Chapter 4/4
The door shuts behind TK and he instantly finds himself pressed against it. He lets out a moan that’s immediately swallowed by Carlos pressing his lips against TK’s. He’s not sure how they came to this point because he was pretty sure that Carlos wasn’t going to do anything with him but he’s definitely not going to complain about it.
He drops his hands to Carlos’ waist and pulls him in close so that the other man can feel him growing harder. TK moans again when he feels that Carlos is equally as hard.
“Do you want this?” Carlos asks, licking into TK’s mouth before he has a moment to answer. He kisses him deeply, grinding his hips against TK’s a couple of times before he pulls away.
“It’s all I’ve wanted for days, Carlos,” TK groans, slipping his hand under Carlos’ shirt. “I’ve been so close to begging you to let me suck your dick.”
“Close, hm? Might have to make you do that, you’d look pretty on your knees, begging me for it.”

Trying my hand at writing some drabbles for this event by @tarlosweeklyprompts, it's been a while since I've written for Tarlos, so bear with me!
Event: 12 Days of Tarlos
Day 2: Christmas Tree Shopping
Rating/Length: Teen, ~500 words
Drabble is below the cut - enjoy!
“Remind me why we’re doing this again?” TK grunted, wishing he could wipe the sweat off his forehead, but didn’t want to lose his tenuous grip on the tree.  Carlos was doing most of the heavy lifting at the bottom of the tree, dragging it through the snow drifts, while TK was stumbling along trying to help, but wasn’t sure if his help was more of a hindrance at this point.
Carlos turned, his eyes staring at TK.  “Because someone said they dreamed of picking out a Christmas tree, because someone wanted the ‘full winter experience’,” he emphasized in finger quotes, TK wincing at the thump the tree made as it fell to the ground, “and that someone was you, babe.”
Although TK was faced with the prospect of having to pick the tree up, again, he couldn’t help but smile at Carlos’s use of the word babe.  Because although Carlos may be a bit annoyed at him, he couldn’t be too annoyed or else he would have called him Tyler.
“Okay, okay, so maybe I misunderstood how much work this would be,” TK said, peering down at the tree and then looking off into the distance at the truck they had rented.
“We still have to hoist it into the truck, bring it back into the cabin, and then decorate it too,” Carlos added, moving to stand next to TK.
“There was a holiday store back near town, right?” TK asked, looking sideways at his partner.  He really, really had wanted to make this work.  He always thought that cutting down a tree in the middle of gently falling snow looked super romantic, but in reality, it was a lot of hard work.  Plus, he was cold, and tired, and so was Carlos.  And TK was really hoping to put that nice rug in front of the fireplace back in their cabin to good use that night.
“Yeah…” Carlos replied, looking curiously back at TK.
“Let’s go buy a small tree then, and a handful of decorations.  That way we can spend more time in the cabin -”
TK was cut off by Carlos’s lips against his, the warmth a welcome break from the cold, winter wind.  TK pushed back into the kiss, his tongue pressing up against Carlos’s, his hands sliding down to grip Carlos’s hips tightly.
Lost in the mix of sensations, the snowflakes landing on his face, the heat of Carlos’s body, he was startled when Carlos pulled back, letting out an embarrassing whimper as he tried to chase his lips but was stopped by Carlos’s firm hand on his chest.
“Maybe we can just go to the cabin,” Carlos suggested, his breathing sounding a bit strained.
TK simply nodded, grabbing Carlos’s hand tightly as they dashed back towards the truck, with newfound energy.
And if they didn’t make it back to the cabin until round 2…well, that was fine too.

Baking Memories
Just a little ficlet for the @tarlosweeklyprompts advent calendar. I’m a couple days late, this was for the 16th, Baking Holiday Cookies Together. @noxsoulmate, thank you for the beta! 😘
Tumblr media
“Stop!” Carlos hisses. TK playfully rolls his eyes but makes his way to the sink to wash his hands instead of licking the cookie dough off his fingers. “I can’t tell her not to eat the dough if you’re gonna do it right in front of her.”
