Events we know happened in The Sunshine Court:

Some time while Kevin was still in the Nest, he made Jean promise not to kill himself—there’s also been an implication that it was after Jean was punished for looking at Kevin

Neil gets waterboarded over Christmas break and almost killed by Riko but Jean begs Riko to stop, thus saving Neil’s life.

After Neil leaves, Zane stops protecting Jean from Grayson.

In the following January, Something Happened and the only glimpse we get is that Grayson was beat to a pulp.

i keep thinking about jean’s POV of riko going to hit neil.

in aftg, neil is so focused on riko coming down with his racket to hit him that it seems like andrew comes out of no where to save him but i love that jean sees it. and it’s not like he just moves out of goal or anything, no, he HAULS ASS to get to neil to save him. that to me says everything. i love them so bad

cannot stop thinking about how, from jean’s pov, neil is a Creature. an insane little man. jean expresses physical attraction or at least physical appreciation towards many of the characters in this book, and despite the foxes’ insistence that neil is good looking, to jean neil is always just… a weird and slightly unsettling presence. a strange and arrogant creature with no leash on him. an uncanny force of nature.

Neil makes SCRAPS of appearances in tsc but he serves cunt and leaves. Absolute legend. I get now why Jean was at his wits end with this guy. He orders drinks and food, makes fucking fbi agents WAIT for him then sits in an INTERROGATION and eats take out as if it's just another day for him. Jean probably got 20 separate heart attacks because of this man and then this gremlin goes ahead and orders a hit on the behalf of a man he knew only in pain while sitting in a very public diner and waiting on fbi agents to show up and drag them away.

Neil Fucking Josten, Andrew has his hands full. Never a dull day with him.
