Day 2592: Wels flies all the way back to the hospital for the ranchers, but there's no help to be given. There's a rainy winter on the horizon, the sculk that's already reached his brain can only get worse. With nothing else they can do for Revy and not wanting to leave the poor pup to turn into a warden, the ranchers make a decision. There's a field of feral crops just outside the city that's almost like home. They spend his last day there.

A minecraft death can mean everything in a hardcore world but exactly nothing in a keepInventory world. It can be a slight but not that bothersome annoyance, or a plotpoint to an ongoing story. You can't really put a clear description on what it means, because they're always individual and different. Per server, per player and per situation.

Implying deaths in minecraft are always excruciatingly painful doesn't do justice to the quickly done kills for head decoration, and saying they're all meaningless and should be ignored storywise doesn't do the actually meaningful ones justice. Every death in the life series counts, but on hermitcraft, can you really imply that they're just that much more lax and careless with their lives? There's no limited amount, for sure, but the deaths can still mean something. Or mean exactly nothing and be accidental.

It is SUCH an interesting topic to discuss and theorize about - and a main reason I can't get over Tango's S8 actually </3

it's very funny seeing the tuff guys talk about gem being so passive this season because on the one hand i totally see why, considering she's happy to let her barn burn down and she's brushed off the many attempts on her life and continued to stay allied with a number of them (even encouraged them to kill her), but i don't think she's as passive as they say.

i think she's being held back, like a hunting dog on a leash. gem likes to play the game and the game says green lives cant kill, but she's still bloodthirsty. she's so happy to convince everyone else to kill anyone but herself (mostly scott, to be honest). she helped scar build a trap and lured cleo in. all he had to do was pull the trigger. she planned to team up with jimmy to kill scott, and even when scott was no longer dark green she tried to convince him to go through with their plan anyway. she wants to pvp pearl, one on one, the honourable way. even back in episode three she was talking to her snail about what a great team they'd make (if only it wasn't targeting only her).

she's playing the long game but its only a matter of time before (like etho's apt volcano metaphor) she unleashes carnage on the server, and we've seen what that looks like in secret life.

also the designs and scenario is within an au im still putting together (same world as this one); my favorite dynamic is two characters that don't hate each other as much, but sometimes still make that attempt on the other's life- hence the poisoned ice cream. like, he doesnt exactly want to tango dead all the time, but it would be really funny to see him out of commission for a bit, (un)fortunately it fails

Tango was so happy energetic.

And from Tango calling Etho's storage system cute and Etho in gamechat going "CUTE?!" (00:41:07). To the razzing (and laughing) over shops (00:49:00 and 01:03:49). Etho taking Tango's head twice, and it all being so playful (00:58:11). Etho using Tango's catchphrases 🥹🥹🥹 It gets me every time! "porkchop power" "flee with extra flee!" And the way he said it was the cutest, and Tango's giggle about it too (01:00:59). Etho offering to give the tour Tango wanted. More mail talk and laughing guilt and planning and razzing and teaching Etho to do the stamps. Tango complimenting the path (and that Etho showed it to him when he first came back when Etho came to say hi) (01:15:41). They still plan on doing their sand-collection-off (01:35:06).

And of course the whole TNTificating with Etho's new "boom boom tech" (01:39:43--02:15:17) was just…the most fun. They are having the most fun together...it's an absolute joy. (And it's also them collaborating on how to figure out a redstone thing together which is just so satisfying.) Just...TOO MANY (!!!) (so many) fun moments in that whole TNT section that I can't even start on highlighting them all 😭 I'd need another mammoth paragraph...

Someone's probably said it before but deactivated androids being frozen in the pose they "died" in is DIABOLICAL. Etho on his knees, then grappling for his life. Tango adrift through space, shredded. Mumbo, uh, (checks notes) dying badly (sad!). You're an evil genius.

I can’t take full credit for it bc the whole ‘locking/freezing up when they die’ is definitely from Dbh, but it’s soooo fun to apply it in the au for angst. >:3 The shot from children of the machine when doc sees all of the deactivated broken androids for the first time is soooo devastating it makes me. Sick <3 I’m putting here the page from Children of the Machine Explained where I talk a little bit about it, but I love that it gives us a little look into how they were recovered—i.e, like you said, the pose they died in (weeps).

uhhhhhhhhhh And then, I uhhhhh Got a little carried away thinking about it and did some really quick doodles of the full poses I imagine everyone from this shot was recovered in :) enjoy my little felt marker brush fellas!

Mumbo we don’t know much about besides the crack on his face, and without getting too much into it (because i do plan on (and am really excited about) exploring this more!), I do imagine he ends up down the boatem hole, so alas there he floats <3

I'm watching Limited Life right now, and I'm starting to get mean gills/majorwood/scottyn. It's so deeply melancholic and tragic in a way that really appeals to me.

They're diametrically opposed in almost every way that matters. The fought against each other in in Third Life, were narrative foils in Last Life, and have conflict in Double Life because of Cleo. What's more, Martyn is the Watchers' favorite son and Scott is their greatest enemy. By all accounts they should hate each other, should be rivals in every universe, but they're just not.

They are also neither of each other's first choices for a partner (Scott's being Jimmy and Martyn's being Ren) but they choose each other anyway because Scott has to defy fate and Martyn has to have someone to be loyal to.

But in the end none of it matters, because Martyn is the conduit of the Watchers' will . He wins because he embraces the game, taps into the darkest part of himself, and does exactly what he's supposed to do. All of Scott's goodness and fairness and honor is not enough to temper that, but he also wouldn't have it any other way because Scott is cursed to love people he cannot save from their fates.