They both watch as she reaches into the mixing bowl and scoops out some dough and pops it into her mouth. Carlos gives TK a look as he swoops in.
“You can’t eat the raw dough, Princess,” Carlos says. “Come wash your hands and I’ll get you one off the rack.” She meets TK at the sink, and side-by-side, they wash their hands.
“Cookie, please!” she demands. When Carlos hands her one off the cooling rack, her eyes light up when she sees it’s one of the gingerbread cookies she decorated. “Why did we make so many cookies, anyway?” she asks, biting the head off the cookie.
“We are going to a party tonight,” TK says. He picks Mari up and settles her on his hip while they watch Carlos fill two large trays with cookies. “We are taking those cookies to Aunt Grace and Uncle Judd’s.”
“All of them?”
“No,” TK says. “But we’re going to take a few dozen.”
“Is everyone bringing cookies?” she asks. She finishes her cookie and TK is quick to grab a napkin and wipe her hands before she can smear frosting on either of their shirts.
“Yes, everyone is bringing cookies. Some people are going to take our cookies home, and we’ll bring home different ones.”
“Peanut butter ones?”
“Maybe. But if no one brings peanut butter ones, I bet your dad will make some with you, okay?”
“Okay.” Mari kicks to be let down, and TK sets her on the counter right next to the mixing bowl. “Can I have another?”
“Not right now,” TK pulls a few more ingredients out of the cabinet. “We have one more batch to make.”
“Are we taking these?”
“No,” TK says. “These are just for us.” His voice cracks a little, and Carlos pauses behind him, pressing a hand to the small of his back.
“You going to be okay?” Carlos whispers. “You don’t have to make these today.”
“Yeah. Yeah, I’m good.” TK swallows hard and turns to his daughter. “I used to make these with my mom,” he explains. “And now, it’s time for me to teach you how to make them. And when you’re older, you get to teach someone very special how to make them.”
“But what if I don’t remember?”
Carlos laughs. “That’s what recipes are for, silly girl.” He reaches into TK’s back pocket and pulls out an old, faded recipe card, in a plastic sleeve, written in Gwyn’s precise handwriting. “You hold onto this, Princess.” Carlos presses a kiss to the top of her head and one to TK’s cheek. “I’m gonna go wrap a couple more presents while you two finish these up, okay?”
“Stay. Please,” TK says. “It’s a family recipe, and you should be here to help.” He reaches for Carlos’ hand, and Carlos squeezes it.
“Alright! Let’s get started.”
TK knows how to make the cookies by heart, but he waits, adding ingredients one by one, as Carlos patiently teaches Mari how to read the recipe. He measures the important ones and cracks the eggs himself to ensure the cookies will come out properly, but when it comes to the extras, he gives Carlos and Mari free reign.
Mari laughs as she dumps in tons of chocolate chips and only a little coconut. Carlos swipes the bag and sprinkles in a little more. Carlos and Mari each add a handful of candied pecans, walnuts, and pretzel pieces, but save the toffee, TK’s favorite, for him to add.
The three of them roll messy balls of dough onto the baking sheets and TK places them into the preheated oven and sets the timer.
Mari loses interest in waiting and disappears into the living room, but TK distracts himself by helping Carlos clean up the kitchen and by the time the timer dings, the kitchen is clean, with the exception of dishes in the sink.
TK loads the dishwasher while Carlos pulls the pans out and sets the cookies on the cooling rack. When TK deems them cool enough, he takes the cookies while Carlos grabs the napkins, and they join Mari on the sofa.
“Are they good?” Mari asks.
“Try it and find out,” TK says. He watches while Mari takes a bite and her eyes light up.
“They’re so good!” she exclaims.
“They’re the best cookies in the world,” TK agrees.

Christmas Tree Farm
TWP 12 Days of Tarlos @tarlosweeklyprompts
Dec. 13: Christmas Tree Shopping
Read on ao3 here
Winter in Austin was a different kind of cold. TK was used to snow and ice, all of the things that came with winter in the North. This was a different kind of cold. This cold seeped through his layers of a hoodie and coat, chilling him to the bone. He pressed a little closer to Carlos, wrapping his chilled hands around his bicep as they walked through the Christmas market set up downtown.
