I heavily dislike Taurian. They got no flavor or spice going on other than that they are boyfriends on Tuesdays. So what, you don’t like the other on any other day/occasions other than on Tuesdays?!

Corax woke to the sound of a softly snoring Robert Harwood. The grizzled mercenary leader was still asleep. Robert's head was buried face down in the plumage on Corax's upper chest. Corax lay in the functional, if comfortable, bed, and took in the sights of the room around him - there had been little time to do so six - neg, eight - hours earlier. Corax decided he would allow Robert as much sleep as he desired. So he looked around the room - his genetically-augmented avian night vision allowing him a good view of everything, even in the dark - at the bare metal walls, the holovid player and CD audio system on the far wall, the open door to the surprisingly well appointed bathroom... it was a nice, if functional, room. Not as well-appointed as the Argo's quarters, but better than the barracks and sibko facilities Corax had been raised in. Idly he ran his taloned hands softly across Robert's still naked back, as his mind began to wander... there are adjustments for hot drop that needed to be made to the Haast Eagle before we drop, and the stravag PPC was still showing a .085% transfer inefficiency with the capacitor off-line - but he shook off those thoughts. He wanted to take Robert there, and show him. Every Mech pilot, and many Aerospace pilots, found LAMs an alluring, fascinating, "dead end" technology, but the Haast Eagle was the first to be built since the Jihad. It was the first of a new generation - especially since the Argo's prodigy of an engineering whiz-cum-electronics sorceress Jaela Yang-Murad had cracked the problem of mounting Ferro-Fibrous armor to a LAM.

So he lay, thinking, stoking his sleeping coupling partner's back, breathing, and feeling very content.

After a while, at precisely 5:00 Taurian Standard Time, (though Corax had no way of knowing that), Robert's eyes opened, quickly snapping around the room until they settled on Corax. For a moment, his bleary eyes widened, and his jaw went slack with awe, but as the fog of sleep cleared, recognition came over him, and he schooled his expression back to pleased neutrality.

"Mornin', Nevermore," Robert says. "Nice of you to to stick around. I'm led to understand that with you Clan folk it can be a bit of a 'Wham, bam, thank you ma'am' type situation." He sits up in bed, joints making all sorts of creaks and cracks from decades of abuse. He leans over the edge of the bed, pulling himself closer to the edge.

After a moment’s looking, he turns back to Corax with a slightly annoyed expression.

"Alright, where the hell are my limbs. I'm too hungover to remember taking them off, and I need them if I'm gonna make us coffee and breakfast." He says, gesturing with his arm to the three mounting surfaces that adorn his other arm and legs.

The two rulers of Scorpio clash this week so I would have to come out of hibernation to talk about it considering they are my two rulers.

It’s needless to say this would be an intense week but intensity has a way of expression. Despite a lot of fear mongering on this poor transit which aims to get us off our relaxed Taurian behinds, I feel Saturn influence this week on Mercury can give us the sobering effect to make best use of it. Making this intensely productive week in my view but not the one of fun and luxury as love bombing of Venus and Jupiter might have made our mind slip into lala land. June is about to show us thousand shades of grey as it goes from all about Jupiter to all about Pluto & Saturn to Neptune to Saturn again as by end of month social planets are to slip into their retrograde journey - Saturn (29 Jun), then Neptune (2 July). One by one external influences affect us a lot this month but each leaves internal conflict of some form which we are left to resolve by ourselves as we would slip from communicative Gemini external talk season to being home with oneself Cancer season on 20th June. This internal conflict that external influences create within us is our driving force this week.

Before Neptune tries to make mush of my 29º Piscean Mercury I will try to get to point now. And despite my natural paranoid self, I would try to keep the remnant lesson of Neptune in Pisces transit - create from faith and not fear even though there is fear attached to this aspect in traditional thinking.

My Uranus ascendent won’t let you believe anything traditional. We wouldn’t make positive Taurean changes in external world where we value stability so much if our internal demons aren’t woken up by Pluto. Its the same place it all comes from - you packed it away due to social fear in the same damn place to hide from the light - your raw desires, “perceived” negative emotions, you need to control to the point of abuse, your need to gain power, your intensity, magnetism as well as sexual magnetism and your ability to make impossible happen - all categorised neatly labelled in one box of underworld demons - all repressed under social pressure never to ever see light of day.

