Kyla Pratt Is Ready To Take Over TV...Again
Tumblr media
Kyla Pratt Is Ready To Take Over TV...Again Between the late 90s and 2000s, you couldn’t turn on your tv without seeing, or hearing the voice of Black America’s sweetheart, Kyla Pratt. Recently, the 35 year old actress discussed the impact she’s had on Black culture. She talked the reprisal of her role as Penny Proud in the new Proud Family reboot. “My mom is an actress, so I enjoyed watching her work, and I wanted to be like Mommy,” she said about her beginnings in the industry.
“And literally everything I auditioned for, I was that young girl, I would let you know if something was too grown for me.”
Pratt began her acting career shooting commercials for brands like Nike. We later saw the young starlet in one of her first film roles in Dr. Doolittle, and as the tween version of Monica Wright, the Love and Basketball lead depicted by Sanaa Lathan. Ask any Black millennial woman you know- they’ll recall Kyla Pratt as the "it" girl taking over for the 99 and the 2000s. Her characters in shows like One on One go down in Back girl history for the fashion alone. And let us not forget her first ever voice over role as Penny Proud in one of the highest viewed Black led animated shows of all time, “The Proud Family.” This month, Pratt happily reprises her role as the spunky teen in the show’s reboot, “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder”
“I’m just so excited that a newer generation also gets to enjoy what we had back in the day,” she said.
“And then also we can go back and go back to that space of being 10, 11, 12, and take us to that area where we were first watching it.” Many tv fans have been left yawning at the thought of another 2000s era reboot. Pratt says that she never had that fear about the new Disney+ version of the classic show. “I think knowing the situations that we had, and the story lines that we had, and the people that we have working on the project, I never felt that way. I felt like they were about to kill it in every single way,” she said.
Many of Pratt’s Proud Family co-stars have returned to reprise their roles as well.
Fans can look forward to hearing the familiar voices of Tommy Davidson, Paula Jai Parker, Jo Marie Payton and Karen Malina White also. Additionally, a few new, yet familiar voices will join the cast including Keke Palmer, EJ Johnson, and Lizzo.  Catch “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder” on Disney+ beginning February 23rd. Zendaya & Labrinth Wrote Song in "Euphoria" Season 2 Finale
Tumblr media
Zendaya & Labrinth Wrote Dominic Fike's Song in "Euphoria" Season 2 Finale Recently, we caught a glimpse of Zendaya and Labrinth working in a recording studio for the Euphoria soundtrack. We just didn't know what they'd be cooking up. They created the musical masterpiece, "All for Us" for the season 1 finale of the HBO show. It totally makes sense that they'd create more magic for season 2. Labrinth made a cameo during the funeral scene in episode 4 to perform "I'm Tired" — another Zendaya collaboration that's available to listen to in streaming platforms — we were left wondering what else he might have in store for the season 2 soundtrack. Musician Dominic Fike also joined Euphoria as Rue and Jules' new friend. Elliot, so we were bound to receive a song or two since his character also has musical talents.
In the season 2 finale, Elliot played a song called "Little Star" for Rue on his guitar. It turns out that Zendaya and Labrinth were the writers behind it IRL.
In a featurette following the season 2 finale, Labrinth opened up about the creative process behind "Little Star." Discussing what it was like working with Z and Dominic. "Me and Zendaya were actually sitting in each other's spiritual energy and space. We're getting to inspire each other to make something fresh," Labrinth said. "Sam just came up to me and said 'Yo, I was thinking you like, play the guitar in this and you sing a song. It's to Rue, but not really about Rue. But it is about Rue, but it's a surreal moment, but it's not,'" Dominic explained in the featurette. Labrinth added that Dominic played guitar on some of the musical scores he had been working on for the show. "The cast are not just acting, they're part of the music now," he said. "And I think that makes it even more special." Read the full article

Kadeem Hardison Wants ‘A Different World’ Rights
Tumblr media
Kadeem Hardison Wants ‘A Different World’ Rights From Cosby To Reboot Iconic Series “A Different World” alum Kadeem Hardison wants to get the rights to the iconic series he starred in, but everyone isn’t here for it. In an era of reboots, why not a reimagining of the classic hit sitcom, “A Different World?” In 1987, one of TV’s most influential shows premiered. “A Different World” was a spin-off from Bill Cosby’s popular sitcom “The Cosby Show” The show aired for seven seasons, from 1987 through 1993, and highlighted the lives and relationships of Black college students - something that had never been done before. And, let's face it, it was the driving force in many of us wanting to go to college.
The show put Black people on television being themselves unapologetically, while simultaneously influencing young, black students to attend college. The sitcom was set on the campus of the fictional historically black Hillman College.
Actor Kadeem Hardison played lead character Dwayne Wayne - who was known for his flip up eyeglasses/shades and his off-and-on relationship with Whitley Gilbert-Wayne (played by Jasmine Guy). That wedding scene with Byron getting left at the altar will FOREVER be iconic. During an interview on the “Allison Interviews” podcast, Kadeem spilled some tea about a possible “Different World” reboot. Apparently, Kadeem has been trying to gain the rights to the series, but everyone isn’t here for a reboot.