“Are you cold babe?” Carlos asked.
“A little,” TK admitted, breath clouding around his face as he spoke.
“I’m getting you a better jacket for Christmas. I don’t like you being cold.”
“I don’t like it either.”
“We can go home if you want. We can do this on a day that’s less cold.”
“Nope. We promised Noah we’d have a Christmas tree when we got home and I will not disappoint him.”
“He’s two, baby. I promise he won’t know the difference if we have a tree today or next week.”
“No, but I will. This is his first Christmas with us and I want it to be perfect. So let’s go get our kid a Christmas tree.”
Carlos rolled his eyes at his husband’s antics and pulled him closer as they walked. They stopped at a few of the stands along the way, browsing for gifts for Andrea and some of their friends. TK found a handmade ornament of Captain America’s shield that he knew Mateo would love and a handmade vegan candle for Owen. They bought hot chocolate from one of the stands, and even though TK said it didn’t measure up to the Reyes family recipe they both held the styrofoam cups tightly, letting the heat seep into their cold fingers.
Carlos was distracted for a while by a stand with handmade wooden children's toys and ended up buying a farm animal puzzle and a set of stacking blocks for Noah even though he had told TK two days before that he had far too many presents already.
After almost two hours of mindless browsing and the purchase of one too many presents for all of the people in their lives, they finally made it for what they came for, their tree. The lot was full of them, despite it being only a few weeks before Christmas.
“Can I help you guys?” an older gentleman approached them, a name tag that read ‘Steve’ attached to his shirt.
“We’re here for a tree,” Carlos answered.
“Perfect, that’s our specialty. How big of a tree are you looking for?”
“Our ceilings are about nine feet tall.”
“I’d recommend around an eight-foot tree, just to have a little bit of clearance between it and your ceiling. All of the eight-foot trees are on that side,” he pointed to a section to their right. “Let me know when you’ve found something and we’ll get it for you.”
“Thank you.”
They walked around the section of trees for a few minutes, ducking in between rows. The trees were enormous and TK could already imagine Noah’s little hands yanking the ornaments off the bottom branches.
“Babe, come here,” Carlos called from another row.
TK moved toward his voice until he met him in front of a tree, full and the brightest green TK had ever seen.
“What do you think?”
“I think it’s perfect, babe.”
Twenty minutes later, the tree was loaded into the back of the truck and tied down with straps to keep it secure. TK had checked it twice, having responded to one too many Christmas tree-related accidents in the past week. (Okay it was two, but his point still stood).
It took both of them to maneuver the tree into the house, glad that Judd and Grace had taken Noah for the day. Dancing around a toddler while they attempted to get everything set up would have been a nightmare.
TK called Judd, letting him know it was safe to bring Noah back, as Carlos went to the garage to drag out the decorations.
“Daddy!” Noah squealed as Judd opened the door, waddling across the room as fast as his little legs would carry him and straight into TK’s arms.
“Hi, bubba! Did you have fun with Uncle Judd?”
Noah nodded and leaned his head against TK’s shoulder, “Papa?”
“I’m right here buddy,” Carlos answered, putting down the box of ornaments he was holding in order to kiss his son.
“He just had lunch about an hour ago,” Judd said, handing off Noah’s backpack. “He’s probably gonna be ready for a nap. He and Charlie haven’t stopped playing around all day.”
“I figured. He’s about to pass out right here,” TK chuckled. “I’m gonna go put him down for a nap.”
“Thanks for watching him today Judd,” Carlos said, walking the other man to the door.
“It’s no problem. I’ll see y’all later.”
While Noah was down for his nap, TK and Carlos began decorating. Everything they owned by way of Christmas decorations was a mix of what they’d owned before they moved in together and some things they bought for themselves along the way.
TK teared up slightly as he pulled his mom’s menorah from the box. He sat it gently on the table using a cloth to carefully swipe a bit of dust from the metal surface. Carlos abandoned his task and wrapped his arms around his waist.
“I wish she was here,” TK whispered.
