My first time drawing Transformers. I KNOW Soundwave has a canonical face in the comics, BUT I wanted to give my interpretation.

I have not watched Transformers Prime, I generally am not fond of the character designs, but this magnificent lovecraftian horror blessed my sight and I fell in love, ive been telling all my friend about how im gonna marry him lil creep freaky nightmare man love of my life can´t wait for him to show up in my nightmares I think i need to watch Transformers Prime

- Shockwave is the cold logic; Soundwave is the quiet connection; You're the soft middle, the grounding presence that makes their extremes balance out. You bring warmth and curiosity that fascinates them both. Shockwave admires your intelligence and methodical thought process, while Soundwave is drawn to the emotional depth you quietly exude, even in analytical discussions.

- Soundwave communicates mostly through body language, text projection, or sharing earth music he thinks you would enjoy. You grow fluent in his subtle ways of expressing affection.

Shockwave doesn’t understand emotional nuance well, but he tries, often asking very clinical questions like, “Is this level of proximity within your acceptable parameters?” to which you find both funny and endearing.

You sometimes end up being the “translator” between their methods, and they grow increasingly fluent in understanding you as a result.

- Shockwave builds you custom tech to monitor your vitals and filter out harmful air particulates when you’re working in the field. He sees your fragility as a variable to be compensated for, thought you insist that you can handle yourself, you appreciate his consideration and care for you.

Soundwave is the silent guardian—tracking your movements, ensuring you’re safe when you go hiking to examine rock strata or fossil beds. You often get a quiet ping from your phone with a “drink water” reminder. It's him.

- Shockwave is intrigued that you study ancient life. He often offers technical equipment to assist in excavation or analysis, fascinated by how organic evolution and extinction mirror aspects of Cybertronian history.

Soundwave records your fieldwork without you noticing at first, later giving you a perfectly edited time-lapse video of your dig sites to help you keep track of the rhings you find at various locations.

- Shockwave will ask extremely specific questions about extinction events, biome shifts and whatnot and then compare them to Cybertron’s ecological collapses. He silently enjoys your passionate rants.

Soundwave installs a holographic projector that lets you walk among full-scale reconstructions of ancient creatures—imagine a private AR museum just for you so you can go into further detail much easier.

- Shockwave claims he "doesn’t date,” but he will go out of his way to take you and Soundwave to the middle of nowhere at night with a high-powered telescope to stargaze. He explains galactic structures in stunning detail while holding your small hand like it’s an important relic, something rare and delicate.

Soundwave prefers quiet companionship. He’ll let you sit on his shoulder and lean on his helm while you read or let you ramble about prehistoric fauna for hours. Every so often, he’ll gently tap your head in acknowledgment, it’s his version of a kiss.

- Neither are built for soft human affection, but they both try. Shockwave often hold you in his hand or on his shoulder during trips or when he's in the lab. Soundwave also likes to hold you in his servos.

They don't really say “I love you,” but;

Shockwave: “Your continued presence elicits favorable neural reactions. I would prefer you not leave my presence anytime soon.”

Soundwave: [projects a visual of a heart]

- You’re the one constant they don’t calculate or surveil. They simply trust you. Which is huge.

They bicker—quietly, scientifically—but they both defer to you as the emotional barometer when things get tense. You’re the balance between logic and silence, and they never take that for granted.

I’m definitely seeing this with TFP Soundwave, and in a situation where he wasn’t entirely on board with it (he was guilted/manipulated and now he’s angry and resentful). When the autobots take the nemesis they find him on the bridge suspended and mutilated from the cieling looking like Glados (I just think that is cool imagery, but horrifying from their perspective).

They are, understandably, horrified. And Soundwave is, understandably, Done.

“Autobots…. Can have the ship. Condition: help me”

Soundwave is famed for his loyalty but even he has limits

“Soundwave is no ordinary Cybertronian”

“Soundwave is no ordinary Cybertronian, inside or out.”

This line in Transformers Prime always stood out to me, and the fact that we never got any clarification is disappointing because the implications are endless. However, after watching Cyberverse, I feel like my third-eye opened so buckle up and hear me out:

Let’s go over some important relevant facts:

We know Soundwave was around during the era of the Quintesson’s rule in the TFP / Aligned continuity (The Covenant of Primus goes so far as to say he was even a member of Sentinel Zeta Prime’s council of thirteen, but that’s another matter).