Jupiter in Gemini was generous - said talk openly to me Pluto - I will elevate your darkness to a higher purpose. Your drive will serve a purpose, your anger and your need to control will also serve an elevated purpose. Demons let loose at large in the open light ready to seemingly take over the sacred Jupiter realm which expanded both the influence and somehow made us comfortable with being all we wanted. This created a verbal mind freak Frankenstein of a person which doesn’t fit the transitional Taurian mould does it. Demons roaming in light of day in Taurean light do not look pretty. Here comes the judgement and internal conflict. It’s always the first step of any real external change which would come when Mars Uranus will meet to swallow whole a part of our traditional set up on 15 July (week of). Uranus changes will never stick especially in Taurus (love, money, self worth, beauty) if Pluto our inner engineering is not disrupted. It somehow happens through a trauma but it does. Mars Uranus are suddenly earthquakey shifts which we would be gifted with every two years to change the surface of ground we stand so steady on in our financial world, in our love life, in our self concept, in our idea of what beautiful and what love is and what is worthy or not in our physical world. Pluto helps us dig something more meaningful than crypto gold by conflicting with the material or surface or vain value of this change. So called demons enrich us else we would all be bodies looking for something which would never satisfy the soul.

This need to feel something more than surface is what drives our demons out in the open creating the conflicts we would see this week. Need to have soul attached to a change, hunger for power attached to ambition, hunger control laced in love, edgey dark artist works enriched by emotions not socially accepted to be shown in light of day - they all make what we create now. It will conflict with some people’s values and idea of what “pretty” or “love” or “beauty” looks like and that people would be first you yourself. This is internal conflict, you are inflaming your own body by blocking a part of you - you have labelled as “demonic” due to what you were told cause Aquarian time had not come. Those demons would be normal in a progressive society but they are not today so what do we do this week - do we dress them up in socially acceptable clothing so we can take them out for dinner. If the Beast wears a three vested coat can he dance in a ball with Belle. When you love despite the fear is that deeper than Taurean physical relaxed love or just toxic intensity of forbidden fruit. When you create from a place of trauma and damage is that you being honest in art or just spewing your dysfunction to masses. When you put your foot down to control your ideas and assets instead of freely sharing with traditional institutions are your being a recluse or are you breaking the hierarchy of old institutional structures. When your almost teenage daughter starts looking at black mascara is she acting up or just trying to express her not so nice girl which later can come out in more damaging ways. Perfection in beauty is the most repressive thing in the world - any very symmetrical Libran family can vouch for that. The glossed over, airbrushed, filtered images have made us believe anything else is not pretty. Damage is concealed. Though may be we shouldn’t be looking for soul on tik tok.

That brings me to the point. Are you looking for depth in wrong places. My father once said and he has never been wrong, your profession and passion may never be the same and should not be. He never said to not pursue them both but the concept of it - wanting one thing to be everything. The beast had to turn into the prince for happy ending. Aquarian age solutions might be different - blessing is we have a choice in today’s day and age to possibly pursue both. That’s what Gemini season and Sun Saturn is for - making those new or multi prong approach to get what you want to come to solid life. So first step is to give yourself grace in anger this week when you feel this intensity within yourself of being dissatisfied that traditional ways aren’t giving you the satisfaction of the soul, they were not designed for it - their concept will change overtime as Uranus adds more liberal views and freedom of thought to them. Observe the source of dissatisfaction and see if there are other outlets for the passion which doesn’t make one thing everything. Mars Pluto has the power to move mountains - you could change people’s mind - crypto is everything money, wild passion should be daily part of marriage with a stable not violent human being, you can wear goth make up in your 60s and it would still be cute, billionaires can be quickly made without nefarious plans or having one programmed for power and comfortable with the dark, popular art needs to be as complicated as this article - it wont happen it doesn’t. So we do both we have pop astrology and we have real talk. One makes money and one hopefully feeds the soul, duality of Gemini Jupiter makes us open to more than one options to help our demons run free and give them life to feed us. Can you feed off it and create something meaningful and lucrative both. Accepting that part of what you do would be profession and part would be passion.

That’s the thing with demons - once they have been shown light of day, they get over themselves and transform over time. Whether you verbalise them with help of Jupiter and Mercury in Gemini - I need this, I would like this, I would put my foot down for this, I need ambition, I need more, I need more passion, I need a bit of drama, I need a bit of this which I know is not socially accepted but it is what it is. You will find a way to express it - thats what Gemini season is for and thats what this year of Jupiter in Gemini is for. We should be physically careful but repression of whats coming out of you is not the answer. There is a reason Jupiter held hands with Pluto taking it out in the light. Cause that place where you hid everything away also had your personal power. They call it kundalini release for a reason.

Writing this article has given me a migraine hopefully someone reads it and it can bring comfort to atleast one self condemning person. (Sorry for spelling mistakes, cant edit it I cant see anymore due to ocular migraine)

Book Review

Since I have been on Spring Break and had time on my hands, I planned to write blog posts about two of the books that have shaped my astrological journey. Then the mass shooting happened. I already had this one written and ready to go; I just didn’t want to publish it in light of the tragedy.