“I know you do baby. But she is, in a way. She’s always here, looking out for you. And she’d be so proud of the man and father that you are Tyler.”
“It’s just hard, doing this without her. I want Jonah to have holidays with his mom and Noah to have them with his grandma.”
“Then they’re lucky to have you,” Carlos kissed his temple. “You are going to give them holidays they won’t ever forget. I promise.”
TK nodded and turned around to kiss him over his shoulder.
“Let’s finish getting this tree up before the little monster wakes up.”
They were putting the finishing touches on just as Noah’s calls for them rang out from the baby monitor. Carlos retrieved him, placing a gentle hand over his eyes and he carried him into the living room.
Seeing his face light up as he looked up at the tree almost brought them both to tears. They took about a million pictures, letting Noah explore, playing with plastic ornaments, and feeling the texture of the branches on his hands. The fun was cut short by a mild meltdown when they had to explain to Noah that the presents under the tree were his, but he couldn’t open them yet. Luckily it was solved fairly easily with a snack as Carlos began working on dinner for the three of them.
The collective puppy eyes of his husband and son convinced Carlos to allow them to eat in the living room while watching The Polar Express. Noah fell asleep again, curled up on the cushions between them, stuffed bunny tucked under his chin. They let him rest there, the movie still playing as they relaxed together.
“We should probably put him to bed,” TK whispered as the credits began to roll.
“Nah, let him sleep here for a little longer.”
Carlos ran a hand through his son’s hair, marveling at his tiny human for a little while. Every day, he couldn’t believe how lucky he and TK were that they got to be his parents.
“What are you thinking about over there?”
“How lucky we are. We have a perfect kid TK.”
“Yeah, we do.”
Eventually, they decided that their bed on the couch wasn’t conducive to a good night’s sleep. They took Noah to his bed, tucking him in with his blanket and his bunny. They stood over him for a minute, watching him in a way that would be creepy if they weren’t his parents.
“I love him.”
“Me too,” Carlos whispered.
“We’re gonna give him the best Christmas ever right?”
“Absolutely.”

Chapter 12
Day 23 - I wouldn't change a thing
"Don't you ever regret it?"
Carlos dropped the book he was reading onto his lap and turned to TK.
The paramedic had just gotten out of the shower, he was dressed, only in his jeans and his hair was still wet. He was walking towards him looking at him as if he was hypnotized and as if he had too much on his mind.
"You're going to catch a cold, finish getting dressed." Carlos replied, he put the book aside and jumped over the back of the couch to get to TK. "And you need to dry your hair better, need I remind you what the doctor said at your last checkup. You still have too low a body temperature, a blast of air or some cold water can end in pneumonia."
"Don't be exaggerated. It's not that cold."
Carlos picked up his cell phone and showed his the temperature. "It's eight degrees outside."
"But we have the heater on." TK ran his hand through his hair and shook it out. "Besides, I've only got it damp, it'll dry in no time.
Carlos murdered him with his eyes, put both hands on his waist and pushed him back in the bathroom. TK odaiba to dry his hair, because he said, using the same tone as his father, that the heat from the dryer burned his hair and also made him start sweating.
So Carlos took a towel and made him sit on the edge of the bathtub. He rubbed his hair with the towel and then made him lift his face to look him in the eyes.
"You've already given me the scare of my life because of the cold, once. I almost lost you for not saying you were freezing to death. I have no intention of going through the same thing again, not because of some stupid cold you can catch at home by not drying yourself properly."
It had been almost a year since the accident on the ice. They had gotten back together almost immediately, though they both knew they had a lot to talk about. As TK was recovering, they had plenty of time to talk about their feelings and what had led to their breakup. For once, lying in a hospital bed and given that it took several days for his legs to become functional again and allow him to stand up, Carlos and he had time to be honest.
Carlos wasn't going to let him get away, not after seeing TK's death so close. But he needed some assurance that his boyfriend wouldn't bolt at the next obstacle in front of them.

Chapter 3/4
“So how come you’re not doing anything for Christmas?” Carlos asks TK. They’re back in Texas and hanging out together. They both have nothing to do and have some time before Carlos’ family Christmas activities.
