Kickstarting “The Bezzle” audiobook, sequel to Red Team Blues

I'm heading to Berlin! On January 29, I'll be delivering Transmediale's Marshall McLuhan Lecture, and on January 30, I'll be at Otherland Books (tickets are limited! They'll have exclusive early access to the English edition of The Bezzle and the German edition of Red Team Blues!).
I'm kickstarting the audiobook for The Bezzle, the sequel to last year's Red Team Blues, featuring Marty Hench, a hard-charging, two-fisted forensic accountant who spent 40 years in Silicon Valley, busting every finance scam hatched by tech bros' feverish imaginations:
http://thebezzle.org
Marty Hench is a great character to write. His career in high-tech scambusting starts in the early 1980s with the first PCs and stretches all the way to the cryptocurrency era, the most target-rich environment for scamhunting tech has ever seen. Hench is the Zelig of tech scams, and I'm having so much fun using him to probe the seamy underbelly of the tech economy.
Enter The Bezzle, which will be published by Tor Books and Head of Zeus on Feb 20: this adventure finds Marty in the company of Scott Warms, one of the many bright technologists whose great startup was bought and destroyed by Yahoo! (yes, they really used that asinine exclamation mark). Scott is shackled to the Punctuation Factory by golden handcuffs, and he's determined to get fired without cause, so he can collect his shares and move onto the next thing.
That's how Scott and Marty find themselves on Catalina island, the redoubt of the Wrigley family, where bison roam the hills, yachts bob in the habor and fast food is banned. Scott invites Marty on a series of luxury vacations on Catalina, which end abruptly when they discover – and implode – a hamburger-related Ponzi scheme run by a real-estate millionaire who is destroying the personal finances of the Island's working-class townies out of sheer sadism.
Scott's victory is bittersweet: sure, he blew up the Ponzi scheme, but he's also made powerful enemies – the kinds of enemies who can pull strings with the notoriously corrupt LA County Sheriff's Deputies who are the only law on Catalina, and after taking a pair of felony plea deals, Scott gets the message and never visits Catalina Island again.
That could have been the end of it, but California's three-strikes law – since rescinded – means that when Scott picks up one more felony conviction for some drugs discovered during a traffic stop, he's facing life in prison.
That's where The Bezzle really gets into gear.
At its core, The Bezzle is a novel about the "shitty technology adoption curve": the idea that our worst technological schemes are sanded smooth on the bodies of prisoners, mental patients, kids and refugees before they work their way up the privilege gradient and are inflicted on all of us:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/04/12/algorithmic-wage-discrimination/#fishers-of-men
America's prisons are vicious, brutal places, and technology has only made them worse. When Scott's prison swaps out in-person visits, the prison library, and phone calls for a "free" tablet that offers all these services as janky apps that cost ten times more than they would on the outside, the cruelty finds a business model.
Working inside and outside the prison Marty Hench and Scott Warms figure out the full nature of the scam that the captive audience of prisoners are involuntary beta-testers for, and they discover a sprawling web of real-estate fraud, tech scams, and offshore finance that is extracting fortunes from the hides of America's prisoners and their families. The criminals who run that kind of enterprise aren't shy about fighting for what they've got, and they're more than happy to cut some of LA County's notorious deputy gangs in for a cut in exchange for providing some kinetic support for the project.
The Bezzle is exactly the kind of book I was hoping I'd get to write when I kicked off the Hench series – one that decodes the scam economy, from music royalties to prison videoconferencing, real estate investment trusts to Big Four accounting firm bogus audits. It's both a fast-moving, two-fisted crime novel and a masterclass on how the rich and powerful get away with both literal and figurative murder.
It's getting a big push from both my publishers and I'll be touring western Canada and the US with it. The early reviews are spectacular. But despite all of this, I had to make my own audiobook for it, which I'm pre-selling on Kickstarter:
http://thebezzle.org
Why? Because Audible – Amazon's monopoly gatekeeper to the audiobook world, with more than 90% of the market – refuses to carry my work.
Audible uses Digital Rights Management to lock every audiobook they sell to their platform. Legally, only an Audible-authorized app can decrypt and play the audiobooks they sell you. Distributing a tool that removes Audible DRM is a felony under Section 1201 of the 1998 DMCA.
That means that if you break up with Audible – delete your Audible apps – you will lose your entire audiobook library. And the fact that you're Audible's hostage makes the writers you love into their hostages, too. Writers understand that if they leave the Audible platform, their audience will have to choose between following them, or losing all their audiobooks.
That's how Audible gets away with abusing its performers and writers, up to and including the $100m Audiblegate wage-theft scandal:
https://www.audiblegate.com/
Audible can steal $100m from its writers…and the writers still continue to sell on the platform, because leaving will cost them their audience.
This is canonical enshittification: lock in users, then screw suppliers. Lots of companies abuse DRM to do this, but none can hold a candle to Amazon, who understand that the DMCA is a copyright law that protects corporations at the expense of creators.
