I don’t think it makes sense to assume that Jason was mocking Mia’s past. At all. The thing that got jason painted as violent back in the 80s was his anger against rapists…how does that turn into mocking a victim? and that entire story was written by winick. Do we honestly think winick intended to communicate that? The same writer who made Jason’s first kill a man who was trafficking children? Who had Jason pause in his mission of madness to make sure those kids were found by the right people so they wouldn’t be in further danger?
#let’s knock on our skulls and kick our brains back into gear okay?#you can maintain that it wasn’t well executed or that the role mia played here bothers you#but you can’t say jason was mocking her for that or even seriously trying to hurt her physically#he was bsing like 90% of the story with his constant ‘we should all kill anyone who inconveniences us! speedy and GA should try to kill me#if they want to win’ like we understand that yes?#but that last part of his convo with Mia was the one serious part#he was wrong! of course he was wrong about ollie. but this was also Jason’s first time meeting ollie#it was ridiculous and unnecessary on his end and it put mia thru the emotional wringer for nothing#but that wasn’t the Intention. it was a stupid thing done by someone who never expected anything to come of it but still said what *to him*#was a way of offering advice#and as for the ppl who go ‘stop reaching abt jason being a victim and just read Mia instead’#a) there’s more to Mia’s character than her past. anyone who thinks that fits Jason’s past wouldn’t necessarily like mia bc they’re not the#same character#it’s the same way that if jason was confirmed to have been a victim of SA as a kid then all of Mia’s fans wouldn’t love him like they love#her? this is common sense. anyways stop being assholes online and just recommend characters too ppl nicely#b) more than one character can have experienced a similar form of abuse. also common sense#c) it’s not an unreasonable hc#d) it doesn’t hurt you personally. none of this killed your grandma#once again: hate whoever you like but choosing the interpretation that doesn’t make sense just to make up a#‘valid’ reason is serious loser behaviour

1990s Drum n Bass Playlist
Back to the Sunday night electronic playlist-posting mines for the next good while. This week I've got a little update to my 90s drum n bass playlist, with something that's very dark and something that's much, much lighter.
The dark one comes courtesy of a guy from the UK called Ambush, whose career only consisted of a couple 12-inches and an album between '96 and '98, and is not to be confused with *The Ambush,* which is an alias of German electronic music legend Oliver Lieb. Ambush made his debut with a 12-inch called Gain on Possible Records, a dark dnb label that was founded by Mick Harris, who was the former drummer in famed death metal band Napalm Death.
Taking up the A-side on Gain is a tune called "Tracking," which would later find its way onto a Possible double-disc comp called Sonics Everywhere in 1997. "Tracking" is this steadily burrowing piece of filthy subterranean grime, with this constant no-give snare hitting on every other beat while a simply demonic, distorted sub-bassline rumbles mercilessly beneath it 😈; potential theme music for the single-most evil entity in the universe. Only has ~1,100 plays on Spotify.
And for the yang to "Tracking"'s Yin, we have something pretty dang unique. UK future jazz-funk band RSL are not known for making drum n bass, but it appears that, three years prior to their debut release, they first appeared on a South African compilation in 1998 called ReRooted: Beatz From Da Ground Up, with "Elungelo." This is a song that appears to be sampling soulful traditional African folk vocals and then pairs them with beats—first, a nice and chill-grooved, bare-bones trip hop one, and then a sudden shift to dnb. And to be honest, I kinda dig the trip-hoppy portions more on this one, but if something has a considerable amount of drum n bass on it, then it automatically gets categorized as a dnb tune; those are just the rules. Around 9,100 plays.
Ambush - "Tracking" RSL - "Elungelo"
And for the YouTube version of this update, I was able to add those two songs to it too, but I also added another one that can't be found on Spotify as well. And this is another dark one, from a master of those dark dnb arts himself, Technical Itch. In '98, this Birmingham, UK native applied his craft with a remix of Manchester, UK act Perfect Combination's "Remember." Scratchy and blown-out snares, wormy bass squelching, and an occasional eerie synth to remind you where you are, which is a place that you really need to escape from, pronto 😰. This remix has appeared on a double-12-inch called Partisan Volume One, one of the first releases in the catalog of Partisan, an ultimately short-lived label that was launched after a group of staffers acrimoniously split from dnb juggernaut Moving Shadow. Song has a little over 4,800 plays on YouTube across a few different uploads.
Perfect Combination - "Remember (Technical Itch Remix)"
And this playlist is on YouTube Music too.
So this update now brings us to 13 songs that total 84 minutes on Spotify, but over on YouTube, we're now at 30 songs that total 191 minutes! There's just so much more great, obscure 90s dnb in that YouTube one, including a handful of cuts from a compilation that's not even listed on Discogs called Now What Kind of Music Do You Call That?
And if you want something shorter, I've also got a couple dnb playlists that are specific to a certain year from the 1990s:
1997 Drum n Bass: YouTube / YouTube Music 1998 Drum n Bass: YouTube / YouTube Music
Next week, some breakbeat!
Enjoy!
More to come, eventually. Stay tuned!
Like what you hear? Follow me on Spotify and YouTube for more cool playlists and uploads!