“I’m Jewish, I don’t really celebrate Christmas,” TK says. “I take part in it with friends sometimes, but I don’t really set aside the time to celebrate it. It’s not an important day for me.”
“Oh, do you… I’m not taking you from any Jewish celebrations, am I? I don’t want to take you away from something that’s important to you just so that you can pretend to be my fake boyfriend.”
TK shrugs. “It’s usually just me so I don’t really do anything big. Dad usually works on Christmas anyway to get others the day off so I just usually spend it by myself. This gives me an excuse to do something.”
“Are you sure?”
TK reaches over and squeezes Carlos’ hand. “Yes, I’m sure. I wouldn’t have said yes if I wasn’t.”
Carlos nods, visibly relaxing. “You can back out anytime, even when we’re there. I know my family can be intense, especially with how big it is.”
“I’m sure I can handle them.” TK shifts on the sofa, turning so that he’s facing Carlos with his leg tucked under him. “Can I ask why you haven’t brought anyone home to them in a while?”
Carlos sits there for a moment, not saying anything and TK fears that he might have overstepped in asking the question. For as open as TK has been with Carlos, Carlos hasn’t been as open to him, and TK is starting to see that Carlos tends to hide behind his sassy remarks and keeps a mask up. It’s easy for him to spot when someone is hiding behind a persona when TK himself does it as well at times.
TK waits patiently, not wanting to push or make Carlos feel like he has to talk about the reasons why he’s seemingly avoided bringing people home and doesn’t spend too much of the Christmas holiday with his family even though he’s a big family guy.
“My family has always been supportive in a ‘we don’t talk about it’-kind of way,” Carlos starts. “I’ve been out to them since I was 17 but it’s kind of an open secret. They know but they don’t ask and for a while that was fine. I learned to be okay with my parents not asking me about who I’m seeing while they interrogated my sisters at the dinner table. It wasn’t an ideal situation and really didn’t help me come to terms with my sexuality - I struggled with it when I was a teenager. But, they’re traditional people and they had never expected their only son to be gay.”
Carlos looks at his hands, sighing softly.

---
Chapter 1 / 4
TK could have just said no.
He should have said no.
He should have just told his mother that he wasn’t bringing anyone home for the holidays and that he was once again going to show up single and alone to her work’s Christmas Party when she asked.
Instead, he had happily told her that he was going to bring someone back home and that he really hoped she’d like him. He had spent at least half an hour excitedly talking about his boyfriend to her and getting hers - and his - hopes up that this would be the year he had someone on his arm that he could show off.
But then, when he told his boyfriend about the work party and asked him about going - yes he asked a bit later than he should have - things got awkward and David told him he didn’t feel like they were “in the place to meet parents” and that this was just a “casual” thing and he didn’t see it “lasting very long after the new year.”
Needless to say, after that conversation TK very quickly ended things with him and bitterly packed up the few things he had kept at David’s apartment.
Now he’s in his apartment, pacing around the small living room as he tries to figure out just who he’s going to bring to his mother’s annual work party. Of course, he could just call her and tell her that something had come up and he wasn’t going to bring someone after all, but he knows that she’ll ask for details, and any lie that he would tell her she would see through and he just doesn’t want to tell her that he’s broken up with another person.
So the only logical solution is to find someone to pretend to be his boyfriend. Just long enough to get through all of the holiday bullshit and not have his family ask him questions about when he was going to find someone and settle down. The only problem with his brilliant plan is that he doesn’t know anyone that he could ask to pretend to be his boyfriend.

For: @tarlosweeklyprompts 12 Days of Tarlos, Day One: Enjoying Hot Chocolate Together | Warnings / Tags: Fluff, Slight Angst, Tarlos as Dad's, Snow, family, hurt and comfort, soft vibes
Authors Note: I am so excited about this event and hope to write a few fics for it! It's going to be so much fun! This fic was 100% inspired by the airplane window video that Rafa posted the other day. Rafael Silva is my forever muse and I adore him. If he ever sees this fic, I hope he doesn't because I would die but apparently he's interested in reading tarlos fan fiction, i hope he enjoys it. 🤣
--
Fat, cotton ball snowflakes fall quickly from the sky and settle into Carlos’ loose curls, peppering his hair with white dots that melt and make his hair damp. It only encourages his hair to be messy as he shoves anxious fingers through the tangled strands.