Under DMCA 1201 commercial distribution of a "circumvention device" carries a five-year prison sentence and a $500,000 fine. That means that if I write a book, pay to have it recorded, and then sell it to you through Audible, I am criminally prohibited from giving you the tool to take it from Audible to another platform. Even though I hold the copyright to that work, I would face a harsher sentence than you would if you simply pirated the audiobook from some darknet site. Not only that: if you shoplifted the audiobook in CD form, you'd get a lighter sentence than I, the copyright holder, would receive for giving you a tool to unlock it from Amazon's platform! Hell, if you hijacked the truck that delivered the CD, you'd get off lighter than I would. This is a scam straight out of a Marty Hench novel.
This is batshit. I won't allow it. My books are licensed on the condition that they must not be sold with DRM. Which means that Audible won't sell my books, which means that my publishers are thoroughly disinterested in paying thousands of dollars to produce audiobooks of my titles. A book that isn't sold in the one store than accounts for 90% of all sales is unlikely to do well.
That's where you come in. Since 2020, I've used Kickstarter to pre-sell five of my audiobooks (I wrote nine books during lockdown!). All told, I've raised over $750,000 (gross! but still!) on these crowdfunders. More than 20,000 backers have pitched in! The last two of these books – The Internet Con and The Lost Cause – were national bestsellers.
This isn't just a way for me to pay off a lot of bills and put away something for retirement – it's proof that readers care about supporting writers and don't want to be locked in by a giant monopolist that depends on its drivers pissing in bottles to make quota.
It's a powerful message about the desire for something better than Amazon. It's part of the current that is driving the FTC to haul Amazon into court for being a monopolist, and also part of the inspiration for other authors to try treating Amazon as damage and routing around it, with spectacular results:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dragonsteel/surprise-four-secret-novels-by-brandon-sanderson
And I'm doing it again. Last December, I went into Skyboat Media's studios where Gabrielle De Cuir directed @wilwheaton, who reprised his role as Marty Hench for the audiobook of The Bezzle. It came out amazing:
https://archive.org/details/bezzle-sample
Now I'm pre-selling this audiobook, as well as the ebook and hardcover for The Bezzle. I'm also offering bundles with the ebook and audiobook for Red Team Blues (naturally these are all DRM-free). You can get your books signed and personalized and shipped anywhere in the world, courtesy of Book Soup, and I've partnered with Libro.fm to deliver DRM-free audiobooks with an app for people who don't want to mess around with sideloading.
I've also got some spendy options for high rollers. There's three chances to name a character in the next Hench novel (Picks and Shovels, Feb 2025). There's also five chances to commission a Hench short story about your favorite tech scam, and get credited when the story is published.
The Kickstarter runs for the next three weeks, which should give me time to get the hardcopy books signed and shipped to arrive around the on-sale date. What's more, I've finally worked out all the post-Brexit kinks with shipping my UK publisher's books to EU backers. I'm working with Otherland Books to fulfill those EU orders, and it looks like I'm going to be able to sign a giant stack of those when I'm in Berlin later this month to give the annual Marshall McLuhan lecture at the Canadian embassy:
https://transmediale.de/en/2024/event/mcluhan-2024
Red Team Blues and its sequels are some of the most fun – and informative – work I've done in my quarter-century career. I love how they blend technical explanations of the scam economy with high-intensity technothrillers. That's the the same mix as my bestselling YA series Little Brother series – but these are firmly adult novels.
The Bezzle came out great. I hope you'll give it a try – and that you'll come out to see me in late February when I hit the road with the book! Here's that Kickstarter link again:
http://thebezzle.org
If you'd like an essay-formatted version of this post to read or share, here's a link to it on pluralistic.net, my surveillance-free, ad-free, tracker-free blog:

Music tech startup closing doors due to low investor, public interest in flagship product
April 18 - ALEPH
Earlier this week, the CEO of AbleSound Acoustics sent out notice that the company would be closing its doors, citing lack of initial investment and poor first impressions of their flagship product, the Tondeker modular guitar.
"While disheartening, we must face the reality of music production in the current day and age. The DAW has its place in the studio, as do those who are serious about recording their own performances. We were searching for that weird combination of live performer, disc jockey, and audio technician, but ended up missing the mark for all three. I'm still proud of my team and the strides that they were able to make in the name of music production, but the world has chosen to head in a different direction."
The CEO continued, citing AI-assisted music generation as one of the many reasons behind the lukewarm audience reception. Critics and reviewers provided a multitude of additional reasons for the Tondeker's failure to launch.
The guitar was lambasted for its appearance among the public, with one such post on social media decrying it as "an ugly metal box that has no right to call itself a guitar". While those willing to give it a chance found it easy to use, they noted that they also had difficulty understanding the niche it was meant for.
"Not every performance needs to be recorded, and not every composition needs to be performed. I play my actual guitar and compose on my tablet. I don't need to tape the two together!"
In spite of its shortcomings, the Tondeker is still technically impressive. It is lauded for its hard-light integration, a first for the emerging technology. However, even there it was not free from criticism, as the idea of interfacing hard-light with music led to safety concerns among testers.
"Take away all the extra doodads, and this thing is nothing more than a fancy theremin. It's fun to mess around with, but the novelty wears off quickly."