As a Gemini, my approach to learning about anything is basically, “Let’s go buy lots of books about it!” I went through so many of them in my first decade of studying astrology. That I have kept hold of only two of them, after over 40 years, should tell you quite a bit about the rest.  One of the two, is among the first books I ever bought - way back in 1979/1980! - Astrology: A Cosmic Science by Isabel Hickey.

Getting the negatives out of the way: AACS may be one of the least easily-readable books to someone reading in 2021. Isabel had a very quaint writing style, shall I say.

It also turns out that Isabel was a follower of the “Huna” religion (according to a “Mountain Astrologer” article from some time back). She definitely took a more spiritual-growth perspective to astrology, and I had always wondered which specific practice she followed. To my horror, “Huna” turned out to be cultural appropriation*. Isabel does not specifically proselytize for Huna, or even mention it - and I can assure you, having been alive at the time AACS was written, frowning on “cultural appropriation” was not an acknowledged “thing” to white people yet - but it was still a disappointment to discover.

(*Some white guy traveled to Hawaii and asked the Hawaiian elders to share their spiritual tenets. They refused. The guy flew back to the US and, some time later, claimed to have had a revelation in a dream. Sure, Jan.)

Finally, the main body of AACS does not include Pluto. The book’s initial copyright was in 1970, only 40 years after Pluto’s discovery; Isabel felt it was too soon to add Pluto to the mix. Three years later, she wrote Pluto or Minerva: The Choice Is Yours. This is now tacked on to the end of AACS.

Now for the good stuff!

Way back then, it seemed that astrological authors spent so much more time on “the basics” - simply describing the signs and the planets (less frequently the houses), and discussing the ways in which they operate. The first nine chapters of AACS do just that, thoroughly introducing signs, planets, and houses.

Next is a very complete delineation of every rising sign, going through all 12 Houses. That is, she writes about Aries rising, but goes on to write about Taurus on the 2nd House cusp, Gemini on the 3rd, and so forth. (This obviously isn’t going to work for everyone, but you can easily jump around in the text to find the appropriate page.) 

There follows a “cookbook” section for planets in signs and houses, and the aspects. The final chapters deal with chart calculation, transits, progressions, medical astrology, and “the art of interpretation.” (Warning that the section about chart calculation isn’t the most clear method of describing it. I think it’s important to know how to do it “from scratch,” without relying on a computer, but this isn’t the best place to learn that.)

Why have I hung on to this book for over 40 years? First of all, there are many, many insights and techniques here which I have never found anywhere else. An example is her discussion of the modalities, Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable, and how they manifest in afflictions (squares and oppositions):

Squares and oppositions in Cardinal signs are faults and unlearned lessons of the previous life. They can be changed by constructive action and, if handled rightly, will not manifest as fixed signs at a later time…. Adverse aspects in fixed signs represent the harmful effects of self-will. These aspects are the hardest with which to deal for they represent the lessons we have failed to learn over many lifetimes, and are deeply ingrained patterns of behavior. They need a great deal of attention and self-discipline in order to divert the energy channels into constructive ones…. Squares and oppositions in mutable signs are the easiest to handle for they are just beginning to manifest. They can be handled by the right attitudes of mind. (Astrology: A Cosmic Science, Isabel Hickey, pp 54-55)

Another point in Isabel’s favor is that she didn’t just write about planets being in dignity, detriment, exaltation, or fall, in the various signs - she explained why the planet does/doesn’t work as easily in the sign:

Uranus is in its detriment in Taurus, the world of crystallized substance. Matter and material things are all important to the Taurian consciousness. The Uranian individual couldn’t care less. Uranus’ effect on Taurus is devastating for Taurus loves a rut and doesn’t like change. Uranus went into Taurus in 1934 upsetting the world market and we went off the gold standard. The economic situation between 1934 and 1941 changed the status quo forever. (Ibid., p 50)

Finally, Isabel did not pull her punches:

Sun opposite Saturn: An opposition differs from a square in that the opposition comes from opposing forces in the outer world. Oppositions always affect us through others. Squares are the innate difficulties within the individual. This aspect brings difficult people into our orbit causing the necessity to learn to compromise. We meet ourselves as we once were on the path of life but we don’t recognize ourselves in the other person. Obstacles and difficulties which are karmic in origin, frequently manifested through father, husband, or son. Selfishness must be overcome. A tendency to be drawn to negative and stingy people must be handled through understanding. (Ibid., p 209)

It has seemed to me, over the past 40+ years, that very few people study astrology in order to become an improved person, through a better understanding of their own characters. Most people care about getting laid and paid, period - and most astrology books cater to that crew. Astrology: A Cosmic Science would be a boring disappointment to the laid/paid contingent. To the seekers among us, though, it is invaluable.

