Why Aemond, Alicent, Rhaenyra, Daemon and others have been all whitewashed to the point some of them even became new characters while Aegon has been made worse in the show than his book counterpart? The whole thing about watching children killing eachother when some of them might be his own children is something didn't happen in the book and it's actually ramsay-level sadism, the whole plot line of given his younger brother a sexual trauma was invented by the show, he is so incompetent and drunk all the times. BookAegon was drunken yes but it's no where in the same level of his show counterpart, also Book!Aegon shown cunning and bravery during the war , has a very strong bond with sunfyre, has a good relationship with his wife and children.and all of these traits/things are non existing in Show!Egg . BookEgg always give me the impression that he has a strong mentality and perhaps even internal strength since he went through the worst things any person can go through in a such young age but he never give up until he succeeded in killing rhaenyra . The only times we've seen him show any kind of vulnerability are when his son jaehaerys died and when sunfyre has died. The interpretation of the showrunners of his character is not only very bad but it's also strange , inconsistent and extremely unfair considering how literally everyone has been whitewashed. which makes me wonder, what they will change too? will They make him hiding in the red keep while Aemond fight for him? i feel they will really make him a clone of joffery by being man child , power hungry and coward.
I basically agree with everything you've said, anon. 😭 I've long been complaining about this in my Aegon tag.
Anonymous asked: I honestly doubt the writers were surprised about the low support the Greens have with the general audience and I also think they knew very well what they were doing when they made Aegon a rapist. They can say whatever they want in interviews as it's probably just gaslighting for the fans, to keep the discussion going and to keep us engaged for S2.
I was expecting things to be a lot more balanced between the greens and the blacks at the start of the series. I think perhaps someone in the writers' room really didn't like Aegon as a character or something and Miguel Sapochnik didn't care enough to change it? Or they thought that Aegon's awfulness would be counterbalanced by Daemon's awfulness and the audience would be split?
Sara Hess seemed taken aback that the audience ended up swooning for Daemon, in that she gave explicitly anti-Daemon interviews? But that's .. ?? That's Matt Smith in a wig, every Eleventh Doctor girlie (me included) is gonna swoon for him ?? It's a given that he's gonna have a ton of fans stanning for his character. How is it logical (from a marketing perspective) to pit him against poor Tom, who only gets a couple of minutes of screen time, and expect things to be even steven?
And it's not even the same thing, because Daemon is merely the consort, whereas Aegon and Rhaenyra are leaders of their respective factions, the two options for monarch. You can't whitewash one to the extreme, while giving the other the worst possible interpretation. In a story that is famous for the "both sides bad, all war terrible" angle.
I just don't get it. If they wanted to make the greens the bad guys from the get-go, Aemond was right there, it could have been very easy and convenient to make him some kind of child terrorist, yet they seem to like him a lot and gave him a humanizing plot (??) Whereas Aegon is the one they turn into the monster? Aemond/Daemon being the awful ones would have made more sense, since they're foils already.
This is why I tend to think there must have been some disagreements in the writers' room, because I've heard too many contradicting takes from the showrunners/actors that don't really vibe with what's being displayed on screen. So something must have happened between intention and execution and my guess would be too many chefs in the kitchen.

I've seen a few comments that Mon Mothma's plotline doesn't seem to be progressing very far and she does not seem to have achieved anything whilst other characters have.
I believe that stagnation is the point. Of the three main threads, Cassian is actively working against the system from the outside, Luthen is playing on both sides, and Mon Mothma is trying to work within the system to bring the Empire down/champion rebel causes. We see both Cassian and Luthen achieve success to varying degrees, largely due to willingness to compromise and sacrifice.
Thus far Mon Mothma has been unwilling to do so and thus her attempts to progress have been stymied. I suspect in the final two episodes we will see her come to the inevitable realisation that it is not possible to bring down a broken and a corrupt system by working within its boundaries. A price must be paid.

Can't wait to see Jodie Whittaker follow David Tennant and Matt Smith's post-Doctor Who career and head into her creepy pervert/serial killer phase.