AbleSound Acoustics will cease operations in June. The company's employees are hopeful that they will be able to continue collaborating and innovate in a different field that is better suited to their strengths.
Investors speculate that the technological uniqueness of the Tondeker combined with the limited nature of its manufacturing run will lead to both the guitar and its modules being highly sought-after by collectors and enthusiasts.

Random Local Alastor Facts!
He has a drawing tablet (like, a bamboo) hooked up to his computer in his radiotower.
He barely uses that OLD ASS COMPUTER except for accessing music that isn't available physically, and sometimes some research. Marina (@/killstreaming) set him up with her drawing tablet back when the Tumblr crab game first came out, and he liked it WAY more than a mouse! So he kept it and uses it instead of a mouse.
His pet raccoon (aka his Raccoon Son) has his own radio station!
He hooked a mic up to that little guy, so you get to hear broadcasted chattering and Raccoon Livestreaming, I guess. Sometimes the mic battery dies, though.
He knows how to make vegan food!
Not for himself, but for some the radio students. (Marina is vegan.) He used to feed them human meat (with full disclosure) bc like... they're college kids, it's free food, they weren't saying no;;; but after a reality check, he got his shit together and actually feeds them properly.
He does have a furby organ.
and sometimes he plays it on air in the morning. Monday morning hangover cure, probably.
He likes to read!
It can be anything! Fiction, nonfiction, academic work, if it's good, it's good! The last thing he read was the Wre/tched of the Ea/rth by Fra/ntz Fa/non. He's currently reading Bl/ood Meri/dian.
He does not like sweets very much.
He has permanent Keto Palate (not from doing keto though. It's just the way he is.) Refined sugar really does taste like battery acid to him! But he likes making sweet things sometimes, so, y'all get to be taste-testers. (Especially his husband.)
He's scared of dogs but does a decent job of hiding it.
Unless it starts barking and jumping at him. Then he needs to Leave. If it's just chilling, he'll be cautious + tense and keep a distance between them, but it's fine.
He's not the kind of serial killer who hurts animals.
He doesn't love animals like some serial killers who swing wildly in the opposite direction, though. He's just cool with them. They're just kind of out here doing their own thing. He thinks it's perfectly fine to eat them, but you're kind of a weirdo for hurting them for fun, the same way you're a weirdo for hurting a weaker perspn. And if he gets positive attention from one (NOT a dog), that's pretty cool too. He doesn't get a lot of positive attention from people, so, hey, he'll take it.
He's a Pick Me ass serial killer
Lol. He's "not like other serial killers" and he doesn't respect any of these freaks! People who kill others who don't stand a chance? You're weird for that. People who use axes and shit? You're a neanderthal. Look, it's not hard to kill another human being, especially a kid, kids are always out here inventing new ways to die anyway -- you're not special! You're weird as fuck actually
He still won't go to the doctor.
Even after Adam nerfed him! He will NOT see a medical professional. He'll just keep chewing on ice when that iron deficiency pica hits and he'll keep secretly dyeing his grey hair (don't metagame this)
He doesn't want kids of his own but he loves being a funcle!
What it says on the tin. He was born to be a funcle. He doesn't have the patience or selflessness to properly raise his own kid. It's good that he recognizes this.
His favorite kinds of jazz music are the experimental kinds!
Which flows in to why he's a big fan of modern-day experimental & noise. (That entire genre is inspired by jazz, btw.) His fav artist Of His Era is Cab Callaway, but, he also really likes Coltrane & other similar artists.

Prying Apart The Grip
The iPhone was introduced in July 2007. It’s hard to believe we are coming up on the 17th anniversary of what is now a necessary device—be it Apple or a competitor—for daily living. Apple ushered in a whole new way of life, merging phone, camera, and music player into one device.
Of course, those three were just the tip of the iceberg, and developers wanted a way to get their cool new web-based applications onto those phones. So Apple wisely opened the App Store in 2008. While the number of apps peaked at 2.2 million in 2017, it has settled into a comfortable groove at 1.8 million, thanks to Apple sifting through the mess and deleting some older apps that no longer worked.
But buried in the details of the App Store agreement that developers had to sign with Apple—who vetted each app for safety and security—was some fine print: Every in-app sale would be divided 70/30 between the developer and Apple. Basically, there was and still is a 30% Apple tax just for playing, at least in the US. Every time a user buys something in an app, then Apple gets a healthy chunk of it.

But that is now changing in Europe, where the EU has become the tail that wags the dog.
Remember all those Cookies boxes we have to check off on virtually every website we visit? We can thank the EU and their GDPR, which stands for General Data Protection Regulation. It was easier for everyone to just make it the global standard, even if they are annoying.
And then there was Apple’s announcement last year that all new phones going forward would feature a USB-C connector, instead of the Lightning port. This too was in response to the EU mandating that all phones must have the same connector, and rather than have two global systems, Apple sided with the EU. Admittedly, it does simplify things for everyone, except for Apple users during this transition period. Legacy phone users will have a bunch of obsolete connectors real soon when they upgrade.