”We have been trying to get the rights so we can reboot it for about ten or so years and the owners (Carsey-Werner in association with Bill Cosby) aren’t ready,” he shared.
”Everybody on the on-camera side is ready.  They are thinking, 'Yeah, they are rebooting everything. We should have some kind of version of it.' It’s what I think the kids need today.  It was good enough then. We won’t be able to catch that lighting in a bottle that we did then, but we definitely can reimagine the show in a way so that it is relevant, and it’s about the kids and school, and we can get that same fire lit under kids to inspire them to be something else." If they can reimage the series like Will Smith did with “Bel-Air,” then we could see the reboot taking off. The core storylines of the show are still relevant today. Late rapper Tupac guest-starred on the show in 1993 and Kadeem revealed he was jealous. Pac’s guest role played Jada Pinkett-Smith’s love interest. It was the first time Tupac and Jada (who were friends) starred opposite of each other. https://www.youtube.com/embed/4qxvL64XPBg “It was fantastic. They had a seamless chemistry,” he said. “How do you direct De Niro and Pacino? You just kind of stand back and let them go. You hope that the cameras are in focus,” he explained. “I didn’t really have to tell him much. I didn’t have to tell her hardly anything. It was a joy to watch. It was probably the easiest directing job.”
After he “tweaked” the fight scene, everything fell into place.
”The fight scene we had to tweak a little bit.  We had to work on it, because it was a fight between Jada’s character’s current boyfriend and Pac’s character.  So, we had to spend some time working that out, but once I said ‘Action,’ it took on a life of its own. It felt like a real fight. It felt like a real brawl, and that was Pac.  That was him going in, like, ‘I’m going to whoop this sucker.’ It was awesome to direct the two of them.  They were good buds and I kept asking her, ‘Is he going to show up? Because I have lots of rapper friends and I knew that time is not their friend?  She said, ‘Yes, he’s coming. He’s on his way.’” “I always felt like I loved Tupac as a rapper, but I was jealous of him as an actor, because I just thought he had such range. He could touch places that I didn’t know if I could go. I just wanted to watch.  But it wasn’t Macbeth, you know what I mean?  He’s playing the neighborhood cat that comes in full of bravado to claim the girl he thinks is his. He was like, ‘Yeah, I can do that.’  (laugh). was playing the girl who was trying to get away from that life. There were no real notes for them. There was no reason to say, ‘Hey try it like this.’ Everything they did was magic.” And there you have it. We love a good behind-the-scenes story. You can watch the full interview below: https://www.youtube.com/embed/EtvG9mBJJO4 While it doesn't seem like fans will get "A Different World" reboot anytime soon, would you be here for one if they were to get the greenlight? 'ATLANTA' Season 4 Will Be The Last
Tumblr media
'ATLANTA' Season 4 Will Be The Last  After first airing in September of 2016, Atlanta is finally reaching its conclusion. FX CEO John Landgraf revealed that Donald Glover’s Emmy-winning series’ fourth season will be its last. Atlanta’s highly anticipated third season will premiere on Hulu and FX on Tuesday, March 24, 2022. “The new season is everything you’ve come to expect from Atlanta,” Landgraf told reporters on Thursday. With the second season having aired way back in 2018, viewers have had a long time to prepare for the surrealist comedy’s latest installment. On Thursday, Glover promised viewers that the third season was, in fact, written in 2019 before the pandemic, which he says might be hard to believe given how much the season seems to predict about the current state of the world. “It’s so frustrating. I’m gonna try and get FX to put a disclaimer before ,” Glover joked during an FX/Television Critics Association’s panel on Thursday. “It’s like we wrote all of this in 2019. A lot of this stuff is gonna seem like a parody of stuff that happened, but we actually prophesied most of the s— in 2020. The world is extremely predictable. We really just knew how a lot of this stuff was gonna pan out.” Glover also jokingly told reporters, “To be honest, I kind of wanted it to end after season two.” Glover departed his overall deal with FX last year in favor of a new contract with Amazon, adding more context to the show’s ending.
Glover, however, said the new Amazon deal wasn’t the reason for the series’ conclusion. “When the conditions are right for something to happen, it happens, and when they’re not, it doesn’t. The story was always supposed to be what it was.”
Glover will reprise his role as Earn Marks, as will Lakeith Stanfield as Darius, Brian Tyree Henry as Alfred “Paper Boi” Miles, and Zazie Beetz  as Van. The series will reportedly take place primarily in Europe for Paper Boi’s tour. Both seasons three and four have already been filmed, and season four will be released later this fall. Atlanta has won two Emmys, both for Glover — one for lead actor in a comedy, and one for best direction, which was the first directing win for a Black director of a comedy series. Glover is already working on an adaptation of Mr. and Mrs. Smith for Amazon, which is expected to debut sometime in 2022. He’s also working on the music series Hive, which counts  Malia Obama as a writer. watch trailer below: https://www.youtube.com/embed/Gq9slWovcCc Read the full article
