It is so named for the denticles it has on the surface of its head. It is the only species in its entire family, the Denticipitidae, having diverged from other herrings and anchovies near the Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous era.

.. well ok i HAD some thumbnails sketched out of smth but i might scrap the big idea i had and just do a bunch of mini ones. in the meantime here is my favourite tai lung from said sketches. i warmed up to drawing him pretty quickly!!

still a little rough but i think shen might be the trickiest for me out of the four. i’ve got chameleon down to a T already LMAO

So! I mean, off the bat I wanted to make clear that Irene and “Aphmau” (named Ausca in my version) aren’t the same person. I thought the idea of Ausca either being some kind of empty vessel or possibly is Irene’s kid - i don’t know which one I liked better. 

Ausca (He/They/She) also is going to have an older sister named Claire [in reference to the fnaf miniseries - I think giving Aphmau/the aphmau-stand-in sibling relationships is so interesting].