The third wave of EU influence just passed, and it is the opening up of the App Store to competitors who wish to have their own stores, thus bypassing the Apple ecosystem. Furthermore, it marks what will be the end of that 30% Apple tax, something that Spotify has been dreaming about ever since it wanted to upsell users with its audio books program. They are pretty happy right now.
Apple, of course, is concerned, arguing that third-party app stores may not pass muster in terms of safety and security, and users could be at risk. Point well taken. I’m betting they are more concerned about losing their revenue sharing program, though.
But for now, this is only going to happen in Europe, but you can bet that US regulators will be watching closely. It could just as easily be mandated here. Apple has enjoyed a tightly-held monopoly in many aspects of its phones, ceding only accessory items to third-party makers. You know. Things like connector cords and dongles that allow you to connect to your laptop all the things that were once standard on a MacBookPro.
Here in the US, we are not accustomed to the heavy hand of government telling companies how to run their business, and if someone wants to take the chance of using proprietary connectors and being the only source of mobile apps, then so be it. The risk is on them.
In the case of Apple, though, this has played out very well for them. It all depends on how the FTC feels about such monopoly power. Apple has 58% share of smartphones in the US, with the remainder scattered across the Android platform. That’s power. If the US were to follow the EU regarding the App Store, it would at least loosen some of the grip this company has on our daily lives.
Maybe that's not such a bad idea, and this coming from a guy who is very laissez faire in worldview. As much as I am an Apple fanboy, with many phones, tablets, and computers through the years, I often feel like Apple is guilty of abusing its position by using customers as product testers, and forcing us to buy things we really don’t want, like those silly dongles so I can read a memory stick or SD card.
Besides, I feel for Spotify on this one, because it has the potential to pose a formidable threat to Audible in the audio book world, except that for now Apple will always have its hand out. Audible, of course, is an Amazon property, and dodges the Apple tax.
Furthermore, 17 years is a long time to have such a death grip on a market. I’m good with following the EU’s lead on this, because in the end it will likely be good for consumers. And isn’t that what it’s all about?

Get Ready for a Sparkling Summer - The Must-Have Pool Cleaning Kit!
A sparkling, crystal-clear pool is the ultimate goal for every pool owner during the summer, and having the right pool cleaning kit is essential to achieving that. Whether you own a large in-ground pool or a trendy stock tank pool, the right tools can make maintaining your pool a breeze. Here's a rundown of the must-have items for your pool cleaning kit to keep your water pristine and inviting all summer long.
1. Pool Skimmer Net
A skimmer net is an essential part of any pool cleaning kit for quickly removing debris like leaves, bugs, and dirt that float on the surface of your pool.
Flat Skimmer: Ideal for day-to-day cleaning, helping you scoop out small bits of debris quickly.
Deep-Bag Skimmer: Great for removing larger amounts of debris or when you need to reach deeper into the water.
Tip: Look for a skimmer net with a telescopic pole to reach all corners of the pool without getting wet.
2. Pool Vacuum
A pool vacuum is crucial for cleaning the bottom of your pool, where dirt and debris tend to settle.
Manual Pool Vacuum: Requires you to operate it by hand, but it’s affordable and works well for small or stock tank pools.
Automatic Pool Vacuum: Automatically roams the bottom of the pool, collecting dirt and debris without much effort. There are suction-side, pressure-side, and robotic vacuum options depending on your pool’s needs.
Tip: Robotic vacuums are the most effective and convenient, ideal for those who want a hands-free cleaning experience.
3. Pool Brush
A pool brush is essential for scrubbing the walls and floor of your pool to prevent algae growth and keep the surface smooth and clean.
Nylon Bristles: Perfect for vinyl or fiberglass pools, these brushes are gentle enough to avoid damage but tough enough to remove dirt and grime.
Stainless Steel Bristles: Ideal for concrete or plaster pools, these heavy-duty brushes can tackle tough algae or mineral buildup.
Tip: Make sure to regularly scrub high-traffic areas like steps, corners, and the waterline, where algae and grime accumulate most quickly.
4. Pool Test Kit
To maintain safe and healthy water, you need to regularly test your pool’s water chemistry. A pool test kit will help you monitor important chemical levels.
Test Strips: Simple and easy to use, test strips allow you to dip them in the water and compare the results to a color chart. They measure pH, chlorine, alkalinity, and sometimes calcium hardness.
Liquid Test Kits: More accurate than strips, these kits come with reagents to test your water by adding a few drops to a water sample and watching for color changes.
Digital Testers: For tech-savvy pool owners, digital water testers provide highly accurate results and are easy to read.
Tip: Test your water at least once a week and after heavy pool use to ensure the chemicals are balanced and safe.
5. Pool Vacuum Hose
If you use a manual vacuum, you'll need a pool vacuum hose that connects to your pool pump and allows you to vacuum debris from the pool floor.
Length: Make sure to get a hose long enough to reach the furthest part of your pool.
Flexibility: Opt for a hose that is kink-resistant and flexible to easily maneuver around the pool.
Tip: Consider a vacuum hose with a swivel cuff to prevent it from tangling as you clean.
6. Pool Chlorine Dispenser
To ensure your pool stays clean and sanitized, you need a chlorine dispenser to maintain proper chlorine levels.