This isn’t how his day was supposed to go. He isn’t supposed to be thousands of miles still away from his husband and daughters. He shouldn’t be standing outside of the New Jersey Airport, bags by his side and waiting for a taxi to take him to a hotel room that the airport booked for him when they told him that all flights had been canceled due to the snow storm.
He sniffles quietly, telling himself that the sniffles are just from the cold, not from the tears that were gathering at the corner of his eyes and waiting to fall.
Soon a taxi drives up and the driver helps him put his bags in the car's trunk before he climbs into the back seat. He tells the driver where he’s going and pulls out his phone, waking the lock screen and staring at the picture that beams up at him.
It’s a picture of TK holding their two girls, smiling brightly and happily. It makes Carlos sniffle again as a tear slips down his cheek as much as he wishes it wouldn’t. His heart aches to be beside them, listening to the girls laugh and fight over some toy that they both have but of course they want to play with the same one and to be in TK’s arms, holding him close and thinking about how lucky he was to have the life that he has now.
He unlocks his phone and pulls up the messages that he’s been exchanging with TK over the two weeks that he had been gone. Thankfully they had made up after the little fight they had before Carlos had left - TK was unhappy with Carlos having to go on this work trip so close to the holidays and for so long - so their exchanges were happy but filled with longing. His fingers hover over the message box, hesitating to send the message that he wouldn’t be coming home tonight and that flights had been canceled.

Chapter 2/4
His mother had made the mistake of promising that she would bring 200 Christmas cookies to the work party months ago and had forgotten about it.
So now, TK and Carlos are elbow-deep in sugar cookie dough and helping his mother make and decorate cookies. Though, TK isn’t helping as much as he’s eating his weight in cookie dough and telling jokes.
“TK, if you eat another spoonful of the dough I’m going to banish you to the living room and ban you from having any cookies,” Carlos says, snatching the spoon that TK was supposed to be using to mix the dough out of his hand.
TK pouts. “It’s not my fault you make such good cookie dough.”
Carlos rolls his eyes, tossing the spoon into the sink before turning back to the dough he was kneading. TK watches as he plops it into a bowl, covers it with plastic wrap, sticks it into the fridge, and grabs out a bowl that had been chilling there. Carlos takes the chilled dough out of the bowl and rolls it out on the counter before he starts to press the cookie cutters into the dough to make different shapes.
“Can I help with this part?”
“Can you promise not to eat the dough you cut?”
TK pouts again, bumping his hip against Carlos’, “I promise.”
Carlos studies him for a moment before passing him some cookie cutters.
“You two are adorable,” TK’s mom says, snapping a picture of the two of them.
TK shakes his head, laughing it off without really commenting on the moment. If he did, he would have to admit that he was having more fun with Carlos than he’d ever had with any of his real boyfriends and TK was certain that you weren’t supposed to have more fun with fake boyfriends.
“TK is lucky he’s adorable, or I would have run him out of the kitchen hours ago for eating the cookie dough,” Carlos teases with a bright smile as he lays out the cookies on the cookie sheet. “But then again, I should have known better than to let him help because he’s always stealing ingredients when I cook.”
“Hey! I don’t do that… all the time,” TK says as he grabs another spoonful of cookie dough and pops it in his mouth.
“We could have had so much more done if you weren’t trying to be the cookie monster,” Carlos says, ignoring TK’s comment and swatting playfully at his hand.
“Anyway, I told you that I wouldn’t be much help! It’s your fault for laughing that off and still handing me an apron,” TK counters, adding a few sprinkles to one of the cookies that he’s placed on the sheet.
Carlos rolls his eyes, but TK can see that he’s not really annoyed, more amused. TK watches as he slides the pan full of cut cookies into the oven before he makes his way over to TK with a mischievous look in his eye and slips a hand around his waist. He pulls him close and presses a soft kiss to his lips.
