WE ARE NOT OF THIS WORLD
“I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.” – John 17:14. He said I am not of this world. So if I am not of this world: Why should I clamor for the treasures and splendor of where I am not a part of? Why do I do what my Savior and His faithful Apostles and Believers of Old didn’t do? Why should I measure, judge…

Today, the Church commemorates the solemnity of SS. Peter and Paul, Apostles and Martyrs.
Orate pro nobis.
Both St. Peter and St. Paul have their own special feast day, so why is their a solemn commemoration for them together? The reason is that this day recalls to our minds the fact that they both were martyred (some say on the same day) in Rome during Nero’s genocidal persecution of Christians.
The significance of their martyrdom as the focus of this solemnity reveals this commemoration as one of remembering all who have been martyred for their faith in Jesus.
Christians are the single most persecuted religious people on the planet. Most people have never heard that. I’ve been trying to raise awareness of this fact as a priest for 20 years.
Open Doors, an organization that tracks persecution of Christians worldwide, provides direct support, and releases an annual report on the persecution of Christians (https://www.opendoors.org/en-US/persecution/countries/), notices an “alarming” increase in violence against Christians by Muslims in sub-Saharan Africa. In Nigeria, the number of religiously motivated killings jumped from 4,650 in 2021 to 5,014 in 2022 — making up 89% of all religiously motivated killings worldwide. The rest are by Socialist/Communist regimes. That means on average 15 Christians are martyred daily, mostly at the hands of Muslims in sub-Saharan Africa.
The global Muslim jihadist assault is destabilizing countries in West and Central Africa as well as other nations around the world. Entire countries are at risk of collapse into extremist violence. 26 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa face high levels of persecution; half of these have violence scores in the “extremely high” range.
The global Muslim jihadist movement, which seeks to expand Sharia across not just the African continent, but the whole world, has forced Christians into constant motion, from their homes to displacement camps, or to other countries. The insecurity stemming from this experience of forced displacement makes Christians even more vulnerable to further violence. Christian girls and women, in particular, are targeted for sexual assault and being sold into slavery, while men are more likely to lose their lives, and boys are either sold into slavery or forced to become Muslims and jihadists.
Today, more than 360 million Christians suffer high levels of persecution and discrimination for their faith. In Open Doors’ World Watch List top 50 alone, 312 million Christians face very high or extreme levels of persecution. Christians killed in 2023 so far have numbered 80% more than five years ago (3,066).
As we go about our days, let us bear in mind the cost of being a disciple of Jesus, that for some it is a social norm and therefore not very costly, and for others it costs everything.
May we who live in nations where being a Christian is safe never forget the deadly plight of those who live daily in the valley of the shadow of death, and let us pray for their strength to remain faithful to the one who rose victorious from the grave.
Almighty God, whose blessed apostles Peter and Paul glorified you by their martyrdom: Grant that your Church, instructed by their teaching and example, and knit together in unity by your Spirit, may ever stand firm upon the one foundation, which is Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.

Rescind ban on Benin Republic varsity’s certificate, stranded students beg Tinubu
Tumblr media
A visually impaired widow and over 600 students of the ESM University, Benin Republic, and their parents have appealed to President Bola Tinubu to reverse the ban on the institution’s certificate in Nigeria. The distraught students who are on the scholarship of a faith-based organisation, ‘Omega Power Ministries’ and their parents cried to the General Overseer and their benefactor, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Friday, and lamented that the ban has brought agonies to them. The students and parents, while fighting back tears, said they were shocked when they received news about the Federal Government’s decision on the ESM University, Benin Republic. The undergraduates said withdrawing them from school when they were already making progress and after their benefactor had invested much in their education was tantamount to jeopardising their future. Speaking to newsmen, one of the parents of the distraught students and visually impaired widow, Mrs Josephine Hycienth, said it was a huge relief when her son benefitted from the scholarship to study at the Benin Republic University, decrying the hardship she was experiencing since her husband’s demise. She stated, “Nobody cares about us since after my husband’s death. I want President Bola Tinubu to come to our aid. They should not cancel their education. “If my son is allowed to come back home, nobody will assist in his education, I need the president to help.” On his part, a student of 200-Level Computer Science in the university, Moses Nicodemus, said he is already in the 200 level going to the 300 level, saying, “I came back to Nigeria for my Industrial Training only to hear that my school is not accredited.” He added, “That is why we are calling on our President to come to our aid. Our father (the cleric) has spent millions of naira on our education. We need help. We have tried to study to come out with good grades and certificates.” Chinyere disclosed that before sending the students to the institution, he personally went to the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja to ascertain the credibility of ESM University, and he received a positive affirmation. While expressing dismay at the development and the turn of events, he appealed to