efficiency.