Hello! may request a Hunter D-90 x reader fluff/angst fanfiction?
Hi, sure 😊 sorry for answering a bit late
HOT COCOA
Tumblr media
Hunter D-90 x GN!reader
Summary: Your job at the TVA is to be in the offices, filing boring papers, yet whenever there is a mission they assign you along with D-90. You've never been able to get so many words out of him, but a hot chocolate machine will change things.
Warnings: none, fluff
WC: 877
A/N: This may be a bit short since he is a fairly secondary character in my opinion and he doesn't have many dialogues so it is difficult to work with it, I'm sorry 😓 (If you want to request another character from Loki series, please do 😊)
******
You were sitting in your small space near the shelves where the files were kept, your table was a mess of jumbled papers but you tried to maintain order as best as possible. To make the work more enjoyable you hummed a song while rhythmically moving your foot trying not to see the time on the wall clock every two seconds. Suddenly you heard footsteps nearby but you didn't even look up to see who it was until he was in front of you looking at you.
“How are you doing with that y/n?"
When you heard his voice you already knew who it was, you raised your head to see Mobius smiling kindly at you, he with his heart of gold always cared about the other workers and that they were not too stressed.
"I do what I can"- you sighed, trying to make a joke.
"Well, look, try not to overexert yourself, okay? You're doing well anyway, you've already completed half the work."
You accidentally looked at your table and he was right, without realizing it you had already come a long way.
"Hey, why don't you take a break or eat something? Come on, you deserve it."-He said, tapping his knuckles on the table.
"Thank you Mobius, I will take your advice"-you laughed softly
Mobius gave you a big smile as he walked away with his hands on his hips. You rubbed your eyes, yawning slightly as you stood up from the seat and stretched your muscles, sitting for so long was exhausting and painful. With a tired step you headed towards the halls of the TVA and saw D-90 standing guard as always with a face so serious that he looked like a bulldog. You stopped to greet him.
"Hello D-90, good to see you"-You waved a hand with a smile like little kids would.
He just nodded at you without even smiling. You wondered why he was always like that, he always seemed angry although that didn't mean he didn't like you. You suddenly remembered all the times you joined him on a mission, he also behaved like that.
"Ok and how's everything going huh?"-You said something uncomfortable because of his cold attitude.
He, without saying anything again, just shrugged his shoulders, making a face. Great, you thought, at that rate you won't be able to snatch a hello from him. Suddenly you turned your head and saw the machine at the end of the hallway that served drinks, you soon remembered that in a few minutes you should go back to work, maybe a coffee would be good for you to stay awake. Suddenly you remembered that you could also choose hot cocoa in the machine and an idea came to your mind.
"Hey, do you want something to drink? I'm on my rest, come on, I'll buy you something."
He frowned and opened his mouth to murmur something when you tiredly rolled your eyes and grabbed his arm, dragging him to the machine.
"Come on! Drinking something won't hurt you!"
D-90 reluctantly followed you without getting rid of his frown, he followed you with heavy steps and you had to make an effort to move him. He looked like a child refusing to go anywhere. Finally the vintage machine was in front of you, there were several options: Tea, coffee, hot cocoa and soup. You chose a strong coffee for you and a hot cocoa for him. With the glasses in both your hands, you turned to hand him his when he raised a hand and shook his head, pursing his lips.
"Please just take it, think of it as a gift from me to you."-you said with the best of your smiles
"It's just…"-he started talking and you were surprised because he finally said something.
"I've never tried hot cocoa"
He said it almost embarrassed and you opened your mouth and eyes in great surprise and the coffee almost fell out of your hands. Have you never tried hot cocoa? What did this man feed on then?! You shook your head trying to downplay it and without adding anything you handed him his glass, he looked at it and smelled it and then looked at you with a raised eyebrow, you just closed your eyes and nodded.
He slowly approached his lips to the glass overflowing with the sweet liquid and when he finished tasting it he looked at you, opening his eyes wide, it seemed that his serious and grumpy facade had completely fallen, he had liked the cocoa! You clapped happily, resting your glass on the machine for a moment and for the first time he smiled with a smile as genuine and tender as a child in a toy store, you had never seen him like that.
Smiling you took your glass and walked down the hallway heading to another place to tour the TVA while you rested when his voice made you turn around.
"Thanks for the drink."
He continued smiling happily and you smiled back tenderly.
"My pleasure"
You left there, leaving a D-90 very different from when you had seen him when you got there, one who drank his cocoa as if there were no worries in the world or the sacred timeline.

