I enjoy this one. I'm a fan because of the introduction of the Rani. I think she's a super neat character. I always enjoy when the Master is involved as well.

Mark of the Rani is such an episode. The Master is following the Rani around like a lost puppy the whole time. Him and the Doctor are doing their usual thing and the Rani is completely done with their bullshit. And they both keep bringing up how she is a genius whenever they can

"Scarecrowing" [Great House: Culture/Terminology (pre-War Era)]

The colloquial name for a technique originally developed by Homeworld intervention groups for use during reconnaissance and infiltration missions. "Scarecrowing" is a technique devised to exploit certain psychological blindspots in the lesser species by pretending to be a statue or scarecrow, which usually has the benefit of allowing intervention agents to situate themselves in the open near local thoroughfares or roads, or even sometimes within buildings, with an unobstructed view on comings and goings.

After the disgrace of the Homeworld intervention groups and the shift in focus to the Enemy, "Scarecrowing" fell out of favor with Homeworld operatives. The technique was later adopted by outside groups who often found themselves embroiled in the affairs of lesser species, such as Faction Paradox, who gave it it's current name.

The technique was based on the idea that while many people might suspect a scarecrow could be capable of moving, not many people expect it to.

why did no one tell me how wild mark of the rani was, like:

the rani girlbossing (gaslight, gatekeeping) for the whole ep the rani kicking the master in the balls? stomach? I think the former. i mean her just being beautiful was enough people turning into trees the doctor being paraded around tied to a stick the doctor and the master hugging standing chest to chest for heterosexual (definitely not gay) theft reasons the doctor calling the master a prince the master being a petty child throughout and this exchange: doctor: i should think you would turn into a laburnum tree master: a laburnum? why? doctor: the pods are poisonous master: heart eyes
