Renee Walker & Jean Moreau Dynamic

No matter what they end up as, the relationship between Renee and Jean, either platonic or romantic, is always going to be one of my favorites.

Its one of the ships that I don't exactly find myself yearning to see get together, one that feels precious as long as that connection exists.

Renee gave Jean a phone number, Jean felt safe enough to contact her and she managed to make that broken boy keep writing to him too. Jean thanked her, for what we don't know, but he was ready.

He knew that he probably wouldn't make it, he expected to die that day, alone and bleeding on the floor and he didn't want to die without telling her 'thank you'. He had to let her know just how much it meant to him.

That mere thank you reminded her of Neil Josten and how the butcher had come too close to tearing him from them, and now it was the same once again, just a different person.

Renee told him, without using much words, that he would make it. She was maybe the first one to act on it too and try to save him.

And she succeeded.

Maybe they won't end together, but it's never going to change the fact that she had probably been the first ray of sunshine he had been exposed to in a long time during the time that he had been stuck in the Nest.

He might have to relearn everything he had known till now, might have to struggle more than he had till now (just in a different way) and he might have to do it alone as he learns what it means to love himself.

It's never going to change the fact that she pulled him out of that hellhole and gave him a chance to save himself.

Showed him a glimpse of hope, and he took it.

This is me thinking about Elodie Moreau suddenly not having her brother there to mend her dresses and read her stories. Jean probably tucked her into bed at night and got her up in the mornings. Clumsily made them breakfast and walked her to school. When his parents sold him they sold the only parent she’d ever known.

Renee giving Jean her necklace is like giving him her faith. They cant talk much anymore, and she can't be there to support him all the time, so since Jean doesn't believe in miracles and stuff she had to give him some faith; her necklace - which she always reached for when she needed faith.
