The update process will take about 5-10 minutes Microsoft has released a large functional update to Windows 11 2023 or 23H2, which is now available to all OS users without exception. It is considered the last major OS release before the release of Windows 12. [caption id="attachment_78162" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Windows 11 update[/caption] There is a bit of confusion surrounding this update. The fact is that the update was initially introduced in September as the biggest update in the history of Windows 11, and then the company began to gradually distribute some of its innovations to some users in the form of the Windows 11 Moment 4 update.  The biggest Windows 11 update has become available to all users Thus, those who have not yet managed to join Windows 11 Moment 4 will receive the entire major update at once, including the new Copilot assistant, Cocreator artificial intelligence functions in Paint, Photos and Scissors, a redesigned Explorer, improvements in the taskbar, and much more.  Those users who have already joined Windows 11 Moment 4, along with Windows 11 2023, receive such an innovation as the removal of the Microsoft Teams integration called Chat. Previously, Microsoft Teams was deeply built into the system and turned on by default in the taskbar. Now the Chat app is no longer pinned to the taskbar - all features are available in the Microsoft Teams app. Also, with a “clean” installation, 23H2 finally rids users of the Cortana voice assistant and the old Mail application. Like its predecessors, versions 21H2 and 22H2, Windows 11 23H2 will receive two years of active support (until October 2025) with monthly cumulative updates, fixes, and new features. As a reminder, support for Windows 11 21H2 expired earlier this month. As for version 22H2, Microsoft will stop updating it after a year, on October 4, 2024. The Windows 11 2023 Update does not change hardware requirements and works with existing apps, services, and drivers. The update is optional for now, but Microsoft plans to automatically update PCs in the coming months. Currently, users can download the update manually through Settings and Windows Update, while businesses can use options such as Windows Update for Business. The update process is expected to take about 5-10 minutes.

Biostacis - “Brain Hack” System_Upgrade by Dieselboy 2000 Drum & Bass
***Song starts at 16:12 and ends at 19:25***
At the time of this song’s release, the British duo Biostacis consisted of Bart Icus and the prolific Mark Caro, better known as Technical Itch. When they met in 1996, Icus didn’t have any credits to his name, except for one 12-inch from the year prior that he had made with his group, Served Chilled. But that didn’t seem to matter to Caro, who had been releasing a bunch of records since 1993. Icus would add another 12-inch to his discography in 1997, under the Served Chilled alias, Ice Minus, before Biostacis would make their debut the following year. And yet, despite Icus’ seeming lack of experience, according to an uncredited bio that’s appeared on a handful of websites, “Mark and Bart complimented [sic] each other, Bart’s vast sound archive complementing Mark’s technical abilities.” Icus seemed to possess a unique library of sounds that Mark could capitalize on.
In 2000, the Biostacis boys would drop their third release, a double 12-inch EP called Biotactics, released on Caro’s own label, Tech Itch Recordings. Appearing on that EP is a song called “Brain Hack,” which Pittsburgh’s Dieselboy would include on his fantastic mix, System_Upgrade, the same year.
But why am I posting a version from a particular mix rather than the full, original track? Well, sometimes the DJ finds a way to enhance the original with their own mixing skills. And on here, Dieselboy lets bits of Dom & Roland’s “Can’t Punish Me” bleed in pretty early, a little more than halfway through, before it proceeds to gradually smother “Brain Hack.” The mix of a speedy drum break, vibrating and revving sub-bass frequencies, rattling hats, and unique zapping sounds end up clashing rather nicely with a catchy, stringy, stuttering synth melody. Since up until this point “Brain Hack” was lacking synths, it was cool for Dieselboy to give it some, effectively yielding a newfangled tune that’s satisfyingly packed with sound.
Sweet mixing moment by Dieselboy to meld these two turn-of-the-century dnb tracks together.