I think the Time Squad might officially be my favorite MCU team. Like. Topping even the 2012 Avengers team, who've been my favorite since that movie came out. So, y'know, that's saying something.

"SEE, THIS AIN'T AMERICA'S MOST WANTED, THIS IS AMERICA'S MOST MACKIN'!"
PIC(S) INFO: Mega spotlight on American hip-hop group, BEASTIE BOYS, walking down Franklin Ave., Los Angeles (Hollywood), CA, from the B. Boys' "Check Your Head" photo-session, c. 1991. 📸: Glen E. Friedman.
OVERVIEW: "We met up by the Capitol Records building and eventually ended up in a beach parking lot in Santa Monica. Same lot you would have parked in if you had a car and were going to Arthur Lake's parents home in ‘76 to skate their pool. Pictures from this day ended up on the cover of "CHECK YOUR HEAD" and on various other merchandise the boys put out.
This is one of my FAVORITES from the day.
Hearing this album in the studio with them for the first time while they were working on the sequencing is what inspired me to ask them to do the photo session. They already had the LP cover done I was told, but that was fine by me, once I faxed them some of these they changed direction and threw a Fax on the cover of the LP. On the cassette and later CD they used the actual photograph. Inspired, conquered. Great day, amazing work. They also met AWOL for the first time this day, since i asked him if he'd mind hauling us around in his van and hang out."

Today's mix:
99.2 by Timecode / Aquasky 1999 Drum n Bass
Man, I legitimately have no idea why some of these releases from UK dnb juggernaut label Moving Shadow's 'year-decimal' series are rated so poorly on Discogs. Usually when something has an average rating that's below 4 out of 5, it has noticeable flaws, but this sampler mix from MS head honcho Rob Playford—operating here under his DJ-mixing alias of Timecode—is an excellently steady clinic in fun, turn-of-the-millennium dnb bounciness. And the release that preceded this one, 99.1, which also has a sub-4 rating, is one of the greatest dnb mixes that I've ever heard in my life! So, like, what the hell is wrong with you people?!
And you couldn't beat this deal when this thing dropped, either. £1.99 for this disc, a bonus disc with an exclusive 20-plus minute mix of Omni Trio tunes done by the great trio of Aquasky, and CD-ROM freebies that included snippets of Aquasky remixes in WAV format, promotional videos for some Rockstar Games titles, and a playable demo of Grand Theft Auto 2 as well! They were practically giving this shit away for free!
So we've got a full, chugging, 65-minute workout here with a slate of bangers delivered by Moving Shadow's top talents: Dom & Roland, Calyx, E-Z Rollers, TeeBee, Aquasky, Omni Trio, Technical Itch, and more. But nothing here seems to hit as nicely as the moment when Playford transitions between E-Z Rollers' "RS2000" and 60 Minute Man's "Brand Nu Day." "Brand Nu Day" as a standalone track opens up with this terrific sax line, and to then hear it uniquely played alongside the fuzzy bass groove of "RS2000" just really unlocks something special 🥹.
So don't listen to all the haters and overlook this one. If you want a trip back to those lovely y2k days when music CDs also came with bonus CD-ROM content, this promo mix from Moving Shadow boss Rob Playford is terrific. And I dunno how long the GTA2 demo is on here, but I'm willing to bet that if you fired up the bonus CD in your PC, and then put the main one in your stereo, you were probably in for a good time, because the type of drum n bass that's on here really does feel like the perfect, adrenaline-fueled soundtrack for boosting some cars and wreaking havoc 😎.
Listen to CD1 here. Listen to CD2 here.