Floating Dispensers: These float on the surface of your pool, slowly releasing chlorine as they move around.
In-Line Dispensers: For those with a built-in filtration system, these dispensers can be installed to automatically distribute chlorine as water flows through the system.
Tip: Use stabilized chlorine tablets in the dispenser to keep your water clean for longer, as they dissolve slowly and work efficiently.
7. Algae Brush or Algae Control Chemicals
If you notice algae starting to form in your pool, an algae brush or algae control chemicals are key for preventing it from taking over.
Algaecide: A chemical solution that prevents algae from growing and spreading. It's best used as a preventative measure.
Algae Brush: A stiff, heavy-duty brush designed to scrub stubborn algae off pool surfaces.
Tip: Apply algaecide after heavy rain or periods of heavy pool use, as these conditions can lead to algae growth.
8. Pool Filter Cleaner
To keep your filter functioning properly, it's important to regularly clean it with a pool filter cleaner. Filters can become clogged with oils, dirt, and debris, which reduces their effectiveness.
Filter Cleaning Solution: A specialized cleaner that breaks down oils, grease, and dirt in the filter. It can be used on sand, cartridge, or DE filters.
Tip: Clean your filter once a month or as needed depending on how often you use your pool.
9. Pool Leaf Rake
A leaf rake is larger and deeper than a skimmer net, making it perfect for removing larger amounts of leaves and debris, especially after a storm or in heavily wooded areas.
Flat Leaf Rake: Works well for daily leaf removal on the pool's surface.
Deep-Bag Rake: Best for scooping up large amounts of debris from the bottom of the pool or after heavy leaf fall.
Tip: Use a leaf rake in the fall or after storms to quickly remove a large amount of debris before it settles.
10. Telescopic Pole
A telescopic pole is a versatile tool that allows you to attach various pool cleaning accessories, like your skimmer net, brush, or vacuum head.
Adjustable Length: Choose a telescopic pole that extends far enough to reach every corner of your pool.
Durable Materials: Opt for one made of lightweight, durable aluminum that can withstand regular use.
Tip: A pole with interchangeable heads makes cleaning much easier and more efficient.
Bonus Items for Your Pool Cleaning Kit
Pool Cover: Invest in a pool cover to keep debris out when your pool isn’t in use. This reduces the amount of time you’ll need to spend cleaning.
Pool Clarifier: This chemical helps to clump small particles together so they can be easily filtered out, keeping the water looking clear.
Floating Thermometer: Helps you monitor the pool’s temperature and ensures it’s comfortable for swimming.
Get Ready for a Sparkling Summer!
With these must-have items in your cleaning kit for pool, you'll be fully equipped to maintain a sparkling, crystal-clear pool all summer long. Whether you have a large backyard pool or a small stock tank pool, the right tools make all the difference in keeping your pool water fresh, clean, and ready for swimming. So, gather your essentials, and enjoy a stress-free, sparkling summer!

How to Make Your Flutter App Responsive on All DevicesÂ
Introduction:
Creating a responsive Flutter app guarantees that it looks fantastic on all devices, including phones and tablets. This is achievable through the use of flexible layouts, adaptable design elements, and proper testing. Consider to hire Flutter developer to boost your app's responsiveness.
A few points are mentioned below:
Understand Device Diversity: Devices vary in shape and size, ranging from little cellphones to gigantic tablets. Your software should be able to adapt to any screen size easily. Flutter includes widgets and features to enable you to achieve this flexibility with minimal effort.
Use Flexible Layouts: Instead of set sizes and placements, utilize flexible layouts that adapt to the available screen space. Widgets such as Expanded and Flexible are useful for designing responsive designs. They enable your UI elements to extend or shrink based on screen size, ensuring a consistent experience across devices.
Responsive Text and Images: Text and graphics should gracefully scale to fit various screen sizes. Flutter provides widgets such as Text and Image with properties such as font size and fit to manage their size and scaling behavior. Make your text and images more responsive by using relative units such as percentages or MediaQuery.
Media Queries for Device Adaptability: Flutter includes a MediaQuery class that returns information about the device's size and orientation. You may use this information to make informed layout and design decisions for your app. For example, you can rearrange UI elements or adjust padding and margins depending on the device's screen size.
Testing Across Devices: To guarantee that your app appears well on all devices, test it on a variety of screen sizes and orientations. Flutter's built-in tools, such as the Flutter Analyzer and device emulators, make this process simple. Test your app on several devices to find any layout flaws and make the necessary changes.
Adaptive Widgets: Flutter includes adaptive widgets that change their appearance depending on the platform and screen size. For example, the ElevatedButton widget adjusts its style to meet the platform's design rules, resulting in a native look and feel on both iOS and Android smartphones. Using adaptive widgets allows your software to integrate perfectly with the user's device.
Avoid Hard-Coded Values: Hard-coded values for sizes and positions might cause layout differences between devices. Instead, express your layout in terms of relative units such as percentages, fractions, or the device's width and height. This strategy ensures that your software is responsive and adaptive to various screen sizes.