E-Sassin - “Symptom” System_Upgrade by Dieselboy Song released in 1999. Mix released in 2000. Jungle / Drum n Bass / Neurofunk
***Song starts at 7:48 and ends at 10:59***
A little bio about E-Sassin and his label, Sound Sphere Recordings, can be found on his Facebook, Soundcloud, and Discogs page:
Eric Hull, a.k.a. E-Sassin, is a native of Los Angeles with a far-reaching background in many different styles of music. He began his musical journey in the late ‘70s as a drummer in progressive rock and jazz/fusion bands. After moving through the heavy metal scene of the ‘80s, E-Sassin was introduced to the electronic dance music scene in 1989 through the techno/ rave culture. Once he started producing dance music, everything fell into place and he has built a reputation as one of the top DJ/ Producers of drum and bass in America.
In 1992 E-Sassin produced and self-released a techno album, which got the attention of Sunshine Records. They approached E-Sassin to work with the groups L.A. Rave and The Movement. For a year and a half E-Sassin toured with The Movement all over the world. It was during this time that he was first exposed to jungle, which was just breaking away from the breakbeat hardcore scene. By 1996, E-Sassin had made the transition into producing only drum and bass tracks. Drum and bass music wasn’t widely accepted in the States and very few domestic labels were releasing any of it, so E-Sassin founded Sound Sphere Recordings late in ’96 to get his musical productions out to the masses. Sound Sphere was one of the pioneering labels for drum & bass in America, especially the west coast with the first two releases receiving very positive feedback and quickly establishing a high level of credibility for the label and for E-Sassin’s productions. Each subsequent release has continued to elevate Sound Sphere to new heights, which in turn has gained the label well earned respect from artists and DJs across America and throughout the rest of the world. Many of Sound Sphere Recordings’ releases have appeared on high-profile compilations both nationally and internationally.
Okay, first of all, E-Sassin’s probably had the most unique career track I’ve ever heard of. Probably no one else has ever transitioned from prog rock and jazz fusion to metal to techno to drum n bass and jungle. Super unique, to say the least.
In 2000, E-Sassin scored what was probably his biggest mix appearance when his 1999 song “Symptom” was included on the world-renowned dnb DJ Dieselboy’s System_Upgrade. Although his profile appeared to be rising with every subsequent release of his own, I think it’s safe to say that this song’s incorporation into this particular mix helped boost his profile more than anything else ever has, at least among dnb fans.
And Dieselboy picked a very good track in order to get E-Sassin some of that well-deserved exposure. “Symptom” is a viscerally primal brain masher that smacks you directly in the face with its deep and wonkily distorted, jagged bass melody as contrastingly long and thin, Hitchcockian string synths squeal from behind. And occupying the middle ground to get the body moving is the swift drum break, which sees the addition and subtraction of different sets of hats throughout, resulting in some welcomed variety.
Excellently dark and dystopian late 90s dance music out of L.A.

Kemal + Rob Data - “Konspiracy” System_Upgrade by Dieselboy 2000 Drum and Bass / Neurofunk
Kemal + Rob Data just might be the greatest drum and bass group of the early 2000s. Hailing from Glasgow, these boys began pumping out tracks together in 1998 and continued to do so at a prolific pace until 2002, racking up a total of 16 12-inches between those years. Five more were released after they broke up.
What makes Kemal + Rob Data so heralded is their pioneering of the drum and bass subgenre of neurofunk. Put simply, neurofunk is a darker, more dystopian, more subversive, futuristic brand of drum and bass. With both being highly influenced by the futuristic darkness conveyed by Detroit techno, they would apply those atmospherics to drum and bass. Their track, “Messiah,” released in 2000, was named the best drum and bass track of the decade by Knowledge Magazine.
Kemal + Rob Data were originally known as Konflict, but following a label dispute in 2000 over the release of “Messiah,” they left Renegade Hardware and were not allowed to retain their name. By February of 2000, they had changed to Kemal + Rob Data and in March had their track, “Konspiracy,” exclusively appear on Dieselboy’s legendary System_Upgrade mix, an aptly named CD that compiles a bunch of tracks that represented a coming sea change for drum and bass.
This particular track appears to put more emphases on the sounds that surround the drums and bass rather than the drums and bass themselves. At least that’s how it sounds. Beneath the surface, Kemal + Rob Data really did put a lot of thought into the dntb. It’s just that it serves more as an element of the backbeat, so the changes aren’t all that noticeable, at least initially. But the dnb parts are layered, varied, and swift, with series of rattling hi-hats, snares, and kicks.
But the sounds that complement the dnb pieces are really what drive this track and give it its neurofunk character. Kemal + Rob Data layer in some grimy Reese bass (don’t know what a Reese bass is? Here’s a track that uses it in spades.), some warped and dusty TB-303 licks, and a swooping hoover sound. Zappy synth stabs manage to creep their way in from the background to the foreground, too. The arrangement of these sounds, combined with the underlying, quick drums and bass, yields a rather wicked, subterranean kind of vibe.
Really cool early 2000s neurofunk from the duo who played a huge role in building the subgenre.