"House of the Dragon" has actually been pretty good but guys, we need to talk about Aemond.
Tumblr media
Just fucking look at him. Look at this anime villain, Sephiroth-looking motherfucker. This dude is a fucking cartoon it's amazing. I cannot picture this guy doing anything but sitting in a castle smugly drinking wine whilst his enemies are tortured in his dungeons. I don't believe this actor is even wearing a wig, he just showed up to set one day, cheekbones designed by Tetsuya Nomura himself and the directors said "we gotta get this weirdo on our show."

I know Tumblr has largely become anti-MCU because Disney bad, Marvel bad, corporations churning out cookie cutter movies bad etc etc but please, PLEASE watch Ms. Marvel.
I say this as a 30-something cishet white man who has no real reference point for its authenticity but it is just such a wonderful family story. It's a rare comic book property where not only do the powers take a backseat to the civilian lives of the characters, but it is better for it. Yes, they diverge from Kamala's Inhuman origins in the comics but they trade it in for something imo much more personal. It touches on how damaging partition was and the generational trauma it left behind as well as the experiences of modern Muslims living in America.
Even besides that it just feels so fresh and entertaining and has a great cast of characters and the first few episodes exude Edgar Wright/Scott Pilgrim energy in the best way.
It's a great show and deserves your time.

Ten Facts About Me! :D
I actually got tagged by both @embti and @adhdenfp. THAAAAAANKS FRAAAAAANDS
1. I have been in one relationship, and that was in high school. Tbh, I don’t feel a need to enter another one. (Am I asexual? Great question.)
2. One of my favorite things in the world is Cirque du Soleil. There’s just something so dang cool about seeing artistry, acrobatics, and storytelling come together like that. There’s nothing else like it.
3. I don’t have a ton of things I can put a blanket statement of “I’m afraid of this” on, but octopi are something I’m afraid of without exception. I am 30% fascinated, 70% terrified of how smart they are. And there’s just way too much to them. They need to calm down.
4. One of my favorite chill-out activities is cooking/baking. This is 100% due to falling in love with The Great British Bake-Off/The Great British Baking Show on Netflix. My favorite thing to make is curry. Nadiya Hussain and Chetna Makan are my favorite recipe-makers. Anytime I make dinner, my house smells like an Indian restaurant for days. It’s glorious.
5. I keep a $1 bill in one of my college textbooks that I use frequently at work. This is because when I was in college, a random stranger came up to me, asked me about my major (mechanical engineering), and asked me what I planned to do with my degree (follow my dream of working in the amusement industry.) He then asked me what my name was and handed me a $1 bill, and he said, “Take this, because when you’re a famous roller coaster designer someday and I see you on TV, I want to be able to tell my friends, ‘Hey, I know that guy! He owes me $1!’” I think that’s one of the coolest ways of supporting someone’s dreams that any stranger could ever possibly do. I kept that dollar, and that’s the one I keep in that textbook. I hope to learn how to be randomly kind to strangers on that magnitude someday.
6. Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and any derivatives of those two things bore me to tears. I’m a terrible nerd, I know.
7. I have a cat. Her name is Nora. I love her to pieces. However, both the smell of her food and the act of cleaning her litter box make me gag. I legit have to hold my breath and take frequent breaks when doing either task. I don’t understand why; I can watch surgery or pimple popping videos without issue, but animal food will make me barf. (I had similar issues with the smell of dog food when being around dogs growing up.)
8. I’ve already thought this out: if I had to/elected to leave the U.S. forever, I’d move to Ireland (Republic, not Northern. That’s not anti-Northern Ireland or anti-U.K.; I just really loved the Republic of Ireland when I went there last year.) Canada is nice, but I’m not about their weather.
9. The Christopher Eccleston + David Tennant years of Doctor Who are one of the best pieces of media I’ve ever seen. I stan those story arcs so hard. Matt Smith’s first season was good, but the show quality decreased and my frustration grew exponentially with each season since. My love of Broadchurch has me cautiously optimistic about Jodie Whittaker and Chris Chibnall, but we’ll see. I dislike that I’ve gone from obsession to constant frustration with that show.
10. When I am in the car, I BELT along with my music. If someone else is in the car with me, you couldn’t pay me enough to sing along. I’m too shy!
I tag @cowspot and @loves-a-good-story! :D