the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to prevail on her husband to consider the danger of abruptly stopping the students’ education. Chinyere stated that he has invested hugely in the academic development of the students, emphasizing that the funds spent on them were the proceeds from church offerings and tithes which according to him he has vowed to use in capacity building and reaching out to underprivileged people. He said, “Before I started this scholarship, I personally went to the Ministry of Education, Abuja, to verify if ESM is accredited. Also to verify if the graduates of the school will be able to participate in NYSC in Nigeria. And all these were confirmed positive before I paid the first school fees. It was that guarantee that I got from the education ministry in Nigeria that made me send students on scholarships to the school in Benin Republic. “Yes, I have many students on scholarships in Nigeria; why send students to Benin and other countries for studies? The issue is that the system (government) made education very strenuous for students, and the government policies made education very difficult. Every day, people come to my house for scholarships: less-privileged, widows, orphans etc. I have more than 4,000 students currently on scholarships right now. I am not talking about the people that have graduated. “Only in the Benin Republic alone, I have spent more than N500m from offerings and tithes that come to the church. I am not talking about other places. Do you want this money to go and they will come and start afresh? There are ways you can assist these students by strengthening the policy instead of putting more burdens. “Please President Bola Tinubu, I know you are a father. Look at these parents, look at these children and reconsider. Let this policy be reversed so that these children can return to school. “They are supposed to go back to school this September. Putting in money for them again from the beginning is not possible. These monies are from offerings and tithes to help people.” Read the full article

Former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun has made a startling confession about his role in the controversial transfer of the Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone to a Chinese investment group, a decision he now admits was based on deceptive claims.   Breaking: Three Nigerian Presidential Jets Seized by Chinese Firm   The former governor revealed on Saturday that he was misled into handing over control of the multibillion-naira trade facility to Zhongfu International Investment Ltd in 2012 without conducting a thorough investigation, setting the stage for a prolonged legal battle that now threatens Nigeria's assets abroad. Read Also: Apostle Suleman And His Toilet Flight From Germany to France Amosun, who governed Ogun State from 2011 to 2019, issued a personal statement acknowledging that his decision to appoint Zhongfu as the interim manager of the Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone was made hastily and without proper due diligence.   He admitted that the information provided by Zhongfu, which led to the removal of the original managers, Guangdong Xinguang International China Africa Investment Ltd (China Africa), was later found to be false. The free trade zone, established in 2007 under Governor Gbenga Daniel, was intended to foster seamless trade between Nigeria and China. China Africa, which held a 60% stake, was in the process of developing the 10,000-hectare facility in Igbesa, Ogun State, when Zhongfu entered the picture.   Zhongfu claimed the zone was being poorly managed and offered to take over its administration, a proposition Amosun accepted without further inquiry. In his statement, Amosun explained the sequence of events: “Zhongfu International Investment FXE, pretending to be a concerned and genuine tenant and Zone stakeholder, volunteered very damaging and destructive information about the official representatives of Guangdong Province, the Joint Venturer and lawful Zone Managers, China Africa Investment FXE and subsequently requested to be appointed as Interim Zone Managers. “Based on the information at the government’s disposal at the time, Zhongfu International Investment FXE was appointed interim zone manager on March 15, 2012, pending further evaluation. The whole idea was to ensure that someone was in charge and thereby prevent unwholesome and untoward development in the zone pending the completion of our fact-finding exercise. “It was later discovered that the information and claims volunteered by Zhongfu International Investment FXE against China Africa Investment FXE were tissues of lies." The former governor further revealed that the Chinese government intervened in the matter, clarifying through a diplomatic note that China Africa was the rightful owner of the trade zone. Despite this revelation, Zhongfu sought legal redress in Nigerian courts but failed in all four cases they filed, according to Amosun, although he did not specify the cases. Amosun has called on both the federal government and the Ogun State government to avoid any resolutions that would favor Zhongfu, warning that engaging with the company would be akin to endorsing an unlawful entity. He compared the situation to Nigeria's handling of the notorious P&ID case and urged a similar approach in dealing with Zhongfu. This confession comes at a time when Nigeria is embroiled in a bitter legal dispute with Chinese investors. Zhongshan, the parent company of Zhongfu, has been pursuing compensation claims against Nigeria in international courts, with attempts to seize Nigerian assets in France, the United States, and other countries.   The conflict escalated recently when a U.S. appellate judicial panel allowed Zhongshan to continue its efforts to seize Nigeria’s assets in the country, following a $60 million judgment awarded in the United Kingdom. Amosun's admission has added a new layer of complexity to the ongoing legal battles and raised concerns about the potential consequences for Nigeria's international relations and economic interests.

