I've actually been thinking about the three gables all day. John was so sad, it broke my heart.

I was mildly disappointed with the three gables, and the ending also worries me a bit. More thoughts below the cut

If you've following my posts through the first two parts, you'd know I was rooting for some big angst. And needless to say, I was disappointed when it was resolved with a quick scolding and a laugh.

But this also doesn't bode well for John's mental health. Because he is actively letting these things happen. He's letting his boundaries be crossed and is laughing them off.

Just a run down of everything Sherlock and Mariana did;

Gave John a safeword he could use if he wanted to go home and then ignored it

Lied to John when he asked them to not bring the mic (also I don't think they asked if they could use the mic for funsies anyways)

Got him to go to a party when he's said he didn't want to go

Then ignored him at said party and ran off

Did a case behind his back and then got him to join said case, despite John saying he was on hiatus.

Now, do these things make Sherlock and Mariana bad friends? No, or at least not unforgivable. But they still deserved some consequence. Because all this shows is that John will let them ignore his wishes, and just not express his frustration with them. Which worries me cause it's just building up then. Especially with all this imagery of falling and how we're inching closer and closer to the final problem.

And yes, I do recognize that nice moment where Sherlock toasted to Mary Morstan. Yes, it was a very nice moment and a kind of apology to John. No, I do not think it was an adequate apology, they never actually apologized for the list I gave above. John deserves better.

In my honest opinion, I think they should've just left John at home and had this be entirely a Sherlock and Mariana adventure. But that's just me.

Can't believe I didn't see anyone in the tag talking about this moment, where Sherlock has just been told Watson's been attacked and is injured. He doesn't even say a word, he just jumps up to leave, but he takes a quick moment to softly wrap Mrs Hudson in his blanket before leaving.

And people still say he's cold and uncaring and rude, smh. He cares so much, both about the people in his immediate circle and about the people who come to him for help. Yes, he can be rude, and he especially doesn't always treat Mrs Hudson very well, but he's also so soft and warm and caring.

The Three Gables parts 1 and 2 Sherlock & Co. Thoughts and Spoilers!

So, pardon my language, but John's going to be fucking pissed, isn't he? And I don't mean the obvious, "oh, he's going to be upset that Mariana is recording him without consent". I mean she and Sherlock are out-right LYING to his face now. In part two that just came out, they both lied to him about working on a case, a potentially dangerous one at that too, in such a way that made it clear that John wants to know about these things and doesn't like being kept in the dark at all. And just after that, Mariana ignores John's use of the safeword in favour of going off to investigate more. That word that had so much importance behind the making of it in the first part to help John with his grief and discomfort. Mariana and Sherlock may have good intentions and feel guilt about what they are doing, infact we actually can say for certain that they do, but crossing so many of John's boundaries all in one night when he himself has admitted that he is so fragile is going to end up in a huge explosion of an argument in the next and final part, isn't it? Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it caused some angst in our little group in the form of John getting trust issues, considering how close they've all been up until now and how much John is already hurting. Strap in, mates, I have a huge feeling that Mary's death in The Sign of Four was a kick off point for a long series of drama.

I have just watched The Three Gables for the first time (Granada) and I love it so much! It is going in the favorite file for sure. Watson fighting? Hell yes! Watson hurt/Comfort? Holmes running when he hears he is hurt. Physician heal thyself? Hell to the yes! Also the way the boxer has Holmes in the window at the beginning and Watson comes in like, damn, put my husband down! Fabulous over all.