Feedback and Iteration: Solicit input from users and beta testers to uncover any usability concerns with certain devices. Iterate your design depending on the input to improve your app's overall responsiveness and user experience.
Conclusion:
Crafting a responsive Flutter app is possible by embracing flexible layouts, utilizing adaptive widgets, and testing across several devices. For additional assistance. At Aresourcepool Hire Flutter developer to ensure your app delivers a consistent experience across all screen sizes, increasing user happiness.

Galaxy Technologies Gains Accessible Communication

Galaxy technologies
With the ability to provide connection, creativity, entertainment, and knowledge, mobile technology is a potent instrument. Since it is crucial to Samsung ability to interact with friends, family, and the outside world, they think that everyone should have fair access to it.
At Samsung, they create meaningful, human-centered inventions that provide people more power and life-enriching opportunities. By offering a range of Galaxy features, like as easy-to-use gestures, audio assistants, and vision upgrades, they want to provide accessibility to technology for individuals with diverse abilities.
In honour of Global Accessibility Awareness Day this year, let’s examine a few of these aspects and the ways in which they are still breaking down barriers.
Enhancing the Accessibility of the Galaxy Experience
Relumino Mode Samsung
Relumino Mode, which was developed within Samsung’s internal incubator, aims to enhance the quality of life for individuals with low vision by making text and images on screens more visible. Users can more clearly distinguish content on their smartphones thanks to this function, which also improves the screen’s contrast, brightness, and sharpness of image outlines and shapes.
Samsung worked with academics, engineers, programmers, testers, advisers with low vision, and other stakeholders to understand the needs and perspectives of Samsung users in order to create an inclusive visual display solution. Years of research and development went into creating Relumino Mode, which aims to help Samsung achieve its mission of “Screens for All” by enhancing the viewing experience for people with low vision. Starting with the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, this new capability is accessible.
Relumino Samsung
Relumino Mode makes it easier for people with low vision to interact with the world and consume the content that is most important to them, whether it’s following a ball during a sporting event or seeing tiny print on a news programme.

Giving TalkBack Audio Descriptions
TalkBack, commonly referred to as Voice Assistant, is a function that makes it easier for those with low vision to get the most out of their devices without having to look at their screens. With this function, Galaxy tablets and smartphones become user-friendly audio interfaces. Talkback can speak comments to users as they move around their devices, highlighting or selecting items like emails, notifications, and menus. Moreover, TalkBack shortcuts can be turned on for smoother navigation.
Getting about the screen is easy. TalkBack gives consumers convenient control over their devices with simple motions like Swipe Left, Double Tap, and Use Two Fingers To Scroll.

Enhancing the World Through Ambient Audio
The Ambient Sound setting on the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro adjusts background noise at five different amplification levels to meet a variety of demands and scenarios. Users can personalise their sound experience and hearing with this function. Users may engage in social conversations while being aware of their surroundings thanks to the Ambient Sound function, which can be used to enhance the volume of a conversation or increase road noise at a crosswalk.
Configuring the background noise
1) Place the two buds in your ears. 2) Launch the wearable Galaxy app. 3) Press the earphone settings. 4) Press the Accessibility button. 5) Press the button for ambient sound.
An inventive method of using your Galaxy Watch without touching it is through Universal Gestures. Without having to push down or forcefully touch the screen, users can browse the Galaxy interface, access apps, scroll messages, and more with only four simple gestures: Make Fist, Make Fist Twice, Pinch, and Double Pinch.
Universal Gestures to Encourage
1) Go into Device Settings 2) Press the Accessibility button. 3) Navigate to the section on interaction and dexterity. 4) Activate Universal Motions
This a fantastic topic! Recently, Samsung has improved the accessibility features on its Galaxy devices. By removing obstacles to communication, these features hope to make the user experience more inclusive.
Here are few examples of how Galaxy technologies is making communication more accessible:
Live Translate
During phone calls, this tool translates text and audio discussions in real time. This is an excellent tool for encouraging conversation amongst speakers of different languages and breaking down language barriers.
Interpreter
This function produces written translations for in-the-moment discussions. When having multilingual talks in person or virtually, this can be useful.
Circle to Search
Using motions like circling, highlighting, or scribbling, users may utilise this AI-powered functionality to search for content on their device from anywhere. This can be very useful for users who have limited dexterity.
These are just a handful of the ways that Samsung Galaxy technologies is facilitating easier communication. You can check the Accessibility settings on your Galaxy device “Opening Accessible Communication Through Galaxy Technologies” for additional details on how to enable these capabilities.