By Lere Olayinka   Yesterday, I saw one of the videos of Apostle Johnson Suleman, leader and founder of Omega Fire Ministries International, a church based in Auchi, Edo State, Nigeria. In the video, Apostle Suleman claimed that a member of his church, based in Germany received a prophecy for a church in France. God told him to go to France, but he had no DOCUMENTS. Documents in this regard will mean VISA and Flight Ticket. But God told him to go to the Airport. When he got to the Airport, he met people on the queue, presenting their documents (passports and flight tickets). He joined the queue. When it was remaining six people on the queue, God told him to go to the toilet. He entered the Airport Toilet and started praying, speaking in tongues. As he finished praying and opened his eyes, God told him to go out of the toilet. He went out of the toilet and saw himself walking out of France Airport Toilet. The church shouted Hallelujah!!! Now, my observations. 1. The man in question was living in Germany - How did he get to Germany? Without Passport and Visa? 2. Can a Nigerian be in Germany without a Passport and valid Visa? 3. With Visa of Germany (Schengen Visa), no Visa is needed to go to France. In fact, with say a Valid Germany (Schengen Visa), you can travel from Germany to 26 European countries, France inclusive. 4. You can also travel from Germany to France by road or rail. a. Germany (Frankfurt) to France (Paris) covers 562km. With FlixBus, it will take about 8 hours from Frankfurt to Paris. b. Berlin (Alexanderplatz) to Paris (Gare du Nord) by TRAIN will take about 10 hours. c. Flight time from Germany to France is 1 hour, 27 minutes. 5. When you get to an International Airport, won't you have to CHECK IN and go through Immigration Checks first before going to the Boarding Gate? 6. Can you be allowed to get to the Boarding Gate without travel documents like Passport and Boarding Pass? 7. When the man traveled from Germany Airport Toilet to the France Airport Toilet, how did he get out of the Airport? He was not checked by the Immigration? 8. How many times has Apostle Suleman, himself travelled like this? May be he has been entering his Church Toilet in Auchi and appearing in Abuja, Lagos, London, etc. 9. Why did Apostle Suleman not use this power of Toilet Airport Travel to avoid those attacks in 2022 and 2023, in which many of his aides, including Policemen were killed? Before some of our Gatemen of Heaven and Jesus Christ PAs will come here with their usual "Carnal minds can't understand spiritual matters Bla Bla Bla...", let me say here that I believe that there is nothing God cannot do. However, things God can do, but He won't do are many. In fact, they are plenty. One of such things is what Apostle Suleman said. For instance, you are in Lagos, God can make you wake up at the middle of the night and find your husband or wife who is London, lying beside you. It is what God can do. But he won't do it. Or how will you feel if you suddenly find your friend who is in Abuja, by your side while driving on 3rd Mainland Bridge in Lagos? Or you planted rice in your farm today and when you get to the farm tomorrow, you find the rice plantation ready for harvest, how will you react? God has provided means of transportation and has even blessed most of our Daddy GOs and Mummy GOs with Private Jets. He therefore do not need to act like a magician by making them enter a Toilet in Abuja Airport and appearing in Lagos Airport. God has made for processes of getting things done and no spirituality will alter those processes. For instance, without pregnancy, no child can be born. Even when there were no means of transportation, Prophets of God did not fly through Airport Toilets. For instance, Abraham had to trek from UR (now Tell el-Muqayyar, Southern Iraq), his place of birth to Haran, where he first settled. It was a distance of 641 miles (1031 Km) from UR to Haran, and God did not make Abraham to enter a room in his father's house in UR and come out of the room to appear in Haran!
So this miracle of Germany Airport Toilet Flight to France Airport is a LIE, BIG LIE! Most importantly, we are in the age of empirical evidence, not the age of tales of ÌJÀPÁ (tortoise and YÁNNÍBO (tortoise wife). Therefore, let this mockery of God stop. Let this assault on the collective sensibility of Nigerians stop too. We don dey wise abeg! Olayinka, a journalist lives with the Irunmales of Oke Agbonna in Okemesi Ekiti, Ekiti State