Because of Cyberverse, we also know that the multiverse exists, and that the Quintessons jump from universe to universe judging them. (See S3 E9: “Quintessons travel to each universe and judge which are worthy of existence. And if they’re found guilty, then that universe is destroyed.“ [x])

We know that the “Judge” must be native to that particular universe. (See S3 E11: “A proper judgement of a universe can only be made by an entity born of that universe.” [x])

Finally: we know when a Judge finds a universe guilty, The Scientist likes to keep a little souvenir for himself: aka, the Soundwave of that universe. (Creepy, but he has good taste).

So here’s my theory. What if when the Quintessons inevitably wound up in the TFP universe, The Scientist got a little carried away and decided to make the newest addition to his collection part of the main event?

TLDR: What if The Scientist altered TFP Soundwave with the intention of incorporating him into that universe’s Judge?

I know that sounds wild, but even from an visual standpoint, there are similarities between his design and the Quintesson’s tech. The biggest one is that The Scientist and Soundwave both have tentacles with biolights (a unique feature only Soundwave has. I mean come on — slap a red filter on him instead of a blue one and he could practically be a Quintesson). Soundwave also has that weird red internal diagnostic thing (?) he used when analyzing Optimus, which is also very reminiscent of the Quintesson’s tech / aesthetic (granted, this is almost certainly a coincidence but still worth noting due to how much it looks like The Scientist’s eye). Soundwave is also consistently show to be smarter and stronger than practically every other character in the series (with the exception of Megatron and Optimus Prime). Perhaps it’s just because he’s the “designated braincell of the Decepticons”, but it could also be because he was built to be that way and learned to use it to his advantage.

Like Ratchet said, “Soundwave is no ordinary Cybertronian, inside or out.” TFP’s universe may have won the war against the Quintessons, but not before Soundwave was turned into a Cybertronian / Quintesson hybrid.

I have this idea of TFP starscream having a sims world where he can play god and torture the sims modeled after bots he doesn’t like.

He made Megatron ugly on purpose and everytime soundwave gets praised he has their sims make out and names the babies dumb things like “slag-heap”

Shockwave’s is just put through the wringer of eternal despair. He’s been fired 7 times for dumber and dumber reasons like “smells too bad”. He froze to death outside, was eaten by dogs, executed by the state, boiled himself in a sauna, built a rocket tried to fly it and then blew up, anything you can think of.

“OoOoOh look at me I’m so smart I’m gonna run out into oncoming traffic!”

Actually yes I Do think Soundwave with an attitude is fun 😌 and he deserves it with what he has to put up with 🙄 and him using his cables as arms to express (or just as arms in general) is also great, I think he should do that more considering how long and sometimes awkward his arms are. Do I think Soundwave and Knockout woulda made good gossip girls? Yeah kinda. I assume that’s what being the eyes and ears of the decepticons and also being Knockout does to you

Some sappy tfp Megasound hcs

Soundwave loves animals and once snuck off to watch some whales and dolphins leaping out of the ocean. Megatron had secretly followed him and recorded a video the sight of Soundwave being so excited over watching a sperm whale leap out of the ocean.

In addition to hc 1 Megatron watches that video when he's very stressed because seeing the happiness in Soundwave's body language calms him down.

Megatron once carried Soundwave bridal style back to the Nemisis after Soundwave got injured in battle: Soundwave refused to leave Megatron's arms.

The first time they slept in the same berth Soundwave was out like a light, Megatron watched over him until he fell asleep too.

Always settle arguments by sparring which always ends in a draw and with Megatron and Soundwave cuddling afterwards.

Soundwave likes to watch documentaries about Earth's history and nature, Megatron hates documentaries (especially history ones) but will watch them with Soundwave if asked nicely.

Had their first kiss after a battle at the start of a war, hiding behind a burned structure to avoid capture in that moment.

Soundwave will rest against Megatron if he gets tired during meetings, Megatron allows this to avoid a cranky Soundwave.

Megatron once tried to steal an elephant plushie after finding out Soundwave loved elephants, he failed but Soundwave was still happy that he at least tried to get him a gift.

Soundwave will often snuggle Megatron if he ever gets upset, specifically snuggling into his side and refusing to let go of him until Megatron comforts him.

Megatron kisses Soundwave on the back of his hand every time they hold hands, it never fails to fluster Soundwave.

Soundwave will often climb onto Megatron's shoulder and sit on it as he knows it annoys Starscream and makes him feel single.

Soundwave has every form of birdsong he's heard memorised and often plays them to calm himself down after bad days.

Megatron and Soundwave both want kids but know it's not ideal to have a baby during a war, especially as a pair of decepticons.

Soundwave has a collection of shiny seashells and rocks that Megatron randomly gives him. He doesn't understand why Megs does it but he likes the little gifts regardless.