when you signed up to be a product tester for different companies, you were picturing cleaning gadgets, kitchen appliances, maybe some accessibility installs or new home technology. what you hadn't pictured was being invited to a remote facility to test out a fancy new massage chair, where you weren't even allowed to set foot inside the building until you'd signed a whole tree's worth of waivers and NDAs. it felt strange and secretive, but by taking this job you were getting an extra bonus on top of your monthly pay, so you didn't think too hard about it until you arrived.
the reception area was nice, but empty. staffed only by a polite woman at the counter. no branding or logos anywhere. after another round of forms you barely read and ID being processed, an official-looking man holding a tablet and dressed in a lab coat arrived to show you into the facility. he had glasses and grey at his temples, but if he told you his name when he greeted you, you didn't catch it.
you let him walk you down echoing hallways and through badge-locked doors, where you passed no one but another man wearing an identical coat. then you let him lead you into a tiled room, brightly lit and sparsely furnished with a large two-way mirror on one wall. and then, you let him strap you into the almost dentist-like chair in its centre, half-reclined with your feet in stirrups. you were a bit confused at the restraints, but he wasn't explaining, so you didn't ask any questions.
"that's not too tight?" he asked, fastening another buckle at your hip. you said no, and he tightened it again. "how does that feel?" he then asked, spreading the stirrups wider and stretching your legs open. when you said okay, he nodded and pushed them a little further. your introduction to the massage chair continued like this until he was pushing your head back against a cushioned rest, and a gag was being stretched over your lips.
you couldn't contain your shock: you opened your mouth to refuse, or at least demand to know what was going on, but all he did was shove the gag in and fasten it on the other side of your head. your arms were tied down, your rising voice muffled. that was when he pulled a pair of industrial scissors from his coat, and began methodically cutting your clothes from your body.
you thrashed then, trying to yell and tell him to stop, but the gag garbled your words, and the restraints were so tight you could only clench your fists and twist your torso. unfazed, he cut away your shirt and bra, pulling them from beneath you. then off came your shoes, one leg of your jeans, then the next. for a moment, all you were left in were your panties, cool air caressing the skin of your inner thighs, and he seemed to take a moment to appreciate the sight before he cut them right off you too.
you didn't know what to do: you almost felt like crying. there you were, laid back and tied down, bare and spread for a strange man's gaze. you tried to beg him--for help or anything, what, you didn't know--but the man simply looked you over, checking a fastening here and there, gathered up your clothes, and left the way he came.
you were left by yourself in that room, but not really. the two-way mirror was directly across from you, and in its dark reflection you had an unobstructed view of your struggling limbs, your unprotected pussy. even without seeing them, you knew there must have been a team of researchers watching you from the other side.
mind panicking, trying to rationalise this situation, this chair--could you remember reading about any of this in the forms you signed?--you kept tugging at the straps and tonguing at the gag. something clicked and you thought you might have a chance to free yourself: you hadn't known what to expect, but this certainly wasn't it. this was just supposed to be a massage chair, a harmless product testing--
rather than the restraints loosening, something cold touched your bottom and you jumped. you could only see it in the window: a curved metal protrusion of some sort, slipping out from the chair and between your cheeks, up to your pussy. you whimpered, twisting against the restraints. but you couldn't put any distance between you and it, so you were forced to endure the sensation of it rising up against you, only to pull back and rise again. up and down it went, moving against you slowly, firmly, spreading your lips and bumping against your clit with every pass.
you don't know how much time passed like that, where the only sound in the room was soft, robotic whirring, and your ragged breathing around the gag as you fought against the tingling warmth rising in your body. you couldn't help growing wet from the constant stimulation, and soon the damning sound of your wetness could be heard echoing through the room too.
there was another subtle click and the metal rod began moving faster against you, rubbing against your pussy without pause. you jerked and whimpered again, squirming in the chair. you told yourself there was an audience on the other side of that mirror. you were in a weird place tied to a weird machine. this was not the time to be feeling as good as you were, but then--another click. it picked up speed again, the sensations relentless and inescapable, but when it started vibrating as well, all thoughts except chasing that white-hot pleasure left you. your body spasmed uncontrollably and you came apart, flooding the rod as your helpless moans were muffled by the gag. it kept rubbing you through your orgasm, and you barely heard the other click as it started to slow again.
but then the rod lengthened. it rose between your legs just enough for you to see that it was more of a curving, prehensile robotic limb than a rod, its rounded metal head curving over to kiss the entrance of your pussy. fear cut through the haze of pleasure as your struggles renewed: what was that? what were they trying to do to you? but with your legs spread wide and pussy pulsing from your orgasm, your body offered no resistance as it began to push its way inside.
you moaned helplessly as the first inch sunk into you, cold and unforgiving. there was more whirring as the chair shuddered for a moment, and strange metal arms unfolded and rose either side of your breasts. their ends opened to reveal what looked like miniature head massagers, with thin, curving fingers. you babbled against the gag and desperately shook your head, but no matter how much you squirmed, the appendage in your pussy kept slowly splitting you open, and those arms lowered down over your nipples with precision.
what you thought was about to be a painful pinch was actually like the delicate brush of tiny metal fingertips, teasing your nipples and hardening them to points, caressing the sensitive skin around your breasts and swirling around the peaks. yet another click and they began to apply pressure, alternating between tweaking and pulling your nipples in time with the metal arm that had begun thrusting. they settled into a perfect, torturous rhythm.
somewhat distantly, you realised the researchers must be controlling the chair, toying with your naked body as they saw fit. you could almost picture them standing at the glass, watching and writing down your reactions as they tested the features of their machine on your prone form. that thought was punctuated by a particularly hard thrust and pull of your nipples, and you told yourself that's what made you come, moaning as your legs shook and your wetness dripped onto the table--not your phantom audience.