"Capellan'd" (betrayed, especially if it equates to backstabbing, ranging from actual military betrayal to simply being left behind by your bros on a night you were supposed to go out)

"The Centrella Special" (Something that either sucks overall, or actively consumes an inordinate amount of resources, referencing both the presumed oral sex that the MoCs leader gave the sitting Marik at the end of the Reunification War, and also how the MoC drained the FWLs coffers to the point they nearly collapsed afterwards)

"LAM" (A boondoggle, something that doesnt work no matter how much you try to make it, a stupid idea people wont give up on. Real world examples include NFTs, the Cybertruck, lemon cars, and attempting to get a Taurian to go vegetarian).

"Hangfire" (When someone you're expecting to hear from again never calls. Both positive and negative)

"Hardcore Freakshow Circus" (Specifically an MoC term, referencing to an often large and confusing group of people gathering basically anywhere. Often utilized by retail workers on outlying Canopian worlds to describe the tourists coming through, often in great numbers)

"Gauss'd" (A long shot, that somehow actually managed to hit. A large risk taken and benefited from.)

Iphigenia (In Euripides’s Iphigenia Among the Taurians, Lines 380-391) I think the footnote (by Rich Rutherford) connected to this passage is very interesting; Mr. Rutherford makes note that it seems Artemis shares Iphigenia’s concerns about the cultic activities dedicated to her that are performed by the Taurians; the gods, after all, did send Orestes to take her idol away from them, possibly as a way to stop the sacrifice. Nonetheless, Line 391 addresses a point that is not dismissed by Artemis’s abhorrence of human sacrifice; though Artemis comes out in a fairly decent light in this play, Euripides is not afraid to address the questioning of the gods’ goodness. In Heracles, Zeus is depicted absolutely negatively, absolutely failing to protect his offspring, with one character even saying that while he sure does a good job with enjoying mortals’ wives, he takes no responsibility for the products of those unions. In Ion, meanwhile, Apollo outright rapes a woman, and all the good he later does for her is the unintentional side affects from his actions to advance his son’s social position. Even if Artemis does do the moral thing in this play, Euripides is still not afraid to confront the uglier side of the Olympian gods. And that confrontation sometimes leads to some uncomfortable questions (to traditional followers of the gods, anyway).

Male Character(s): Again a lot of them?? Naruto, Gaara, Lee, Kiba, Kankuro and Choji (best relatable Taurian cinnamon rolls), Kakashi, and surprisingly or non-surprisingly (idk depends on how well you know me) Zetsu!

Team: The Sand Siblings honestly, though Team 8 and Team 10 are close ties in second place.

Sensei: Kakashi bc honestly as ive grown up i relate to him s o much im so tired and bitter all the time

Hokage: Nart bc hes living out his dream and making the world a better place u go boy

Kage: Gaara w/o doubt tbh his character development is off the rails holy shit, best kage hands down

Village: Suna (always has been always will be)

Akatsuki: Zetsu bc he combines 2 of the things i talk abt a lot w/ my friends: plants and cannibalism (the more u know)

Fight Scene: Lee vs Gaara. Best fight and it was near the beginning of the series??? made me see Lee in a cOMPLETELY different light and can be summed up p well as: Holy Shit

Story Arc: Chunin Exams, Sause Rescue Mission and Kazekage rescue ark were all Good tbh a lot of the others we’re just meh for me

Are you happy with the ending? What would you have done differently? More or less: Lol no it was shit. As for what i’d change? Lemme write u a list of just a smidge of what ive decided is canon in my own mind at least:

Neji didn’t die bc Fuck That 

Neji and Hinata worked together to do something abt the Hyuga slavery

Nart and Sause lost their arms (nart has a prosthetic but it isnt that bandage bullshit we got)

Shit was worked out in konoha to actually sort everything that Kishi couldnt be botherd 2 sort out

Gaa and Nart got married (Nart also married Hina after some MAJOR CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT bc i can dream)

Iruka is Nart’s dad now ok

Gaa adopted Team Shinki and doesnt know how 2 dad but is The Best at it 

Sause and Sak DID NOT get together jfc (sorry salad u were sacrificed for a worthy cause even tho ur p cool i guess)

Who the actual fuck thought Boruto would be a good idea hes such an annoying doushebag

Himawari is wonderful

The sand sibs are all super close and keep in touch w/ tema bc shes in konoha

How do you feel about the new generation? I’m only in it for Team Shinki, ChouChou, Metal Lee, Shikadai and Himawari i might watch it but im gonna skedaddle out of there if Kishi fucks up just once more
