Another take on the TF2 Clone Theory:

Continuation to this.

When I was talking to people about the clone theory, they were always asking me about who were originals and who were clones. I didn't understand why that matters; they're all same people with the same memories of their pre-service past, right?

What I didn't understand is that people had entirely different take on how clones are made than I do. I've never even thought about the fetus tubes until someone specifically pointed out that scene in Emesis Blue... (I also didn't know cloning was a real life thing?? Not just sci-fi trope??)

So yeah I've always thought cloning was instant because it would also explain how respawn works. Classic "resurrection" either isn't the thing (lame) or just takes too much time to commit. However, the super cool very scientific respawn machine will use your remains + storage bio supply to quickly rebuild a new body (as it was at the assigning day) and put your consciousness into that body so you feel like you're living nonstop.

(at least that's the theory)

Also, to answer these questions:

They do remember their connections, their past and their memories. Memories of the past are the same.

Their families were not cloned, they aren't involved in this business in any way. They don't know.

However, to keep this secret from the mercs... Of course if both of the clones will speak to their families they will soon spot some weird things and inconsistencies (talking about things that seemed to never happen). Not even talking about visiting family on holidays, that's an obvious no-no.

So... First of all, a big deal is to make REDs and BLUs lives and experiences here as similar (ideally identical) as possible.

And second: I think their connection to the world is just very limited/prohibited. The telephone connection is entirely controlled by the Administration (Sniper has to drive far away to sneak talk to his parents). Letters are monitored, censored and withhold if necessary (or copied if they are FROM the family). No going home until the contract is due (many years??) etc...

Which contradicts comics in s lot of ways but you know what? I don't even care. Comics are an unreliable narrator anyways. I mean uh... I uh. I'll talk about it some other time.

This is a very self indulgent post about TF2 ships and the teams.

For the Red team:

Sniper and Scout 'best friends' but everyone except for the two of them realizes that they're absolutely romantic with one another.

Heavy and Medic are openly a couple

Engie is aroace, and not in a relationship with anyone.

Pyro is also not in a relationship with anyone.

Spy is exes with Scout's mom, but still pines after her and misses her a lot. (Alternatively, he is still in an active relationship with Scout's Ma, but he hides it from Scout by disguising himself as other people)

Demo is in a relationship with the Blu Soldier, but it's kept a secret from everyone else.

Soldier is Happily engaged to Zhanna.

For the Blu team:

As stated before, Soldier is in a secret relationship with the Red Demo

Demo and Sniper are a couple

Pyro and Scout are a couple

Engineer and Spy are together and it's super obvious even though they try to keep it hidden.

Heavy and Medic are together on Blu team as well, but they're much quieter about it than their red counterparts.

It took a while but with the help of some kind individuals, I'm finally satisfied with my new medic oc/sona! Meet the steampunk engineer/medic! Idk..

As you can see, I am very fond of him already!

There are a few things that still need to be fixed regarding his design.

His lore and such is still being worked on. I already have an idea.

so happy, will listen to you for HOURS on end.

however, hes very confused when you listen to him talk about his favourite Bonk! flavour for almost 3 hours. nobody’s listened to him that much before.

sniper needs earplugs because of the two of you

kisses you to shut you up sometimes, doesn’t matter if you’re dating or not.

you guys keep each other entertained for HOURS on end, it’s fantastic for the rest of the team because they don’t have to babysit scout.

has only gotten angry ONCE due to your yapping behaviour, but he apologized with cuddles and a giant blanket.

unlike him, you know how to control your behaviour sometimes. he’s a bit louder than you.

you are both a literal menace duo, the rest of the team are shaking in their boots.

deadass starts contests with you to see which one is more of a talker.

tries to be mysterious and fails so hard it’s funny.

They…

They are not yet officially a couple at the current time of the story, but they are getting closer to it, and it’s canon that they will become such ❤️ Their dynamic is extremely complex, and I hope to clarify it slowly. All in all: they are made for each other.

Here they are in a canon scene, walking under the sun towards Eugenie’s hangar while discussing cinema, music and freedom.

In fact, for me heavymedics have become so pleasant to draw in terms of I always know that I can draw them in any incomprehensible situation in order to cheer myself up.

tf2 is not a hyperfixation anymore , but it is such a gentle something that it is nice to return to