you were subject to their every whim, whimpering and twitching with every movement of the metal arms. once it found your g-spot it kept its focus there, curved up and stroking your insides steadily. at some point, a thinner one had stretched up to your clit, where it lay against your bud vibrating at different rhythms, intensities, and speeds. sometimes there were two arms thrusting in and out of your pussy in alternating motions, at other times there were clamps that came down on your hips to hold you steady as the machine fucked up into you rapidly. you were pushed up and down like a ragdoll on the chair, made to come in quick succession, then edged for so long that when the vibrator finally found your clit again you nearly screamed as you orgasmed.
you felt like you were breaking, dying. your whole body was flushed, sensitive, and you thought you heard your own voice moaning from somewhere faraway, but still the machine continued. every setting, from gentle to rough, had you seeing stars; there was no stopping, no letting up. you were a cumming, thoughtless mess, little more than a warm, boneless body held up by the chair.
when, finally, it started to slow and the appendages peeled away from your body, you didn't know whether to cry from relief or their absence. your eyes had been screwed shut for a while, but now your brow relaxed, tension leaving you. you were exhausted, spent, and could feel your heartbeat all over. all you wanted to do was lay there and catch your breath.
but there was the sound of a door opening, then a latex glove touched your thigh and your eyes flew open: the man who had shown you inside was standing between your spread legs, his pants unzipped and hard cock in hand. "great work today," he said. "we really appreciate your time. now all that's left is double-checking the results, right?"
you tried to summon the strength to protest, but your efforts were just as futile as they were when you arrived. the restraints held you tight, the gag quiet, as he pushed his cockhead straight into your waiting pussy with a pop, already drenched and ready for his use. "so wet," he groaned. "that last combination must have been a show-stopper."
his thrusts were punishing from the start, like he'd been waiting for this moment: pushing all the way in, pulling all the way out, and ramming in again. it wasn't like you needed any preparation and he fucked you hard, fast, lab coat flapping at his thighs. he gripped the strap around your waist tightly as he slammed his cock deep inside you. his body was almost unbearably hot compared to the metal from before, and you moaned when his gloved thumb found your clit and rubbed it side to side. he was pushing you over the edge again, every muscle tightening up as you drowned in wave after wave of pleasure.
his movements picked up speed, hips stuttering, and all of a sudden he was bent over and rutting into you like an animal. your orgasm triggered his, and then he was groaning and cumming as your pussy milked him: pressed balls-deep inside you, cock twitching and shooting ropes of cum deep into your pussy. after a deep breath he pushed off you unceremoniously, pulling out and patting your ankle as he turned away.
behind him were the other researchers, hanging back and waiting patiently, a whole team of them lined up to take their turn with you. some still wore their white coats and tented slacks, but others were already fully undressed, stroking their cocks to your muffled whimpers. you could barely catch your breath, chest heaving, and you wondered how many had already come to you being fucked mercilessly by the machine, jerking themselves off on the other side of the glass. or maybe they had been edging themselves inside, hard and aching until it was time for them to fill you, to appreciate the result of their machine.
the next man stepped up to your prone form, his erection longer and thicker than the first, and despite your pleasure-drunk haze, you tried to shake your head no, it's not going to fit, i can't take much more, please--
but with a few slaps of his cock against your clit, he forced himself inside too. just like the machine he started shallow, somehow opening you up even more with each rock of his hips, but soon he was plowing straight into you, forcing his length in again and again. all you could do was moan, eyes falling shut as you came yet again, walls fluttering around his cock. he kissed and licked your nipples, savouring the way your body reacted, and you must have blacked out for a little while, because then he was cumming too, bottoming out somewhere deep inside, throbbing and filling you with warmth.
your body was oversensitive, pushed straight over the edge over and over again. but over and over again you were pounded, each researcher young and old emptying his balls deep inside you, or pulling out just enough to come all over your restrained body. some teased your breasts, some licked and sucked at your clit, some rubbed their hands up and down your thighs as they watched their length disappear into your tender, swollen pussy. but by the time the last man had pulled out of your twitching and shuddering body, the first one was raring and ready to go, over and over again.
it was little wonder that after you were made to come so many times, passing out on one cock just to come to on another, that by the time the researchers had their fill and you had well and truly had your brains fucked out: you barely felt the hands that freed you from the massage chair or realised when your limp body was carried from the room. your job was finally done.
but when you came to properly, you were tucked into what looked like a hospital bed, washed, cleaned, and dressed in new clothes (just a company-issued t-shirt, tracksuit pants, and what looked like cotton underwear). on the table beside you was a pitcher of water and array of lunch items, as well as a tall stack of papers held together with an alligator clip, titled: "[redacted] focus-group one: testing and feedback." a sticky note was stuck to the top with a smiley face, asking you to provide written feedback on pages 32 and 33.
as you sat there, staring out of what must have been one of the only windows in the facility and sipping your glass of water, you knew you would've done it all over again, even without the extra pay.
that massage chair was worth it alone.
